Textbox Won't Update With New Values Of Sub-form !

May 5, 2006

I have a textbox on my main form that calculates the total of a field on the sub-form. It works well and display the correct ammount on the textbox when I load up the form, but if I do changes the values of the sub-form it doesn't update at all ! I need to close and open the form again to see the changes.

How can I update the textbox so it always reflect the values on the sub-form?

Query A Table Using Multiple Values In Textbox On A Form - Not Working

Aug 7, 2013

I have a database in Microsoft access 2010. The database has a table that stores prospective customer records, and a form that is used to input a search criteria(s) via textboxes, which then queries prospective customers table and returns the records that contain the inputted search criteria(s).

An Example of Textboxes values on the search criteria form:
Textbox - name: bob
Textbox - address: Left blank
Textbox - category: car,boat,truck

I Have tried creating a query with the following

field: name
criteria: like “*” & name & “*”
field: address
criteria: like “*” & address & “*”
field: category
criteria: like “*” & category & “*”

SQL code:
SELECT customerName ,address,category
FROM prospectiveCustomers
WHERE customerName LIKE “*” & name & “*” AND address LIKE “*” & address& “*” AND category LIKE “*” & category& “*”;

That works, but only for one value in a textbox. Once there is more than one value in a textbox (e.g name: bob, smith), the query returns no records.

I have also tried splitting the values using the comma as a delimmter, then inserting the values into a new table. That is fine until one of the search criteria textboxes has been left blank. So the query I created will run, but returns no records.

SQL CODE:
SELECT prospectiveCustomers.name, prospectiveCustomers.address,prospectiveCustomers. category
FROM prospectiveCustomers, [SearchCriteria-name], [SearchCriteria-address],[SearchCriteria-category]
WHERE prospectiveCustomers.name Like [SearchCriteria-name].name AND prospectiveCustomers.address LIKE [SearchCriteria-address].address AND prospectiveCustomers.category LIKE [SearchCriteria-address].category;

Update All Records Displayed From Form Using 1 Textbox

Nov 3, 2005

Hi there,

I have a form which displays data from a combo box in the header of my form.

Each row of the detail from the form contains two values from the database.. one is called case ref and the other is a checkbox for completed.

Here is what I want to do....

1) chose which rows I want to update by selecting the checkbox (I can do this)
2) I have put another text box in the header with a button.. this box captures the case ref (I have done this bit too)
3) When the button is clicked, I want to loop through all the records displayed on the form and update those with the checkbox ticked to the value of the text box header.... now I can update one row, but how do I update all of them????

Help would be much appreciated

Update Textbox On Continuous Form Detail ??

Mar 2, 2005

Right. I have a textbox say called TextA which is bound to COl A of my table THis table is being shown as continous forms (ie a set of ros in the detail section) and for each row I want to use a VB function to calculate another value from TextA and update the Value attribute of TextB.
I can't for the life of me figure out which event I can use to trigger this function so that EVERY row of the detail section has this function applied to it. I do NOT want to ahve to mouseover or click on etc any fields, I want it all to be calculated when the form has done loading. So far the best I can come up with is OnCurrent, which is no damn use at all - it does the first record and then once loaded the record which has focus.
Please please help - I've got a long night ahead of me and this is due to be finished am tomorrow - argh!
Cheers!!

Forms :: Using Textbox In Form To Update Subform Table

May 2, 2015

I'll simplify this form to a

- textbox
- command button
- subform (showing a table with 4 fields, including an "EntryID" field but just one record)

What I'm trying to accomplish is to enter a value in the textbox (this value will be one of the EntryIDs in the EntryID field), click the command button, and the subform should refresh itself, showing the record from the table (the 4 fields) which has the same EntryID.

Forms :: Update Subform With Value From Main Form Textbox

Oct 2, 2014

I have a form called CostingForm. This form has a subform called CostingSubform. The subform's data source is a table called Costing Table. The main form has a combobox that has all the "Field names" or headers from the Costing Table that populates with the on open event. I also have a non bound textbox on the main form. What I would like to be able to do is input a value in the textbox, select a field name from the combobox and with an "update" button update the corresponding fields on the subform with the value in the textbox. Is this even possible?

Checking Values Of Textbox With Table Values

Sep 15, 2005

There is a text box in a form that user can enter the value.
How can I check if the value entered by user is already existed in the record of the linked table or not?
If the value (or record) do not exist, that new value/record will be added to
the table.
If the value do exist, just show the msgbox to indicate.

How can I do that ?

