View Text Box Calculated In An Other Form.

Jun 27, 2005

Hello,
I have been struggling to see on a new form data calculated on a different form.
What I mean is that I have calculated a stock balance using a subform where the balance=[QuantityReceived]-NZ([Stock record table Subform].[Form]![SumQtyIssued])

Now, I woud need to see the balance value on an another form with the same Data source query.
I have been trying to assign the control source of the balance as follow but doesn't work: balance=Forms![Stock record sheet]!Balance where [stock record sheet] is the form where the balance is originallly created.

I guess that you can't reuse data calculated in form and should probably store these data in a table or a query. Is there any other sensible way to do this?

Forms :: Text Boxes Showing In Design View But Not Display In Form View

Apr 19, 2014

I have a Form which I have linked correctly to a subform. The Text boxes are showing in the Design view but are not when one switches to the Form View. Labels for Fields are visible in the Form View. Have even created a new subform and that will also not display the Text Boxes.

Blank Form In Form View But Fields Present In Design View

Oct 19, 2005

After reading many of the posts here, I decided that one of the problems with the tables in the db I was working on was in the primary keys. I had used the same field name as the primary key in all of my tables. This was RecipID, which was a user entered textbox with an example in a label beside it showing the format to use.

After reading stuff here, I decided this wasn't a good idea. So I changed RecipId to be an autonumber in the parent table (Household_Info) and a long integer foreign key in the children. Also, I added some fields to the parent table to identify the head of household (lastname, firstname)

I already had a continuous form made with a subform and a pop-up form associated with it based on my previous tables. Reran the query underlying the form, and the new fields showed up in the field list box for the form. The fields are all still present in design view, but I get a totally blank form in form view. I checked the forms recordsource and made sure that it was set to the new query.

Can anyone give me an idea about what I'm overlooking? Do I have to recreate the form?

(Sorry if this is a repeat of a question someone has already addressed, but I couldn't turn up any relevant threads after several hours of searching.)

Thanks, Charlotte

Forms :: Unable To View Object Properties In Form Design View (Access 2010)

May 16, 2014

Why the ability to view the properties of an object within a form is not available when you double click on it in design view?

I was happily working away double clicking on a command button to edit some code when for some reason the next time I tried to edit it did not open up for me.

I was unable to access it even by right clicking on the object & selecting properties as that also appears to be disabled, not greyed out or anything but just does nothing when selected.

Have I inadvertently changed a setting somewhere that prevents the properties from being displayed?

How Do I Show The Subform As Form View Instead Of Datasheet View

Jul 19, 2007

See title :)

I have seen that in some sample db's rightclicking the mouse showed the menu with an option to check or uncheck the dataview option, unchecked the formview was applied, but when i 'just' import the subform, i cannot find somewhere the possibility to change from dataview to formview.

Maybe someone can help me with this, probably very simple(?), question?

Forms :: No Filters - Cannot View All Records In Form View

Aug 27, 2013

I have 4 tables and around 440 records but can only view up to 417 in the form I have designed. I have been adding new records via form and it has been added to my main table, but when i try to view it in form view - the record is not available to view. What do I need to do to correct this problem?

I have checked that there are no filters, data entry is set to No, Auto deletions, additions and edits are set to yes.

Also to mention it seems that the problem has arisen since I set up some new queries, there is a one to one relationship between the tables!

Calculated Text Boxes

Jul 29, 2005

Lets say I have a form called form1 with 2 subforms named subform1 & subform2.

Can I place a text box on form1 that totals fields located on subform1 & subform2?

This is what I currently have as an expression in the text box. It is in the before update event, which may be the problem. Any ideas or solutions are much appreciated. :)

=[subform1].Form!field1+[subform2].Form!field1

How Can I Set A Calculated Text Box So It Won't Show 0?

Aug 23, 2005

Ok, so I'm pretty new at this stuff, and while I'm sort of familiar with VB, I feel like there should be a fairly simple expression that could solve my problem. I have a calculated text box that is based on what is entered in another text box, like so:

the source number is in a field called Word Count.
my calculated box's Control Source is =([Word Count]/250).

