Using A Combo Box From Main Form To Filter In A Function

Aug 26, 2015

=Sum(IIf([Pass or Fail]="Pass" And [Pay Period]="02" And [Location]="Purple",1,0))/IIf(Sum(IIf([Pay Period]="02" And [Location]="Purple",1,0)) = 0, 1, Sum(IIf([Pay Period]="02" And [Location]="Purple",1,0)))

For [Pay Period] ="02" is there a way to make it filter by a combo box from the Mainform? This code is on a Subform the combo box is on a Mainform

Forms![Overview_]![Combo35] <the path for the combo box.

I tried inserting it where the 02 was but it just returns 0 and if I remove the "" it will error the whole thing out. Same if I try to just remove the [Pay Period]="02" and replace it fully it errors out.

Queries :: Filter Records In Combo Box By Form Using In Function

Jun 15, 2013

I want to filter the records in a combo box (cboSupplier) using the In() function.

On the form I have an unbound control called "intFilter". It contains the following string: 23, 58

The SQL statement for the combo box is

Code:
SELECT SupplierID, SupplierName
FROM tblSupplier
ORDER BY SupplierName;

In the criteria for field SupplierId I want to use the In() function so that the only records returned by the combo box are those in "intFilter". I have tried

Code:
In (Forms![frmSupplierReport]![intFilter]

but this does not work.

If I put: In (23, 58) in the criteria it works, but I cannot hard code it because the string in "intFilter" will change on the fly!

How would I achieve this?

Filter Main Form From Subform

Nov 16, 2005

I have a main form that contains basic project information, and one of many subforms that contains project manager and contract information. (forms and subs linked by project ID) My project managers want to have the ability to only show project records that are theirs. I can make a filter based on any field in the main form without a problem using code like below.

Dim strFilter As String
strFilter = "ILFID Like '*FME*'"
Me.Filter = strFilter
Me.FilterOn = True

How do I write a filter to reference the project manager field in a subform that will actually filter the main form and subform records?

Thanks!

Filter Subform From Main Form Combobox

Jan 9, 2006

I have a main form with an unbound combo box. I also have a subform showing records in datasheet view.on the after_update event of the combobox I want to filter the subform. Here is my code (note frmqrysubmittals is the subform and the recordsource for the subform is initially the RS1 portion of code):Dim RS1 As StringDim RS2 As StringDim RS3 As StringRS1 = "SELECT tblSubmittals.SubmittalID, tblSubmittals.Format, tblSubmittals.[Specification Section], tblContractorInfo.Contractor, tblSubmittals.[Project Number], tblSubmittals.Description FROM tblContractorInfo INNER JOIN tblSubmittals ON tblContractorInfo.ContractorID = tblSubmittals.ContractorID"RS2 = " WHERE (((tblContractorInfo.Contractor)=" & Chr$(34) & Me.cboContractor.Value & Chr$(34) & "));"rs3 = RS1 & RS2Me.frmqrySubmittals.Form.RecordSource = rs3me.frmqrySubmittals.form.requeryWhen I update the cbo box the subform doesn't display any records. When I go to design view and look at the record source it displays the RS1 portion (the original RS), but all of the terms are placed in brackets []. Note, the subform and contorl are both named frmqrySubmittals.I've been at this for days. What am I doing wrong?Thank you everyone for your help. Forms :: Filtering A Combo Box On A Subform From A Combo Box On A Main Form

Apr 27, 2013

I have a Suppliers database which contains a form that will allow me to place orders with Suppliers.The Main form has a combo box that allows me to select the supplier. The combo box is called SupplierID with the following:

Row source: SELECT Suppliers.SupplierID, Suppliers.CompanyName FROM Suppliers ORDER BY Suppliers.CompanyName;

The subform is called Stock Subform witha combo box called ProductID with the following:

Row source: SELECT DISTINCT Products.ProductID, Products.ProductName, Suppliers.CompanyName, Products.Discontinued FROM Suppliers INNER JOIN Products ON Suppliers.SupplierID=Products.SupplierID WHERE (((Products.Discontinued)=0)) ORDER BY Products.ProductName;
Event Procedure - AfterUpdate: Private Sub ProductID_AfterUpdate()
On Error GoTo Err_ProductID_AfterUpdate
Dim strFilter As String
' Evaluate filter before it's passed to DLookup function.
strFilter = "ProductID = " & Me!ProductID

[code]..

