Time Data In Query Condition
Mar 25, 2008
Hello,
I've faced a - for me - tricky problem when I've created a query from code. I have an MS SQL backend and in it there is a table which has a long time format field. I want to make an sql query where the condition is a time data. Unfortunately when I enter a time which is surely in the table, there is no result of the query. I've tried to solve it on several ways, time formatting, etc., but I had always the same result, to wit no result.
Does anyone idea, how could I solve it?
Any tips are appreciated very much!
Many thanks in advance!

I have an invoice set in a lovely form using Microsoft Access. Each of the invoice there is an option on the top called Paid, ones I check the paid it will stamp it as paid, how do I make it such as, it will copy the paid ONLY record into a summary cheat, which is a report? It have to be copied into a table of course, but I want to copy from the entire invoice which include
Invoice numer, data, name, addres,s blah blah, all I want to be copied is just the number, the name and the total balance and I want that information only to be copied into the table by clicking the Paid check on the form. My other question, how do I delete THAT PERTICULAR record that was copied from the invoice into the new table? Thanks in advance.
Please if possible? Could you explain it as easy as possible with me with as much as examples and easy to read? I am a little slow, thanks. I thank you all again for your help in advance.

hi ppl,
Could someone please help me with a query that I'm trying to create.
I need to create a query where once the DATE is overdue/expired how can i turn it into a red colour or something just to separate it from others.
e.g:
Length = 3
DateCleared = 31/01/2001
DateRenewal = 30/01/2004
--- obviously this date has expired and now i need to make it visible that it has expired. So I was thinking either turn it red.
thankyou.. :( :confused:
Ps. In order to create DateRenewal I used a formula by using the Length to calculate three years from the DateCleared.

Hi there, I currently have the below tables:
tbl_stores
ID NAME
123 Store A
456 Store B
tbl_returns
ID NAME RETURN
123 Store A 9999
123 Store A 8888
789 Store C 9999
I want to find the stores that exist in the stores table, but not in the returns table WHERE the RETURN is equal to 9999. This would hopefully return 456 Store B
My problem is when I put a condition in my query it returns nothing as the condition is based on the left joined table.
SQL
SELECT tbl_stores.store, tbl_stores.name
FROM tbl_stores LEFT JOIN tbl_returns ON tbl_stores.store = tbl_returns.store
WHERE tbl_returns.store Is Null AND tbl_returns.survey_id=2
GROUP BY tbl_stores.store, tbl_stores.name, tbl_returns.store
Any ideas? Thanks for your help with this one!
Cheers
Tony

Im trying to build a query that checks four fields for blanks. If I try to run the query with the criteria Is Null for all four fields, I only get 27 records. However, if I run the query with the condition only on one field I get the right number of records around 1000. I have been having to run four independant queries and then merge them in Excel. What am I doing wrong?

I have a database with 3 tables. Each table has an account number field however the tables are completely different as are the account numbers that populate them. To go with the tables are queries that will bring in desired information. What i would like is for the user to input an account number on a form and have some code in the background that will find the account number in the table it is in and open the corresponding query. Is this possible? Thanks for the help. I have been trying to write code with DLookup but can't seem to get it to do what I want.

I am trying to copy notes from one table to another table where a condition has to be met and I can't figure out how to do that in an APPEND query.
Each record has a unique number that comes into my Initial Table in my Access database from a construction program I download. In this particular table both the [DNJTNo] and [DNVersionNmbr] fields can have duplicate numbers. However, when I run the query I want it to add a record to the second table only after the query checks that the [DNJTNo] in combination with the [DNVersionNmbr], is not already in the table. If it is, I do NOT want it appended to the second table. (I have attached a picture of the query in APPEND design stage).

I am creating a search function to search a name. The DB stores it as [First Name] , [Last Name].... This query works
Code:
SELECT *
FROM tblVolunteers
WHERE ((([First Name] & " " & [Last Name]) Like "*bob j*"));
It will show me records for Bob Johnson, Bob James and Bob Jones....
I am trying to duplicate this with a DoCmd.OpenForm statement... Replacing the static name with a field variable...
Code:
Dim whereClause As String
whereClause = "[First Name]" & " " & "[Last Name] Like " '*" & volunteerName & "'*""
DoCmd.OpenForm "Volunteers", acNormal, , whereClause, , , False

I have to three fields in my query wizard, lets call them A and B and C. The condition for the query is either A or B is Null and C is Null. Im not sure how to do this though becuase A, B and C are different fields. I wrote
Code:
Is Null
.
under the criteria of A and B and C, but this specifies that A,b and C is Null, how can I make it so that C must be Null and either A or B or Both.

