I am trying to create a report which is sorted by KeyID, CustID. I don't want to display every Customer record but in the KeyID Footer I would like to display all CustID's associated with the KeyID. I have attached a sample mdb.
Would anyone know if there is a way to manipulate the current user value through code. I have a database and have all users signing on via the Admin user (basically not activating the password on the Admin user). I have a form that does request a password and username, which I use to allow access to various forms, etc. I know I could have done this through access security, but I needed to add some specific rules on the sign in that cannot be done through the standard access security sign-in. I am then able to store the username given at sign in and use this to allow or disallow access to various forms. I can also track when people sign in and sign out using this method.
Anyway, what I would like to do know is be able to set the system currrent user cuser variable to the user name they signed in with , and my reason for this has more to do with possible record locking conflicts if everyone effectively signs in as admin.
Is there a way to change the cuser variable through code ??
I have a form I use to create photo captions. The form has a field where users can edit a pre-generated caption and a field that stores their updates as a final caption in the field "selected_caption".. On my form is a button that runs the code below to check and see if a field ("updated") has been marked true, then copies the content of caption field into the selected_caption field. It works fine 90 percent of the time but for some reason this caption:
LA 109535, LA109535 partial site overview showing blowout with PL's 01- 04. Crew person is excavating a shovel test probe. Photo direction facing southwest. (Roll 31066, Frame 4958)
Results in a missing operator error. I thought it was like a special character thing, so I removed the "'" and the "-". Same error.
Code: Dim db As Database Dim rst As Recordset Dim upcap As String Dim strSQL As String Set db = CurrentDb
I have some code that will allow a user to pass to it the name of a report. The code will do various things to that report before presenting it for Preview, opening in Word etc.
At one point in the code I would like to refer to some control or property of the report. If I was to include this directly for one report, I might type:
Reports!Annual_Budget_Report.Recordsource = xyz
But instead of a specifc report, it would be the report as a variable (srReport_Name). However, if I type:
Reports!stReport_Name.Recordsource
The code complains, rightly, that there isn't a report called stReport_Name. The stReport_Name variable is currently set as String. I *think* the answer might lie in the variable type, but I'm still struggling.
I have a matrix variable (ex: test(7,3)) define as private in a form's code vba. In this form, I open a report in which I would like to show the values of my matrix variable. How can I do this efficienly ... what i use now is a public buffer variable in a module(it eats memory for nothing)
I use a macro that attaches a document automatically to an e-mail address ready to send this report is governed by a query of which the criteria is " loss order number " this is in a pdf format of which I need if possible
The problem I have is the same pdf file keeps attaching itself to the e-mail no matter which loss order number I select. The reason I think is because the report is called NCR so it is not changing from the previous one. What I think can solve it but not sure and don't know how to do is get the " loss order number " within the report name.
If I just send the report to a file direct it does work as I am prompted for a file name
Can the loss order number get into the file name within a macro/vba
I have a report that looks at a query. The base data contains a field called 'functlocation'. Now this data can vary in length and looks something like the following
Now the first 6 digits represent a particular building no. There are actually 6 buildings. When I run the report I am trying to get the report only to show all tasks against 120819 but with a wildcard at the end. I created a mini table with the 6 building numbers in, but i can't work out how to incorporate the wildcard into a parameter query.
I am using vista and access 2010, what I want is to be able to email a report from access that was created by a form with DoCmd.OpenReport "ReportOrder", acViewReport. I have a button that when i click it it will send the report via email, but the email address has to be a variable so when the report is created i can use the email that is attached to the report data.
I have a form with 5 buttons on it. Each button is meant to select a warehouse location, so a query can be run to give an inventory report for that location. There is a separate query for each button and the OnClick event does properly modify the recordsource to give the appropriate data to the report for the location selected.
To this functionality I want the OnClick event VBA to pass the warehouse location to a textbox on the report, so the title of the report reflects that inventory location.