The Link fields are done on the Purchase Order ID (PONoID).What I want to achieve is to select the supplier from the combo box (SupplierID) on the main form and then the combo box (ProductID) on the subform to filter to only show products directly supplied by the Supplier selected on the Main Form.

same postcode
Same company (different location)
everyone except Main form customer

I cannot get a different filter (Query) to show only customers whose name begins with the same letter as the customer in the main form?I have been trying Like but think I am referencing it wrong, as it prompts me to enter a value rather than using the value in the field in the main form.This is what I have in the query (of the subform)

Customer Name: Like "[Forms]![NewAllCustomerListF]![CustomerName]" & "*"

Forms :: Applying Quick Filter In Main Form Causes Data To Not Show In Subform?

Sep 3, 2013

I have a pretty simple form that includes subform. Subform's table is linked to main form's table with parent/child relation. Connecting fields are main table's ID field and corresponding field in child table. Subform is in datasheet view. This is pretty basic stuff so there should not be any problems, but every time I apply a quick filter in main form it causes data in subform become invisible. There is single row in subform, but all it's fields are empty.

Problems Using A Combo Box To Filter Records In Another Combo Or A Sub-form

Nov 8, 2004

I have seen a few articles here and there on using a combo box to filter records in a sub-form and to filter records in another combo box, but I am not getting anywhere. I hope someone can belp

Exercise 1

For this exercise, I have the following tables:

tblClients containing client names
tblProjects containing some project details

I want to set up a simple form, so that the user can select a client name from a combo box on the main form which filters the project detail records in the Projects sub-form.
Once the user enters project details, I want this info as well as the selected ClientID to be fed back to tblProjects.

Exercise 2

I have the following tables:

tblProjects as above
tblWorkstream containiig names of workstreams and some other details.

Every project has one or more workstreams

I have a form where users will enter hours worked on each workstream. They will first select Project from a combo box on the main form. This should then filter records to be displayed in the Workstream Combo box, before they can then enter hours.

Please let me know if you need me to explain any part of this better.

Thanks in advance.

ps. I am a novice, so I'm hoping to do the above using default MS stuff, not with complex programming!!!

Thanks

Combo Box Synchronization Between Main Form And Subform?

Jul 17, 2005

I have a main form with a subform. On my main form, I have a combo box set to "find a record on my subform, based on what I select in the combo box." This works great! At the same time, I want to use this main form combo box to synchronize with a combo box in the subform to display a value based upon the value selected in the main form's combo box. I have tried several things and searched Access newsgroups without success. I am using MS Access 2002, producing an Access 2000 database. Has anyone got any ideas? I could really use some help. Thank-You.

Forms :: Requerying Values In A Subform After Updating Combo Box In Main Form

Apr 21, 2015

Within my main form I have a combo box called "workgroup." Also in the main form is a subform called "sfrmSubmissionRecords," and within this subform is a combo box called "covermemo."

Each cover memo is assigned to a specific workgroup, so my intention is for each time a new workgroup is selected from the dropdown, the covermemo combo box in the subform becomes populated only with the covermemos associated with that workgroup. I'm almost finished except for the final step when I try to make the values regenerate...Access says that can't find the referenced form "sfrmSubmissionRecords"

This is the code that I'm using:

Private Sub cmbWorkgroup_AfterUpdate()
Forms![sfrmSubmissionRecords]![cmbCovermemo].Requery

Forms :: Existing Data In Field Of Subform Also Filtered By Combo Box On Main Form

Mar 7, 2014

I have a form with subform (datasheet) .

On my subform i have one field which shows the

productId ( which is filtered from combo boxes on main form) .
productId contains two columns
1 bound column(id) ( hidden with width 0 )
2 column (desription) ( shown with width 2 )

Now after entering the data when i come back to the form again . It hides the data from the productId field on subform , because data in combo box (on main form) doesn't match. Although the row is showing up , only the text in field (productId) is hidden.

Now when i change data in combo box on main form to match the ProductId , then the productId field text shows again. after changing combo box it hides . What i need is the existing data should not hide when i change the combo box selection.

see pic 1 where product matches and pic 2 where not. please note i am using master child relationship on the form/subform.

Why Is Main Form Update Event Triggered When Subform Dirties Main Form?

Dec 1, 2005

I have a subform which makes a change to a field on the main form. When focus is returned to the main form, the BeforeUpdate and AfterUpdate events fire. Why? I thought from the form's perspective, the subform is just another control.

BTW, I get the same behavior if I modify the field from within the Exit event of the subform control.

In either case, the main form's Dirty event is NOT triggered.

