Use List Box To Assign Multiple Values To Records?
Jan 12, 2005
I hope the title actually conveys what I'd like to do.
I want to assign records on a subform to a group header on a form. For example, I have groups A, B, C, and D and I want the records on a subform to be assigned to groups A, B, and D. (The number of groups and their names will change so I can't simply use an "A," "B," "C" option box.) My idea is to have a Multi-Select List Box on the main form and choose all the groups to which the records on the subform need to belong. So I'd select the groups, enter the records on the subform, then create a another record on the master form and assign records to another group.
Is it possible to make this happen without a lot of programming?
I have a table (tbl Team Info) which contains names and codes for teams within my business (>400 records) and another table (tbl Process) which contains a list of high level tasks (30 records).
I need to create something where for each team name 9in tbl Team Info) I can map them to the tasks that they undertake (in tbl Process) and assign a percentage of time then spend on each task. Each team could map to several different tasks.
I have a DB where you there's 5 tables all linked together by one project ID
tables below
Project , Staff, Asset, allowances, travel, mark up
What I can do is create a new project, then add records to each of the other tables on what different items I require,
i.e. I create a new project - called project one, in the project table I create a record stating, name, time scale, client and location, then I add different records to each of the other tables on what I require all linked to the same project ID. (probably not explained that too well)
Now I want to create a query that lists all the requirements one after the other this will make it easier to create reports and to calculate costing's.
At the moment I have made 5 different queries listing all the data, then have one report containing 5 sub reports to display the data, no this does work.
I was thinking/hoping of using a list box on my form to store multiple values, I haven't been able to find a way of storing any value so far so not sure how easy it will be?
How can this be achieved or is it just easier to use several check boxes (approx 8)
I have a Table with a short text field, field size: 20. The row source has been set up ie "Item 1", "Item 2", "Item 3", etc. Allow multiple values IS allowed.Once I drop a control on a form (list box) to represent the aforementioned field, I realize I can put a checkmark in many items. Why? I add up the total length of the items text at 40-50 characters, yet the field size is only 20. To check my sanity, I open the Table in Datasheet view and lo, I can see all the Items spelled out, in clear violation of field size constraints
I am trying to use a list-control on a form to let the user select multiple values. I have understood that this requires some VBA-code to step through the selections in the list, since the "multivalue-selection" is set to "Extended".
When I try to execute the code I have (found and have tried to adjust), then I get the error message "Object required". The "ListCount"-paramater always only results in a ZERO-value, when i step through the code:
Function cmdOpenQuery_Click() On Error GoTo Err_cmdOpenQuery_Click Dim MyDB As DAO.Database Dim qdef As DAO.QueryDef Dim i As Integer Dim strSQL As String
I have a data base with names, email IDs, phone numbers of 5 types(example quality, security, IT,finance etc) of person from ten different project teams. I created a basic form for the end user to enter values and created fields for each of the person's name, email ID etc based on the personal type( liek quality, IT, finance etc) on each team. The background table contains records of almost 200 people now.
All of these people will be trained for one task and some will be trained for multiple tasks. I know how to make the combo box allow multiple values/selections but, i cannot list out all 200 personal names in the combobox's rowsource/value list. Is it possible to combine all different name fields and list out all personal(of one team), so that the end user can just select multiple names for that team who have been trained and so on. i need to set the rowsource of the combobox to the values of all personal from one team so the team leader can just go select who has been trained and who has not.
Ok, I'm sorry if this is somewhere else in the forum, but I can't seem to locate it. Here's my task:
I am writing an attendance program for an Ambulance Company, and I actually have a large chunk of it done. I have a text box for the date and a combo box for the type of activity. I have two side-by-side list boxes that lets the officers select peoples names and put them in the right side list box. The part that I need help with is: How do I add new records to the table that includes each of the members names, but all the same dates and activities.
Ex.:
John Smith 5/10/05 Meeting Jane Smith 5/10/05 Meeting Tom Jones 5/10/05 Meeting
I think that i need to write a loop, but my access programming is way out of shape. Any help would be appreciated, ladies and gentlemen
Hi, in my database I have a 7 subforms that shows fields for daily tasks for each day of the week. On the Monday, the tasks are assigned and then stored for every record for the corresponding date. The process is done again on tuesday, then wednesday etc. However, often the daily tasks for say tuesday will be very similar (sometimes the same) to that of monday's.
Therefore is there a way to set the default values for each day as the previous days tasks and then alter them if needed?
