I have a text string in the following format "00:09:10". Is there a function I could use that would convert it to HH:MM:SS?
I have been asked to calculate an average of time spent on a certain task and it is stored as text. Does anyone have suggestions on how this could be accomplished?
Formatting issue regarding elapsed time calculated using DateDiff().
I understand that you can specify the output value for DateDiff(). In my case I have chosen "n" for minutes. Each result in my query shows the correct calculation in terms of minutes.
[PunchIn] = 11/23/2013 8:11:28 AM [PunchOut] = 11/23/2013 5:43:30 PM
Now when I try to format the result in terms of H:MM (be it in a form or a report) I get varied results. I'll illustrate an example below:
=Format(([ShiftLength]/60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 10.32 Not correct
=Format(([ShiftLength]60),"0") & "." & Format(([ShiftLength] Mod 60),"00") Returns 9.32 This is correct but I need my result to be in the form of a decimal such as my next example
=([ShiftLength]/60) Returns 9.53333333. Getting there but how do I have this result only show two decimal points 9.53?
I have placed a combo box on the form. The combo box displays time from 7:00 to 13:00 in the same format. There is a label adjacent to combo box that converts the time selected in the combo box to IST. the code for this is like this
Dim arrLoginTime() As String arrLoginTime = Split(cmbLoginTime, ":")
I am using MS Access 2000 and have imported some raw data one of the rows of data shows a time but displays this as a general number ie; 1246 or 745 is there any way I can convert this number into a time, 24hr would be nice, so 1246 displays as 12:46 and 745 displays as 07:45 or 1530 displays as 15:30 ?
I have some vba that dump an access table into a recordset and then into an excel spreadsheet. When the data is exported Columns I:Q (which are numbers) appear as text (with the green triangle in the upper left corner). I have a pivot table that refreshed however it can't do anything with text.
I've tried just to change the cells format and it doesn't work. The only way I've been able to change it to a number is to click on the green triangle and select "Convert to Number" How can I do this via VBA? The # of rows will change but the columns will always stay the same.
I would very much appreciate help with this one. So thanks in advance if anyone can help.
I have a table which has a Text Field (it has to be, I'm afraid). The data is listed as follows: 5.6% 12.23% 2.45% etc. I need to use these values to multiply other figures in queries. I have tried FORMAT and various other ways in the query to convert the data, but to no avail. All I get as a result is an ERROR. Anyone got any ideas? Ginny
I have a text box control in a form that is bound to a table field. The field is of numeric format that stores time duration in minutes. I would like to apply sort of transparent / automated conversion. It would work so follows:
- when someone read records, the text box would convert a integer number stored in the filed into text so that the text box would show the time duration in this form "HH:MM" - when someone clicks on the text box to change the value, one would input the value in this form again "HH:MM" but the text would be converted to minutes and then stored in the database.
hello once again, I need to import a text file into an existing table in Access. The text file has been imported once and is working well and everything. However, since I had to change some of the datatypes to be able to query the table correctly, I now cannot import the text file anymore unless I change the datatype of the table itself. Since someone other than I will be doing the imports from here on out, changing the datatypes everytime is out of the question. I was looking at the TransferText event, but I didn't seem to see anything about converting data types. I can think of two options, and neither are probably possible: 1. import using the wizard. Since I didn't see anything related to the types of data, I don't think this will work... 2.import using TransferText. This doesn't seem to give me any opportunity to change the datatypes either. Is there anyway to programmatically change datatypes, or is there possibly an easier way that I'm overlooking?? thanks in advance, *j
I'm having trouble converting text to proper text in Access 2010 using Windows 8.1 as OS.
The message I keep getting is:
The expression you entered contains invalid syntax. You omitted an operand or operator, you entered an invalid character or comma, or you entered text without surrounding it in quotation marks.
I have an old Table with Movies, Actress, Actor, & Director Fields & I have converted it to .accdb. I want to turn those short text fields to an ID number. I have built Tables for those fields(indexed no dups) with an ID field. I have over 5000 records in the original table and dont want to input those numbers by hand. I am using Access 2013.
