Using Record Number And Total Coount In A Calculation
Nov 20, 2007
I have an Access query that lists completed company forms by days to complete in descending order. I want to use the reccord number and total record count to present the percentage of forms that were completed at each completion date. Ther purpose is to quickly show that 80 percent of forms are completed within 60 days. This is easy to do in Excel using the Row() and Count() funtions such as 1-Row()/Count($A$1:$A$5000).
Is there a way to do this same thing in Access?

I need a solution for the following problem:
For example:
............F1 F2 F3
Rec1 ....4 ..2 ..5
Rec2 ....3 ..3 ..1
Rec3 ....1 ..2 ..1
Now, I want to know how many 1s are there in Rec3 the answer is obviously 2 but I want a field(F4, for e.g) that calculates F1+F2+F3 showing all their 1s 2s and 3s.
A solution I found was...... F4=IIf([F1],1,0)+IIf([F2],1,0)+IIf([F3],1,0)
But I have over 50 Fields that contain 1s and 2s and I can't count them all by using this formula as it will be tremendously long and access will reject it.
So I need another formula(or function) that will look up for the 1s across multiple fields and show the total count for each record in a new field.
Tried 'look up' function but achieved nothing ....

Good Day!
I seem to be running into a calculation problem in one of my queries. I have two fields in the query, AdmitDate and DischargeDate. I built in an expression, Exp100 to catculate the date diff in days between these two dates. Now what I want to do is display a count of the grand total days. So, if I have the following three records:
ID AdmitDate DischargeDate Exp100
1..... 01/01/06.........01/15/06............15
2......07/12/06.........07/19/06............7
3......04/27/06.........04/30/06............3
My query should display:
Healthy Plan Total Patients=3
Healthy Plan Total # Days = 25
How can I program this to correctly display this information? Thanks for any help or advice, it would be most welcome at this point. Cheers.

Hi, All:
I have been struggling for this question for a long time.
I have a total query coming from two tables. This query has following field:
productline
device
component
The table has more field. One of them is status for component field.
My application is that there are many productline. Under each productline, there are many devices. Under each device, there are many components. Each component has one of 4 statuses. The status is text value, 'Yes', 'No', 'UR', and blank.
In the form, I need to use continuous form to display each device with totalcomponent (I use Count of component), percentage of status1 based on totalcomponent, percentage of status2, etc.
My question is:
I tried to use Count(IIF([status] = 'Yes', 1, 0)) to get percentage. But [status] = 'Yes' seems not right because I got a count of all statuses, the same result of CountOfComponent
Really need help
Thank you much

Is this possible? In my invoice form I have 3 different tax rates. I have put a calculation in each of the Control Sources to calculate the invoice sub total:
=[Invoice Sub Total]*0.13 =[Invoice Sub Total]*0.05 =[Invoice Sub Total]*0.09975
I don't always use all the tax rates. I would like to be able to go back into a tax rate field I don't need and delete it.

We have a form where we enter various amounts and a box where these are added together to calculate taxes. This amount is shown on the screen but we need to save this total amount in the table where it can be used in other calculations in other forms
The control in the box looks like this:
=[registration fee]+[membership fee]+[fee per term]+[additional classes fee]+[costume]+[books]-[discount]+[applicable gst]+[uniform fee]
How can I get the result of this formula saved in another table field?

Hi,
How can i do the following -
When a date is typed in a text box, ie, 17/01/05
I want a Query to return what Number week in the year it comes from.
In this example the result would be Week "3"
I'm sure this would be easy enough to do if i typed in every day in the year into a table with the
week number beside it.
Is there some code or a more straight forward way.
hope all makes sense, if not i can go into greater detail.

a. have a control on the save button which pops up a message if the final day is greater than the commence day and so preventing the save record
b. Or if the final day is entered and is recognised as a date before the commence day then to pop a message saying so and preventing the save record.

I have a report I want to generate in Access 2010. I have a text box with the following:
Code:
="Page " & [Page] & " of " & ([Pages]+[Forms]![ReportForm]![PageCount])
What I am attempting to do is increase the maximum number for the total number of pages in the report. As it reads right now when I go into print preview it looks like
"Page 1 of " That is all. It doesn't seem to calculate the new total number of pages. Yes the report form is open, and yes there is value in the PageCount in the Report Form.I had this working in another database, but this one isn't being as nice. The reason for adding to the total page count is because additional pages will be added to the report that aren't in the database. how to increase the total number of pages in the report.