Thanks

Forms :: Update Values In A Table At Once From A Form

Feb 28, 2015

I'm making a very basic sales system for my school project and I'm currently working on the stock management part, as I said it's very basic.

My task -When the user receives a stock delivery they need to update the stock numbers. the value they need to update is the StockNumber value in the Products table. to so this I want to make a form that displays all the product names in a table with a textbox or cell next to it in which the user can enter the amount of that item that has been delivered. And at the bottom of the form there is a button which will add all these new values to the existing values.

1. There is no set number of products, the user is able to add new ones, this is preventing me from just making a separate textbox for each existing product

2. I have attached a jpeg I made in paint to illustrate how I want to the form to work as well as my system as it currently stands, there are a few unused forms and queries.

Modules & VBA :: Using Unbound Form Values To Update Table

Jul 16, 2015

I have an unbound form in which a user enters data relating to a credit dispute, and when they hit the Save button I have a sub that is intended to insert that data into a table. This is a bit out of my comfort zone, so I found some code from another forum and adjusted it to my needs. However, I'm getting errors.

The table name is tbl_complaints. The fields from the form are:

txtAcctNumber
txtClient
txtEoscarType
txtEoscarControl
cboMethodReceipt
....

My code is below.

Private Sub cmdSave_Click()
Dim StrSql As String
On Error GoTo ErrorHandler
StrSql = "INSERT INTO tbl_complaints " _
& "(ACCT_NUMBER, CLIENT_NAME, EOSCAR_TYPE, EOSCAR_CONTROL_NUMBER, METHOD_OF_RECEIPT,

[Code] ....

The error I get is error number 3075, and it says I'm missing an operator in the section that references cboResponseType, but I can't seem to figure out what I'm missing. My head is spinning from staring at these parentheses and apostrophes for so long.

Forms :: Bringing Entered Data From One Textbox On Form To Textbox On Another Form

May 17, 2013

I currently have two froms, "add record" and "add record cont." The reason I have two seperate forms is because when clients create a new record information needs to be saved to two different tables and when creating one from with fields from both tables I ran into many problems. The two tables are named : tblMain, tblFileLoc Currently there is a textbox on both forms named "fileID" the FileID in the first form is from tblMain and is the primary key for that table, the FileID on the second form "Add Record Cont." is just a normal field. When clients enter in the new FileID in the first form "Add Record" and then move onto the next form "Add Record Cont." i need access to bring the entered FileID from the first form and Fill it in the FileID field in the second form. Currently I have tried making the control source for the textbox on the second form = the textbox on the first form but it brought up an error.

Forms :: Subform Doesn't Update After Values Being Updated By Another Form

Feb 27, 2015

I'm running into an issue with my forms. I have a form that contains a subform, that contains a list of projects. This list is read-only. To update a record, you can double click on it, which opens another form filtered on this record, and which contains the fields in the first form as well as some others.

I have a command button on that last form to "Save and close", which fires up a macro that saves the record and closes the window.

Now, the issue that I'm having is that, when the window closes and I'm once again in front of the first form with the list of projects, the values of the record I changed are not updated and when I click on another record, Access tells me there's a conflict in the values and asks me if I want to keep the changes, discard them or copy to the clipboard.

It seems to consider the old values from the first form as a change, and thus asks me which to keep between these, and the actual (proper) changes I made in the dedicated form.

For the proper changes to be applied, I need to select "Drop changes".

I tried to requery the first form, also undo the changes to it after closing the window, but none of that worked.

I'm actually basing this on one of the templates, which does exactly what I want and which obviously works...

Queries :: ORDER BY - Update Values In One Table With The Values In Another Using Join

Sep 18, 2013

I have a query with an INNER JOIN and ORDER BY that is working great. Now, using the same JOIN, I need to update values in one table with the values in another. I thought it would be simple until I learned you can't do an ORDER BY with an UPDATE. Is there another way to achieve the same result? If you remove the 'ORDER BY', the statement below doesn't produce an error but the results are not correct:

UPDATE TableA INNER JOIN TableB ON (Left(TableA.CDN,6))=(TableB.CDN)
SET TableA.HCC = TableB.HCC
WHERE TableB.HCC Like '241*' AND TableB.BBB = 'X' AND TableA.CCC = "1234" AND TableA.HCC IS NOT NULL
ORDER BY TableB.HCC, TableA.CDN;

Evaluating Textbox For Null Values

Jan 31, 2005

I am having problems getting Access to evaluate whether a textbox is empty using VBA behind my form. I'm currently using Access 2000 on a Windows98 machine, but I also tested this in Access 2003 on an XP machine and got identical results.

