I have a form (frmHourEnter) with a combo box (cmbJob) and if the number entered into the combobox is not in the list then another form (frmJob) is opened and a new number is entered. On closing this form I run:
Code:
Me.Form!frmHourEnter!cmbJob.Requery
The combo box (cmbJob) does not show the new number unless I close the form (frmHourEnter) and re-opened it. If I add the following code to the one above:
Code:
DoCmd.Requery "Form!frmHourEnter!cmbJob"
Then click out of, and then back into cmbJob the number is in the list! What can I do so that the number is in the list when the second form is closed?
Today and yesterday I added new fields to a table and they are showing wrong when everything is right. I added yes/no fields and a combo box look up and when I drag them over to my forms they are just showing as textboxes and not a checkbox or combo box. When I look at the backend and look at the fields it clearly says it should be a checkbox or combo box. Iv done it the same way I always have and this time its just wrong.
Is there a way for my inventory form to show what page that item is on a report? I tried directly adding a text box with control source directing to the report's "Page" [Page] of [Pages], but i guess that's not the way it works?
I am building a relatively small database, but it is made up of a number of different tables which are fed by other tables.
My three main tables are:
EmployeeDetails Occupational Risk Profile Health Surveillance Requirements
The employee details table has fields fed by small tables such as Department, Location, Business Unit, Occupational Group etc. These are all made up of an autonumber primary key column and a variable column as described above.
I have been going round in circles with a lot of this as I am still learning.
My problem is that on my forms these fields are showing as numbers and not the text values. For example, I have one form made up for each of the main tables above but I can't get them to display the relevant text.
I did a search on here and somebody said to create query to link the tables and bind this query to a form.
How do I set up the query just to return the text part and not the number? How do I bind this query to the form if I already have the record source on a my form as a table? (can you have more than one source in the record source?) Do I create one large query with all of these fields and use this as the basis for the form?
I am creating a database that will allow users to log in and submit bids on houses. There are only a certain amount of house plots available, but I cannot seem to make the database find the top bidders within the plots available, for example the top 5 bidders or top 7 bidders, depending on how many plots available.
I have 4 fields, from two different tables. I have a bidder ID field, House Type ID field (which I use "[please enter house type ID"]), a bid amount field and Number of plots field.
I want the query to select the top "x" amount of bids that it says in the number of plots field, e.g. 5.
How can I do this for all the different house types?
I have an Access 2010 report that is pulled from a dedicated query. When i run the report, one of the fields pull the information in both the numerical ID number and the Field information. For example, the field in question is a field for "business type"......the report comes back in some lines as Manufacturer, Supplier, distributor, or contract. In other lines it comes back as either 1, 2, 3, 4...which is the ID number form the table. I have gone through all the properties and data source and can not figure out my the information is being returned so differently.
Table 1: contains staff names and contact numbers Table 2: contains training above staff have been on or need to go on Table 3: contains pc and printer asset numbers of above staff
I used a form and entered some new members of staff in table 1. They got their auto numbers etc but when I open table 2 and table 3 those new members are not showing up in those tables. I have checked the relationship status between the 3 tables and the staffID from Table 1 is associated to table 2 and to table 3.
What's stopping the new entries from showing up in tables 2 and 3 ?
I have a people table; Ethnicity Table; Program Type Table; Attendance Table.
I enter the people into the people table then enter people into the attendance table with lookup for name from the people table and a lookup for program type from program type table and enter date attended. I then run a query on the attendance table to remove duplicates. I created a form from the attendance query there are 3 headers Program, Ethnicity, Name. but the program type comes up as the ID number and not the text name.
The Ethnicity did the same thing but when I added the Ethnicity from the people table to the ethnicity header it show up as the name and I hide the box with the number but when I add the program type from the program type table to the program header is changes the source of the report to the program type table and then nothing shows up. It did not do that when I added the ethnicity type from the ethnicity table to the ethnicity header.
In one table i Have component group Id and the description as fields then another table has the sub groupings for each Component Group Id
Example Component Group ID = 1 which is the primary key Description = Keyboards
Component Sub datasheet has Group ID = 1 foreign key Descriptive Options = USB, Wireless, PS2, Serial
I have joined both of these in a query but what i want is the query when i link it to the combo box on the form i have to only show the Group ID once and not repeat it for as many times as each subdatasheet has records.
Example: When i click External Device I dont want to see the word Keyboard being repeated 4 times (which is because there are four subrecords/types of keyboards) Please Advise.
I have one combo box bounded with two fields, Id and Description through a query.
I entered a new id in bonded table but for some reason I don't want to enter description now.
And if I delete the entered id then I will loss that unique id which is using for description, which I don't want. Now the problem is one blank space showing in my combo box.
So what criteria I should use in query criteria to avoid blank spaces?
I have a report on which I have a combo box showing text value as open issues and closed issues. What I want to do is on the report in a text box show count of open issues and closed issues separately.
I have a combo box to show bring up the cost of my products .Although it shows the correct prices in the combo box ,when i select the cost it posts an entirely different cost in the appropriate field. It seems to be posting the product id number with £ sign in front of it
I'm creating a form where people can choose something in the first combo box [ComboBox1] which results in the second combo box [ComboBox2] displaying only the items that are associated with the first combo box [ComboBox1].