My code thus far is:
Private Sub Command5_Click() Dim mySQL As String Dim WHSE As String mySQL = "SELECT [Master Part List].[Part Number], [Master Part List].Category, [Master Part List].Description, [Master Part List].MaterialCost, [Master Part List].Inventory, [Master Part List].Update, [MaterialCost]*[Inventory] AS [Total Cost], [Master Part List].Warehouse"
[Code] ....
When I get the report, the textbox is empty, instead of containing the text value for the warehouse location.
I have now a report that span around 2 pages. It has subreports in the report that depening how many rows there are they can grow or shrink.I have the problem that the second page the top margin is to close to the top of the pager. The paper has a logo on the right top side. I can make the first page look nice under the logo, but the second page prints to close to the edge that prints over the logo. I did add a page break, but when the page 1 has more data, it flushes this to the next page. The page 2 is now page 3. How can I avoid that, or make it so that the margin of the second page/next page is on the correct lenght of the top. I tried it with the page setup, but it does not work.
In the detail section of my report, I recently added a second row which has only 1 text field. When the value of the textbox in the 2nd row is null, I want the total row height equal to just the first row. When the value in the textbox in the 2nd row is not null, then the total row height is equal to row 1 and 2. I tried to make the textbox in the second row invisible when it had a null value thinking that when it was null, the report would shrink to the first row height, but that didn't seem to work.
I have a subroutine that successfully builds a SQL statement "strSQL", which is a public variable.
Using msgbox, I can read that the value is correct - SELECT * from tblIncidents WHERE [Nature] = 'Hover';
(The select statement may be complex, e.g. [Nature] = 'hover' AND [COLOUR]= 'Blue' AND [GRADE] = 'High')
I want to pass the variable strSql to my report rptIncident in the following command:
Private Sub CmdPrintReport_Click() If Right(strsql, 1) <> "'" Then 'check if statement was built Else strsql = strsql & ";" 'add trailing ; to statement MsgBox strsql DoCmd.OpenReport "tblincidents", acViewNormal, , strsql End If End Sub
I get a flashing error, then runtime error 3075 - |1 in query expression '|2'.
I have this code in the Record Source of a report. This reports used to run fine without issue and it still does work however, it is running very very slow. I assume that this is because I used to have less records in the table so the build was faster with more and more records it get slower. Is there anyway I can change this to speed things up? thank you jim

I am creating a 2 level report to confirm an order. Main report already created, runs successfully called as subform/subreport under "OrderDetails" form. Linked to master using Order.ID. There are two versions of the confirmation report that have different layouts for different program types.
The hangup comes when I try to add a "Class Dates" subreport. It lists dates of individual classes and Skip dates. I have created the subreport as "srClassDates". When I add it to the main report, it lists the records. However, when I try to link it to the Main report, an error message box appears with the "object variable or With block variable not set".
I have tried rebuilding both the main and subreports, rebuilt the query, have not found anything that changes the result.
Linker has been working successfully on other subforms. Report with groupings works fine, but I need data from 2 tables both linked to order.id.
Hey there, if anyone could help me with the code for opening a report please. I have a main page with buttons, and need a button for opening reports.. thx
I have a report rptEnvelopes to print envelopes. In the report I have text box called txtRecipientName . I have a qryAddress with fields notNo, IDCard, Fname, Lname where notNo is a field that takes its value from a combo box called cboSelectEnvelope from a form frmPrinting. I then wrote the following code:
Private Sub Report_Open(Cancel As Integer)
Dim dbLet As Database Dim rsLet As Recordset Dim sqlLet, criteriaLet, txtRecipientName As String Dim stLet as String
Set dbLet = CurrentDb sqlLet = " Select DISTINCT IDCard FROM qryAddress " & _ "WHERE notNo = " & Forms!frmPrinting!cboSelectEnvelope Set rsLet = dbLet.OpenRecordset(sqlLet, dbOpenSnapshot) If Not rsLet.EOF Then rsLet.MoveLast stLet = "rptEnvelope" criteriaLet = "notNo=" & Forms!frmPrinting!cboSelectEnvelopeReports 'This is where I go wrong: 'How to I declare txtRecipientName, on rptEnvelope, to get the value rsLet!Fname&" "& rsLet!Lname DoCmd.OpenReport stLet, acViewPreview, , criteriaLet End If rsLet.CLOSE
NOTE: Private Sub Report_Open is called from the On Open Event of rptEnvelope
If P1 = vbYes Then DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acNormal End If Exit Sub
Here is the difficulty I need help to overcome: In report "FIRST REPORT" there is one field called txtSet1, Boolean. Can I set the value of this field to either True or False from this point in my code ?
