There Isn't Enought Memory To Perform This Operation. Close Uneeded Programs...

Nov 22, 2007

Hi

Has anyone ever got this error message before? I’ve never came across it and I don’t know how to fix it. The error message displayed when I added three extra labels to a form then tried running it. At the beginning, it took more time than usual to think about it then the error message was displayed. Now I can’t open my form in design view nor can I run it! It’s totally inaccessible.

The error msg is attached.

Any help will be very much appreciated,
B

Not Enough Memory To Perform Operation

Apr 10, 2014

I'm getting an error when trying to run a report. "There isn't enough memory to perform this operation. Close unneeded programs and try the operation again."

1.) I tried to install both the V-Tools and Rick Fisher add-ins, and neither one could be added. I got errors from both.

2.) I'm working with a small test database to create a report. Db is tiny, 1.8Mb. But I've also created a report which has several embedded subreports. Everything is based off of queries which certainly have to sort through some data.

3.) I have compacted and repaired.

Acc2007 W/ 2003 DB - There Is Not Enough Memory To Perform This Operation. Please...

Mar 3, 2008

Environment: Front-end Access application developed in 2003, with back-end database in 2003. Being deployed in a mixed 2003/2007 environment. Users with Office 2007 will have to open and use the 2003 Access application without converting it to Access 2007.

Problem: When I take the Access 2003 application and open it with 2007, some forms give the following error message (whether selecting Open, Layout View, or Design View):

"There isn't enough memory to preform this operation, Please close unneeded programs and try the operation again."

The real problem is some of the most complex forms open in design view, and some of the simplest do not. There appears to be no ryhme or reason to it. Some of the forms are bound and some aren't. Some of the bound forms are bound at run-time with embedded SQL, some aren't. All query objects seems to be fine, when they are used on bound forms. Some forms have significant amounts of code behind them, some do not.

All report objects execute fine with no problems opening any view.

I can open the same file in Access 2003 and everything is fine. I've compacted and repaired the DB in Access 2003, no help when I go back to 2007.

Wondering if some references are off? But I have some really simple forms that can't be opened. I find nothing on MSDN on this.

"there Isn't Enough Memory To Perform This Operation"

Jan 2, 2008

Hey all,

Hope everyone's holidays went (or still are going) well. Today's my first day back at work and I went to make a few changes to one of my databases but when I went to open one of the forms in the database (and only this form), I got the error:

"There isn't enough memory to perform this operation. Close unneeded programs and try the operation again."

This threw me back as I run a very light system (1GB memory, but 85MB boot up). I had Firefox running with GMail open and CoolPlayer (low-footprint, opensource MP3 player) playing some tunes. All other forms opened up just fine, so I closed Firefox, closed CoolPlayer and tried opening the form again and received the same error.

I decided then to close Access (2003, SP2), make a quick copy/paste backup, and restart Access. I did so, tried to open the form, and got the same error.

I then did a compact/repair, opened Access, tried to open the form, and still got the same error.

I searched around for people with a similar problem (high frequency occurrence for some) and stumbled across a Microsoft page which described the issue as fixed via hotfix post-SP1. As I am using Access 2003 SP2, I'm feeling rather discouraged.

Has anyone run across this problem before?
Does anyone have a solution as to how I should go about repairing that form?

What Programs/Software Should I Use?

May 12, 2005

I am hoping someone can give me guidance on a fairly major project I am working on.

I am responsible for producing lots of figures, charts etc. each month and the current process takes a very long time!
I have been charged with improving this process, which currently includes the following:-

Slightly changing some CSV files each month
Importing the CSV files to an Access database containing lots of other data and information
Running some queries off an SQL database and importing the results to the access database
Running a few queries in Access
Exporting the query results to Excel
Manual manipulation of the Excle files
Producing graphs and tables in excel

I am fairly experienced in Access and know a little Access VBA
I know a bit of SQL to run queries from SQL query analyzer
I have dabbled with VBA in excel
But I wouldn't really call myself a programmer

I need to automate the process as much as possible, but I am not sure which way to go. I would need a database to combine the data from CSV files and other information as current, but also need to build up a historical store of data.
I would then want some kind of front end to select the months and year to look at, plus different categories etc. then produce a table and chart to excel or easily exported to excel for distribution to other people.

