Tables :: Add A Field That Calculates Percentage Of Yes Responses On That Particular Report And Record
Feb 26, 2013
I'm a Access novice trying to set up a table to record the answers to simple yes/no questions. I've got all the questions set up and yes/no fields set for their responses, but I now want to add a field that calculates the percentage of yes responses on that particular report and record that too. I'm trying to use the 'calculated' data type, but then I can't work out what to type as the expression.
What I'm looking to do is calculate the success rate (%) of compliance rates with Quality Control paperwork. Essentially, each record has 12 "check box" fields representing the different QC sheets that are submitted each day.
I have what is probably a stupid question but I've been struggling with this one for a while. I have an ordering database which has an Orders table (containing Order ID, Date, Supplier etc) and an Order Line table within which I have a combo box for Product name, supplier, price, VAT rate, Line price etc. At the moment, I have the order line table as a subform within the Order form (run from the Orders table). The problem I'm having is the subtotal and total fields. At the moment these are in the Order Line table as I cannot figure out how to get these in the Orders table. In summary, can I make a calculated field in one table that calculates values from another table (linked by Order ID)?
I have a database for collecting evaluation responses for training. There are 20 questions, with a combo box for each with responses: agree, strongly agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree, n/a. I want to create a report that counts the number of responses for each question from a session. I don't know how to put a calculation field in a report to count the various responses and am not a programmer. Can someone help me.
I have a table with questions and a table with responses. The questions are all answered with Yes, No, or Don't know. However, two of the questions go on to say that if you answered yes, please specify. It then provides a list of possible specifications for the "yes". One of the possible specifications is "other". I need to know how to set up an additional table for the question/statement: If you answered yes, please specify. I then would need a table for its responses. Same goes for the option "other", I need a table for the responses for other. Attached is my paper form that I am devising my questions from. It is in part iii of the app. Question 6 and Question 11 are the questions I do not know how to deal with. I also don't know how to set the overall section up. Since each question will have a yes/no/don't know, but how do you set it up when you get to Q6 and Q11 to have it ask the user additional questions or ask for more information?
Attached is also my DB. You can view tblApplicantQuestions and tblApplicantResponses to see what I have set up so far in line of questions and responses.
I have two collums, currentowed and currentpaid. i want to add another field to my report showing the percent of currentpaid to currentowed but I can't seem to be able to make it work. I tried:
=sum([currentpaid]/[currentowed]) and it doesn't work.
When I add ANY record to a Table I get meaningless symbols in a Text Field on my Report.I have a Microsoft Access Database of College Football Teams and their Schedules that otherwise works just fine. In the past, I regularly added new teams to the Teams Table. I enter Team Name, Conference and Division affiliation (if any), whether or not they play home games on Grass or Turf and a hyperlink to the team's website.
I went to add Fordham to my Teams Table, as Fordham plays at Temple this week. After I entered the information in the Table, I saved and ran the Compact and Repair Database tool. I went to run a Report that contains a text field called "Comments" that I enter non-indexed comments about the game manually in the Schedule Table or on a Form. Not all games have comments. However, as a result of entering Fordham in the Teams Table, I now get nothing but weird looking symbols that look like Wing-Dings or Chinese Script in the Comments column on the report. These symbols show up in each row under Comments, whether or not I actually have a comment in the field. These symbols also show up on the report no matter what team or time period I select on the Form that runs a Query that generates the Report.
I isolated the problem to this addition of Fordham, because if I delete the Fordham record from the Teams Table, Save and Compact and Repair the Database, I can return to the normal looking text in the Comments Text Field in the Report. I tried only entering "Fordham" as the team name, disregarding any of the other information, like Conference, Division, playing surface or (most importantly) the hyperlink, but I get the same symbols. I also tried entering just a team name of something other than Fordham, but the same pesky symbols show up. I restored a previous version of this database before the problem showed up, but, when I added Fordham, I got the same result. I tried searching on this topic, but with little luck. There were a few things like making sure the hyperlink was not indexed or Unicode Compression was off, but nothing really more than that.
Hi, i have poduced a report and i want to calculate some percentages. Some of the fields i have are:
Total Sales Clothes Shoes Pants
200 20 120 60
% 100% 10% 60% 30%
As you can see in total 200 sales were made, 20 clothes sales, 120 shoe sales etc and below it a percentage of each of the sale types. I have put this ' =Sum([Clothes]/[Total Sales])*100 ' in to calculate the percentage...but it does not work...Any help would me much appreciated :)
*This hasn't shown up very well...hope you understand it?!
I'm trying to create a report that has three sections.
Section 1 = Planned Cost; Section 2 = Actual Cost; and Section 3 = % Variance.
I was able to build the first two sections easily with my query, but I'm having some trouble with the % variance part. Would I have to build that into the query itself, or is there an easier way to do it within the Access report fields?
Below I've included a mock-up (drawn in Excel) of what I'd like the Access report to look like.
Also, for reference, this is what the query used for my report looks like. Note: The original raw data looks a bit different, but I used a crosstab query in order to get the months of the year to appear horizontally as fields. (That's how I need my final report to look.)
I have a table with the name of a report, the items on the report, and the number of items on the report. I would like to count the instances of the names of the individual reports that appear on another table and then divide that count by the number of items on the report.
