Validation Condition Where At Least One Of Four Fields Meets Criteria

Jul 29, 2015

Windows XP
MS Access 2007
VBA experience is very limited

So in my forms 'BeforeUpdate' property I want to validate whether a condition is met. The condition is whether 'any one of 4 fields contains something (text or number)'. I have written this code for validating a single condition and it alerts if the field is left blank. This code returns a warning message when the field is blank.

If Me.[txtObjective] & "" = "" Then
MsgBox "A 'Problem Objective' is required, please complete this field.", vbOKOnly
Me.[txtObjective].SetFocus
Cancel = True

[code]...

how to write the SetFocus part. And I dont know if this is correct anyway.

One Field Meets Criteria Of Another?!?!

Jan 16, 2007

Hi,
I have one field, for this example, FieldA and another FieldB.
I would like the following:
If fieldA =1 then FieldB must = 1 or 3 or 4. If not then I would like a message box saying it needs to check. Otherwise I don't want anything to happen.

How can I do this? and where do I put any expressions?
thanks
Sue

Select Those In A Column That Meets Character Count Criteria

Nov 4, 2005

Hey, I know this is probably a simple thing to do, but I couldn't find it anywhere on the web so hopefully someone here can help.

I have a column of UPC codes which are a bunch of #'s. I need to find the ones that have more than or less than 12 characters.

Thanks

Modules & VBA :: Code To Add Data In The Listbox That Meets Certain Criteria?

Jul 17, 2014

I have a Access table that stores BatchNo,Scandate,NewBatchNo . As I can't attach Access database here so I have exported data from Access to Excel in Sheet1 to show how the data is stored in Access table.

Now I have to write code in VBA that will check the last NewBatchNo in the table . In the attached workbook its 194389. Now vba code should check the NewBatchNo which are blank before 194389 . Now in the records where NewBatchNo is blank , it should add the corresponding BatchNo,ScanDate in the listbox1 in form1.

e.g Sheet2 in the attached workbook stores Bathcno and Scandate of those records where NewBatchNo is null and before the Last used NewBatchNo which is 194389 in our example.

General :: Automatically Delete Data That Meets Criteria?

Mar 15, 2013

I'm an amateur (is there such a thing as having databases as a hobby?) with little training. I volunteered to organize a growing volunteer group I'm a part of by making a simple database for the volunteer office staff. One of the things I want it to do is make name tags for our weekly meetings. I don't want to print one for each name on our list because the list is over 400 names long with only around 35 regular attendees. I made two tables--one is the MakeNameTag table that lists regular attendees (it is a lookup field on the Names table).

The other is the Absences table. It has two fields; DateOfAbsence and MakeNameTag. If someone misses a meeting (does not pick up their name tag), their name is added to the Absences table. A query then filters the table for dates in the last 28 days. If their names shows up four times in the last 28 days I want for their name to be deleted from the MakeNameTag table. How to do that automatically? Our office volunteers have minimal PC skills, so the solution needs to be very user-friendly.

Queries :: Identify Subsequent Records Where Original Record Meets A Criteria

Aug 8, 2014

I have a table [PickData] in a WMS (Warehouse Management System) database, that records details of each item picked. The key fields are;

[Movement] - a unique ID for a collection of items to be picked.
[ToAssignRef] - the order ID
[Product] - the product!
[Picked] - the date/time the item was scanned
[Pick Actioned] - the date/time the [ToAssignRef] was completed
[Reason] - A code to indicate why an item could not be picked - AKA F3'd

An operative would be allocated a movement, connected to the [ToAssign Ref], containing a number of products to pick. If an item can not be picked for some reason the operative presses F3 and selects a reason (no stock, damaged etc). These F3'd items (other stock allowing) will later be picked on a different [Movement]. I need a query to identify the subsequent [Movements] and the associated fields following the occurance of an F3'd [ToAssignRef] & [Product].

I have a query, but it runs very slowly (perhaps due to the DB size currently 780K records). Is this the right approach, is there a better (faster) way to do this?

Code:
SELECT PickData.ToAssignRef, PickData.Product, PickData.Picked
FROM PickData
GROUP BY PickData.ToAssignRef, PickData.Product, PickData.Picked
HAVING (((DCount("[Movement]","[PickData]","([ToAssignRef]='" & [ToAssignRef] & "') AND ([Product]='" & [Product] & "')"))<>0));

Reports :: Showing All Detail Records If One Record In Query Meets Criteria

Mar 5, 2013

I am trying to create a report which basically includes the following:

Company, Wages, Contribution.

Each company reports wages for each employee every month. Then they also contribute to a general fund based on a percentage of the wages. For instance:

Company---Employee---Wages---Contribution
CompanyA---EmployeeA---$4000---$40
CompanyA---EmployeeB---$3800---$38
CompanyA---EmployeeC---$3800---$38
CompanyB---EmployeeA---$4200---$42
CompanyB---EmployeeB---$4200---$42

...and so on.

Each employee is required to contribute, in this example, 1% of gross wages to the general fund.

On occasion, the company does not pay in the required 1% of gross, say, for CompanyA EmployeeA, they only paid in $35.

Here is what I need to do. If any contribution amount for any employee is incorrect, I want to display all the records for that company, not just the incorrect ones. The report is grouped by Company, and may contain dozens of companies.

I am already passing a number of criteria to the report using a filter, including the date range and other fields which are informational.

I can't get the True condition to work at all, I get no records. Here is what I'm using

IIf([Forms]![FrmAttendanceLogsRpt]![BlkFilter]=-1,[TempVars]![EID] Or 86,[TempVars]![EID])

If I just put
[TempVars]![EID] Or 86
in the Criteria it works just fine.