I am total green in access specially in VBA world and trying to learn during my free time..I am able to learn to learn how to assign values to LISTBOX, based on already created Query (using Wizard). Now I am trying to learn, HOW to create the query through VBA and assign to listbox instead of first creating query..What exactly I am trying to learn is upon opening of the my listbox show already existed records (for information)
Following the information tlb name = Currency tlbfield1=Currencycode tlbfield2=Currencyname
Hi! I hate to ask for so much help on this, but I'm lost.
I have a budget database that is used to track equipment for purchase. Many times, the same item (a desk, or chalkboard) is needed for more than one room, so I need to buy more than one. The way my form is set up, I put the detail about the chalkboard in and select the room ID for the room it is going into. The problem with this is that I don't want to have to do it for every single chalkboard location in the college.
So, I want to use a multiple selection list box to add the records all at once. In other words, I want to enter the item detail in my form, and then select all of the rooms that item is going into, and then click OK! and have it create new records for each room that item is going into. So rather than having one new record created (as would be with a combo box), if I have three rooms selected, I want the OK button to add the record to the table three times with a different room number for each record. Any ideas????? Thanks!
I have a list box populated with record ID's all of which need a date field updated. I have been succesful at using the list box to update single records, but am not sure how to transfer this idea to work with multiple records simultaneously.
The code i am using is:
Private Sub Command13_Click() Dim i As Integer Dim strSQL As String Dim sMessage As String Set db = CurrentDb() Dim sTitle As String For i = List10.ListCount - 1 To 0 Step -1
I have two table. Table 1 (assets) list all my assets etc. Table 2 lists all servicing for each asset.
I have a form which generates a list box of items that require servicing (once servicing has been completed on these items) I would like to update all records, in both tables. Table 2 with all the information about the service. and Table 1 with (only) the next service date.
I have set the list box to allow multiple selection and have used the following code to allow new records to be update in table 2 (which works). but I cant seem to get the code to edit one cell in table 1.
private Sub Command59_Click() Dim strSQL As String Dim db As DAO.Database
I am fairly new to Access and have no formal training on this program, just a lot of trial and error. I have a database with 4 tables. They are tblEmployees, tblCourses, tblDates, and tblTraining. The key for each was an autonumber that is EMPLOYEEID, COURSEID, DATEID, and TRAININGID.
tblEmployee lists pertinent information regarding an employee (name, serial #, shift, etc). tblCourse lists all courses that are available for an employee (course name, #hours, required attendees, type of training, etc).
tblDates lists all available class dates and times for the courses in tblCourses and has a lookup field for COURSEID and COURSETITLE from tblCourses.
tblTraining lists all the training scheduled for and completed by an employee and has a lookup/relationship with tblEmployees for EMPLOYEEID and EMPLOYEENAME.
It also has a lookup/relationship field with tblCourses for COURSEID and COURSETITLE. Finally, it has a lookup/relationship with tblDates with lookup field/relationship with DATEID and CLASSDATE. I have successfully created a form where the training can be added to an employee (frmTrainingUpdated) and it has a subform (frmTraining) with all classes for that employee in a multilist at the bottom (from a query of tblTraining). The subform also has a field for whether the training was completed and then the hours are credited to the employee (txtCredit).
The problem comes when I try to add all of the credited hours for a single employee in a separate field. I am trying to create a field somewhere on the form that will total all of the hours for all of the completed classes for the one employee on the form. I have tried to list the data for the textbox as =DSUM([txtCredit], tblTraining, WHERE (EMPLOYEE=Me.Employee)) and only get an error message displayed in the textbox. I tried to do a totals SUM on the query and it only gives me the individual hours for each class on the same line for that record.
We will have around 100 people attending a program that will be broken into 7 (A-G) evenly. I would like to be able to have my database do this but I am unsure of where to start on this.
I have a table (tblPrinterSelection) with three fields: Autonumber, DocType, PrinterSel
There are three types of values for "DocType"; "Document", "LargeLabel", "SmallLabel"
I want to assign a "PrinterSel" to each type of "Doctype", which basically means that the user selects the type of document and then the printer in a form that has the code below and then I need the code to automatically update the table.
Code: Dim PrintSel As String Dim DocType As String 'Assign a value to the printer selected variable PrintSel = Me.lblPrinterSelected.Caption If IsNull(Me.frmDocType) Then MsgBox "No document type selected."
[code]....
What i am looking for is code that would pick the value for "DocType" and "PrintSel" assigned here and add them to the table so that I can use that info later.
I am only looking to have three rows in that table so if the "DocType" does not exist then a new row is created but if it does, only the value of "PrintSel" is updated.
