I have a memo field that contains several text strings separated by line breaks. I would like to write a query to add another text string to the end of the field. How do I embed a line feed in the SQL?
I created a form with a memo field. Data is entered. How do I get the data to print on the report on separate lines rather than one continuous paragraph? For example: Entered in form:
2/1/15 visit to house. 2/2/15 ordered new locks for doors. 2/5/15 Locks installed.
Print view on Report:
2/1/15 visit to house. 2/2/15 ordered new locks 2/5/15 locks in stalled.
I'm not sure if this is the right section for this question, but not sure where else to ask it.
We have a database and a query that is run that creates a table for a webpage.
The webpage (created in FrontPage) displays the info we need, but what we have 1 field that we would like to have display in a certain way. What we would like is, instead of having this 1 field string all the words out in a row. For example: word 1 word 2 word 3
Is there something we could either do in the query or within the webpage, that will force each word to a new line within it's table cell on the webpage
So would look something like this. word1 word2 word3
I have a field on an Access db, this is a "Memo " type field which has many lines of text within it.
I need to run a query on this to get the last line of text within this field.
Aside from records where this memo field is filled in I also have records where the memo field is blank. So basically if the memo field is blank I want a blank field returned as well as fields with data.
I am using Access 2003 but also am running this on Access 2000 (not sure if there has been a change to function names)
This is seriously bugging me - can anyone put me out of my misery?
Our quotation tool, which is built in access 2003, has a memo field, which is extracted in a .txt file, to be uploaded by another system.
When the user starts the memo field with a blank line, by hitting the enter key, the upload file writes the memo field as a new line, separating it from the line indicator and thus giving errors.
My question would be : How would I determine in VBA, whether the first line of the memo field is blank.
I have created a button that takes the contents of a memo field and adds a new line of text at the top with the date, time and initials of staff member. So far, so good...
However I want it to end with the cursor ready at the end of the first line (to type the note) The following code does everything but ends by putting the cursor right at the end of all of the text in the memo field (instead of the end of the first line):
I have imported an Excel spreadsheet into an Access database. In Excel, a line break in a cell is entered by ALT+Enter. After importing my spreadsheet, all my line breaks appear as "□" and the text all runs together (no line breaks) in the table. The "□"s are also printed in reports. I need a way to either (1) make the "□"s appear as line breaks (e.g., by changing some Access property) or to convert the "□"s to something that shows as a line break in an the Access table memo field (e.g., CNTRL+Enter). Can anyone tell me how to make this happen?
I've tried to copy/paste the "□" into the Find/Replace dialog, but nothing appears when I paste. I understand the memo field is unicode, but I have not been able to determine what the "□" character actually is. It is not the same as the only similar squared shaped character I find in the Arial character map (U+25A1: White Square). I can copy and paste the "□", if surrounded by some other text, e.g., "xxx□yyy", into a Notepad document and it shows up as "xxx□yyy". Pasting the same into a Word doc and I get "xxx yyy" with the line break properly displayed. I can copy and paste just the □ itself in Notepad.
I'd like to run a search and replace on a query result to remove carriage returns, linek breaks and tabs from the data. I know that MSWord has character aliases that will allow you to do a search and replace - does Access have an equivalent for these?
I programming a eBay upholder, and having an issue with the description, as there cant be any line breaks in the column. I have little knowledge of Vba programming. I think I can use the replace command to change the line breaks to spaces.
I am currently using the column history to log the history of inputs into a memo field.
But i now need to swap how my database runs and now require a combo box to have the same history function, as this is for a status updates and i require users to only input certain status's.
I no that I cant use the columnhistory command with a combo box.
When selecting a status from the combo box it automatically update the memo field (which will be hidden on the form) so the column history function works.
what is the correct syntax to write a command line able to UPDATE more than one field in the table records having multiple WHERE criteria.
Here is my challenge:My TableI has the columns A, B, C and D which are populated, for example, as follows:
TableI A B C D 1 2 2 6 4 3
1 7 5 9 1 2 2 5 8 5 etc.
