Using A Form Button To Open And Insert Data Into A Word Doc
May 12, 2006
Hi all,
Not sure if this is in the right section but heres my question.
How can i gett a button to open a word document and put in specific information. for example. to send a client a letter, the button would open a word doc with the specfic client data in it.
Also a button to start a mail merge with all client records held on the db.
I have an access form that fills an access table (MS Access 2003). Also, I have a Word (2010) document/template with some template text and empty fields which should be filled with data from access. Is it possible to insert a button in access form which would open a word document and populate appropriate fields with data from that form?
I am trying to open a word document with corresponding data filled from the text field of a form. I managed to get the word document but I don't know how to give a variable in word document.
I am creating a database. I have all my forms, queries, tables, reports just as I need them. However, I would like to have a command button on my switchboard that will pull from a query to feed to a Word document (that's actually a letter on my company letterhead). I know a Macro has to be involved with this, but again, I have little to no knowledge of Macros. Also, I would like to be prompted to enter a client ID number when I click on this command button (because I only want to print a letter for a new client, not all of them).
I'm doing a project for my work. I created a few reports in Access. Some of these reports are simple graphic bars. How can I insert these reports into a word document template?
I have a subform in which I want to put in a Command Button to open another form.
I used the wizard as per normal, but when you come to matching specific data fields, there is nothing in my left hand column of the sub form. I have checked the record source property and it is bound to the correct table.
I have read that this is an issue with Access 2007? Is this the case or am I missing something obvious here?
I want to have information on a form tab. Is it possible to insert a Word document in the tab? This will consist of a set of instructions for the user.
I am new with ms Access. I am using 2013 version and stuck with "pretty" easy task.
When I create the form, the values are inserted/updated constatly as I leave the input components. However I would like to insert/update the record only when I click the button. How to do that?
Well the title says it all. I need to create a button to lock the info on the form so it can't be edited and at the same time insert the date. Any ideas?
Hi all I need to run a certain file from the form I create a button as follows Select in the categories "Applications" then select "Run Ms Word" I have tested it and it open Word but not even a blank page I then open the code as seen below and want to insert the filename but do not know where. Can someone please help me?
Private Sub Command35_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Command35_Click
Dim oApp As Object
Set oApp = CreateObject("Word.Application") oApp.Visible = True
Hello, I am a researcher creating critical editions of ancient texts by collating readings from several manuscripts (i.e. different mss all contain minor differences). I create my edition in Word and use footnotes to record the variant readings. I also have a database - created from the word file - in which I can add context to each variant e.g. decisions, history etc. So I have a word file containing the text and its variants uniquely identified with a footnote reference and a database with one table and a record per variant and where the variant records are also unique and share the same number as the footnote. I would very much like to be able to open a window on my variant form which displays the word file at the correct variant (i.e. footnote reference) location. This will make it easier for me to record my assessments of the variant in the dbase while looking at where the variant occurs in the text. Obviously I don't need to see the footnote window as I have this info in the dbase. I haven't got a clue how to do this and would appreciate any pointers. Many thanks in advance, Tim
I have fairly large Access 2003 tables and forms on my job. I am curious if I can open word document off the form by using command button. Very often I need to put info off the form to word and sent it via e-mail to clients so I every time I have to keep a lot open word documents at the same time on my computer 10 or more that is slow pc down. I would like to have like this : on specific form I have command button and when i need to work with word document , click that button that will open specific word doc and when I am done I think I need a second command button to safe and close word document and so that i can attach it to e-mail and sent it out. So every time I need to work with word doc, I can open it off the form and close it also when I am done with it so no word doc would be open unnecessarily.
I would like to open a Word document using a button control on a form to a file path listed in a field on the form. I use the following code when I want to open a single specific document...
Dim wdApp As Word.Application, wdDoc As Word.Document On Error Resume Next Set wdApp = GetObject(, "Word.Application") If Err.Number <> 0 Then 'Word isn't already running Set wdApp = CreateObject("Word.Application") End If On Error GoTo 0 Set wdDoc = wdApp.Documents.Open(File path here) wdApp.Visible = True
...but in this case the file path I want to use will be designated by a field on the form. I know I could just use a hyperlink but I don't like the way it looks on the form. I would rather hide that field and have code pull that path when I hit the button.