Would a combination of Access and Excel using VBA be sufficient for this?
A colleague has mentioned using SQL, in particular MySQL, which is downloadable for free.
They have also said that you can develop a front end in visual basic and there are programs freely available where you can build a visual basic front end by drag and drop methods.
They also mentioned that you could build a front end using Java.

I have also read bits on this site about ASP and PHP and how they can be used as a front end with Access as a back end database.

In short, I am getting confused about which combination of tools would be best suited for this job!
Any assistant/opinions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
The output tables/charts etc. would have to be distrubuted to a large range of people in the company.
The database or front end would just be viewed by a couple of people.

Many thanks!
Sasha

Conflicting Programs: How Do I Fix This?

Nov 15, 2004

I'm having an issue with two programs. One searches the DB and emails the results, the other searches the DBand prints labels from a report. When only one is in there the program will run fine. But when I try to implementboth at once then I get an error message that is something like: The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: Ambiguous name detected: SQLSafeThe way the form is setup I am using the same text box to enter my search criteria and the same option groupbox with my check boxes for what I'm searching for both programs. Is this possibly the conflict? Am I going to haveto have seperate option groups and search criteria boxes for each program? It would be nice if I don't because thiskeeps the look of my form clean. Hi,

just starting out building a database product for mineral collectors and wanted to know what to do went it is complete.

If you want to issue the finished collectors data base as an application to other users do you need a program generator?

I have heard o the Access tollbox, does this do carry out the generation?

Thanks

Updating Programs In Separate Locations

Jan 10, 2006

Hi All,

I need some advice as to what is the best way for me to update a program in 3 different locations.

I have developed a program that I now have running in 3 separate locations. Each location uses the same program structure and tables, but they will have different data.

When I make a change to the one in our office, I would like to update the other 2 offices so that we all are using the latest version.
CURRENTLY: I make a database file with the “forms, Reports, Queries, and modules” necessary to accommodate the changes. Then I, email the file to the other offices. I then try to walk someone there at the office through; “Get Files: Import”, then delete the old files and rename the new ones. This is risky!!!!!:(

I know there is a better way of doing this, I just don’t know it.
Can some one help me on this issue?
Thanks for all your help….ENVIVA :)

Reports :: Keeps Track Of Current Status Of Various Programs

Jan 9, 2014

I have a query called "Program Status Count" that keeps track of the current status of various programs. There are three statuses: Closed, Deficient, and WIP.On the Query, I used "Total:" row and have two fields: StatusID field set to "Group By" then in the next column I have the same StatusID Field set to "Count" (it auto-renamed itself to CountofStatusID)...which on the query does what it is supposed to do:

Closed, 2
Deficient, 1
WIP, 1

When I go to the Report Design and try to make a Pie Chart (or any graph) it asks me what query I want to use, so I point it to the Program Status Count Query and select the only two fields I have in the query. This is the Row Source Code:

SELECT [StatusID],Count([StatusID]) AS [CountOfStatusID] FROM [Program Status Count] GROUP BY [StatusID];

Sometimes, it will show the appropriate fields but then it will disappear in Report View, switching to Print Preview does not fix the issue. Actually, it often deletes the correct information in the chart and use the PK autonumber instead of the words.Othertimes, the default data shows up and nothing I do changes it. I have even done the copy/paste of the query table in the report (doesn't work when the graph needs to update.

Textbox With Memory?

May 13, 2005

I have a form where my users can enter labor line items for various jobs. FOr each line item, they can specify the product and color to be installed. Now, I realize that the CORRECT way to do this is to have a table for products. However, since I am not touching inventory with this application, I am setting it up for them to simplye type it into a text box.

Is there anyway to set up the text box with "memory" so that as they type in the entry, it will start to "guess" what they want by previous entries? Similar to the way a combo box operates.

