View RepliesHelp! I'm not sure how I did this, but NO matter what database I go into i can see any toolbar or menu bar. Yes I tried the shift key. How do I turn it all back on?
When I right click I can get the database startup properties, everything has the check, yet I can't see any toolbars or menu bars. I've searched though the help, and I can't see to find out how to put it back.
I use Access 2007.I have a db split in FE(forms, queries, vbcode) & BE(tables only).I want users not to be able to view or explore the tables, the queries, the form design and details, in both Ends.Unfortunately, even disabling via VB code the menus, the db window, the tool & status bars, they appear and are accessible to the users (it only works in a non-split db, turned to an accde).
How can I disable any view on forms, queries, vbcode and tables details and data to users, in both FE and BE and only allow them to add data through specific form?
Greetings.
I am pulling my hair out trying to create a customized menu bar. Eventually, I want to have a customized menu bar and tool bar for report and different customized menu bar and tool bar for forms. I created the tool bar for the report window. Then when I tried to create a new menu bar I could not remove menu selections without removing the same menu selections from the default Menu Bar.
I selected View->Toolbars->Customize...
Then I clicked on New (command button)
Then I named it (RptMenuBar)
Then I selected 'Built-In Menus' from the Commands Tab
Then I dragged the 'File' from the Command list into the new Menu Bar
Then I went to the new menu bar and dropped down the selections under File and started to left click and drag what I didn't in the NEW MENU BAR. However, it turns out when I did that the same selections were removed from the default Menu Bar.
I was ablel to restore the default Menu Bar. But I want to have a customized Menu Bar and be able to select that new Menu Bar and associate it with every Report that is in my Database.
Any ideas? If you have some good instructional references, please point me in that direction. Thanks.

Hi,
For i = 1 To CommandBars.count
If (CommandBars(i).name <> "Right Click Mouse") Then
CommandBars(i).Enabled = False
End If
Next i
I tried to use this code.
However, right click mouse is disable.
How can I disable all menus except the right click mouse option?
Thanks.
I can't use the menu TOOLS because it is deactivate for all mdb.
Is it deactivated from portion of VBA code?
How Can I restore this menu?

Hey..
I'm having a rather strange problem that no one can fix, apparently. My teacher is even baffled :S.
Basically, I created a custom menu bar, took off some of the defaults, but now I am having a problem. I deleted the original custom menu bar and now I am posed with the following error when my database is loaded (I am using an autoexec script that opens the switchboard).
Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks a lot, again, guys :).
Hello Everyone,
Before I pose my question I would first like to applaud and thank this forum for the excellent and timely help it has provided me so far. The assistance I have received to date, from you as members, and via the search facility has been extremely helpful particularly as I am new to this type of stuff…
My question is this...
I would like to disable users from selecting the 'Edit - Delete Record' facility from my main form upon its load. From searching the various forums I found a method upon which to disable the whole 'Edit' menu but not the specific 'Delete Record' function. Please accept my sincere apologies if this has already been posted but I simply cannot find it readily via a standard/refined 'search'. It might be the fact that I am phrasing the question incorrectly?? I don't want to severely restrict my users by disabling/hiding the whole menu but would rather limit them to accessing this option via a password protected command button?
What I have found so far.
Private Sub Form_Load()
CommandBars("Menu Bar").Controls("Edit").Visible = False
End Sub
Any assistance/guidance would be very much appreciated
Kind Regards – Best wishes to all of the registered site members