It is like a date calculator.
1. I have 12 unbound text boxes in the unbound form in 6 pairs.
2. Text1 receives the arrival date and Text2 receives departure date, Text3 receives arrival date and Text4 receives the departure date and so on.
3. A person may have any number of arrivals and departures between 1 to 6.
4. The person should not stay in this country for more than 6 years.
I need to calculate from the final departure date, the total number of days the person stayed in this country and the remaining allowable years months and days the person can stay in this country ( deducted from the 6 years period ).
5. Please note the final departure date can be in Text2 or Text4 or Text 6 field.

I have a continuous subform. Because the records are often many, the user needs to scroll down the page.
How do I have a text box in each row that shows Record x of Total Records?
I tried setting a text box control source = [currentrecord] in the Detail area of the subform but it didn't work . It did weird things because I suspect the control is trying to show the record that has the focus or something

In one table, I have a few fields. One of the field is "ItemSequence" and another one is "TotalPcs"."ItemSequence" is where user key in the sequence number for one or more item. 5 example for possible content of "ItemSequence" is as following :
1) 7
2) 4,6,9
3) 5-9
4) 3,5,9, 23-25
5) 3-5, 8-10
"TotalPcs" is the total number of items key in to "ItemSequence". For the 5 example above, the related "TotalPcs" should be as following:
1) 1 (1 item, which is item 7 alone)
2) 3 (3 item which is item 4, 6 and 9)
3) 5 (5 item which is item 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9)
4) 6 (6 item which is item 3, 5, 9, 23, 24 and 25 )
5) 6 (6 item, which is item 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 10)
For time being, the user have to count manually to get the "TotalPcs". I wonder is there a way to calculate the "TotalPcs" by programming?

Basically I have a report that shows any 'Issues' that wasnt closed within the KPI Target.
I have the report working, but I simply want to do a count of how many days the observations overran the 'Target Date of Closure'.
The report also shows observations that are not closed but passed their Target Date of Closure. These observations will not have a 'Actual Closure Date', but I would like to still have a count of how many days its overrun closure.
This is a formula I tried to piece together but obviously not correct as it's not returning anything;
IIf(IsNull([Issues]![Actual Closure Date]),DateDiff("d",[Issues]![Target Date of Closure],
Date()),DateDiff("d",[Issues]![Target Date of Closure],[Issues]![Actual Closure Date]))

FROM [LAPTOPS]
WHERE (((Date)Between [Enter Start Date] AND [Enter End Date]));
UNION

I am trying to count the number of records in a subform where the text box (txtFinal) = RPR-RPR & RTN. The subform is called PartNumbers. The table name the subform is bound to is named Completed.
I tried using =DCount("[Part Number]","Completed","[Final] = 'RPR-RPR & RTN'"). That is counting the total number of records in the table, not the total number of records in the subform. How do I get it to count the total number of records in the subform?

I'm trying to run a line of code after doing a Query Search that reports back the total number of results pulled from the search. I've dug around and found some useful code, but nothing that gives the results I'm needing. Most everything gives me the total number from the query. I'm also using a Split Form.
The process goes: Enter numeric search in Text10 and hit the search button to run the following macro: [studentID]=[Forms]![Query1]![Text10]
It then gives me the requested information.I have a second text box (Text19) that needs to display the number of pulled results. I've written VBA that only gives me the total number searched for studentID or for the entire Query.
Can I simply add an additional line to the Macro?

I am interested in reporting so need totals, I can write a query that will count the number of machines in a dept like so
SELECT [Computer Inventory].Department, Count([Computer Inventory].ID) AS CountOfID
FROM [Computer Inventory]
GROUP BY [Computer Inventory].Department;
This works fine, however I now want to add more so are two fields

Is_migrated
These are just checkboxes so I assume criteria is true or false
I need a query which will give me
The total number of machines by dept

I have 2 tables linked with a 1 to many relationship by NAME. Tables look like this....
TBL-STORE
NAME ADDRESS
Walmart 12 Nowhere
Target 14 Somewhere
Lowes 10 Anywhere
Sears 16 Nowhere
TBL-PURCHASES
NAME [NUMBER OF ITEMS] [PURCHASE DATE]
Walmart 4 1/4/14
Walmart 2 1/5/14
Target 0 1/5/14
Lowes 3 1/5/14
Sears 1 1/5/14
Sears -1 (returned to store) 1/6/14
I want a DISTINCT COUNT of [NAME] if Total[NUMBER OF ITEMS]>0, so the correct number will be 2 in the example.
This is one way I've tried to write the SQL, but I keep getting an error...
SELECT Count([TBL-STORE].[NAME])
FROM [TBL-STORE] INNER JOIN [TBL-PURCHASES] ON [TBL-STORE].[NAME] = [TBL-PURCHASES].[NAME]
WHERE ([TBL-PURCHASES].[NUMBER OF ITEMS]>1)
HAVING ([TBL-STORE].[NAME])="DISTINCT");
I also tried an Count(IiF( and can't get that to work either..