So how would I change my code to make it so the value in the file path field on the form goes in where it says "File path here" in my code above?
http://www.heathrowminicab.com/xxx.JPGI have a blank form.. with 2 controls..Textbox - name is 'text'Button - name is 'button'my user will type in something like this..pictures/db1/db1.jpgall i want is that when they press the button.. the url 'http://www.mysite.com/"is added to the data in the textbox and the url is opened.. this of course will allow my user to test whether the image they are referring to exists..can this be done.. if so what code do i need to add to my controls.
i have created a form that has data in a field as a referance, i want to use that ref to open a page or PDF file to that referance ,
The idea is that the form is the data input for hard copy documents, i will scan the documents and store them on a hard drive i then want to open the documents as word, or PDF files from the form to the ref of the field in that form
Basically I have a Customer Form, which I have a New party button on it,this button opens up the party form to a new party, what I would like it to do is open up a new party but make the new party for the customer I had selected in the previous form.I have tried the GoTo macro's but cannot seem to get it to work.
I am thinking on clicking the button it will need to get the Customer ID, and then open the party form, create new party, and paste in the Customer ID, which then updates the Name - Date - Address - Company Fields.
Quick overview so you understand: I have two databases, one which contains form(s) that allow users to enter in legal type cases. It has a subform in which has four fields to insert OLE objects. This form draws its data from a linked table in a database called Attachments. Not all cases have 'attachments' & the attachments are associated to cases by case number.
Anyway, my delima is - I am trying to make a less 'clunky' way for the end-user to insert objects to the cases. Currently, they can click on a button that will open the Insert Object box. It isn't that complex for a developer to use, but the regular end user, it is quite complex. Also, once an object has been inserted, it renames it. (FYI: These objects are being imported & not linked) When inserting the object, you can decide you want it to be an icon shown in the OLE field & thus you can name it there. But the problem is, if you double-click to open the document it gives it a new name that is associated with the form name. It does not retain the original file name. Does anyone know of a way for it to retain the original file name??
That is my 'biggest' problem here since these files maybe updated & even emailed - Being that they are legal documents, it would be good that they retain the name. I have just begun to use OLE objects fields so I am very, very new to this.
I have a continuous form in which I put a command button for each record called "detail". I would like to click on the "detail" button and make it open another form containing all (and only) the info on this record.
At first I refused to use an "id" to link both forms, but finally I added the "id" in the table... however still does not work.
continuous form: "04 - GASTOS_BUSQUEDA" id field on continuous form: "Gastid"
pop-up (details) form: "GASTOS_EDITAR" id on pop-up (details) form: "editar_id"
This is what I have tried on the "click" properties of the "details" button field (called "btn_editgs"):
4) Private Sub btn_editgs_Click() On Error GoTo btn_editgs_Click_Err Dim strWhere As String strWhere = "[editar_id] = " & Me.Gastid DoCmd.OpenForm "GASTOS_EDITAR", , , strWhere btn_editgs_Click_Exit: Exit Sub btn_editgs_Click_Err: MsgBox Error$ Resume btn_editgs_Click_Exit End Sub
I currently have two forms: frmE_SAFind and frmE_SAOrder
frmE_SAFind shows results from a query including fields [txtIDPO] and [dtmDate] Example: IDPO Date btnOpnFrm 6543 2/1/05 btnOpnFrm 5681 1/1/05
frmE_SAOrder shows order details including [txtIDPO] and [dtmDate]
I have a open form command button set up on [frmE_SAFind] that opens [frmE_SAOrder]. Is it possible for me to modify its properties so that when the open form command button is clicked, the order details in [frmE_SAOrder] will represent the order that the user is selecting via the btnOpnFrm command?
Example: If I click btnOpnFrm for 6543, [frmE_SAOrder] will show me PO 6543 details.
Hopefully I made myself clear enough to understand. Thanks for your help!
I have made a form. By giving an ID up firstly this form of the concerning person appears. Now I want to make a link to a report on this form. The intention is then that only those data are shown in the report of the concerning person (therefore with the ID that is reflected in the form).
Now I can open the report by means of a button... but then to get the correct data I have now used a query with a parameter value (the ID) (the report has been based on these query). But the situation is now therefore that if you click on the button that you must introduce the parameter value firstly. Is there also a solution where this is no longer necessary??... therefore that you have to click only on the button and then the concerning data of the report are shown. Therefore by giving in or an other manner the ID with. ??
Hopefully it is understandable, (my english is not that good...)
Good morning All, I have a form with a command button to open a report ( based on a query ) for the currently displayed record. here is the code I have used:
Private Sub CS_notes_Click() On Error GoTo Err_CS_notes_Click Dim stDocName As String
I believe this came from this forum sometime. When the button is clicked I receive the error: "Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression '(TLAUnit = 26712B')'
TLAUnit is the report field, UnitSN is the form field. Any help with the error? Thanks Kevin