I also have a FormII which updates TableII. Among the existing fields of TableII there are the fields C and D (same as above). When saving data entry thru the save button of the FormII, fields C and D will be naturally saved on the TableII. Well, I also want C and D info updated into Table I as well, but only when field A=1 and B=2.So what I need (for the click event of the button save in the FormII) is to open TableI and either insert or update it with the values of the fields C and D in every record WHERE A=1 AND B=2.For instance, assuming C=& and D=%, the desired result should be as follows:
TableI A B C D 1 2 & % 2 6 4 3 1 7 5 9 1 2 & % 2 5 8 5
I did not find any examples in the net including multiple criteria..Here is what I wrote unsuccesfully:
Private Sub BtSalvarFrmII_Click() CurrentDb.execute "UPDATE TableI" Set FieldC = Forms!FrmII!FieldC.value AND Set FieldD = Forms!FrmII!FieldD.value WHERE FieldA = 1 AND FieldB = 2 Docmd.save Docmd.close End Sub
I have a data entry form with a memo control physically sized to match the allowable space for this information when printed on a report.
Basically, I need to be able to stop the user from further input when the cursor reaches the lower right corner of the memo control. Beeping when reaching the limit is acceptable, but a pop-up message would be ideal.
I have not been able to find a solution that will limit the amount of text displayed in the memo control that will also include however many LF's a user inputs. All of the search results refer to only limiting the number of characters and do not take into account LF's.
I am new to Access and would appreciate all suggestions.
I am building a database where one Form displays records from 14 different tables. For some reason, when I recently try to add a field on to a form from a new table, the ENTIRE form loses the record source, and every single field that is already on the form gets that green dot in the corner with errors surrounding a record source that cannot be found. What am I doing wrong? Am I exceeding some limitations with forms?
Is there a way to populate the value of a memo field with the push of a button. What I am trying to do is have a few default items that can be automatically entered into a memo field. When I attempt to change the value of the memo field either thru the wizard, macro or by using a simple code like me.[memofield]="test" I get the error that you cannot assign a value to this object or by using setvalue through a macro i get the error "Object doesnt support this property or method"
i want to update a memo field with this query, but it won't work...says "Operation must use an updateable query". I've checked microsoft help and my connexion mode is ok, must be the syntax since its a memo field?
sqlupdate = "UPDATE sec_accueil SET contenu='" &varTxt& "'" conn.execute(sqlupdate)
I have this update query that does not quite work. I have attached a picture of the design view. What I need to do is process each line and update the processed field (yes no) to minus one to then exclude that record. Unfortunately when this query runs, it sets the processed field after matching all records.
I am in the process of changing over a text field to a memo field to generate more space (in 5 different databases :eek: ) Thanks to all the good info on several searches of this forum, I am pretty clear on how to do that.
The question is... when I convert a field that already has information in it, will I lose the current information?
when i change records, my subform that has a memo field, shows the memo field data is "highlighted". i can make a mistake and hit any keyboard key and the memo field data will get erased.
is there a way to prevent such a problem?
if not, is there a work around. eg, hide the memo field until needed for more input? ideas on both issues?
If i simply remove the GROUP BY line and stick the semicolon at the end of the previous line (.EmpID; ) it works just fine. How is adding a group by line causing an error?I tried adding another parenthes at the beginning ((( and ending the joins as EmpID); and that failed with the exact same error.
I have a main form with 3 sub forms. The main form is tied to a table called QUOTES_MASTER. The first sub form is tied to a table called QUOTE_ LINE_ ITEMS_DIRTGLUE. It calculates the subtotal when selecting items. The relationship is one-to-many linked on QUOTE_ID.
The second sub form adds up total of all line items and is not tied to a table.The third sub form adds ESTIMATED FREIGHT to the PRODUCT TOTAL and is not tied to a table. how to get the values from the line items form inserted into the QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE table as they are added.
I also want to insert the total value from ESTIMATED DELIVERED into the LINE_TOTALS field in the table QUOTES_MASTER.I tried this code on the product total sub form but it doesn't do anything and there are no errors:
Private Sub PROD_SUB_AfterUpdate() DoCmd.RunSQL "UPDATE QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE SET QUOTE_LINE_ITEMS_DIRTGLUE.SUBTOTAL = Me.PROD_SUB WHERE QUOTES_MASTER.QUOTE_ID = " & Me.QUOTE_ID
I have a module which reads a CSV transaction file line by line and adds the correct transactions to an access table and places the wrong ones in a logfile.Now some transactions are rejected twice there is even one rejected six times. Whereas one wrong transaction is processed only once. I am certainly overlooking something obvious in the logic but what. Here is the relevant code.
Code:
Function ImportCSVForConfederation(inputCSV, ORG) Dim TNO As Integer, TACT As Integer, TABLE As String, TLINE As String, I As Integer, J As Integer, K As Integer Dim FLD1 As String, FLD2 As String, FLD3 As String, FLD4 As String, LogFile As String, LogPath As String Dim Lim As String, ITNO As Integer
