Want Value Of Combo Box On A Form To Appear In Table

I am very new to Microsoft Access and I needed some help. I added a combo box to a form and I want the value in that combo box to appear in a table. I was wondering if anyone knew the correct code to do this. I would really appreciate some help. Thank You.

Built Form On Top Of Table - Use Combo Box To Update Value On Form

I have a table called input and a "form" input made on top of that same table. When I input the data on the form it updates properly no issues.

I have another table main. i update the vendor name using combo box from main.

It works like that.

SELECT main.[Vendor Number], main.[Vendor Name]
FROM main;

And I update the vendor name using control source =vendorname.column(1)

I have even achieved the same thing using DlookUp .

The problem is that it saves on the Form but the data from Dlookup or from comboBox updates for "Vendoe Nmae" is not saved in input table.

Table Select In A Form Combo Box

I have a databse which uses a query and a form to filter records from 1 table into a report. It works well, however the way in which it works currently means i would need around 15 forms as there are (going to be) around 15 tables.

What I would like to do is add a combo box at the very top of the form to select the source table for the other combo boxes on the form (hope this makes sense!!).

Combo Boxes On Form Not Populating Table

I'm building my first Access DB for a while, so am a little rusty, but I can't seem to work out this problem.

I've bound my form, and all of the other fields are saving and populating the correct table, but I have two combo boxes, both of which populate a series of other text boxes based on the selection (eg. I select Joe Bloggs in one box, and it automatically puts Joe Bloggs' phone number and email address in two following boxes).

This all works, however when I save the record, or move to the next one, the data entered in the combo boxes and the related populated fields doesn't save - they just show up as blank in the record created in my table.

As an aside, how do I get the combo boxes & related text fields to show a default blank value until a value is selected.

Updating Relational Table From Form Using Combo-boxes

Hi,

I have two tables, tblCountry and tblLocation. With the following structure

tblCountry
ID
Name
Text

tblLocation
ID
Country_fk
Name
Text

As you can guess tblCountry lists all of the countries, tblLocation lists all of the locations in each country, the tblLocation.Country_fk field is linked to tblCountry.ID.

I want the user to be able to edit [tblLocation].[Text] using a form. They simply select the country and then the location using combo-boxes and then add or edit the content using a textbox.

In my form I have a combo-box that displays the country names, the RowSource is set to
SELECT [tblCountry].[ID], [tblCountry].[Name], FROM tblCountry ORDER BY [Name];

I then have a second combo-box that lists the locations for the selected country. This uses an AfterUpdate() procedure to select [tblLocation].[ID] using an SQL query based on the value of the country combo-box. I.e:

SELECT [tblLocation].[ID],[tblLocation].[Name],[tblLocation].[Text] FROM tblLocation WHERE [Country_fk] = " & Me.country_box.Value & " Order By [Name]"


I want to be able to have a textbox that then displays [tblLocation].[Text] for the selected location. Thats where the problem arises. I can't find a way that will let me display any content thats available for the selected location AND let me edit it. I've tried using UpdateAfter procedures, different bindings (tables, queries based on the value of location combo-box).

Can anyone suggest how I can display [tblLocation].[Text] based on the value of the selected country/location and be able to update the information via a textbox?

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Queries :: Filter Data From A Table Using Combo Box In A Form

I would like to filter a data from a table using a combo box in a form.

The field I would like to filter is called ManufacturersID in MainTable and consist of text and wildcard characters [e.g., Teledyne O&G (ODI), TE Connectivity (Deutsch), etc...], so are the combo strings which are extracted from the table ManufacturersTable. It is not filtering anything. I suspect that the wildcards and spaces are the problem. I also tried to get the combo string to a text box in the form and use it in the query with no success. Additionally, I also tried Like [Forms]![FormName]![textbox] in query criteria but still not filtering...

How can I overcome this?

Form Combo Box Not Populating Related Field In Table

I have a combobox on my form with fields related to it (ie. when an option is chosen in the drop-down, the next two fields are also populated with data based on the selection made - I know this is duplication of data, it's just the way the 'powers that be' wanted it. I'm changing it in my next version of the database!)

The two fields that are populated as a result of the selection in the combobox are migrating into the related table fine, but the actual selection in the combobox isn't - it's showing up as blank in each new record in the table.

