Unbound Checkbox To Edit Selected Records

Dec 8, 2006

Hi i have a shared database and have a form with a string of records. Each record has its own unbound checkbox and I want to make it so you can select multiple records, then be able to hit a button on the top of the form to edit certain fields of the records selected. Please keep in mind that this is shared by 10 users, therefore a linked yes/no field would cause problems between the users.

Queries :: Edit Records Selected By Query

I have a query that selects records based on certain flags in each record. I can view the record in datasheet view, but I need to be able to edit the records selected by the query using another form. Is there any way to automate this process?

Modules & VBA :: How To Validate That At Least One Checkbox Is Selected

Apr 13, 2014

I am trying to validate that the user selects at least one checkbox out of three on the form in Access 2010. They can select one, two or even all three if they wish, but at least one must be checked. I am using the following code attached to the click event of a command button. It was fine but seems to have stopped working. The control names are generic to illustrate my code. The form is unbound:

if (chk1 + chk2 + chk3) = 0 then
Msgbox "Please select at least one checkbox"
exit sub

Unbound Combo Boxes And A Form With Allow Edit Set To 'NO'

Oct 29, 2005

Hi folks,

I have a form with a record source property set to a query which pulls the data by joining two tables. The form also has four navigation buttons (first, previous, next, last) and a ADD record, SAVE record, EDIT record, DELETE record buttons.

I also have a unbound combo box (control source iset to 'empty') in the form's header section and its record source property set to an SQL (SELECT DISTINCTROW tblProjts1.chrProjectName, tblProjts1.intProjectID FROM tblProjts1 ORDER BY tblProjts1.chrProjectName;). It's columns count is 2, bound column is set to 2 and column width is set to 3.1146";0".

In the edit button, I have the code "Me.AllowEdits = True" so that the user can edit the data.

Also, I have the following code on form's "on current" and "after update" events so that it will flip back to allow edit to 'NO'
Me.AllowEdits = False

Also, I have the following code on the combo box's 'after update' event.
Dim strSearch As String

strSearch = "[intProjectID] = " & Me![cboProjectID]

'Find the record that matches the control
Me.Requery
Me.RecordsetClone.FindFirst strSearch
Me.Bookmark = Me.RecordsetClone.Bookmark.

My Problem:

When I run the form and select a record from a combo box it populates the fields (all memo data type) in the form with correct linked record, ONLY when my allow edit property is set to 'YES'.

With allow edit set to 'NO', then when a tried to make a selection from a combo box it doesn't allow me to select any record. The combo box seems to be locked up and I can't select any record.

Does anyone come across such a problem with cbo box and 'allow edits' property in the forms.

Your help is much appreciated.

ShanVel

Modules & VBA :: Edit Junction Table - Unbound

Jun 11, 2015

New to access (and this forum) and working on a small db that includes the following tables:

tbl_Orders
tbl_Junction (Order Details)
tbl_Products

While the form itself is bound to tbl_Orders I decided to use unbound text boxes to enter the data (knowing I was in for some work!). Reason is that if textboxes were bound would need to use a subform with multiple combo boxes and that UI did not seem suitable for the application.

I’ve completed the code to add new records to tbl_Orders and tbl_Junction from the unbound textboxes. I'm using the VBA .AddNew method and is working well. Now I need to integrate code that will allow users to edit existing records while they are viewing them on the form.

I have the code to look up the record set I want to edit in tbl_Junction and am familiar with the .Edit method but the issue is that the required changes MAY include not just editing existing records but also deleting and adding new records. For example, the initial order may have been for Apples and Oranges and the revised order may change the number of Apples, eliminate Oranges entirely, and add some Bananas. So, it seems I need to .Edit Apples, .Delete Oranges, and .AddNew Bananas?

Should I try to write code to determine where I need to .Edit/.AddNew/.Delete? -- not looking forward to that. Thought maybe could delete the entire junction record set and then just .AddNew for everything per the revised order. That should work as the display on the form would be correct for the whole order. But maybe would cause a problem as would remove the FK in tbl_Junction that corresponds to the PK in tbl_Orders?

Autopopulate Field When Checkbox Is Selected True

Jan 27, 2012

I would like to have a field autopopulate (date field) when a checkbox is selected 'true'

Fields are:

FolderBCCheck-In (checkbox field)
Check-InDate (date field)

I need the check-inDate field to populate Date() when the FolderBCCheck-In field is checked.

I assume it is VBA code to the AfterUpdate (Event procedure). Just having trouble getting the right code.

Data Disappearing From Unbound Text Boxes Upon Edit.

Jan 12, 2006

Hello,

I have a form that utilizes a combo box called cboProgAddr (for Program Address). The cbox has 5 columns each of which fills in an adjacent text box. Since I needed the option of making corrections to these text boxes once they were filled in I need to set them up as unbound via the following code in the After Update event of cboProgAddr:

Private Sub cboProgAddr_AfterUpdate()
Me!txtProgStreet.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(1)
Me!txtLocStreet.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(1)
Me!txtProgCitySt.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(2)
Me!txtLocCitySt.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(2)
Me!txtProgZip.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(3)
Me!txtLocZip.Value = Me!cboProgAddr.Column(3)
End Sub

As you can see it puts each field of data into two separate text boxes. Here's the issue: If I have to go back to the form after the original data entry the following boxes are blank...

txtProgStreet
txtProgCitySt
txtProgZip

while the following retain the orginal data...

txtLocStreet
txtLocCitySt
txtLocProgZip

The original cboProgAddr maintains its original data. All six fields above are stored in the same table as text field. I'd like all the boxes to maintain the data from the original input.

