Hi,
Is it possible to filter out entries beginning with a capital letter with a query?
Ive tried Like UCase, but that doesn't work, and there is no upper case wild card.
(I am creating a book index and want to have a look only at the entries that are people's names)
many thanks
Just been searching around, found a few posts of uppercase questions, none that quite fit with mine, anyway,
Basically, the data I am working on produces names as such "JoeBloggs" "FredPerry"
Anyway, Im going to use a query to seperate these out into first name and last name, but, I can't seem to find a way to specify a capital letter as a wild card. So far:
CapPos: InStr(2,[calllogs]![CalledNumber],"A")
Then I am going to use the mid function to seperate the two, depending on the position of the first capital letter.
But I just need to replace "A" with something that will find any capital letter.
Cheers
I have a field in the table that contains numbers and a mix of upper and lower case words.
I would like to have this to it check for numbers and then makes the first letter in a word upper case and the remainder lower case.
I know you can do it like this >L<????????? but that dow not work if the word lengths are different. Unless I am missing soemthing.
Example of text in field is this:
100 RCSCC MAJOR PAIN
I would like the RCSCC to remain in UPPERCASE and then move to the next work and change the first letter to UPPER CASE and the remaining letters lower case then repeat this on the next word if there is one in the field.
Thanks for all your help.
Is there away to change what is in the table field [surname] to the first letter being upper case and the remaining letters lower case.
Thanks
Sorry I found it. Just in a little rush.. Should have looked harder.
Hi All, A quick question..
Is there a quick way to change about 5000 primary keys fields from lower case to uppercase?
Thanks Anna :)
Hi All,
I want to change existing entries in a table to upper case format. I know that it is possible with a query (update I suppose) using an expression with the "UPPER" function. But I am not quite sure how to implement it in Access. A little help would be welcome...
I have a database containing a mixture of upper and lower case input. I can make upper case appear on the screen by using > in the format box in the property section for each field. This works great but the same old uncorrected stuff remains on the database. How can I get the database to store the corrected upper case data after I have entered it in lower case?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a small issue where I do have names written in UPPER CASE, I would like to transform them in Capitalized (each word), I understand that I cannot use the same function as in excel (PROPER) but something like StrConv, but as I do have a ‘comma’ in between the names I have something like that
Code:
StrConv(Left(Tbl_Telephony_Temp.Agent, InStr(Tbl_Telephony_Temp.Agent, ",")-1), 3)&", "&StrConv(Mid(Tbl_Telephony_Temp.Agent, InStr(Tbl_Telephony_Temp.Agent, ",") + 1), 3) AS CompleteName
Which as you can see is quite a complex statement, how can I simplify it?
Example of a name: VITOR, FONSECA, preferable output, Vitor, Fonseca
Is there someone who can help me please???
I have a list with data like below
S123
s123
E456
e456
I would like to keep them separated when I do a grouping via a query, but Access does not seem to be open to case-sensitive characters. Who can help me???
Thanks!!

2 character -> from 01,02,03,04 to 05

The Sequential Number must reset on each new day.

I am creating a database with over 500 entries. One thing that would speed up the process of entering all of this data manually would be if I could type in the birth date and the age would be automatically calculated. Is there any way this can be done? It is all in the same table.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've attached a rudimentary example db to give an example of what I'm trying to achieve.
There is a form on the db called Resourcing with several combos.
When I choose a Training_Type from the first combo it automatically filters the Project_Title combo to show only the projects that match that training type. When I choose a Trainer_Name the text box for team automatically completes.
The bit I'm struggling with is Trainer_Name. As you will see from the table Course_Details not every trainer can deliver every Project_Title. So what I want is to display only the trainers associated with the project title chosen rather than displaying the whole team in the Trainer_Name combo.
Someone suggested a junction table but I'm not sure how this would answer my question. I'm thinking some sort of Dlookup but don't know how I would write it when it has to include data from four fields.
Here is what I am trying to do. I have a query with 2 fields. "Time In" & "Time Out". What I would like to happen is this. Whenever a character, let's say a "t", is entered into that field I would like the current time to populate that field. Right now we are actually typing in the time. I have the fields set up as DateTime fields currently.

Default text like 12345
Hi!
I have a field that has to be 20 Characters long. Most of the time data for this field is less than 20 characters, so the remaining has to be filled with spaces to make it 20. e.g. if there is a record xyz1234567, then the rest of the record should have 10 spaces like xyz1234567ssssssssss, meaning if i click on this record then the cursor should not blink after 7 but after the spaces. Hope I am making sense.
Thanks for any input.
I have a field which looks like this - "d123456", I will have to display the field without the "d" in front, meaning I will need to show "123456" Any idea how I can do this? Thanks!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a drop down list box on my form called FieldA. I would like for FieldB to update with a number depending on what is in FieldA. For example, if FieldA has Red, I would like FieldB to return a 2. I know this needs to have a case function done, but how do I get it linked to FieldB?

I have imported a large contacts table from an old database. The Name field has had all the names input as JOE BLOGGS etc. I can force the table to read joe bloggs etc using < in the format box in properties for this field. But I want the names to read in the Joe Bloggs format, first letter in each name being upper case. Is there an easy way of doing this.
Just got back in to databases after 15 years so wee bit lost at the moment.:o

I have a large table (over 20,000 records) where the text fields were all set at 255 - even those requiring a single character entry. Is there a way to determine the highest existing character count for each field so I can set the text fields to a reasonable setting? After a compact and repair will existing records be set to the new setting?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find the position of a "," in a data field.
I was trying the SEARCH function I found in Help "SEARCH(',',[emplname])", but I am getting "Undefined function 'SEARCH' in expression." when I run the query.

I need help with a required field that has different character lengths.
I have an input mask that covers the first 7 characters, however, the users are still entering the incorrect policy numbers, I need to put a stop to it.
I have 3 different policy number lengths involved, 7, 8 and 9.
They are different kinds as well, alpha, alpha/numeric and numeric.
Example below:
P###### - 7 characters
02###### - 8 characters
02M##### - 8 characters
NX####### - 9 characters
HX###### - 8 characters
HXL##### - 8 characters
HXM##### - 8 characters
My question is this -- do I have to create 7 different forms or can I program it to accept only the certain (policy#) characters above. Or can I create a query to insert into my form.
Any help is appreciated, Thanks as always.
