I have a text string in the following format "00:09:10". Is there a function I could use that would convert it to HH:MM:SS?
I have been asked to calculate an average of time spent on a certain task and it is stored as text. Does anyone have suggestions on how this could be accomplished?
Hi
Apologies first if there is an easy answer to this post as I'm new to Access.
I have a notes box on a form that users update with the latest progress of work done. At the end of each progress I would like Access to automatically add the date, time and user's network id so that I can track who did what and when.
Is there an easy way to code this?
I want to add current time as default in a text box, how can i do it?
View 1 Replies View Related I have some vba that ends with a text box being displayed that says "file created"
I would like to add to that text box how long it took.
My initial thoughts are to add to the start of the code a variable that stores the current time (stTime)
and at the line before the text box is shown get the time again (endTime) and subtract one from the other to get the time taken in mins and sec
How do you convert text stored as 300 (which is 3 pm) into a time field?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got a request to add a new text box to a form called "EstimatedDuration" and trying to a command button that when clicked, it will insert 30 minutes or #00:30:00" into the box. I'll wind having 5 or six buttons with 30 minutes, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, etc. Basically, this will be used for new projects in my database and for management to click one of the buttons to add an estimated time duration of how long the "think" the project will take to complete.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a database with two fields [RECEIVED] and [DISPATCHED] which unfortunately are text fields which I can't change (linked via ODBC). Time is entered in these fields as military time.
I created a query with [DISPATCHED]-[RECEIVED] which works unless the time spans different hours. Example 1605-1555 returns 50 instead of the correct 10.
Any idea how I can use a query to calculate this accurately. I am an intermediate user. Any help appreciated.
I am having an issue trying to add the year at the end of the following line:
=(1000000*(Month(Now())))+(10000*(Day(Now())))+(10 0*Hour(Now()))+(1*Minute(Now()))
If I put + (Year(Date())) it doesn't work..What I want displayed is this: 80911512012
8 = month
09 = day
1151 = time
2012 = year
I have created a table called - "Test"
The properties of the table is listed below
Table Name: Test
Field Name: ADMDAT2 (Text)
DISDAT2 (Text)
Operation Date (Date/Time)
I have written a query to populate a field where the Operation Date is between the ADMDAT2 and DISDAT2
Expr1: IIf([ADMDAT2] Is Null,"",IIf([Operation Date]>=[ADMDAT2] And [Operation Date]<=[DISDAT2],"Match"))
Unfornately it returns and ERROR message... I believe this may be because, the data type of the field, matching a Text with a Date/Time, I have rerun the query using a sample table where all the fields are Date/Time, and it work perfectly.
What i need help with how do i convert a text field into a Date/Time in a query?
So i can place that in the query before i populate the Test table. therefore it all should be date/time
thanks in advance
How can i put a fixed time for the current date in a text field.
So the field will be 06:00:00 for the current day when the form is open?
Basically what I'd like to do is to sum the time, and output it in the text box for the valid check box. For instance (in the picture attachment) if the 'Running' check box is ticked, Access will add 15 minutes to the 'Total Running Time' text box. If 'Running' is checked again on the next Record, Access will add an extra 15 minutes (totalling 30 minutes) to the 'Total Running Time'. On the 3rd Record if 'Down' is checked, Access will add 15 minutes to the 'Total Down Time' text box, the same for 'Change Over'.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCould I change my unbound textbox (txtperiod) on the Report to display the time period.i.e.
Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly
Criteria is BeginDate and EndDate on main form.
I am needing to design a form that allows a user to add or overwrite a number of records by copying and pasting the information from an Excel Spreadsheet, however one of the problems is that the information being sent has times stored as text - so, for 04:45, it is simply stored as 0445 on the spreadsheet.
Is there a way to have these autocorrect once pasted into the datasheet?Also, is there a way to make a datasheet form that copies a number of records into itself depending on a user selection? The basics of what I am trying to achieve is:
I have a number of services that operate on a number of services (public transport), each vehicle has a unique identifier (Bonnet), and each place in the schedule has a unique identifier (RunNo); there are different schedules for different day types (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday to Thursday, Friday and so on), and the times that each RunNo goes out and comes in differs depending on the day type.