Combo Box Based On Linked Table Needs To Pull Info For Sub-Form From Non Linked Table

I am trying to build a Form that will show an estimate (then eventually will be moved to a project if customer and employee aggree to price and project) in a Form F_Estimates is a M_Customers(Customer_ID) (Based on a Table) and thier info in a Subform. Also is the "projected costs" from parts out of the Parts(Part_ID) (Based on another Table) in a second Subform as a list that I need to calculate $$$ in
(Dang that still sounds evil and definately NOT understandable even after edit... so)

Here's some basic info

PartNumber : Text (not a number due to some part#s have letters in them)

Row Source - SELECT Parts.Part_ID, Parts.PartNumber, Parts.PartName, Parts.UnitPrice, Parts.Description FROM Parts ORDER BY Parts.Description;

(Pulls info from the table Parts for input into a list of parts to be used on that project)

PartName : Text Box
UnitPrice : Text Box

(here's where I run into problems due to the fact that the form is not based on the parts table but rather the link table EstimatesandParts so I can't propogate the info to the 2 other text boxes, ps I dont care if they cant be text boxes and have to be linked or some other type I'm not "set" just need to find out how to make it work )

(have tried a couple things to complete this task)

(works AWSOME ... for ONE ROW then propogates the second selection to the first and second and third selection to first second and third and so on ...)

(Doesnt exist .. akkk, cant use ActiveForm either as it doesn't focus on the SubForm but the MainForm ... cry)

Hope you can help I have a feeling I will need to make a recordset and go from there but I'm just not able to wrap my head around that for some reason

Populating An Underlying Table When Using Cascading Combo Boxes In A Form

Hello everyone

I have read the FAQ on cascading combo boxes and have managed to apply the theory to my DB's data input form (frmDataEntry) which is very cool and prevents a lot of errors however in doing so it no longer populates the underlying table (tblProductionDetails).

I am at a loss as to how to correct this as you can see from the example I need the customer and description field to be populated with the correct data rather than the fields I am using to make the cascading combo boxes work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am using Access 2007 and have reviewed many blogs and looked at the Northwind db to try to solve this problem. I would like to create a form that functions in the same manner as the "Order Details" form in the Northwind db. Specifically, I want to create a form that will allow me to input a value and have the form get data from another table and populate the table I need populated.

I would like to populate a table "Outside", field names are Key, Name, term, Value, Date.

The table that contains the data is named "CV" and the filed names are Key, Name.

In the form, I would like to enter a value for Key into a combo box, and have it put the value for Key and for Name into the form, and allow me to enter whatever I want to in the Term, Value and Date field. When I tab out, I would like all this data to be in the table "Outside.

I have created a form that searches a table to show certain criteria. I am having trouble with a part where the table uses a checkbox and I am trying to use a combo box on the search form to return the results based on is it checked? Yes/No or both. When I test it I keep getting Runtime error 3075 missing operator.

The sql I am using is below and when I try and see where it is going wrong it highlights the line.

I have been trying to modify a sample database to suit what I want to do but I am getting stuck on the very first part cascading combo boxes i want to open a form and add multiple items to a table - first i want to select, from a combo box a department - then select a supplier from all the suppliers/manufacturers related to that department then select a stock item based on the description from all the items available from that supplier

i have a standard database with tblProducts, order, employees, customers, suppliers etc. i also have a table called tblperson with personID which acts as a one, with the many in three different tables (customers, suppliers and employee) the person table holds data such as first name last name address city postcode and phone. now, ive created a form called frmPerson that acts as a adding data to my database. ive got a load of buttons a working add, delete and a save button, i also have the option to switch through records next, last, end and first. now basically in this form i want to be able to add data i.e. fill out the text boxes and then have a combo box or something similiar that when i add the data i can basically click an option the says 'employee' 'supplier' or 'customer' and then the data gets added to my person table however the difference is that it will also be associated to the record in the wanted table.

I have a form that currently uses a "catch all" table for listing available equipment to choose from for an equipment field. I call it tblEquipment. What I want to do is to make it so when I type a name in (1 of 35) in one field of the current record, the record source for the equipment field immediately looks at a different table that has equipment available only for that name. To do this I plan on making 35 different tables with limited data originally found in tblEquipment. I would call these tblEquipment1, tblEquipment2, etc. I do not use a sub form, nor do I want to.

