I am getting this error message:
"Unexpected Error from External Database Driver" when I try to import some .dbf files into Access. I just did some quick research, and it was suggested that I remove or rename the borland driver. Not sure how I feel about attempting that, plus, where do I get a new borland driver once the old is removed/renamed.
Ever since I switched from using a Mapped Drive to using the UNC path for my linked tables, i occassionally get Unexpected Error (40230).
I noticed this first when i manually re-linked using the link table manager, it linked the tables, then gave me this error several times, likely reflecting the number of tables i linked, but the links refreshed.
I then noticed this error when i used the acCmdZoom method on a textbox control on a continuous form. It opened the zoom, then gave me the same error several times, likely reflecting the number of records on the form, (i just hit the esc key to scroll through all the errors quickly.)
Any thoughts would be much appreciated,
*** UPDATE, Ok, I just did a Linked Table Manager again, got the error 112 times (or so), which is nowhere near the number of tables linked. After the error occurs once, and you perform that operation again, the error does not happen. Same thing when zooming, the error occurs sever dozens of times, but when i perform the zoom again, it does not repeat the error.

I am coding an ASP front end for an Access database. I actually had it working yesterday but I still had some tweaks to make. My development has come to a stand still because of this crazy error I awoke to this morning. I went to the url of my ASP page and all of a sudden I get this error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0xbac Thread 0xc84 DBC 0x19e6fc4 Jet'.
So after doing some research, I decided to change my connection string to use Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0
Once I changed over to the Jet driver, I got this error message:
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
Could not find installable ISAM.
I am totally stumped with this problem. I actually re-upped the database and it started working briefly but the error message soon returned. Everything I am reading is saying to change permisions and change some stuff in the registry but since it was working fine yesterday, I do not believe it is a registry setting.
I have a website which uses a series oif ASP/VBscript scripts to access and update an Access database. It has run for years on a shared commercial service.I also have a replica of the wesbite on my home pc for development and testing running under XP Pro and IIS. All works fine.
Recently I have had to switch my home setup to my laptop (also XP Pro and IIS). The scripts all appear to work ok except when I try to UPDATE certain tables.
Some give "Syntax error in UPDATE statement." Some give "Data type mismatch in criteria expression." Some work without error
Yet the identical script and table on the main site and my home PC work fine and have done for years.
Im doing a login page for my website, and i am having trouble connecting to the DB:
'Database connection info and driver strCon = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};uid=;pwd=letmein; DBQ=" & Server.MapPath(strAccessDB)
where strAccessDB = "cs334-45/Kosy/Kosy.mdb"
cs334-45 is my computer name in the virtual directory.
Im getting this error:
Server.MapPath(), ASP 0172 (0x80004005) The Path parameter for the MapPath method must be a virtual path. A physical path was used. /Kosy/check_user.asp, line 21
I dont understand. I thought that the virtual directory was mapped to the physical directory anyway? So why do I have to enter a virtual path?
My main experience is with MySQL and PHP so I'm kindof stumbling around in the dark here. Heres my story:
We recieved a new server and migrating from (Windows Server 2000, IIS 5.0, Access 2000) to (Windows Server 2003, IIS 6.0, Access 2003) has been nothing but problems.
I have setup IIS to work with ASP, I've also setup a system DSN. The access file was copied over from the previous server. We're running Access 2003 and now I can't seem to get this ASP script to work.
When I try to upload a file to the script I get this error:

I set an alert after this line but it doesn't pop up.
ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'll be checking this very frequently.
I have a basic form that shows employee information. A few of the fields are calculated or lookup fields. Starting with the first record I can go thru all of them just fine (I don't see any errors in the fields). If I look at my 2nd record twice then my combined name field (first name + last name) shows "#Name?". This error does not occur with my 1st record, just the 2nd one. Also, if I go to the end of my records to where a new record is going to be entered then I get extra errors in my 1st record.
It's kind of hard to explain exactly what's happening without pictures. I'll post some if you think it will help.
In any case, I don't see how a calculated field can work the first time thru but not the second time thru.
I have a table onto which i would like to add new column based on a set of if statements. (to assign weekly dates)this is only a portion of the code, but when I clicked on run, it gives me "external name not defined error".
Code:
Option Compare Database Option Explicit Public Sub AssignWeekly() 'declares weekly column as a new variable Dim Client_Weekly_1213 As Integer
I am setting up a form to send multiple attachments to an email.I have a query "qry_DwgEmail" that has an ID and a path column. On the form I have a button with the code below in the Click Event. The code below all works fine unless the path is incorrect, so I would like some error handling to be able to either:
1) Stop the code from running and display a message box with my message. 2) Continue the loop and then have the message box display what files could not be found (Preferred).