In my second combo box I have the amount of "empty lines" that equals with the items associated with the first combo box. But there is nothing displaying. No words.
I have a form that has several text boxes that correspond to a cell in a row. One of the columns contains just numbers 1-300. Now what I need is a combo box that contains the numbers 1-300 and when one of those numbers is selected I need it to import all the information from the same row into the correct text boxes.
For example when the number 3 is selected it will take the row with the number 3 in it, take all of the cells and import them into the right text box.
I am a novice to Access and in order to get some training in my workplace I need to show how access can be applied to my role.
I have a table of information consisting of 3 fields:
Motor manufacturer Model Attachment (picture of particular car)
I want to have someone able to select the manufacturer and Model from Combo boxes and this will pull up the image associated with this model.
There are more than 1 model for each Motor manufacturer so you may have:
manufacturer Model Ford Fiesta Ford Mondeo VW Beetle VW Golf Fiat 500
You must not be able to select the wrong model for manufacturer, i.e. Ford 500
The images are currently saved onto the table as an attachment, This may be wrong as well, This may be a simple task to do, but hopefully I can get it running smoothly and show this is the right tool for the job.
I have an Access2007/SQL Server 2012 system with 20 users for an insurance company. The company does most of its business via a network of vehicle dealers around the country. If someone comes in to buy a motorcycle, boat, or recreational vehicle at a dealership they need insurance to take it home, and our dealers send the quotes to us.
The dealers, in turn, receive payment from us each month for their efforts. Some are paid a % commission on the premium, some are paid for each quote they send regardless of whether the policy actually sells or not, and some are paid a set amount per sold policy. (Yes, that is relevant information!)
We already have reports that tally the amounts due each dealer based on their payment scheme, but last month our bookkeeper had to write about 650 checks manually because the check writing is not automated. She'd look at the report, and then enter name, address, and amount (in digits and words) into Quick Books and print the checks from there, a horribly tedious process. I've been asked to print the checks from Access. Basically one click would print all 650 checks.
I've opted to use a Make Table query to move the commissioned dealers amounts to a single location, and then to run two append queries to add the records from those paid per quote and those paid per policy. At the end of the day, one table contains all the information necessary to print the checks...except one.
The check number.
I need a way to sequentially number each record in the new table with a user generated starting point, the first check number.
By the way, the check blanks are on standard letter sized paper, three to a page, with tear-off perforations to separate them, in case that information has any relevance.
I think the best way to accomplish this is from the report itself. I've created a blank field on each record for the check number, and what seems most logical is that the sequential number is generated on print and written back to the table, rather than just generating all the numbers at once. That way, should print ever be interrupted, it will be easy to take up where we left off.
I would like to know if there is any procedure to restrict/stop auto number increment for certain number of record count (say 50), then increment by 1 for next 50 records.
Access 2010. This has worked before but I don't understand why this is not working for me now. When i select an item in a combo box in a form and click on a button to run a query with the results, the query is blank. If I run the query alone, it prompts for an item, I can type it in and it works. I have even tried the DoCmd on the combo box but still same results. Attached is a dummy down DB. If you run the query, it will prompt, select Paper or Rock, see results. But run the form, the drop down will not show the results. What am I missing?
I made a form for users to go back and see saved records as and when required. However my cascading combo box are not showing the saved information. Information is saved in back end.
In the Purchase Order details form a Supplier has to be chosen via a combo box. Based on that another combo box in the subform displays products only from this supplier (Products table is linked to supplier table).
I managed to let the subform combo show only relevant products using criteria referring to the main form combo box. Also other product data will show accordingly in text boxes. So far so good.
However when I close the form and reopen it the subform combo box is blank, other text boxes still show the right values. If I remove the filter criteria for the subform combo then all fields show all data correctly. (However the combo box is unfiltered again 8-/)
So somehow the 'criteria' prevents the combo to show the value that was previously chosen.
Is it all possible to create the equivalent of a combo chart in Excel in Access?
What I need is a graph showing a certain dataset as columns but also a line showing the average for that set.
As an example lets take an exercise programme in a school, each child performs a series of exercises every week and data is recorded, to monitor their fitness progression.
Lets say I wanted to show a graph of one particular exercise, with the class students listed along the x axis, and then show the class average for that exercise dataset as a line on the same graph.
Hi I have a form which has two command buttons A and B. I set that when somebody click the button A then table A will be open and so on. But I dont want that table opens in new window. I want that I can "draw" a "box" in form where the table will showed. So can anybody help me and tell how to set that table will always show in "box". Can I set this somewhere in Access or do I have write VBA code. (I'am very very poor at coding)
I Created a form and linked it to a ODBC table with no data. Set the Allow Additions property to Yes. It shows fine if there is data in the table but not when there is no data.
I need some normalizing my data properly, and then showing the values in a form.
Currently, my table relationships look like this;
However, there can be multiple Genres per Band and each Genre will be applied to multiple Bands, and I know this is a Many-To-Many relationship, but I'm uncertain on how to create this properly and then show it in a subform in a form.
