Dear All:

I have created a form with a checkbox. This checkbox returns a message when checked. Is it possible that when this check box is checked that specific text can appear on ANOTHER text box on the same form? The name of the desired textbox is called "NOTES."

Sorry about using checkbox repeatly!

Any ideas on how to get started?

Thanks in advance,

Count Records Problem. Display Field Even When Count Is Zero.

Apr 13, 2006

I have a table tblBookings.

In this table it has a bookingID, CustomerID and some other none relevant details.

The CustomerID comes from table tblCustomer. i.e a customerID must exist in the customer table to be allowed in the bookings table tblBookings

A customer can exist in tblCustomer without existing in the booking table.

I am trying to write a query that will list each and every customer ID in the tblCustomer and count the number of bookings that that customer has (even if it is zero).

I have a query that will count the bookings if they exist in the booking table and display the number of times that a customer appears in the bookings table.

SELECT tblBookings.CustomerID, Count(tblBookings.CustomerID) AS NoOfBookings
FROM tblBookings
GROUP BY tblBookings.CustomerID;

How do I create a query that will do this but list all customers even if they don't exist in the bookings table (but obviously occur in the customers table)

I am trying to create a similar query where all bookings per hotel are listed even if no bookings are made for that hotel. I am guessing the answer is the same as above.

The Ritz. Bookings 0
The Hilton. Bookings 3
The Carlton. Bookings 0
The Lowry. Bookings 2

For every hotel.

That kind of thing.

If you need more information please shout.

Is This Possible - Field Count Within Form?

Apr 7, 2008

I have attempted to create a chart in Access and it does work to a degree, but I get the strange sample chart in design view and can see charting the data in my database to be troublesome.

I've had a "brainwave".

I'd like the user to have a command button to bring up a form screen or a report screen and for it to have some data in it.

I have a field 'Reason' and it's text box is actually a combo box containing around 9 different values.

I'd like my form/report to list these values then next to it tells the user how many are displayed.

Below is just three things that is in the 'Reason' combo box. I have around 9 different ones in total.Notice on the right I have example numbers. Is there a way to do calculate this?

Thanks.

Problems With The Count Function On A Form

Jul 9, 2005

I have a query with 2 fields.

The first is called:TypeOfMedia: Left([MediaID],1)
Grouped BY
Result
C
D
G

The second is called: CountOfProducts: Count(*)
Expression
Result:
1
15
1

This query has counted the number of CDs, DVDs and Games entered. The first letter of the MediaID fields indicates what type of product it is. A typical DVD entry would be: D2387

I now need to implement the totals on a form with other fields such as the name of the DVD.

The other fields are:

Ptitle: text
Type: text
Cost: currency
Penalty: currency

The trouble I am having is to successfully implement a count procedure where I can have three fields each showing how many of the various products there are, open at the same time.

Would any of my esteemed colleagues out there have a solution to this problem?

Regards
Terence

Record Count Before Opening Form

Feb 16, 2006

Guys

I've searched the database and found similar problems but don't understand the replies (mainly DCount()).

I have a control form where a user can search the database by entering information. The form asks them to type some text that will appear in a description field, and match any records with the same text.

However, when the user types the text and clicks the button to open the form (which is linked to a query searching the description field), I want a message box to say no records found before opening the form. Mainly because when it doesn't find a matching record, the form opens with a new autonumber.

I either want a matching record to appear, or a dialog box saying no matching records found and the form not opening therefore not creating a number that is not used.

I tried in the command button entering if recordcount>0 then openform but it doesn't like the else statement or doing a if recordcount=0 underneath.

Any ideas?

Display Count Of Fields In Form.

Jul 21, 2006

Is it possible to have a count of all records matching a certain criteria displayed on the form?

I have to schedule customers for certain dates but never know how many have been scheduled by date while in the form. I am not sure how to reference the field from the table to be counted. I have several unbound boxes with:

=date()&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()
=date()+1&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()+1
=date()+2&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()+2
etc.

not sure what to use for {XXXX}

As always, any help is appreciated.....

Someday I will contribute some answers instead of questions.....

Queries :: Using Count And MIN Together To Retrieve Only MIN Record With Count

Aug 16, 2015

I have a table that has 5M+ accounting line entries. Below is an example of one accounting journal in the table.

BUSN_UNIT_IJRNL_DJRNL_ICNCY_CMONY_A
CB0014/07/20140002888269323AUD16797
CB0014/07/20140002888269323AUD-16797
CB0017/07/20140002888269323AUD16797
CB0017/07/20140002888269323AUD-16797

The journal ID above was an accounting entry, debit $16,797 and credit $-16,797. because it was entered as a reversing journal in the system, the table has captured the Journal ID with 2 dates. For my purpose i only want the one date (MIN) date, the total amount of the journal (either the debit or credit amount 16,797) and the total number of lines the journal ID has so in this instance I want the count to be 2 and not 4.