I have a question about summing information on a report. I am developing a report to see have percentage of time Staff work within a certain area. On the data base the time percentages entered as ranges e.g. 75-100%, or 11-25%. We needed to figure out the total percentage of time so I created a report to add the total time. I used a text box which it titled FTE_Total if embedded iif functions to display the total time. Here is the function I used:
This worked perfectly however I cannot get the FTE_Total fields to sum. I tried the following function in the group footer: =Sum([FTE_Total]) but everytime I try to look at the report in report view I get a message asking for the FTE_Total Parameter.
I'm new to this and I've created a report that shows evaluation scores before and after for some training we are delivering. The Query I've created works out the percentage of change for each record. The problem I'm having is that I can't now summarize these percentages for each instructor.
What I'm entering to retrieve the percentage score is:
I have a query that currently calculates a rating based on various values entered into the database. This rating corresponds to a Quality Index value based in another table. I tried to set up a query that links the rating value in the query to the Rating in the table, however, when I run this query, I don't get all the results I should. Is there some other way to make this work? I thought it would be simple to link the rating value that is calculated to the rating in the table and have it report the Quality Index value associated with that value. Please help!
Code: Public Function Progress(ByVal varCompany As Variant _ , ByVal varPercent As Variant) As Variant Static varCompanyOld As Variant Static varValueOld As Variant Dim Value As Variant If varCompany & vbNullChar = varCompanyOld Then Value = (1 + varPercent) * varValueOld varValueOld = Value
[code]....
This function is working if I use it with two or more companies. If I have only one company, it works at the first (query) run, too.But with the same company, a second (query) run calculates different results.
I think it is because of this condition:
Code: If varCompany & vbNullChar = varCompanyOld Then ...
If the company name is e.g. Microsoft
At the first run of the query:
Microsoft & vbNullChar = "" -> wrong
The Else calculation will be carried out.
-> That is right for the first datapoint of a company
At a second run of the query:
varCompanyOld is saved as Microsoft & vbNullChar, so:
Microsoft & vbNullChar = Microsoft & vbNullChar -> True
The main calculation will be carried out.
-> That is wrong for the first datapoint of a company
I am building a report and need to know the coding in the query (or in the report) to achieve the following.
Currently, in my query - 3 fields that work fine:
AppDate - dates of set appointments (Appt)
MonthNo: DatePart("m",[App_Date]) - get Month value
YearNo: DatePart("yyyy",[App_Date]) - get Year value
What I need is : EXACT coding to get these counts to show in my report:
January 2013 12 appointment (there were a count of 12 appts in January) over 23 days (there were 23 days where appts were booked in January) of 31 days (total number of days in the month of January)
February 2013 18 appts (there were a count of 12 appts in February ) over 19 days (there were 23 days where appts were booked in January) of 28 days (total number of days in the month of February )
I am trying to produce a report that shows a single record that has fields in multiple tables. When these reports we're in Word form they were about 7 pages long. I put them in access to be able to update the data in one or more than one of them at a time more effectively. But now I am unable to get them print out one at a time like they looked originally in Word form.
On a table I have a field labeled "Interest", and it is for what you would expect.
I have the data type set to Number, and the format set to Percent. For some reason I cannot change this field, it keeps resetting the value back to 0.00% even though I type something else in.
I'm setting up a database for student evaluations. Students have several options as to how well the instructor did for each survey question. I've been able to set up the data entry form to my liking, and I can use a query to average the total answers to each question, including a count of how many people responded. HOWEVER, I need to calculate the percentage of responses for each option. For example, I need to know the percentage of students who picked "Excellent" for question 1, how many students chose "Very Good", how many chose "Good", etc., so on and so on for every question. How can I do that? I'm completely stuck and a novice user. HELP!!
I created a field of type number and formatted to display percentages; however, it seems to add two zeros at the end of every percentage I enter. e.g. if I type 9%, it will show 900%.
I have a text file delimited and uploaded the information to a new Access Table. One field "MarketValue" has a number followed with a percentage (i.e. 100%, 54%, etc..), however it converts as a text column.
How can I convert the column to a TRUE percentage field representing the value originally imported.
I would very much appreciate help with this one. So thanks in advance if anyone can help.
I have a table which has a Text Field (it has to be, I'm afraid). The data is listed as follows: 5.6% 12.23% 2.45% etc. I need to use these values to multiply other figures in queries. I have tried FORMAT and various other ways in the query to convert the data, but to no avail. All I get as a result is an ERROR. Anyone got any ideas? Ginny
I have a database which tracks the performance of my team and how long it took them to send something out to the customer. We have a target of 5 minutes.
So I quite a few queries to drill down this information. I have a summary query that takes that information and tells me the total amount of things sent, the amount of things sent in time and the amount of things sent late.
My team have to get at least 95% out on time. So how would I go about adding this bit into the query. The calculation is:
The amount sent on time / the total amount * 100
But is there anyway to add this into a 4th column displayed next to these figures?
Looking around a few people have talked about SQL but I no nothing about this and it seems quite daunting, is there a way to do this as a calculated field?
I am trying to work out the expression that will first count the number of 'Yes' returns in a series of yes/no boxes and then display as a percentage.
To explain...The yes/no boxes represent attendance over a 20 lesson course. I have added a count for each lesson for student attendance..(grouping them in the footer) but I would like to add the number of attendance for each student.