So my questions are:

1) can this be done
2)If it can be done, how can I do it?

Let's assume we have 3 tables:

Order_Category (Order_Category_ID, Order_Type_Name) with 2 records:
1, Minor
2, Major

Order_Type (Order_Category_ID, Order_Type) with 4 records:
1, Book
1, Pencil
2, Car
2, House

Orders (Order_Category_ID, Order_Type, value) with 2 records:
1, NULL, NULL
1, NULL, NULL
2, NULL, NULL

I want to create a Multiple Items form presenting Orders table with two Combo Boxes:

1. A combo box to select Order_Category_ID.
2. A combo box to select Order_Type. When 1 (Minor) is chosen in the first combo box it should show Book and Pencil, when 2 (Major) is chosen it should show Car and House.

Examples in the Internet show how to do it on a 'single row' forms using the RowSource property. I tried to use a query like:

SELECT Order_Type
FROM Order_Type
INNER JOIN Orders ON Order_Type.Order_Category_ID = Orders.Order_Category_ID
WHERE Order_Category_ID = [comboBoxOrderCategoryID]

But it sets same values for all records in the Multiple Items form and it should return different values in each rows based on value in the first combo box (Order_Category_ID).

I have seen a few articles here and there on using a combo box to filter records in a sub-form and to filter records in another combo box, but I am not getting anywhere. I hope someone can belp

Exercise 1

For this exercise, I have the following tables:

tblClients containing client names
tblProjects containing some project details

I want to set up a simple form, so that the user can select a client name from a combo box on the main form which filters the project detail records in the Projects sub-form.
Once the user enters project details, I want this info as well as the selected ClientID to be fed back to tblProjects.


Exercise 2

I have the following tables:

tblProjects as above
tblWorkstream containiig names of workstreams and some other details.

Every project has one or more workstreams

I have a form where users will enter hours worked on each workstream. They will first select Project from a combo box on the main form. This should then filter records to be displayed in the Workstream Combo box, before they can then enter hours.



Please let me know if you need me to explain any part of this better.

ps. I am a novice, so I'm hoping to do the above using default MS stuff, not with complex programming!!!

I'm an Access newbie and I'm having trouble restricting a combo box on a subform based on the selection of the combo box on the form.The combo box (Combo1) on the main form (FrmOrganisation) gives a list of companies, I want the combo box (Combo2) in the subform (SbFrmEmployees) to list people only from that company. I then have a subform within that subform that displays information about the employee.

Ok my problem is this......

I have a form with a field "Property Status" on it. It has 4 possible values -

"C - SHELTERED (with warden charge)";"H - SHELTERED (No warden charge)";"J - WHEELCHAIR SHELTERED (With warden charge)";"M - WHEELCHAIR SHELTERED (No warden charge)";"X - DISCONNECTED"

When the value "X - DISCONNECTED" is selected in the form I want the record to be removed from its existing table and sent to a new table which keeps all the "X - DISCONNECTED" records together.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. How would this be coded?

I have a combo box (cboManifestNumber) that is based on the following table:

This table is related to:

tblTSDF
TsdfIDPK (autonumber PK)

I need to be able to update tblManifestData with a new manifest number and manifest comments, along with assigning it a TSDF. how to be able to enter a new manifest number and the associated data without having it create two lines in tblManifestData. I thought that I could enter a new manifest number, then requery the table and form so it shows the complete list of manifest numbers (including the recently entered one) while staying on the newest entry.

I am trying to use a combo box to select the Company in an input record form for my Transactions. In the Transaction table, each record contains the Company ID, but not the company name (I have a relationship with a Company ID primary key in a separate table that has all the companies information).

I would like to be able to select the proper company in the combo box and have the form save the value as the Company ID number with the rest of the input data in a record (it will then refer to the correct company name in the other table if I query it because of the ID key).

I am trying to update a table with the value of a text box on the form where the table to update is as selected from a combo box on the form.I keep getting the following

Error message:
Run-time error 2465
Microsoft Access cant find the field & table_to_update & referred to in your expression..

But really can't see what I've done wrong. Have checked that the table_to_update string does contain the name of the table so guess it must be sql..