Right now this is what i get

BUSN_UNIT_I JRNL_I CNCY_C SumOfMONY_A CountOfJRNL_I MinOfJRNL_D
CB001 0002888269 AUD 0 4 4/07/2014

This is the output i would like

BUSN_UNIT_I JRNL_I CNCY_C SumofMONY_A CountofJRNL_I MinOfJRNL_D
CB0010002888269323 AUD16797 2 4/07/2014

Im thinking with the total sum because theres debits and credits is there a way to do the absolute value of the journal MONY_A then divide by 2?

current SQL
SELECT [One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I, [One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C, Count([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I) AS CountOfJRNL_I, Min([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_D) AS MinOfJRNL_D, [One Year Data Lines].BUSN_UNIT_I, Sum([One Year Data Lines].MONY_A) AS SumOfMONY_A
FROM [One Year Data Lines]
GROUP BY [One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I, [One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C, [One Year Data Lines].BUSN_UNIT_I
HAVING ((([One Year Data Lines].JRNL_I)="0002888269") AND (([One Year Data Lines].CNCY_C)="aud"));

The criteria for the text box field is set to true to list all that are checked. I want the query to show all the records that are true. This works if I run the query, but the result isn't showing in my text box on the form. On the form text box properties in Control source I have =DLookUp("[Run Number]","Control Room Drumctqry"). Run Number is the field that I am counting, Control Room Drumctqry is the query. Any idea as to what I am doing wrong?

What I am wanting to do is for example look at the table 'orders' and count all 'orders' which are for the 'Customer' in the active form this field is imaginatively called 'Customer Number' and 'orders' that are for simplicity 'rocks'

Basically if the client in the active form exists in the orders field count how many times they have placed an order for rocks.

Forms :: How To Use Count Function In Navigation Form

Jun 1, 2014

I want to be able to use the Count function that will reside in the header of the main navigation form that will count the records in each navigation sub form (of which there are 6 sub forms)

Each sub form has the same primary key which is what I am doing the count on.

I have done this on another form with no subforms by creating a Textbox with this code: =Count([PCNumber])

I have tried to put this in the header of the main navigation form with various itterations, the last being: =Count([Form]![NavigationSubform].[PCNumber])

But what ever I do seems to come up with "Error" in the textbox.

For info, the form names are:

Main form :StockViewsForm
Subform:NavigationSubform

PCNumber being the PK I want to count.

Is this possible of do I need to specify the names of the actual forms that reside in the Navigation Sub Form ??

Count Blank Fields Then Output Result To Form

Mar 18, 2007

Hi Have scoured the forum and have found people with a similar problem, but I just can't seem to get my head round this.

Basically I have a table with various fields, one of these fields is a sign off field where the user enters their name once the record has been reviewed.

I want to count all the records that do not have a name entered in this particular field thus are null/blank. I then want this figure to appear on a form thus representing the total number of records still to be reviewed.

I have tried doing this with various methods with no joy.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Modules & VBA :: Displaying Count In Unbound Textbox On A Form

Mar 10, 2014

I have a form, which is bound to a table, with an unbound textbox.

I am trying to get the number of months an employee has/had worked.

In the table are two dates, Company Start Date, and Resignation Date.

There are three scenarios in which I need to calculate the months:No Resignation Date

A Resignation Date in the future
A Resignation Date in the Past

See attached PDF

The Employees are under a one-year contract which ends the day before the one-year anniversary.

I originally tried using DateDiff in the Control Source, but the IIF seamed too limited for my needs.

Code:

If [Resignation Date] = "" Then
If Month([Nichii Gakkan Start]) = Month(Date) Then
If Day([Nichii Gakkan Start]) < Day(Date) Then
MIS = DateDiff("m", [Nichii Gakkan Start], Date) - 1

[Code] ....

MIS = The name of the textbox in question.

Forms :: Login Form Time And Reset Count

Jul 1, 2014

I have a login form that closes automatically after a specified time if you do not login with user name and password. It also keeps track of how many times you login and whatever value you set for a password reset it forces you to change when that value is met.

Problem: If you do not login within the allotted time even though a password change has been scheduled, my code resets the login count back to 0.

This is what i want to get around if I can. Either I have to pause the timer or stop the reset.

After you enter the password is when the login count is fired.

And also when it checks if a new password is required.

Table Field Not Accepting Data From Form Function COUNT.

Table Field not accepting data from the Form function, count.

On the Form with the properties displaying the field, in the Control Source I have the following formula; "= count([OccupantName])

Now this does calculate properly except that the data in not saved to the table field.

Is the above count statement wrong?

Or does this need to be done another way? If so how?

Does anyone know of another way to have the computer count information on a Form that can be saved to a table field?

Forms :: Count Or Sum From Values In Multiple Text Boxes In Form

May 24, 2014

I am trying to improve a work process using an existing Access DB.We have a form with multiple texts boxes on it. I need to search through these boxes to determine the total number of occurrences of a specific value. This is not tied to a table.

The text boxes I'd be searching through all have related names: "Element0" to "Element40". And I'd most likely be looking for a "/" within the value in the boxes (value could be 12345/01, for example).Would then be using the result in VBA to apply some conditions, so I would prefer if I could do the count in VBA (the count/sum is the part that is hanging me up.)

I've found multiple ways to accomplish this from a table, but nothing for what I have to work with.I am unclear in my description of what I am trying to do, let me know and I will try to provide more information.

General :: Display Count Of Today Occurrence From A Table In A Form?

Apr 21, 2015

My database contains a table that has two fields named 'occurance1' and 'occurance2', both containing a range of different dates. In a form I have in that database, I would like to have a field displaying the total counts for both 'occurance1' and 'occurance2', but only the count for both occurances that have 'Today' as a date. Preferably without having to run yet another query, so if possible I would like that as soon as an occurance that has 'today' as a date is entered in the table, the total count shows correctly in the form.