The way Id like the code to operate is if the Product1 field is empty, the value taken from another form would be pasted there, and if it isnt empty, go to the Product2 field and if that field is empty, paste it there, otherwise go to the Product3 field, etc.

I have tried using If IsNull(Product1) Then but Access seems to think that the unbound textbox with no default value isnt empty.

I tried using If ("Product1" <> "*") Then but Access again seems to think that there is something in that unbound/no-default value textbox.

My code looks like this:
If ("Product1" <> "*") Then
DoCmd.GoToControl "Product1"
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdPaste
DoCmd.OpenForm "ActiveProduct", acNormal, "", "", , acNormal
DoCmd.GoToControl "Description"
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdCopy
DoCmd.OpenForm "Order Form", acNormal, "", "", , acNormal
DoCmd.GoToControl "ProdDescr1"
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdPaste
DoCmd.Close acForm, "ActiveProduct", acSaveNo
DoCmd.GoToControl "ProdQty1"
DoCmd.Close acForm, "Product Lookup form", acSaveNo

ElseIf ("Product2" <> "*") Then
DoCmd.GoToControl "Product2"
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdPaste

End If

I admit that my VBA skills are limited, but after having scoured these forums as well as Access help and examining the logic of my code, I am completely stumped. Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Forms :: Displaying Multiple Values In A Textbox?

Jul 30, 2013

I am designing a book collection database where each book can contain multiple authors. I used three tables; tblBooks, tblAuthors, tblBookAuthorJOIN. The tblBookAuthorJOIN allows me to create a subform with drop down combo boxes in the Books form linking multiple authors to each books indexed field. The Author table contains the usual FirstName, LastName, MiddleName fields. I would to be able to display the names of each author in the forms header but I am having difficulty.

For example a book may have two authors such as:

Authors table would contain values such as

Last Name: Grisham
First Name: John

Last Name: Twain
First Name: Mark

Textbox in header would display: John Grisham; Mark Twain

The authors would be displayed in the following format in the same order as listed in the subform datasheet.

Attached is a graphic of the form.

Hello,

I'm having a problem with one of my forms, i have created an unbound text box called Hours. In it i will type a number. Then click on a button to create a report based on this number.

what is happening though is that when i click the report button the report is blank, if i close the report and then click the button again i get the expected results. What seems to happening is that after i click the button the first time the form refreshes itself and the number is picked up.

Is there any snippit of code i could add to the print report button so it will work first time?

Update Bound Textbox ?

Sep 7, 2006

I need to have 2 textboxe son my form that are directly linked to data in a DB so that the user can type values in directly.
Unfortunately, the data for these 2 textboxes is completely separate from the main form's recordsource.

Is it possible to do this using an expression? I've tried but it only retrieves the data rather than allows you to update it.
If not, then will I have to do this through VBA code?

Textbox Update Problem

Mar 24, 2005

I have a textbox on a form in which a customername will be displayed after a combobox with customercodes is updated.

Now, I have both a change and on enter event, which should save the customername into a table.

This works fine, as long as I only have one entry in the table.

As soon as I enter a second entry, it somehow deletes the customername for the previously entry.

If this is not clear enough, maybe this will help:

table:

customercode | customername
12345 | customer a

after entering the second customercode, I get this:

customercode | customername
12346 | customer b
12345 |

so it displays only one customername a time.

Is there any way to solve this?

Thx,

Lion85heart

Modules & VBA :: Township Section Limit Values In Textbox

Sep 22, 2013

Trying to figure out during the key down event -

a.) how to also stop a leading zero (e.g. don't allow 04, but allow 4)
b.) Don't allow any combination of numbers to be outside 1 to 36

Yes, I can do this on a validate event after the fact. Just wondering if there is anything that could put this all into the KeyDown event to prevent errors in the first place.

This code works great to prevent any key entry except 0..9, Tab, and backspace

Code:
Private Sub txtSectionNumber_KeyDown(KeyCode As Integer, Shift As Integer)
Select Case KeyCode ' only accept a number 0 to 9 Backspace or Tab
Case vbKey0, vbKey1, vbKey2, vbKey3, vbKey4, vbKey5, vbKey6, vbKey7, vbKey8, vbKey9, vbKeyBack, vbKeyTab
' do nothing and accept the value
Case Else
KeyCode = 0
End Select
End Sub

In the US Western States, a survey township is simply a geographic reference used to define property location for deeds and grants as surveyed and platted by the General Land Office (GLO). A survey township is nominally six by six miles square. They are assigned numbers of 1 to 36.