Note, the following code was taken from one of the forums I am not 100% on what it all means.
Code: Private Sub btn_CreateEmail_Click() Dim MyDB As Database Dim MyRS As Recordset Dim objOutlook As Outlook.Application Dim objOutlookMsg As Outlook.MailItem Dim objOutlookAttach As Outlook.Attachment Dim TheAttachment As String
I have a function that exports a number of tables within an access 2007 database to one spreadsheet using docmd.transferspreadsheet.
The error message in the title of this post presents itself during a loop which transfers the tables to the spreadsheet. However, it doesn't always happen, sometimes it completes the process perfectly which is quite frustrating.
Below is the section of code where the error occurs ....
Set rs = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM tbl_Table_Exports WHERE Type = 'CRM'", dbOpenSnapshot) rs.MoveFirst Do Until rs.EOF TableName = rs.Fields("Table") WSName = rs.Fields("WSName") DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel12, TableName, NewWBPath, True, WSName rs.MoveNext Loop
I am trying to move data in one table to a table in an external database and Access isn't playing ball. Supposedly you can use the 'IN' clause to link to an external database but if I put it in then I get 'Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement' and if I take it out it works fine not that, that is what I want. It's syntax seems to be defined like below at the MS website - jet reference???
I've also got a parameter that I'm trying to feed it, that is the path to the database, which is correct! c:helpcontent.mdb
Here's the query INSERT INTO CONTENT_CLASSES IN '"+ @DBDir +"' ( PARENT_ID, CLASS_NAME, STATUS_ID, KEYWORDS, PRIORITY, LAST_CHANGED_BY, LAST_CHANGED_DATE, MULTIPLE_CONTENT ) SELECT A.PARENT_ID, A.CLASS_NAME, A.STATUS_ID, A.KEYWORDS, A.PRIORITY, A.LAST_CHANGED_BY, A.LAST_CHANGED_DATE, A.MULTIPLE_CONTENT FROM CONTENT_CLASSES AS A;
I was wondering is there a way to open up another database from within a database? Not to combine but just to open another one up instead of looking for it on a drive....
I've made an access project (ade) and stored the admin with password in the ade file. When I open a new database I can use the import feature to import all tables with definitions and data from the ade file. All other objects are being locked.
How can i disallow tables from my mde to be imported into another access application?
I have a database that I used as a back-end for an Excel spreadsheet. Now that the database has been moved from one place on the network to another, I need to update the information in my spreadsheet to reflect the database's new name and location. Is there any way of doing this short of deleting and recreating the queries in Excel?
I've got an Access 2010 application that currently links to a SQL Server 2000 database. I need to change the link to a SQL Server 2008 database on a different server. Where do I go to change the link? When I click on External Data, ODBC Database, I only get an option to import source data. I don't want to import any data. I just want the application to link to a different external database. If I go ahead and click OK, I choose my ODBC connection and log in to the 2008 database. Now I've got a list of "import objects" to choose from. I choose one table (just for testing; I actually want to link with all tables), it says it imported successfully, but when I view the data in that table from Access, it's the same old 2000 database data.
code that will allow me to take data [All Fields] from a Table in my Database and Insert them into another identically structured Table in another MS Access accdb Database.I would also like to filter for records older than a month [MyDateField]
I have tried the following code I found on line. It doesn't throw an error . . . but it doesn't perform the Insert either.
Code: Dim ws As DAO.Workspace 'Current workspace (for transaction). Dim db As DAO.Database 'Inside the transaction. Dim bInTrans As Boolean 'Flag that transaction is active. Dim strSql As String 'Action query statements. Dim strMsg As String 'MsgBox message.
We have an older system that generates txt reports. I take these txt reports, then using Excel, I append the report headers to each record... creating a datatable. I then import this table to Access. I have not been able to figure out how to have Access perform this. In Excel, I use an "if" statement.
I was wondering if it was possible to link random external tables to the Active Database through VBA. I would like to run the code that would open up a dialog box that would let the user select the database as well as the tables within that database that the user can select to link to. I am able to select the database and but not able to select the actual tables. The tables will be random so I can't make a constant statement for a specific database.
Basically it's trying to take all the files in a given directory and add them into a existing database.
I have a database called Permit. the database has a field called "SEAL" and they will be creating an additional field "SCART" to hold the contents of the file that exist in the directory. Each image file, in directory, is named the same as a unique record in Permit.
example: Permit-SC might have unique record 532442 An image file would be name 532442.
If the image file matches a record in Permit the image should be added to permit in a field called "SCART". At this point I'm not certain if I want a link or the actual image included in the record. since there's a possibility of including the permit file on the website it might be cleaner to have it included.
