How can we add value during time if the number in unknown?
For example : I would like to add more phone number but when I design tables I dont know exactly how many numbers of each contact there is , so haw I can make my database flexible to add more phone number during time.
What I have is a database setup with multiple tables in which different areas of my DC can input information simultaneously into their respective tables. I then have another database linked to it for myself to have a live view of each updated record. I would like to see all the records of each table in 1 single table (possibly just sorted ascending by time). Each table has the same Field headings but may have different qtys of records. As I will then have it linked to an Excel table to VLOOKUP from it.
I have tried Union coding but always get Syntax Error etc.
I am new with Access and I am setting up a data base that will have 16 tables and each table with have over 3,000 customers. The reason for 16 tables is that we will be inputting information on a monthly basis for each of these customers (12 of the tables) and I also have 4 tables that will be perfomring different "tasks" for each customer (one is just to keep the notes we make for each customer, one will be to show any billing done, one is going to be a summary of the entire year along with some additioanl information not entered elsewhere and the final one is our customer information table).
The customer account number is the primary key for all of my tables.I want to know how I can add a new customer (either using query or form) at one time that will populate all the tables. Right now I have everything set up as tables but I can set up queries if need be.
I have access that is required to be accessed by multiple users and register their activities which is reflected with the tables in the background and form sends also the time that they are putting their activities.
So i split the tables and put them in a share folder in one of the PCs. however, the problem is about the timing and dates is not correct usually, and i found out some of the PCs their dates are not on sync. I asked and found out sometimes it is required to change the timing in their PCs.
Therefore, i was wondering instead of fetching the timing from their PCs why not to put the timing of share PC (i.e. timing/Date of the share PC which has the splitted tables)
so can i do like this:
User PC: (Form1) & user activity => Share PC: (Split table) & take time of the share
as the topic says, i'm a beginner playing around w/ access and i tried to make a query that used 2 tables, but the problem is that when i try to view the query, (since i'm using fields from 2 diff tables may be why) none of the data shows up and all of the fields are blank.
i'm trying to create a query that runs off 2 tables in order to better organize my data. so what i'm trying to do is (with the invoice database i'm trying to create) get some fields from table1 to automaticallly roll over to table2 on the query because table1 and 2 use a different invoice numbering system but some of the values are identical for the y/n fields.
does anyone know how i can fix my query so that i can make it that it merges 2 tables together and still shows the data?
I have two tables created. One contains only names of people, the other contains the names along with other information stored about those names. The names consist of first, middle, and last on both forms, but for some reason, I can only get the middle name onto the names only table and not onto the other table with all the other information. if you'd like to see the db I have it posted to yahoo briefcase, just send me a message for the username and pw.
I am creating my first database and I'm a beginner. I have a table called customers and another table that has customer and product information. What I would like to do is when a new record for my product is entered it also enters the customer information on another table. I have repeat customers though, so I only want it to enter it once. Right now, I have to enter the customer info separately. Customer table contains: Customer ID, first, last, Phone. My product table also has this same info. Is this possible? To enter info on a product form and the selected info be copied into another table at the same time only once.
hi all, I have created the database with multiple tables. I've created one main table to store all records from other tables. Then I have make several forms to enter record into several tables. What I'd like to make is that when I enter new record to any one of those other tables, then it will be automitically add to the main table also. The record no of main table will be automatically increase by itself when the new record came in. Can anyone help me with it? thanks.
While much of the discussions here are out of my league, this may just be the place to finally get some help.
I have a hobby weather station and I am also into gardening. Over the years I have accumulated a fair amount of data/ observations which are currently in assorted Excel spreadsheets & are becoming more an more difficult to maintain.
So, I decided to move the various Excel tables into MS Access. While I was able to draft a entity-relationship diagram for my horticultural data, I am at a total loss when it comes to weather/ climate data which are primarily time-dependent. With other words, I cannot find any references that explain how to design pairs of foreign and primary key for linking datasheets that contain time varying data such as various weather and climate data.
I have ordered dozens of books through the local library. Every book presents exactly the same example: customers and orders/sales. This example is fine when you have a myriad of interdependencies in your data (and proved useful for my horticultural data). But, my weather data are more or less independent of one another; the only thing they have in common is the time/date when I make the observations.
Do I have to create dozens of surrogate keys and add a ton of redundant data ?? I hope not !
Hello, Using Access 2000, linking tables to Oracle 10g with a db trigger forcing the default display format within Oracle to dd/mm/yyyy hh24:mi:ss (ie 24hr time format). Unfortunately MS Access displays in 12 hr format in the datasheet grid. A Sybase article reported this issue:http://www.sybase.com/detail?id=1024202. Do you know if this has been fixed for more recent versions of MS-Access? Thanks Pascale
We are setting up a table and are trying to get a field to be a "time" field. I've changed the field to "date/time" and have chosen 'short time' in the background but when I open the table it keeps giving me a calendar to choose from then turns it into a time.
