I cannot seem to find a way to upload several rows of data to one column in Access!I have about 9 columns already in the table which have 900 rows each. These include names, numbers, address etc.I was asked to add a column on next to the 9 columns with corresponding User ID such as 0093457FX (Which I really do not want to add manually).Every time I try to upload an excel file the data either goes below the current data from the 9 columns on the new column and does not match the current data set, or it does not show up at all.
I have an access mdb file and just added a new field to one of the tables.
I also have several spreadsheets with bits of information that I would like to use to update the newly created field for each record.
Not sure what is the best way to approach this. Can I use a query that will look into the spreadsheet and copy the specified cell to the newly created field using an if statement? or
Do I need to get all data into a table and upload as a new table in Access then use query to update the records?
Please keep in mind that I do not wish to append new records, I need to update existing ones.
The above represents my thoughts on how to approach this task, I would appreciate any help.
I must also state that I am totally new to access and would appreciate as much detail as is possible in the response(s).
I have uploaded data from excel to acces and found some data issues in columns in Acess tables. It has '?' mark in some data in the filed. This is mainly becuuse some excel cells got carriage return in the cell. Can I fix this issue strightway in access column without update excel to remove space and carriage returns in there and then upload again.
I am working on a project where I need to upload selected data from multiple sheets of an excel file. Here is an example of what I want.
1. I want to create a table in Access with around 10 columns 2. Column 1 should be populated with the date field found in A2 cell of sheet 1 of the excel file 3. Column 2-5 should be populated with the columns B2-E200 in sheet 2 of the excel file. 4. Columns 6-7 would be populated based on values from columns 1-2 of the table. Basically Column 6 should be Column 1 date plus 60 days. 5. Column 8-10 would be user generated after the excel is imported and the user should have the ability to attach around 5 files to each row.
I have a excel file and want a button in the sheet which would transfer a certain range of data in a defined excel sheet to an existing access db table. How to do about doing that.

I have an existing database in access now I need to add records (10000 rows) in this table from excel. When I try to do an import from Excel to Access it gives me an error. Please Help!!
I have converted 6 Excel spreadsheets to one CSV text document distinguished by their sheetnames. Where I am stuck is trying to import that CSV file into 6 separate tables in my Access database. Does anyone have any ideas how to do this using VBA. I am still a newbie at this, so any help would be appreciated.
I am Oracle Guy & new to Ms-Access. I want to load the data from Ms-Exell into Table in Ms-Access automatically through Procedure / Macros. How to do this process?. Help me, if anyone knows.
Is there any way I can use data in the row as a column header ? I only have 1 row of data which i want to use as a header to I can link it to other tables/queries.
I have some data in excel which I am importing it into MS Access 2002. Each excel file (one worksheet per file) is imported into separate tables.
I want to combine all my imported tables into one table. Is that possible, if yes then how and if no then what can be done to get single table after impoting data from various excel files.
My goal in Excel was to combine them all into a single Pivot Table which I did. The issue is everytime I add a sheet I need to redo the Pivot Table, which would be a hassle as I will continually be adding sheets. I'm hoping that there is an easier way this could be done using Access. The individual sheets are emailed to me and then I put them into one Excel file, is there a way to take that Excel file with all the sheets and import it to Access and be able to sort the data as I would with a Pivot Table in Excel?
how i can export the data from Access to excel using Access VBA for the specified sheet using data linkage with access database. Like we used to do it manually in excel as external data from access.Like we have some codes for linking excel file to database mentioned below;
Can we have something like this to link database table in excel file automatically. So that the excel size won't be that big and also it saves processing time.
I've been using MS Access 2007 for years to manage some Excel data. running some queries etc. Just recently I've been encountering problems when importing data into an existing table. When I do it now, I get a "Subscript out of Range" error. To troubleshoot, I imported into a new table and when doing so, the fields no longer match the column order of the spreadsheet. They all get imported but appears in a different order. I think this is why I am getting the error message. How can I go about ensuring that the data gets imported properly into my already existing table? My fields in "Design View" will match the order of the Columns in the Excel spreadsheet.
This works fine as long as column names in Excel do not have periods. (.) Other then asking whoever is sending this not to put periods, is there painless way ignore that fact that excel has it, un just do it without it ?
I would like to export from access a recordset into Excel and bold the column headers.
My current code works for the most part, except for the bolding.
You run the code in Access module and the code does the following:
1) checks to see if the excel file is open
2) if excel file not open, it opens the file, clears existing records, and starts copying and pasting new recordset into the RAW worksheet
3) it is then supposed to bold the column headers.
bolding is not working.
Code: Sub TestFileOpened() Dim lastRow As Long ' Test to see if the file is open. If IsFileOpen("c: est2003.xls") Then ' Display a message stating the file in use. MsgBox "File already in use!"
When I import a column from Excel into a new table in Access using the Docmd.transferspreadsheet function, Access automatically assigns a field name of "F1"; and if I try to import a range of columns (Eg A1:B10), then Access saves them into a table with 2 columns with field names "F1" and "F2". The table is created as part of the Docmd function, and so I don't have control over the field names.
Is this going to always be the case? Can I depend on Access to always use this naming convention? Because I am about to start writing more code that will depend on these field names.
In sheet 1, In column A all the Batch numbers are present. So I want to check if each of these is present in Access table named "tblmain". If its present then display its corresponding Policy number in Column B of attached workbook.
How to use VBA..... I have set up a simple database to enter data into then upload to a client web portal.
I have a form to enter the data and the table this data goes into has a check box at the end which I want to have ticked/checked/True after I have exported.
I have created a query that shows me all data that is unchecked (not yet exported to an xls)
I have created a simple export macro that sends the query result to an .xls
I want the macro to finish by checking the "export" checkbox once I have done this....
I am using Access 2010 attached is a screen dump of what I have so far....
I have 5 tables that I would like to input data in. It can only be done with a single form. The fields I want to input in have the same names in all 5 tables, for example:
Table 1: Name Age DOB
Table 2: Name Age DOB
Table 3: Name Age DOB
Table 4: Name Age DOB
Table 5: Name Age DOB
Is it possible to input data into all of these fields in each table using one textbox for each field?
Preferably without having to use code but if it cannot be done without it then that would be fine.
I'm not sure what the definition of this type of concatenation is, so I'm having trouble searching for it.
I have three tables - one is tblNames (with ID, first_name, last_name) with 25 records, and tblStates (with StateID, state_name, state_abbrev) with 50 records, and the requisite join table between them - tblNamesState (with autonumber and the two FKs), because some of the folks in tblNames can have locations in multiple states. Good enough.
But now it's output-to-spreadsheet time, and I want to run a query that will give me 25 records, and concatenate the location records in a single row. An example would be:
first_name | last_name | state_name John | Johnson | AL, AK, TX, FL Eddie | Edwards | MA, TX, FL Sally | Smith | VT, WA, CA, TX
How do I concatenate records from a single column?