My goal is to automatically calculate the number of pages based on the number of words per page (250). I used Format so the bank rounding problem doesn't effect the outcome, but if the Word Count field is less than 125 the number of pages is 0. which is obviously not the case.
I've tried fiddling around with the rounding, but then it starts rounding higher word counts up too soon.

thoughts, please?

Calculated Field Based On SQL In Text Box

Feb 13, 2005

Hello, Bit of a newby to all this. Am trying to use a text box as a calculted field. I am doing so using an sql statment in control source The sql stat is built and tested using build query and then copied and pasted from sql view)

I keep getting #name? as an error.

I have managed using dlookup of the same saved sql to return the required value (which works) but find it to be a bit slow and clunky so wanted to give this a go instead. If somebody can have a look at the query below I would much apreciate.

=(SELECT Sum(QryInout!CostExVATGBP) AS TTlCostExVATGBP
FROM QryInout &_
WHERE (((QryInout.StockImportNoJoinToAll)=[Forms]![FrmSPurch]![ImportNoNew])) &_
GROUP BY QryInout.ProdType &_
HAVING (((QryInout.ProdType)="Freight"));)

Note that I have tried with and without the &_ and also with or with out the brackets..

Thanks

So I tried =DCount("*","Data Input") just to see if I could get something back and still nothing.

I double check the names are correct, dropping the quotation marks different combination of brackets and nothing every time.

View Records In Form View

Apr 6, 2006

Hi, I am in the process of creating a new database - I am a bit new to this. I have a main form, which also contains two subforms. The record source of the main part of the form is 11 tables, and then each of the subforms is based on one table each (so there are 13 tables altogether).

Everything seems to be linked up ok, and when I add new information to the form (and the subforms), the information gets saved to the tables as it should be. However, I want to be able to view past records in the form view, so that users can regularly update past records using form view. I can't do this. Each time I open the form view, the thing at the botton left says 'record one of one.' THen if I put the curser in (for eg) the box called 'client name' and click on the search button, I get a message saying:

"you can't find or replace now, the fields are not searchable due to:
- the fields are controls;
- the fields have no data;
- there are no fields to search."

well I don't really know what that means. There is definately data in there somewhere, because I can view it in the table view, but I'd like to be able to view and update old records, and search, in the form view.

any tips?

thanks for helping

Calculated Data In Text Box Update To Table?

Mar 29, 2006

I have a textbox on a form that displays a calculated number with regards to input from other text boxes.

I need this calculated number to update to a corresponding field within a table.

I have a button that updates the information, but the calculated field will not update.

I have an "=" expression written that does all of the calculating. When I put this in the 'control source' it calculates and displays on the form perfectly, but will not update the table. If I change the control source to the field within the table and then move the "=" statement/expression someplace else....the field is blank on the form, but I can manually input a number and it will update to the table.

How To Use A Calculated Field To Get Average Of 4 Text Fields

I have 4 texts fields [DEVICE INSTALL] , [INSTRUMENT STAND], [BRACKETS RACEWAY SUPPORTS], [TUBING CAPILLARY] all can be either a percentage from 1-100 or "N/A" except [DEVICE INSTALL].I would like to calculate the [percentage complete]

my calculation in the field is as follows:
([DEVICE INSTALL]+
IIf([INSTRUMENT STAND]="N/A",100,[INSTRUMENT STAND])+
IIf([TUBING CAPILLARY]="N/A",100,[TUBING CAPILLARY])+
IIf([BRACKETS RACEWAY SUPPORTS]="N/A",100,[BRACKETS RACEWAY SUPPORTS]))
/4

this seems to work to a degree. but for some reason when the [INSTRUMENT STAND] value is not "N/A" the percentage calculated is a wacky value much higher than 100. how could I possibly change my division #?

