I am trying to link the textboxes on a form so that their values are stored in 2 seperate tables.
Setting the Record Source of the Form to TableA and the various Text boxes etc are set to the Fields in that table works fine, however I want some other text boxes to be linked to another set of table fields, so that when I enter values into those text boxes the data ends up in a different table.
Has anyone any ideas on how text boxes on one form can be linked to different tables.
I currently have two froms, "add record" and "add record cont." The reason I have two seperate forms is because when clients create a new record information needs to be saved to two different tables and when creating one from with fields from both tables I ran into many problems. The two tables are named : tblMain, tblFileLoc Currently there is a textbox on both forms named "fileID" the FileID in the first form is from tblMain and is the primary key for that table, the FileID on the second form "Add Record Cont." is just a normal field. When clients enter in the new FileID in the first form "Add Record" and then move onto the next form "Add Record Cont." i need access to bring the entered FileID from the first form and Fill it in the FileID field in the second form. Currently I have tried making the control source for the textbox on the second form = the textbox on the first form but it brought up an error.
I've a database with multiple users and each user should fill in a specific textbox in a one form. there are alsow two textboxes that he needs to fill which the current date and userid.
What i want is that once the user fill in the that textbox, the datebox and userid to filled automatically.
I have a combobox which has 2 values: "kids" and "adults".
When the user selects item "kids", a textbox should display record from table named kids.And when the user selects item "adults", the textbox should display record from table named adults.
Does someone know how to validate data entered in textbox to a table? In other words: how to check the value entered in the textbox exists in the table.
why do i get all the weird problems? does anyone have any idea why a textbox would act like it was locked, even though it's not?

I have a subform on a form which I load up after the user enters a value in the main form by using the sourceobject property of the subform, the problem i have is that after reloading the main form and the user entering another value, the textbox.value of a control on the subform will sometimes not show the correct value. I am aware that textbox.value doesn't change until the after update event, however this particular textbox is just showing information that has just been queried from the database.
Hi I have a form, which displays data from a query recordsource. One of the textboxes is a "Comments" textbox, which I would like the user to write in directly, which in turn is a direct link to the data in the table so it is updated immediately.
At the moment, the textbox does not seem to be editable. Is there a standard way to do something like this ?

A textbox on a form is displaying the numeric ID value that is linked to the ID in another table (which has another field which holds the text value that I want). How do I show the actual text value that the ID relates to?
Im trying create a new form to add our current database that will password protect excel, word and if possible pdf documents when they are dragged onto it.
For now I only have 2 boxes 1 containing the password to be applied and the other to drag the file onto.
I have it all working so once its dragged on it works out if its a word doc, opens a hidden instance of word which then resaves it with a coded password.
The problem comes when change it so the user enters the password to protect it, when they enter a password or click on the drag box it doesn't allow the drag. it seems once they have entered the record the drag option is not available anymore.

In my form I have a subform, which displays A, B, C. Then information C is displayed in textbox. User should have a possibility to modify this data in order to modify data in database.
I am able to display information C in text box based on this subform. However it is uneditable, although property of enabled is yes and locked is no.
It seems to me, that it is impossible to edit data because it is taken not directly from database but from sub form, so I make special query which takes data directly from database however I lose an event which is based on selecting proper record from subform (there is only onEnter and onExit events)
I have a form with a date field, when the user creates a new record, I would like the date field to automatically fill with the most up-to-date date from the Orderdate table.
Basically I need the code to do the following when a new record is created;
Search the Orderdate table for the most recent date and then auto fill the date field on the form with that date!!!!

Any way to transfer the data in an unbound textbox into a separate table.
User enters an amount into a textbox2, and then it does some calculations that involves textbox1 and textbox2. Finally, textbox3 has the final answer. Can textbox3 overwrite textbox1's data on the table and on the form?
Also, is there an "auto date" feature in tables? If new data is put into tables, Today's date appears on the date column?
I have an Access 2010 database where we have a SQL Linked Table with a column that is nVARCHAR(20) Not Null data type. We have created a form for data entry. Currently when the user tries to erase a value or choose not to define a value we get the following error.
"You tried to assign the Null value to a variable that is not a Variant data type."
This field should accept a blank value "" as the user may not want to set the value. We do not have control over the DB schema, so how can I work around this issue in access?
I have a form, with a tab control on it. Each tab has a subform to display data. One tab is meant to be a summary tab of the rest, so I want to pull data from certain controls on each of the other tabs to display on the Summary tab.
If I set the ControlSource to Forms!subfrmLABOUR!txtTotalHours.Value the control just displays #Name?
I assume that means it can't reference the ControlSource. Is it just a syntax thing? I've tried various methods, but no luck.