I should end up with something like this:
1 Document Epson 2 LargeLabel HP 3 SmallLabel Canon
Morning - I have been searching a bit but to no avail. I have a query (qryTopTenList) set up in a database that selects the Top Ten "Classes" from a table with a key field of "insclass".
I have a multi select list box (LstInsClass) that allows end users to select multiple insurance classes. What I would like to do is set up a standard button that when clicked, will loop through all of the insclass in the query "qryTopTenList" and then select those same insurance classes in my multi select list box. So the end result is that 10 records in the List Box would be selected.
This is helpful b/c it prevents the need to go through the entire list box to select the top ten classes.
I am writing some iif conditional statements in one of my tables to assign new values in that table.
Code: FP: IIf([cohort with status].[Intake Date] Between #04/01/2012# And #26/04/2012#,201201) Or IIf([cohort with status].[Intake Date] Between #27/04/2012# And #24/05/2012#,201202)
When I run it, I am getting some -1 values in the new column FP.
but if I get rid of the second IIF, then it works.
how do you combine multiple IIF statements in a query?
I have a problem in doing a task with my form. Actually I have a button to add a new record which opens a new form there i enter the values to the record. But when I press the Addnew record button I want to calculate the maximum of the Identity field +1 and open the new form with that new number which i have calculated. How can i do this....
I need the ability to assign employees to a different task in each of four different timeslots on a daily basis. What I would like to do is as I assign an employee to a task in timeframe 1, I would like for them to become unavailable to assign to another task in the same timeframe.
For Example: Three employees to assign to three tasks at the 8 AM to 10 AM time slot.
Employee Task Time Assigned
Emp 1, Emp 2, Emp 3 Task 1 8 AM to 10 AM Emp 2-Task 1
Emp 1, Emp 3 Task 2 8 AM to 10 AM Emp 3-Task 2
Emp1 Task 3 8 AM to 10 AM Emp1-Task 3
It would be nice to set this up in a form where my person doing the scheduling can assign an individual to a task and that individual name disappears from the combo boxes, list boxes, or is "greyed-out" in a listing of employees available for the time period for the remaining assignments.
Created a new Query (called qry_Temp) from and existing Query (qry_Test that has fields Field1 - Field5) using QueryDef , and inserted a new Field (FieldX) into it (see example below) using the .Parameters property, then opened a Recordset based on the new Query in order to attempt to enter data values into the new Field (FieldX) for each record in the query - but cannot assign any data values to this new Field (but can to the existing fields) in the new Query?
Dim DB As Database Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim qdfNew As QueryDef Dim strSQL1 As String Dim strSQL2 As String Dim Value1 As Integer
Currently we track areas of non-conformance for a fleet of flight simulators. Each flight simulator has a particular ID number. In some instance an area of non-conformance is associated with a single simulator, at other times it is a fleet wide issue and applies to all or some simulators. In order to track as well as advise leadership and the contractor responsible for maintenance of the simulators of the situation we generate individual response letters.
In order to track each instance of non-conformance my idea was to create a new record for each deficiency. In the event that it is applicable to multiple simulators I would like to fill out the form with all pertinent data and then place a checkbox associated with each simulator and when the record is saved, it creates one record for each simulator with a checkbox ticked.
Once the deficiency on each simulator is fixed, I would check a box for a field called rescinded, which would remove that particular deficiency on that particular simulator from the active list of deficiencies but the others would still remain because they are associated with unique records.
I have a Project Database where I keep track of projects throughout my plant. A project can have one owner or several owners working on it. Is there a way to assign multiple owners to a project?
I tried doing a subform but I don't like how it looks on the form and when I try to do a query that filters based on a person's name, the form has to be a single form rather than a continuous form which is not what I want.
I have multiple databases (Front-end, Back-end, Import, Reporting) which enables auditors in our company to audit loans.
I use an Import database which imports a random sample of loans (10%) into the Back End database for audit. I import a spreadsheet of loans (let's say 5000 loans) into the Import database, and I have the query return 10% of the loans, which is then imported into our Back-end database for audit (500 loans for audit).
Currently the auditors look at the daily list of loans (the 500 imported loans) and divide the work amongst themselves (5 auditors will audit 100 loans each.) They decide Bob will do 1-100; Joe will do 101-200; Bill will do 201-300; etc.
Is there a way using a query to assign these loans to specific auditors when importing the loans into the BE for audit? I would need to enter how many auditors will be working the loans so the work is divided evenly, and then enter the auditor's initials. (Since the auditors perform different audits, I would like the ability to select or key in auditor initials when importing the loans..