Reports :: Report Thinks Calculated Field Is Text

Oct 21, 2014

I'm creating a report to check for over- or under-stocked items. The report is working fine, gets all the records etc. except that it thinks that the OnHand field from my inventory query is text or something, at any rate not a number. I have successfully set the format of the field in the query to General Number, but that doesn't seem to have worked. Here's the SQL for the report:

Code:
SELECT DISTINCT Signs.SignCode, Signs.SignDescr, Size2.XYdim, qryOnHand.OnHand, Bins.Rack, Bins.Level, Bins.BinNum
FROM (Size2 INNER JOIN (Signs INNER JOIN (Items INNER JOIN qryOnHand ON Items.[ItemsID] = qryOnHand.[ItemsID]) ON Signs.[SignID] = Items.[SignID]) ON Size2.[SizeID] = Items.[SizeID]) INNER JOIN (Bins INNER JOIN InventoryDetail ON Bins.[BinID] = InventoryDetail.[BinID]) ON Items.[ItemsID] = InventoryDetail.[ItemsID]
WHERE (((qryOnHand.OnHand)<=[Check for signs with fewer than:]));

Reports :: Variable Used In Calculated Text Box Gets Treated As Parameter Query

Apr 8, 2013

(a) The On Open event of my report contains a VBA Sub that assigns a value to a variable named vShow. (Tracking the sub in VBA shows that vShow is correctly being assigned the desired value.)

(b) I then use vShow to try to control a calculation that occurs in one of the text boxes of the detail section in the report

(c) Basically, the control source of the textbox contains (in part) the statement (vShow>[fieldA]), which is embedded in a longer function.

(d) However, when I type this in at Control Source box of the Data tab of the the Property Sheet, Access always substitutes "[vShow]" for "vShow".

(e) So what I get is ([vShow]>[fieldA]), which treats vShow as the parameter of a parameter query.

ANY WAY TO OVERCOME THIS AND HAVE vShow recognized as the variable I defined at On Open? Perhaps there needs to be a variable declaration there, that I don't understand.

The basic form (vShow>[fieldA]) does not seem to be the problem, because I can enter, e.g. (500>[fieldA]) and everything works OK.

Reports :: Sort Records By A Calculated Percentage Using Text Box Values

=Sum([Quarter1_T]) - Named "Quarter_Target"
=Val([Quarter_Total])/Val([Quarter_Target]) - Named "%Target" (Percent Format)

The report is grouped by the expression '[Surname] & ", " & [Firstname]'.I am trying to sort the records by the %Target text box. I tried entering the expression into the sort function but it still sorts by the grouped expression. I also tried sorting by the name of the text box but got the same results. How can I sort by the desired control?

Modules & VBA :: Open Form To Record / Where Text Box Matches Value Of Text Box On Another Form

Aug 16, 2014

I am trying to make use of the OpenForm command to open a form to a record where a textbox matches the value of a text box on another form.

On Form1, I have a textbox called txtRtnRef, and it contains a reference number in a similar format to SWR-9

On Form2, I have a textbox called txtReOrderRef (control source ReOrderRef) which also contains a reference number in the same format (SWR-9)

I am trying to have a button next to the text box on Form1 that has an OnClick Event that opens Form2 to the record containing the same text reference number.I have tried, to no avail, a number of variations of the OpenForm command, the most recent being

Code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "Form2", , , "ReOrderRef = '" & Me.txtRtnRef & "'"

The form opens, but to a blank record?

Forms :: Main Form Which Contains A Sub Form In Data Sheet View

Nov 28, 2013

I have a main form (tsTimeSheetMain) which contains a sub form (tsTimeSheetDataNewSub) in data sheet view. When I click off one row onto another row in the sub form, it triggers this code:

Forms!tsTimeSheetMain!ProjectMonSum.Requery

i.e. it tries to requery the ProjectMonSum field (on the main form) which is a dsum calculated field. This works fine and updates the ProjectMonSum field (which dsums values from the same datasource as the subform.

However, this seems to put the cursor back to the top left field in the subform (datasheet view), rather than leave it in the field I click on (in the subform).

Why is this happening and what is a decent workaround this issue? I just want to update the calculated dsum field each time you update values in the subform.