Condition For Displaying Fields

Apr 27, 2008

I’ve created a report containing two labels and two text boxes. The “Record Source” for the report is Tbl_MasterList2. The control source for both text boxes is named field4 and field5, which are based in Tbl_MasterList2. As a result, my report displays all records from Tbl_MasterList2, field4 & field5 including those, which are blank.

How do I write an expression in my report that will allow me to display the values in field4 if filed2 = stringXYZ?

Tables :: Set Up Validation Of Fields Unit And Size Based On Another Fields Data?

Basically in my order details table i have the following fields

Product
Unit
Size

At the moment i have the Product field with a dropdown that gives me all the products from my ProductT. But once i choose the correct product in the unit field it gives me all the possibilities of every product not just the units associated with that product. ie

ProductT

Grasshopper Box1000 Subadult
Worm 10pz Big

When I select the grasshopper product and move on to the unit field i also get "10pz" option but this is not a product available.

General :: Validation Rules With Multiple Criteria?

Aug 13, 2013

I've been trying to get a field to behave but for some reason I must have done something wrong.

For this specific field people should only use numbers between 10,000 and 19,999 or between 80,000 and 89,999.

In the validation rule option I input:

Or Between 10000 And 19999 Or Between 80000 And 89999

I've also tried

>=10000 And <= 19999 Or >= 80000 And <=89999.

But for some reason MS Access accepts the first section of the validation but not the second part.

Also: I've read that the validation rule is better managed at the Form level on the "Before Update" field, I'm currently managing it directly on the table in the field property. What should I use?

Forms :: Using Data From Another Table As Validation Criteria For A Field In Form?

Mar 24, 2015

I've two tables, QA (Quality Assurance) and Instruments. I'm using form to add data to QA.

There's a field in QA, named InstrumentUsed. The criteria is that InstrmentUsed should only accept value when 'status' field in Instruments table shows 'working'. If status is 'faulty' or 'need repair', it should pop up the related error message and cursor stays on the same field.

I've not starting learning VBA yet, so I'm trying to make use of Macro's.

How to use data from another table as a validation criteria for a field in form?

Pops up a MessageBox and stays on the same field, on the form, unless error is resolved?

Validation Of Two Fields Against A Specific Range

Aug 16, 2015

I am using Access 2007. This is the problem; I have a warehouse divided into four departments North, East, South, and West. Each department is assigned its own storage location range North is N1-N1000, East is E1-E1000, South is S1-S1000, and West is W1-W1000. On the access input form of my database are two fields, one combo box field for Department and one combo box field for location stored.

When the user is updating the data base for parts received or shipped, the user must enter the department and location stored to correctly debit or credit that department. The location stored entered must be assigned to the department. (Example: dept. is north and storage location is N65, the user enters D65 instead, error message is displayed, "you have entered the wrong location").

What I need is instructions how to write the code to check the fields to verify location stored matches department, and display a warning message. How do I do this? I have a table with department names and storage location ranges.

Auto Rearrange Fields Or Hide Fields In DataSheet Based On Criteria

May 17, 2007

I have main form and that has one sub-form , this Main form governs/determines the data in the sub form.

This Sub form ( DataSheet Mode) has approximately 130 columns and based on the Main form criteria only ~ 20 columns has to be filled.

What I want to do is based on the main forms criteria I want to show only the columns that are applicable to main form criteria.

If I use Columnar or Tabular single form for the Sub Form I am able to hide the fields that are not required BUT IT LEAVES A SPACE/GAP on form ( for the hidden fields that are not required)

Private Sub Form_Load()
If Forms!frmShowPIforActiveAndCanAddNewPI!FrmSubFrmFi lterProductInformationPerFMT!CASETIF = True Then

Me.CASETIF.Visible = True
Else
Me.CASETIF.Visible = False
End If
End Sub

And If I use DataSheet and hide ( visible = no) a particular filed it still shows up in Sub Form

Is there a way to Auto-Re Arrange all the fields in the sub form so that the hidden ( visible = no) fields no not leave gap

Or is there a way by VBA program to select fields ( Columns) from a table to be displayed on a sub form based on a criteria

Thanks
Rahul

Format Vs Validation - Exactly How Records Of A Particular Fields Are Stored

Jul 24, 2015

Just curious how access stores records. Say, data type of Text, field name "FullName" when entering data via forms normally we use formatting or enforce data entry with validation rule to check say if user typed in propercase or cases that we desire to see. So far so good. When text format masks is applied for instance > or < , does the actual data or the formatted data is passed to the table layer. Alternatively, table layer format vs form layer format which one of the methods dictate what exactly is stored under the table.

Modules & VBA :: Pull Data From A Table That Meets Number Of Conditions?

I have a module that is in Excel that is connecting to a back end database. I am trying to pull data from a table that meets a number of conditions. In that condition I am trying to say that pull in records where it has been at least 14 days since the last review.

Forms :: Dynamic Data Validation For Fields On A Form?

Jun 7, 2013

I'm a BA so i'm converting my excel issues list into a database with a front end where i can create new issue records this uses a form that sits on top of the issues_table.

Howver, i have created a table called Projects and a table called Test_Plans

Each issue is logged against a project and a test plan. Lets say ProjectA has TestPlan1 and ProjectB has Testplan2.

On my issues form, i can select ProjectA in the project field.

In the Testplan field i can select EITHER TestPlan1 or Testplan2

Testplan1 is the only valid entry.

How do i

a) Once I have selected ProjectA in the Project field only display Testplan1 in the Testplan field?

or

b) If the user tries to enter testplan2 for it to error?

I've tried creating a query and linking the controlsource field to it but it doesn't like that!