I have a form that request information from the user (StartDate, StartTime, EndDate and EndTime) the problem is that it's not working. The only way I can get any data to show is when I remove the StartTime and EndTime. Only then will it pull the items from the StartDate and EndDate.
Here is what I have as my criteria: Between [Forms]![OpPROD_ALL]![StartTime] And [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![EndTime] And Between [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![StartDate] And [Forms]![ OpPROD_ALL]![EndDate]
The users will be able to request a report based on a start and end date along with a start time and end time.
Side note: this is to pull date for 3rd shift (Example) 4/14/2013 10:00PM - 4/15/2013 10PM

I'm trying to have a single or multiple query criteria based on what the user checks on a form.
I can't get the True condition to work at all, I get no records. Here is what I'm using
IIf([Forms]![FrmAttendanceLogsRpt]![BlkFilter]=-1,[TempVars]![EID] Or 86,[TempVars]![EID])
If I just put
[TempVars]![EID] Or 86
in the Criteria it works just fine.

Hello buddies :D, do you have any idea how to make this work?
To select data that falls within this criteria of date range between cboDate and cboDate2 (fields on my form). The date in [tblJobDetails]![timeIn] come in this format "08/17/06 10:24 AM", but the cboDate/cboDate2 (takes in date only e.g 08/17/06) what i am after is to evaluate specific hard coded time in addition to the date entered, i.e. even tho, i haven't entered time on the cboDate/cboDate2, I want specific time hard coded where e.g If i select a date range of 08/17/06 and 08/18/06 on my cboDate and cboDate2 it should really be evaluating: 08/17/06 8:00 AM to 08/18/06 8:00 AM.
This is the criteria i curentlly have on my query in design view tha works perfect in selecting date only.
([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Is Null) And ([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Is Null)
How can I incorporate 8:00am to 8:00am into my cboDate and cboDate2. What can i do to make this happen? Your kindness will be greatly appreciated http://www.naijaryders.com/forums/images/smilies/thankyou.gif

I have an application with a backend db on PC 1, and the same application on PC 2 linked to the backend db on PC 1 via the network.
The link works fine but the time formats are different.
On PC 1 the time format is shortime and displays as it should i.e. in 24 hour clock format
However on PC 2, opening the same database via the network, the time format is still shorttime but when you read the time within the code it comes out in AM/PM format. Also, when the defaul tiem should be #20:00:00# but this changes to #8:00:00 PM#
Weirdly though, when you just open the table, the times are in the correct shorttime format.
Guessing, it must be a setting within the main core of Access 2003 that is different between the 2 instances?
Any ideas?
This screen shot may help:

Hi, I have a form which is made up for 3 tables and I am trying to create an append query for each one in order to keep records of data before it is updated. The append queries seem to work but they append all data rather than just one selected record. I know I will next need to create a macro which can be used each time a record has been updated and a copy is sent to the archive. Can anyone help me with this, or have any useful suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi - I'm working on a query, and can't seem to get it to work correctly. I have a table which contains 2 social security number fields - one for a dependent/employee with benefits, and one for the originally insured (for example, if an employee passed away, the dependent would be on the file, and the originally insured data would be populated with the original employees data). There are also cases where the employee and dependent exist in the table at the same time. I need to check the table, record by record, to identify any cases where the two SSN's are the same in any given record. The query is currently finding an employee's SSN on their record, and also finding it in the originally insured field of the dependent's record and showing it as an error. I only need to know if they occur for the same record, not for another record in the table. (I hope this makes sense!!!)
Is there any way that I can do this??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I have a form that asks 2 questions. Date and Account. I need to check a table to see if the combination of both date and account have not been used. Date is normally today, can be yesterday. Account has a drop down menu with 6 choices. If both the date and account have been used then there should be an error shown to that effect. If not used, then proceed on to the next form for data entry.
Can this be done? And how?

Hi,
I am using this code below to retrieve the last updated time on the tablea.
lbl_DataLastUpdated.Caption = "Data last updated: - " & Format(CurrentDb.TableDefs("ATM_Info").LastUpdated, "dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm")
This works but the problem i have is, when i add an entry via a form or do anything else via a form. This does not get updated?. I check the properties of the table and that isn't either.
When i then modify something manually in the table (go in and change it). It then updates.
Is there something im doing wrong or is there a better way to check the last updated.
Thanks