At the moment, I have a table which has the following fields:
ID (Autonumber, PK)
DayType
Route
RunNumber
TimeOut
TimeIn
My idea/hope is that a user will be able to open a vehicle allocation datasheet for the day, select the day type (lets say, Saturday) which will then populate the relevant number of rows with the schedule information (looking at a Saturday, that would be 128 rows), and then a blank column to add to the records a vehicle ID that is being used for each RunNo for the day.
Now, on top of all this, I need to also cater for vehicles being substituted during the course of the day - - - if one breaks down, it will have to be de-allocated from the list (so presumably by changing the TimeIn to the current/actual time rather than the scheduled time) and the user will need to be allowed to add a further row to show which vehicle was used next against that RunNo.
Just to further complicate things, there is quite a number of vehicles that will have a time in which is in the following day (ie after midnight) - whilst this isn't a problem in storing the times, I also want this table to be looked up to determine whether a vehicle is currently allocated or not.
The fields for the AllocatedVehicles table are:
ID (Autonumber, PK)
RunNumber
Bonnet Number
DateOfService
TimeOut
TimeIn
It is hope that all of these with the exception of Bonnet Number can be populated by selecting the day type?
I have two fields that are in short time format, and are saving the information to the table in short time format.
I then have a field that I have set to auto-fill under the chosen circumstances, with a text roughly as follows
Code:
Dim Story As String
Dim IDepTime
DimADepTime
IDepTime = [InstructedDeparture]
ADepTime = [ActualDeparture]
Story = "This person was instructed to leave at " & IDepTime & " but did not do so, instead departing at " & ADepTime & "which caused us a problem"
me.txtnarrative.value = Story
End Sub
This all works, however the times being displayed are in hh:mm:ss format, when I only want hh:mm format - how do I tell it the format I want?
I have a simple project to work on
In a field for date/time, I want to have a default value of No Shipment Date, this text for a date/time field.
I am having some difficulties with a Date/Time Field. I am importing a | delimted text file into a table and the Date Field is resulting in a Type Conversion Error.In the raw text file, the Date Field has the following Format (example): 01/03/2013 03:11 PM
My import Spec is as follows:
File Format: Delimited
Field Delimter: |
Language: English
[code]....
The only thing I can think of, is that the mix of Leading Zeros in the Time AND AM/PM is causing a problem. But, I do not see a way to address this with an import spec.The odd thing is that if I import the DateOpened Field as Text, THEN change the DataType to Date/Time AFTER import, then save the table, it recognized/converts the DateOpened Fields correctly.I'd LIKE to get the import spec correct (I have to update twice daily), But, barring that, if I could import as Text then build a Macro that would:
1) import text file(s)
2) change certain fields datatypes to Date/Time
3) Save Table(s)
That would suffice. I could then use VBS (and perhaps windows scheduler) to run the macro when needed.
How to copy the time automatically to text box to become time as data (rich text) when entering data to a form.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem converting text to a real date value so I can do some calculations. I have a query that brings in data from an external data source. It appears the data is stored in the external table in text format and looks like this:

I have tried CDate to convert the text to a date/time format, but no luck. Any ideas?
From a info sheet on RTB Using the Add, Clear, and Remove methods, you can dynamically populate the control with embedded objects at run time. Can those 'embedded objects' be controls, e.g. list boxes, labels etc ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an application with a backend db on PC 1, and the same application on PC 2 linked to the backend db on PC 1 via the network.
The link works fine but the time formats are different.
On PC 1 the time format is shortime and displays as it should i.e. in 24 hour clock format
However on PC 2, opening the same database via the network, the time format is still shorttime but when you read the time within the code it comes out in AM/PM format. Also, when the defaul tiem should be #20:00:00# but this changes to #8:00:00 PM#
Weirdly though, when you just open the table, the times are in the correct shorttime format.
Guessing, it must be a setting within the main core of Access 2003 that is different between the 2 instances?
Any ideas?
This screen shot may help:

I want to be able to set text boxes so that if one enters a date and a time it displays in the format "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm", but if one just enters a date is displays in the format "dd/mm/yyyy". Is this possible?
Stipulating "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm" means that when you just enter a date it adds "0" values for the time e.g. entering "21/6/13" gives "21/06/2013 00:00".
General Date allows for an optional time, but it means that when you do enter a time it gives you seconds as well "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss" - and I don't want that.
I need to convert a text field containing a total amount of time (example: 128:15:52 -- 128 hour, 15 minutes, 52 seconds) as a time field. The data is imported into a database as a text field.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?
