I'm trying to produce a report which uses a static deisgn and does not change. For example,I require in the detail of the report a table say 3 * 8 ....and in the report I need the data to fill each one of these cells. However I may not have 8 records , therefore I need the remaing columns/cells empty - the design of 3 * 8 must not change... at the moment I have a dynamic design so if i have 3 records I have 3 *3 table leaving a massive gap on the report.

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?

I am new to MS access 2007 but not new to Access. I am trying to open a form in the design view but that option is disabled along with other menu options. I checked the Ribbon and it appears to be a custom toolbar. I deleted that out of the box but I'm still unable to view the design of any objects. How do I enable the menu items?

Im trying to work on an db in Access 2007 that was migrated from Access 2003 (in fact its been migrated several times starting from Access 97). It executes and runs with no problems in both versions.
The problem is when trying to open some queries (not all) - Access is unable to open the query in design mode and gives me this error :
" is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid characters or punctuation and that it is not too long.
However, as I cant open it - I cant check it. Im pretty sure none of the fields have invalid characters (they do have spaces) and Im not sure how long is too long....

I can't seem to size any of my charts to 100% of their object's size. I've attached screen shots of a chart in Design View, the chart properties, Chart Design View, and Print Preview. I've tried all of the Size Mode options.

I created a database to set-up contracts, record receipt and issue of drawings and generate procurement schedules for construction projects. The database has been in use for over a year and I have only now encountered an unforeseen problem, the fix for which is beyond my skillset. I am unable to generate the reports as I have done for the other projects in the database.
The problem is in the Drawing Registers section. When the drawings are issued, I have to log the date they were received, the drawing number, drawing title, revision letter/number and note any changes on the current drawing. The drawing number is the Primary Key and is linked to several other tables, forms, reports, etc. The problem I have now encountered is that Architects arent that creative when numbering their drawings and tend to use the same numbering sequence for each job. So I can have several jobs with the drawing number A01. I have managed to still keep this field unique by adding a prefix (either a job number or an abbreviation for the job name). This way I am not changing the actual drawing number. However, on this current job the Architect is using the numbering sequence A1, A2, A3A25. Because he is using A1 and not A01, the drawing register reports are not sorting the drawings in the correct order and drawings A10 is listed after drawing A1 and A20 after drawing A2.
I found a round-about way of getting the drawings sorted by adding a second field. The primary key would be my version of the drawing number where I can enter it in a manner that the drawings will sort; the new field would be the actual drawing number as seen on the drawings. The reports would be sorted by my field but this field will not be visible on the reports.Is there another way to sort these records?

I was able to create only 3 pages in access report. I am not able to go beyond 3 pages since the page footer is not moving down, means I am not able to drag it down.
It is a simple report of resume with only text boxes. My report comes around 10 pages.

I want to save my report as excel file on the user computer with a click of a button. I have tried this code:
Private Sub Cmd_ReporttoExcel_Click()
DoCmd.OutputTo acOutputReport, "Gastrolog Report", acFormatXLS, "C:UsersXXDocuments" & Format(Date, "yyyymmdd") & ".xls"
End Sub
But it is giving error 2282 - The format in which you are attempting to output the current object is not available.
The other part of this question is :
This is something similar when I didn't have "PDF add in " in access 2007, when I added PDF add in then option to save file in PDF was available in "output to" action of macro. There is nothing like excel add in. However when I can export the data in excel sheet by Export function in access why don't I have option to save file as excel in "output to " action in macro? I want to have this option so that user can click a button in the form rather than in the top ribbon try to find out how to transfer and save the excel sheet.

I have a landscape oriented report which is A4 size. When I select Landscape in print preview the result is cut off on the right. In the form's design mode I get a little green triangle on the top-left which tells me that the form is wider than the page size. Is this because I am using a default printer with a portrait setting?
I want to avoid having to change the default printer for each different form orientation. I am printing to a pdf printer (pdfCreator which doesn't appear to have a landscape output setting) while testing my design so as not to waste ink & paper.
I am using Windows XP SP3 with Access 2007.

I created a crosstab query with the dates as row headings which has a Start Date and End Date Parameter. When I created a report from it, everytime I switch to the Design View of the Report, the Parameter Pops-Up like 3 times so I had to either click Cancel Start Date and End Date Pop-Ups 3 times or Fill up the Parameter 3 times which is annoying. It pops up when I click something on the Report(in Design View), or even when I encode a Formula on a textbox(it pops up everytime I press a letter on my keyboard).
I can't remove the parameters from the query because I need it in producing the data for report (say from August 1 to 31 data only) .....

I receive attendance data in Excel with two columns, StaffCode and DateTime, from a biometric machine.
Each staff member clocks in in the morning and clocks out in the evening.
Optionally, they also clock out for lunch and back in after lunch.
Each StaffCode may therefore have 2 or 4 entries per day of attendance.
Staff details (name and department) are specified in a related table.
I wish to design two reports in Access as follows:
1. Daily Attendance Report (Filtered by current date or custom parameter)
Department (1st Group level)
StaffName ClockedIn LunchOut LunchIn ClockedOut
2. Weekly/Monthly Attendance Report (filtered by current week/month or custom parameter)
Department (1st Group level)
Date (2nd Group level)
StaffName ClockedIn LunchOut LunchIn ClockedOut

I have a table in Access 2010 containing the results of a survey. One of the fields in table is the actual quotes from customers who gave direct feedback. I have created a simple report containing all of the quotes. My manager would liek them included in a summary Word doc but wants quotation marks around every quote. It's too many to manually after the report is exported to Word. Is there a way to include quotation marks around the field in the report design view?

I have a combo box which I use to jump to a certain record in a form in Continuous View. The combo box located in the form header which works fine when the code is attached to the OnChange event. But that works premature when I have not finished typing what I am looking for yet. I tried few events for no avail. I need OnLostFocus but I can not tab out of the combo for the life of me, it works when I click out of the combo box with the mouse but I want to use the Keyboard Tab.
How can I fix this?

I created a table to keep contact information such as address, phone number, and email address of instructors. I also modified the New Instructor Entry form to add an email address, since we usually have this when hired.
The problem arises when no such information exists for an instructor. I have attached a "sample" database with all the important components and "sample" data.
When I choose an instructor in which some contact information exists, the Instructor Contact Entry form performs as expected. On the other hand, if no information for an instructor exists, the information can be entered, even though the Employee Number, Family Name and Given Name fields are blank, contrary to the first case. Not only can the information can be "saved" but no data appears in the table.
How do I have to set this up to get it to work for an instructor not in the table?

I enabled security on an .mdb which included several users that are in the Full Data Users group. After I did this I needed to add a new form to the application, so I logged into the application and added it. However, though the admin group and the Full Permissions group can access it fine, the Full Data Users group cannot. I have double checked all of the settings and have even rebuilt the .mdw file to no avail. Any thoughts?

I am trying to open a report (with subreports) from a form. When the report opens, I want the form to hide, which most of the time does. Sometimes, though, it won't hide when the report opens. So, I even created an error handler, and moved that part of the code to SubExit section, but the problem still occasionally occurs. Here is my code:
Code:
Dim strWhere As String
Dim strDate As String
Dim strDist As String
On Error GoTo ErrHandler
strDate = "=DateSerial(" & Year(Me.txtAsOfDate) & "," & Month(Me.txtAsOfDate) & "," & Day(Me.txtAsOfDate) & ")"
strWhere = "YearEnd = " & Year(Me.txtAsOfDate) - 1
[Code]...
