I enabled security on an .mdb which included several users that are in the Full Data Users group. After I did this I needed to add a new form to the application, so I logged into the application and added it. However, though the admin group and the Full Permissions group can access it fine, the Full Data Users group cannot. I have double checked all of the settings and have even rebuilt the .mdw file to no avail. Any thoughts?
View RepliesI have two databases that have been split, and both back ends are in a shared folder on the server that only a few people have authorization to access. One of the front ends is accessed off another shared folder, and the other is saved to each person's desktop. They have been up and running for months, and I've had no problems with users not being able to access data from the back end.
The other day, I requested access to this protected folder for four people, which was granted. But, since the time it was granted, neither database will open unless the user has authorization to access the protected folder. They get an error that says the database is already opened exclusively or they don't have authorization to view its data.
I've created another test db and split it into the same folder, but my users are getting the same error.
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

I have been developing an Access (accdb) in V2013 at home for use in my work environment. Ultimately it will be used by a small number of users in different locations hence my need to split the database into a front end and back-end tables. I have done this many times before in other versions of Access and if the location of the back-end files has been changed when you open the database it prompts you to find the new location and re-link them. Since I am carrying on the development at home/work and then taking the front-end into work/home I need Access to prompt me for the new location. However unless you remove linked tables first Access 2013 will not prompt you for the new location instead it just bypasses that and asks you to open a database so you are stuck in a loop. The database has been designed to open offering users minimal possibility of tinkering so I open holding the 'Shift key' down but this still doesn't prompt me to re-link. Why is the linked table manager not being fired up?
View 7 Replies View Related2013 does NOT recognize DBF files, we are trying to find a solid work around to LINK to our DBF files.
There are about 30 DBF files that get updated EVERY week. And there are about 60 employees that LINK to the various DBF files. Importing is not a realistic solution given these circumstances.
I had an existing database with 2329 records entered into it. All of the fields (220ish) were all in one table. Myself and my co-workers wanted to rebuild the database without losing the data. We wrote queries to transfer the data from the original database to the new database and split the data from the original 1 giant table to 9 smaller tables.
The transfer of data worked so I went to start making forms. When I went to add fields from different tables I had to built a relationship, which I did. All of the data that transferred over from the new database is in the form (now multiple forms linked by button) but I can't add new information. I get an error stating, "You cannot add or change a record because a related record is required in table ..." and the table referenced keeps changing.
Hi. I manage to create Users and permissions with no big problem.
But before do that, i thought that when i created those permissions some of the users which they will
work for, they will not have even a view of TABLES QUERIES FORMS e.t.c
How i can hide that from them?
I did that by Properties and set the option button to Hidden, but imagine if you have 50 to do that.
Then if i go back to do some modifications then is necessary to unhide in order to check.
Is another easiest way of prohibiting users to view.

searched this forum and found:
If your chart is in a form (or report), you have to:
1) refer to the form (or report) name (Form_Charts)
2) refer to the name of the object frame holding your chart (.Graph1)
3) refer to the object within the frame (.Object)
4) refer to the application that created the object (.Application)
5) refer to the actual chart itself (.Chart)
6) refer to the axes collection and select the axis you want to reference - in this case the category, or X-axis (.Axes(xlCategory))
I made the assumption, that I would just replace xlCategory with xlValue for the Y-axis. So I'm back to:

Looked in the Microsoft Graph Visual Basic Reference and it indicated:
"Tick-mark label text for the value axis is calculated based on the MajorUnit, MinimumScale, and MaximumScale properties of the value axis. To change the tick-mark label text for the value axis, you must change the values of these properties."
I reset my code to call these 2 functions prior to changing the number format.....

Within this front page I have an 'enter' button - successfully created - everything.
However, I am unclear as to how you activate this, or any other button. I have linked it to the appropriate form and stated the action I want it to undertake, but nothing is happening.

