Update Two Queries At The Same Time From A Form

Sep 15, 2006

Hi,

Not sure where to post this as it covers both queries, forms and partly tables.

ISSUE:
I need to add two records to a query with one record in a form. Is this possible?

BACKGROUND:
This is a database with TV programs and the times they are to be broadcast.

Tables:
One table. "table_programs" contains the information about each program (title, description, length etc.). The other table, "table_times" has the times for the programs (date, start_time etc.), where one program can be shown multiple times.

Query:
There is one query, "query_programtimes", that combines the above two tables + two calculation fields. One calculates the end time of a program by adding the start time (from the times table) and the length (from the programs table). The other calculates a file name, based on the weekday of the date field.

Form:
The form is based on the "table_programs" table, with the "query_programtimes" as the data source for a subform. There I enter a program and in the sub-form one or more times for it to be broadcast.

So far so good. The form adds one record to the query for each time that a program is broadcast.

Now what I'd like to do is to add another record in the query for each scheduled time. That is for entering a file that will be played when a program is finished. That is, it'll take its title from the file name that is calculated in the query and the scheduled programs end time as its start time.

Alternatively, and perhaps even better, this data could be in its own query and then a third query can combine the two to get the full schedule.

Is there any way to do this? That is, one entry in the form is supposed to update two queries at the same time.

Hope I made myself clear... :)

Thanks!

Queries :: Update Multiple Tables From One Form

Feb 10, 2014

I have 2 main tables. One with Data that I get from an outside source and cannot be changed. The other is one that needs to be updated as needed. I have a few look up tables so I can identify the codes with the descriptions. In 2003 I was able to make a big query and link my forms to the query to make modifications. I am not able to edit any information in the 2010 query. The people want it to work the way it did in the past but I am not skilled enough in access to do that. Is there an easy way to use a query when updating the form? I used to be able to edit the query itself and it would feed back into the existing tables.

Queries :: Employee Time In And Time Out Entry

Jul 18, 2013

I am trying to create an Access database where I can let the employees enter their time-in and time-out, at the end of their shift. I already created this function working, but running into another issue. Everyday, employees need to enter a break. Sometimes they take a break and sometimes they don't, if they work shorter hours. Thus, the break is not a default 30min and has to be enterd by the employee.

Below is the code I have to calculate the total hour:

txtCalcTime has the below code in control source:
=Int([CalcTime]/60) & ":" & Int([CalcTime] Mod 60)

Control source for this form "FrmTimes" property, in which Txtcalctime resides:

QryTimes
"QryTimes" query has the code below:
SELECT TimeID, TimeIn, TimeOut, Brake, DateID, DateDiff("n",[TimeIn],[TimeOut]) AS CalcTime
FROM EmpTimes;

This shows the total number of hours worked. But how can I make it to substract the break time entered by the employee in "txtbreak" on FrmTimes

Queries :: Expression Field - Update User Inputted Date On A Form

Apr 10, 2014

I created a query with one expression field that updates a user inputted date field on a form. The expression adds a certain amount of time to the field (usually six months) so I know when the next inspection should take place. Everything works great except when I put a parameter in the expression field. It will not return the property dates. If I simply remove the expression, and input the date manually, it works just fine. Am I not allowed to use date parameter with an expression? It returns every date within the correct month, but will give me future years as well.

The expression is - NextInspectionDate: DateAdd("m",12/[InspectionFrequency],[LastInspectionDate])

The parameter is - Between [Forms]![Preventative Maintenance Dates]![Sta

Reports :: Auto Populate Date And Time Every Time Form Is Updated

Nov 8, 2013

I have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?

Update Date/time Of Record

Dec 15, 2005

Hi, on a database I created with probably over one hundred fields in it I have one text box called update. What I want is if ANY of the fields are altered it then updates the "update" field with date and time. At the moment I have started altering every field with creating an event proceedure in the "on change" entry which reads as below for a change to text5 box. (text141 is the update field)

Private Sub Text5_Change()
[Text141] = Now()
End Sub

Now, although this works; as you can imagine it's very time consuming going through every single field I have puting this proceedure in place. My question.....Is there a much simpler way of making this "update" field change if any part of the record gets altered ?????

Hope this isnt confusing.

I should add that each record has about 4 tabs(pages) too, so the overall record is spread over all this too. I need something that knows that anything is altered on the record and so update the "update" field

Update Query For Capturing Log Out Time Of User

May 18, 2006

I have done some searching to find a method for logging & timestamping when users log in and out. I have no problems with capturing the Log IN information my problem lies with the log out portion where I am trying to use a Update query to update when the user logs out of the database:

I can get the update query to do what I want, but for some reason it is creating a duplicate record (exactly the same as the last record updated)

Here is the code I am using:

UPDATE LogInTable SET LogInTable.LogOutTime = Time()
WHERE (((LogInTable.LogOutTime) Is Null) AND ((LogInTable.UserName)=LogUserName()));

Basically I am trying to tell the Query to ONLY update records where the "LogOutTime" is Null AND where the UserName field in the table = the username of the person trying to run the update query.

Please help I can't figure out how to prevent these duplicates. :(

Queries :: Getting Date / Time Range - Date And Time Are Separate Fields

Mar 13, 2014

I have a database with date and time each stored in a separate field. Now I want to query the database based on a start date/time and an end date/time. I started with the code below but it only returns events within the same time range on each day when what I really need is every event from a specified date and time through a specified date and time.

SELECT myTable.ID AS myTable_ID, myDate, myTime, FirstName, LastName
FROM Staff INNER JOIN myTable ON
Staff.ID = myTable.StaffID
WHERE myTable.myDate >= #3/2/2014#
AND myTable.myDate <= #3/3/2014#
AND myTable.myTime >= #8:00PM#
AND myTable.myTime <= #11:00PM#
ORDER BY myDate desc

In the above example what I want is every event from 3/2/2014 8:00PM until 3/3/2014 11:00PM. But what I get instead is every event between 8:00PM and 11:00PM on 3/2/2014 and every event between 8:00PM and 11:00PM on 3/3/2014.