I want to make a table where in I have to input atleast 10 numbers in one reference ID which there is a start time and end time.
A form with inputing one reference ID and then adding multiple numbers at once and saving the data with a start time and end time. Is it possible to capture the time for that specific reference ID?
I'm trying to create an Access database for my college so that our call centre can allocate students to a specific interview time/date. The problem I'm having is that each interview slot must only have a maximum of 10 students at a time.
I'm creating tables for the student details, address and for each interview slot available.
I'm using Access 2010.
How I can limit the number of records in a table to 10 so that when that interview slot is full it informs the user?
Access 2003. I am trying to save a calculated field (Item No) from a form to the accosiated field within the Products table
I have a hidden text box (itemNo) which is bound to the relevant field and a second text box with the following formula
="TV-" & Left(CatShort.column(1),3) & "-" & Format([ProductID],"0000") as its source
What I am trying to do is to provide an item number for each item of stock based on the Category short name (Catshort) and the incremented item ID Number, with a TV prefix.
I am aware that its a bad itea to place calculated field into the table if the calculation is likely to change, however once my calculation is stored it has no need to change.
I have tried the beforeUpdate method within the ItemNo textbox
Private Sub ItemNo_BeforeUpdate(Cancel As Integer) Me!ItemNo = Me!ItemCalc End Sub
but nothing happens (in that the table is not updated)
Any way of putting together an incremental item number based on the selected category with a "TV" prefix....
We are collecting data from client files that have multiple dates (start_date, event1_date, event2_date, end_date.) For client protection purposes, we are absolutely not allowed to leave the facility with the actual dates. However, we want to know how many days have passed between each event. I thought about having the data collectors enter each date, have a calculated field store the time between dates, and then have the actual dates cleared when the record is saved or when the person moves to the next record.
I have an application with a backend db on PC 1, and the same application on PC 2 linked to the backend db on PC 1 via the network.
The link works fine but the time formats are different.
On PC 1 the time format is shortime and displays as it should i.e. in 24 hour clock format
However on PC 2, opening the same database via the network, the time format is still shorttime but when you read the time within the code it comes out in AM/PM format. Also, when the defaul tiem should be #20:00:00# but this changes to #8:00:00 PM#
Weirdly though, when you just open the table, the times are in the correct shorttime format.
Guessing, it must be a setting within the main core of Access 2003 that is different between the 2 instances?
Basically what I'd like to do is to sum the time, and output it in the text box for the valid check box. For instance (in the picture attachment) if the 'Running' check box is ticked, Access will add 15 minutes to the 'Total Running Time' text box. If 'Running' is checked again on the next Record, Access will add an extra 15 minutes (totalling 30 minutes) to the 'Total Running Time'. On the 3rd Record if 'Down' is checked, Access will add 15 minutes to the 'Total Down Time' text box, the same for 'Change Over'.
I am having some difficulties with a Date/Time Field. I am importing a | delimted text file into a table and the Date Field is resulting in a Type Conversion Error. In the raw text file, the Date Field has the following Format (example): 01/03/2013 03:11 PM
My import Spec is as follows: File Format: Delimited Field Delimter: | Language: English
[code]....
The only thing I can think of, is that the mix of Leading Zeros in the Time AND AM/PM is causing a problem. But, I do not see a way to address this with an import spec. The odd thing is that if I import the DateOpened Field as Text, THEN change the DataType to Date/Time AFTER import, then save the table, it recognized/converts the DateOpened Fields correctly.I'd LIKE to get the import spec correct (I have to update twice daily), But, barring that, if I could import as Text then build a Macro that would:
1) import text file(s) 2) change certain fields datatypes to Date/Time 3) Save Table(s)
That would suffice. I could then use VBS (and perhaps windows scheduler) to run the macro when needed.
I am trying to do has to be done in a table and without the use of forms (becasue its what works for us) in Access 2007. I have a table where my staff records a number of different data fields for accounts. I currently have a 3 table relationship established. One of these table is our "Notes" table. My staff enters continuous notes for different accounts as new information come in.
What I have done is set my "date" field's default value to "now()" which accomplishes the time-stamp I need, but at the same time as soon as they type anything in another field in that row Access creates another row which is unwanted. follow up how can I go about also having a field that auto fills w/ the user's name/ID?
How can I add an ID-number that always increases (by 1) each time I add a new record to a table (using a form)? I want to always use some info from the record that was added last to fill in a different form. The reason for my question is that I heard that the autonumber does not necessarily increase each time a new record is added...
Any way of setting up a table containing the following date/time fields.
StartDate StartTime EndDate EndTime
Ultimately I will need to be able to subtract these date/times to get a total time between the two. Should I combine the start date and times in one cell or keep them separate.
In either scenerio, how do I subtract the two in a query for a report?