I have an Access Table with about 28,000 Automobile dealerships across the country shown. I've joined a new/small phone contact table to this to keep up with our phone contacts with the dealership and followup efforts. When I search/filter on the dealership table all is fine. However when I search/filter on the phone contact table with a few test entries, I get nothing at all. I supposed that after joining the tables, I'd be able to do a search on the field named follow up date and find/filter today's date or other dates and locate which dealerships to contact when the correct date arrives. But nothing.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have been asked to design a database to replace our old excel sheet to log one of our customers server builds. It a four noded system and i require a seperate log for each node serial models of parts etc, qa checks.
I intitial started by just using one table but forgot the limit was 255 rows, i need about 600 - 700. So my plan is now to transfer to indivial table for each node. Then, a general table named Main for all my other details.
Although this seems simple, i now have the annoying task of being able to link them all together and produce a single PDF file to send to our customer whilst only entering our system serial number once to produce this.
My basic understanding will be to create a System Serial Number field in each table a link it via relationships, but if i produce a report with everything i need would it input my details for all four nodes? If so how would i set this up?
I will be splitting the database once completed and then making a ACCDE file for my techs to use.
Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?
I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.
I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.
Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?
I am very new to MS Access. I have a main Form - ( Around 20 Projects - 20 Line Items).When I click on the Project Number - It opens a Task. Every Project will have multiple Tasks and when I click on Tasks it opens another form where I have to update the status depending upon the group.Now the problem here is when I click on the Tasks it opens the form but I am not able to save any data in that .When I close and come back all the data is gone.

i am trying to insert multiple values that i have selected in my listbox to my database access table when i click the "add record button" but the values does not appear in my database table.
i have 2 listbox, when i select the first list box(businessNature) it will display the records in the 2nd list box(lstCuisine). However, the records in the the lstCuisine list box is not entered into the table in my database.

I am trying to create a database by compiling records from multiple excel sheets. however, since most of the clients still uses the excel sheets to enter records, I am thinking if it's possible to create a linked table in access from these excel sheets that are hosted on an online server.
also is it possible to merge multiple linked tables together? if they have the same field range, so they will append when the linked tables gets updated.

I am setting up an access 2003 database in a Client/Server configuration. All dat entry is done through queries, forms are not used. I am wondering if it's possible to prevent users in the client database (Or a copy of it) from creating new queries that hang of the linked tables. I want them to hang new queries only from existing queries. This way I can be sure that what they see is always appropriatley filtered. Any ideas?

This is in regards to user security. I'm a relatively new user to Access (and this forum). My company uses Access 2000 and I'm taking over a database thats used by several departments at my company. This database contains sensitive information so I put user security on it using the wizard. Due to the nature of the database, a particular user group needs to have the ability to create new tables. The problem is this: No matter what I do with the user group security settings, I cannot prevent other user groups from creating new tables. Is there a way to prevent certain users from adding a table?

I have a .mdb that opens up to a form (a splash screen I would assume). However, I can not access the form design view or even get the database window. I thought limiting access to design view was done with .mde, even then you have access to the database window. Any explanation on this or help??

I have a combo box which I use to jump to a certain record in a form in Continuous View. The combo box located in the form header which works fine when the code is attached to the OnChange event. But that works premature when I have not finished typing what I am looking for yet. I tried few events for no avail. I need OnLostFocus but I can not tab out of the combo for the life of me, it works when I click out of the combo box with the mouse but I want to use the Keyboard Tab.
How can I fix this?
I have to make it so user group cannot modify/update/delete data in tables, but con do the same in forms. Yet if I uncheck those in 'permissions' it's not possible to change anything forms either

Is there a way of creating a log to capture changes in a table by users?
In a current database that I'm taking over, there was a lot of records deleted from the main table and now I need to figure out what happened.
So, if I would be able to have a log that records all the actions taken by users, I could at least see who did what.
When trying to create an MDE using Access 2002 I get the message
"Microsoft Access was unable to create an MDE database"
The database is split and in Access 2002 format.
Could this be anything to do with References? I say this because I recently downloaded a dll for Redemption to make use of the SafeOutlook Library