If P1 = vbYes Then set Reports![FIRST REPORT]!txtSet1.value = True DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acNormal End If Exit Sub I know that the answer is NO because the above does not work. I think the problem is that because the "FIRST REPORT" is not opened until line DoCmd.OpenReport stDocName, acNormal is executed, the line set Reports![FIRST REPORT]!txtSet1.value = True can not find "FIRST REPORT". Can I have some guidance please ? Rgds
Hy,i have some ADO recordset and i want to bind it to blank report that I made in reports. How to do this. If i create report in reports section and after that i want to see it in my code as that same object and set his record or data source property how to do this?? I know that you can set the recordsource property directly in report but it includes some values from textbox in my form that doesn't show corectly(it's an array of numbers, and i don't know why it doesn't accept it). Thanks
I have a report that I use with a couple different parameters. I want to be able to change the title of the report depending on the parameter that is chosen.
I have different OpenArgs set for each parameter and in the report I want to be able to change the Caption on a label depending on the OpenArgs.
The Normal Me.lblHeader.Caption does show as an option like on a form.
The options Me.lblHeader.Form.Caption and Me.lblHeader.Report.Caption show but say Invalid Reference when used.
Error 91 - Object variable or With block variable not set
I am getting this error telling me that an object variable is not set.
I know which variable it is but when I step through the debugger it sets the variable and all is fine? Issue is that public variable of a class is not getting set when the VBA Editor is not open?
This code runs fine the FIRST time, however trows up a message the SECOND time it is run.
The error is on the line ".Range"
I am trying to sort records which have been exported to Excel.
Dim LR As Integer LR = 5 Set xlApp = CreateObject("Excel.Application") xlApp.Visible = True Set wbRef = xlApp.Workbooks.Add With wbRef
wbRef.Activate .Worksheets("Sheet1").Activate With ActiveSheet .Range("A2", .Cells(LR, "O").End(xlUp)).Sort Key1:=.Range("C2"), Order1:=xlAscending, Header:=xlYes End With end With
I am creating a report that has the variable address as usual. Name Address1 Address2 City, State zipcode
If there is no value for address2, is it possible to shift the locatoin of city state zip up into the Address 2 location? I would like to shift the lable up with code, but can't find a way to do it.
I am using an unbound data source so i have full control over the variable data.
I am trying to add another parameter to a report to only get those specific records. I did not write the code and am very confused on how it works. Right now it is getting records in the Access database between the 2 dates entered. But NOW I need to add a parameter to select only records between those dates AND with the AccountNumber LIKE acctltr (this is the field from the form). They can either put in an "X" or an "P X". The AccountNumber needs to end in which ever one they enter.
Here is the code that is currently existing and supposedly works. At least it gets all the records between the dates even tho it still prints records with a ZERO balance.
Code: Private Sub cmdprint_Click() On Error GoTo exit_cmdprint 'mysql = "SELECT * from InvoiceTable " & _ ' " WHERE ((not InvoiceTable.InvoicePrintDate1 Is Null) AND (not InvoiceTable.InvoicePrintDate2 Is Null) AND (InvoiceTable.InvoicePrintDate3 Is Null) AND (InvoiceTable.InvoiceDate Between #" & dtefrom & "# And #" & dteto & "#))" 'Me.RecordSource = mysql