Hi Apologies first if there is an easy answer to this post as I'm new to Access.
I have a notes box on a form that users update with the latest progress of work done. At the end of each progress I would like Access to automatically add the date, time and user's network id so that I can track who did what and when.
I just got a request to add a new text box to a form called "EstimatedDuration" and trying to a command button that when clicked, it will insert 30 minutes or #00:30:00" into the box. I'll wind having 5 or six buttons with 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, etc. Basically, this will be used for new projects in my database and for management to click one of the buttons to add an estimated time duration of how long the "think" the project will take to complete.
I have a database with two fields [RECEIVED] and [DISPATCHED] which unfortunately are text fields which I can't change (linked via ODBC). Time is entered in these fields as military time.
I created a query with [DISPATCHED]-[RECEIVED] which works unless the time spans different hours. Example 1605-1555 returns 50 instead of the correct 10.
Any idea how I can use a query to calculate this accurately. I am an intermediate user. Any help appreciated.
I have created a table called - "Test" The properties of the table is listed below
Table Name: Test Field Name: ADMDAT2 (Text) DISDAT2 (Text) Operation Date (Date/Time)
I have written a query to populate a field where the Operation Date is between the ADMDAT2 and DISDAT2
Expr1: IIf([ADMDAT2] Is Null,"",IIf([Operation Date]>=[ADMDAT2] And [Operation Date]<=[DISDAT2],"Match"))
Unfornately it returns and ERROR message... I believe this may be because, the data type of the field, matching a Text with a Date/Time, I have rerun the query using a sample table where all the fields are Date/Time, and it work perfectly.
What i need help with how do i convert a text field into a Date/Time in a query?
So i can place that in the query before i populate the Test table. therefore it all should be date/time
Basically what I'd like to do is to sum the time, and output it in the text box for the valid check box. For instance (in the picture attachment) if the 'Running' check box is ticked, Access will add 15 minutes to the 'Total Running Time' text box. If 'Running' is checked again on the next Record, Access will add an extra 15 minutes (totalling 30 minutes) to the 'Total Running Time'. On the 3rd Record if 'Down' is checked, Access will add 15 minutes to the 'Total Down Time' text box, the same for 'Change Over'.
I am needing to design a form that allows a user to add or overwrite a number of records by copying and pasting the information from an Excel Spreadsheet, however one of the problems is that the information being sent has times stored as text - so, for 04:45, it is simply stored as 0445 on the spreadsheet.
Is there a way to have these autocorrect once pasted into the datasheet? Also, is there a way to make a datasheet form that copies a number of records into itself depending on a user selection? The basics of what I am trying to achieve is:
I have a number of services that operate on a number of services (public transport), each vehicle has a unique identifier (Bonnet), and each place in the schedule has a unique identifier (RunNo); there are different schedules for different day types (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday to Thursday, Friday and so on), and the times that each RunNo goes out and comes in differs depending on the day type.
At the moment, I have a table which has the following fields:
ID (Autonumber, PK) DayType Route RunNumber TimeOut TimeIn
My idea/hope is that a user will be able to open a vehicle allocation datasheet for the day, select the day type (lets say, Saturday) which will then populate the relevant number of rows with the schedule information (looking at a Saturday, that would be 128 rows), and then a blank column to add to the records a vehicle ID that is being used for each RunNo for the day.
Now, on top of all this, I need to also cater for vehicles being substituted during the course of the day - - - if one breaks down, it will have to be de-allocated from the list (so presumably by changing the TimeIn to the current/actual time rather than the scheduled time) and the user will need to be allowed to add a further row to show which vehicle was used next against that RunNo.
Just to further complicate things, there is quite a number of vehicles that will have a time in which is in the following day (ie after midnight) - whilst this isn't a problem in storing the times, I also want this table to be looked up to determine whether a vehicle is currently allocated or not.
The fields for the AllocatedVehicles table are:
ID (Autonumber, PK) RunNumber Bonnet Number DateOfService TimeOut TimeIn
It is hope that all of these with the exception of Bonnet Number can be populated by selecting the day type?