I'm totally baffled why this is so. I've attached images of the combo box control functions if that helps.

Thanks,
David

stDocName is opening but is completely blank.

Forms :: Checkbox / List Box And Unbound Keyword Search

Aug 7, 2013

I'm relatively new to Access 2010. I have an excel spreadsheet that I've converted into an access table for the purposes of creating a user friendly form for the end user to search for relevant criteria to retrieve a list of records that fit the requests. There are two main search functions: unbound keyword search (90+ keywords), and either a series of checkboxes or one list box that lists specific countries/regions matched in a column (columns, as I will get to shortly). The region selection is bound by a selection of 15 countries.

The key is each record can correspond to more than one country. This, one record can have "Belgium, Germany, brazil" and the next record can just have "brazil". Thus if someone selects brazil, the query must retrieve the Belgium Germany brazil record in addition to the record that covers just brazil. I've tried to do this with a concatenated column that list all countries and a text box search, I've tried to do this with individual checkbox columns for each country with checkboxes in the search form...and I can't get it to work. I don't fully understand the criteria to set for checkboxes or list boxes. What would be the best way to build this form, an how?

Modules & VBA :: Change HTML Text On Email If Checkbox Selected

Feb 18, 2014

I have the following code which works perfectly BUT I want to be able to add another line of text if users enable a checkbox. I have tried everything I can think of but can't get it to work. When using an "IF check150" statement it just adds the extra text in regardless of selection or not.

Code:

Function Mail_Radio_Outlook6(activedoc As String)
Dim OutApp As Object
Dim OutMail As Object
Dim strbody As String
Dim acc_req As String
Set OutApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")

[Code] ....

This is fine most of the time but If a user ticks check150 I want to add another paragraph.

Do I use an IF statement, if so in what format? is it a separate function etc?

I am slowly getting more familiar with Access but still come unstuck on the simplest of things at times.

Forms :: How To Protect Old Records In A Form But Can Edit New Records

Dec 12, 2014

I have a form which needs update ever month. When the form is opened, the end user can see the old records and data, and also a new record is added for any new data. I want to protect the old saved data and the user can only add, edit, or delete the new data in the newly added record. The problem is once a user adds the new data and moves to another record or another form, then he/she cannot edit or change the new data in case if there is any mistake or need to change something after couple of minutes.

I changed the Form Data Properties "Allow Additions", "Allow Edits", and "Allow Deletions" many different times and situations to solve this problem but with no success. I tried the following with NO success too: One of the Fields of the Record is (Month). In the Data Properties, I set a Default Value for this field as(December 2014) for instance. I set the Data Properties "Allow Additions", "Allow Edits", and "Allow Deletions" to (Yes). Then I put the following code in the Form's Current Event:

Private Sub Form_Current()
If Me.month.Value = "December 2014" Then
Me.AllowAdditions = True
Me.AllowEdits = True
Me.AllowDeletions = True

[Code] ....

Subform Wont Allow Edit Records

Aug 14, 2006

I've created a form that contains two subforms. Subform1 is a datasheet, subform2 is a regular form containing a subform (subform3) of it's own which is a datasheet.

Subform2 is linked to display detail information based on subform1...which works fine. Subform3 is linked to subform2 displaying additional details. When I open the master form everything displays ok and subform3 displays the correct information, but when I click on one of the records to edit it the form refreshes about 5 times and then record 1 in subform3 gets selected. In other words, I am unable to select any other record except record 1 in subform3 and thus unable to edit the records.

I have subform3 set to allow edits, additons, deletions and when I open subform3 by iteself I am able to edit/add/delete just fine.

This would all work fine if I did not need to edit subform3...all the links work perfectly and display's correct information. I am stumped. I hope I am missing something obvious.

Thanks.

Update Records Via Checkbox

Feb 12, 2007

Dear all:

I have an access database with about 200 records. Names, ID's, addresses, a checkbox called "apply_to_all" and a date field which is selected via a combobox.This combo box is called "date_started", and a textbox called "prefix". This textbox has a default value of "Given on".

What I am trying to accomplish is: A date is selected from the combobox, then a checkbox("apply_date_to_all") is checked and this date is applied to ALL records in the database along with the default value that is in the prefix textbox. (Concantenattion?)

I assume this can be accomplished by some soft of sql statement?

An help is greatly appreciated.

I need to somehow make it so that the MovieID is valid, as in, if it doesn't exist then it comes up with an Error MsgBox.

General :: Using A Combobox To Select Records To Edit On A Form?

Aug 21, 2012

I am creating a data base to handle access requests to a building. All has gone well so far and ive built tables, reports, forms and used queries. However now im trying to get abit more clever and ive hit a bump of understanding/apprach.

Whilst a ninja in Excel, im still working out which is the pointy end in Access.

The database holds all details of access requests inc: Company attending, Individual attending, Access Levels and Period of attendance. This is all done with forms for the users and functions beautifully (ish).

I can run reports on this data, based on queries (there is much more included than above but you get the idea) and generate all the reports I need.

What I wanted to do was add, following attendance to the site, the card details of the AC card they were given for the visit.

My intention was to have a form with three variables: a combobox that would let you select the individuals company and two text boxes to select a date range in. Leaving just say three or four people from that company on that day rather than everyone who had ever atteneded to sort through and add the card details.

The combo box comes from another query that gave me individual company names from the main table.

I thought a date query (as in placing a more than <> or less than criteria vs textbox value on form in the query build section) could be added but I hadnt got that far.

It seems what I have done works backwards (oops), I can adjust the query from the form but get every record in the table on the form to click through to add card details, which will be abit rubbish when i have 1000's of requests building up in the history.