Filter Combo Box Query From A Form Field

Feb 21, 2008

If anybody could shine some light it would be much appreciated.
I have 3 tables:
Task table---*Task ID, Task(txt), Start(date/Time), finish(date/Time)
Tasking table---*TaskingID, TaskID, EmployeeID
employee table---*EmployeeID, Name(txt)
The employee and task table are joined to the tasking table. This is so i can have a task which has many employees and an employee with many tasks. What i'm try to do is create a form which starts a task with a subform to add employees, but with combo box which filters employees with tasks which over-lap the task in focus(start and finish fields) but still showing employees which do not yet have any tasks. the start and finish fields are hh:nn dd/mm/yy.
If anybody can help i would be very grateful

Forms :: Combo Box Filter Continuous Form

May 16, 2013

combo boxes and continuous forms.I have a continuous form (works great), with two combo boxes that navigate (rather than limit/ filter the list) to the desired selection.One for suburb and one for postcode.

I have expanded the select criteria for the suburb to include postcode as some suburb names are used in more than one state. (I do not want to have to select a state, then suburb).I changed the column count to see the postcode next to the suburb, however when the selection is made only the first instance is selected.

Example.
Epping 2121
Epping 3076

If I chose Epping 3076, Epping 2121 is selected and the continuous form navigates to that suburb (rather than the one with 3076).Can I change this so that I can still search by postcode, or search by suburb and have the form navigate to the corrected suburb postcode combination?

Forms :: Combo Box - Search Function Not Working Within Form

Jul 23, 2015

I recently created a database to be used to store incoming invoices. We have 4 suppliers which supply the same material and wanted each supplier to have its own database.

I began by making a database which included all the key tables, forms, queries and functions I would need to then save 4 copies, one for each supplier. This just meant I would not have to repeat the process for each individual supplier.

The problem is all my data is external and upon importing it into the database it has made the search function (combo box) not return results.

I believe this is because:
1) The form was created before the records existed
2) The records were imported from an external source and not created using the form.

However, the way I have designed the form is so I can see all relevant information linked with a specific invoice. This aids in gathering information quickly about an invoice but also so I can input credit note and invoice query information linked to a specific invoice on the same page.

Is there anyway to remedy this?

Or use a similar search function that returns records in my form "Main View"

The last thing I want to do is have to create the form again, although I don't think this will work either as reason 2) states.

Queries :: Filter Data From A Table Using Combo Box In A Form

Feb 19, 2015

I would like to filter a data from a table using a combo box in a form.

The field I would like to filter is called ManufacturersID in MainTable and consist of text and wildcard characters [e.g., Teledyne O&G (ODI), TE Connectivity (Deutsch), etc...], so are the combo strings which are extracted from the table ManufacturersTable. It is not filtering anything. I suspect that the wildcards and spaces are the problem. I also tried to get the combo string to a text box in the form and use it in the query with no success. Additionally, I also tried Like [Forms]![FormName]![textbox] in query criteria but still not filtering...

How can I overcome this?

Forms :: Two Combo Boxes To Filter Form Won't Work Together

May 8, 2013

I have a database and a form that is based off of a simple table. The table has NO look ups and all of the formatting is text. The form is continuous and simply displays these fields. (Kind of like a company roster with name and department). I have two combo boxes at the top of this form in the header with the intent of filtering the form records by department and employee type (lets say A or B).

I have tried every way I know how to get these records to filter and they will not filter correctly. Utilizing methods I have used in multiple other databases, I set the two comboboxes to cascade based on a query in the recordsource. The vba I'm using in the after event of each combo is ....

Me.Filter = "[Brand] = '" & Me.cbobrand & "'"
Me.FilterOn - True
'Brand is the "department" and the other identical code is for Personel_Type

This filters the records but independently. So, cbobox1 filters the records to show all Brand 1. When cbobox2 selection is made it shows all the Personel_Type of the selection however the first filter is already disregarded. (i.e. When cbobox2 selection is made, it contains both brands instead of the one I've just selected and filtered in cbobox1. )

Outside of making two queries to account for each possible filter, I have tried setting a filter on the filterON, I have tried a SQL based VBA code, I have tried making two forms and attempting to set the filter on open but either way, nothing keeps the first filter selected (or the FilterON, or both SQL filters, etc). The ONLY way I have found to get it to filter both is with the filter function in Access, which is not useful as my users will not have access to the menu bars.

I have this EXACT same setup in another database and it works fine with 3 cbo boxes with an after even to set a filter for the recordsource for all three.