I have created a front end and put into production for my users but I want to reduce the amount of menu bar options they see so someone cant click on a button wondering what it does and mess something up. What is the best way to reduce the amount of options a user sees on the menu bars when they open the front end of the db?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know that ever since 2007 custom menus are not well supported as in 2003. From what I've read, outside to using 2003 to make changes, a person can create/update the menus using Commandbars in VBA.
Some coding to use Commandbars to create/update menus/toolbars for Access 2007/2010? It seems possible to do that, although I would expect it would be a lot of work. I've seen a few one-off examples to do specific updates, but so far nothing that would approach what was available in 2003.
I am currently in the process of creating a pop-up menu to allow my users to do some simple text formatting.I have used the following code to do so:
Code:
Dim cmbShortcutMenu As Office.CommandBar
' Create the new pop-up menu instance
Set cmbShortcutMenu = CommandBars.Add("popupFormatMenu", msoBarPopup, False, True)
' Add the bold button
[code]....
The problem is that I now want to add the FontColor picker control and I keep getting an error.I think the problem lies in the type of control I want to add. According to the Microsoft support files I downloaded the fontColor control is of type Gallery and ID = 11949, so the code should look something like this:
Code:
cmbShortcutMenu.Controls.Add Type:=msoControlButton, id:=11949
I need to replace msoControlButton with something else.
i am wanting to find some way of turning off the menus and toolbars in a startup macro and is it possible to turn off the warning messages that appear when appending or deleting rows in a table. many thanks
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a multi-user db. There are actually 3 computers all on a windows network that access the db, which is located on my hard drive. The computers are in different offices.
I've asked the users to please close the db when they are leaving for the day - so that it does not remain open - and lock me out of design mode. But they sometimes forget and leave the db open.
When I come in in the morning (I'm the first one here) I sometimes have to walk to their offices and close the db manually.
Is there any way to close the app from my computer - so that all instances of the db are closed? Perhaps even a button somewhere with vba code that would do it?
Hi, I have a query with a 'many to one' join from a table of selected part numbers I want to look at which includes new part numbers with no current order numbers, to a master order table with all order numbers raised against all part numbers. The query returns null values for the new part numbers with no orders. This is what I want to see and the order numbers are stored as text.
I have converted these to numbers using CLng as I need use them in caluculations that only require adding or subtracting - (no DIV#0 issues). However, the nulls are returning '#Error' in the calculated fields which creates a type mismatch issue when filtering or setting other criteria. All fields used in the calculations are numeric.
I do not really have any knowledge of SQL, but is there a way to make the '#Error' values show as zero or something else I could work with.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
I am using Office 2003. I tried entering this line of VB code :
Dim Db As Database
but got the following error :
Compile error : User defined type not defined
checked the net, which said to open the module window, go to Tools>References and check the DAO 3.06 box... but it said in Office 2003 i dont need to do this...Anyway i tried looking at the references but DAO 3.06 is not even there... pls tell me what to do
I've had a search and can't find anything along these lines...
I've got some code which plays about with reports and it looks awful when it's running - is there an equivalent of Excel's "Application.ScreenUpdating = False" functionality in Access (2000)?

Hi Guys,
I'm not sure this would be allowed as it could be maliciously abused, but what I want to do is turn of warnings when a user fires up my DB.
What currently happens is a user gets 3 pop up warnings in a row the first time they use the DB with essentially the same warnings and "do you want to run this" questions.
The next time the user runs the DB they only get one warning.
On another thread I was told how to turn warnings on and off within the database:
http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=499732#post499732
'Turn warnings on & Hourglass on
DoCmd.SetWarnings False
DoCmd.Hourglass True
Code in routine that would generate warnings goes here.
'Turn warnings on & Hourglass off
DoCmd.SetWarnings True
DoCmd.Hourglass False
What I would like is some way to replicate the functionality for the DB. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance,
Keith.
How can I make the default zoom of the Report to 100%. Is there any way?
Thanks,
I have made two main menus, one for admin and one for users, I want to turn these into switchboards. When you open a form asking you to log in opens if you supply the right password it opens another form depending on your access rights depends which menu it opens, it all works perfectly but I want a home button, i.e. close all open forms, which would close the main menu, so I need to turn the main menus into switchboards, I have tried searching this place and I have also tried google although I may aswell have stuck my head out an open window and shouted for help!
Any way any help much appreciated

Basically what I want to do is create a form that combines 2 tables. For example, I want to be able to display a name, then display and be able to scroll through all information associated with that name. For instance, if the name had more than one address, how would I create that form with the right relationships and with the scroll bars? Thanx