Thanks,
Hammy

Run Time Error 7: Out Of Memory

Apr 11, 2007

Im building a new database using Access 2003 SP2 on windows XP SP2 with 1 GB RAM.

When i try to execute the following line of VBA code I get an "out of memory" error:

Form_Confirmation.txtDept = cboDept.Text

Before this line of code I don't query any data or open any DAO connections, Im only checking the entered values in various text boxes and combo boxes on a form. I have also tried rebooting my computer and it still gets stuck at the same line.

What i basically want to do is just move data entered into text boxes on a shipping order form i created and present that data on another form to confirm the entered data. The error occurs when i try to move data from one form to another. The database is still only 1MB with only 5 tables, each with only a few records in them just for testing.

Do i need to install a service pack or download something to fix this error?

Memory Leak - Combo Box

Oct 20, 2006

I have 5 combo boxes on a form. Everything worked well until I had to make some changes in the tables - I had to change the data type of primary key columns from Long Integer to GUID!
Now, my combo boxes are bound to GUID data fields, and when a user scrolls through records - I have huge memory leak (about 40KB per record)!
And no matter how long you scroll through the same recordset, every time the current records is changed - I loose 40KB of my memory!

When Bound Column of Combo box is not GUID data type - I have no problem with memory leak!

Any suggestions?!?!?
What to do?

Thanks in advance!!!

Perform Lookups From Access Tables

Jan 27, 2006

Can someone please tell me if there is a way to perform lookups in Excel from an Access table without first exporting the data into Excel? I have a form that is being exported into Excel from a pricing tool our company uses from an outside vendor. It is important the users have the ability to perform complicated calculations and are not at all experienced in Access. There are several data sources that are well over the 65,000+ rows limited by Excel. I need to either prove or disprove whether it is possible to perform lookups between Office applications. If it is possible to lookup between applications, I would appreciate any sources known to learn how to do this. If not possible, I would like to be able to confirm that fact to my manager.

Thanks for any help that can be offered.

How Do Perform An Update Query From One Table To Another?

Apr 4, 2006

Hi there.
Does anyone know how to use an update query to copy some records from one table into another?
I have table1 which has all the contact details and what I would like to do is work out a process for importing records from an excel spreadsheet.
What I have so far is as follows:

1. In access go into the queries tab and select update query
2. Open both table1 and table2
3. Drag the fields to be updated (table1)
4. In Update to select [table2].[table2 column name]

When i run this nothing appears to happen. 0 records are appended.
Does anyone now how to go around this with another solution or should I be using other SQL methods?

All comments much appreciated
Thanks

Store Data From Query In Memory

Mar 11, 2006

Sorry if this is an elementary question, but here goes.

What I want to do is have Access run a query based on the user name "taken from a login screen". That query will return some values such as what team the Supervisor is responsible for, what days off his team has etc...

This information will be used to display all other queries that particular sup runs. When another sup signs in obviously the results will be different

And onto the problem

I have the query running and displaying the result in a datasheet view. I created this to see if the queries work. Now what I would like is to do away with this query (it pops up at startup) and have access save the user name in memory instead of running this query. I also need to figure out how to reference this "user name" piece of data, that will be in memory on the queries.

would appreciate any help you can give on this topic. I have been trying to solve this issue for a loooooong time.

thanks again,

Ricky

Memory Error Message In Access 97

Mar 10, 2005

Hi...can you help?

I have a multi-user MS Access97 database application. It is causing one of the users (and I have only once had the error message myself) the following error message:

"There isn't enough free memory to update the display. Close unneeded programs and try again."

This error message occurs when the user is doing data entry via the forms and navigating between forms in the database. The form, on which the error occurs becomes oversized and does not display all the information. The user is forced to shut down the database, re-open it, and then it works fine....but eventually the error re-occurs.

I found Microsoft's article 236977, but it applies to working with Forms in Access 2000. This problem is happening in Access 97, and none of the causes listed in the article apply.

Has anyone every come across this....and do you know of a solution?

Thanks,
BJS
