Why Wouldn't Switchboard Buttons Work?

I suppose I am hoping for a simple answer here when it could be a myriad of things but fingers crossed.
I have a database - split back end, front end both files under 4000kb. It is sitting on a server.
On some computers it will open up to the Switchboard (so I have ruled out access (as in security access) problems) but the command buttons on the switchboard are all inactive. This only happens on some computers (so a person can sign on to one workstation and all is OK and then move to the next and the above happens). There are not multiple sessions open all at once - maximum probably 3.
Any ideas???????

When I made this database years ago, I had little to no idea of what I was doing. My switchboard works by mouse clicking on each number button, but is there a way to go back in and add to the on click if I wanted to hit the actual number of that button? IE: if I wanted number 6 instead of clicking on the button just hitting the number 6 on the keyboard. Thanks

I'm trying to create a switchboard through which one can access data entry forms. Now there are about 13 of such forms but I've put only 3 here for simplicity. The idea is to have a button (on the main switchboard) represent each category but I understand the switchboard will not allow more than 8 buttons on it? I guess that by the end of the day, I will probably have two secondary switchboards for these 13 buttons. I created the main & secondary switchboards (the second is called "This is the Look I want"). A button called "TheOtherBoard", on the main switchboard, should take me to "This is the Look I want".
1) I don't like the way the Main switchboard looks and decided to create the secondary switchboard with the look I prefer but it duplicates anything I do. How can I fix this?
2) when I double click on the main switchboard, the secondary board (with colourful buttons) opens. Should be the ugly one first!
3) Also, since I manually added the buttons & stuff, I think I'll need to link them with the forms.

I have developed a project in Access 2003 and it works absolutely fine. There is a switchboard form too and that works fine as well. But now in our company we are moving all the projects developed in 2003 to 2010. And so I have noticed the switchboard form doesn't work in Access 2010 the way it works in 2003. The Switchboard form doesn't display all the options in 2010.

Ok, I'm absolutely positive I'm missing something totally simple here... Someone give me a clue...
I have a database whereby I track academic performance of students in our program. I am trying to use last year's table to calculate how many hours each student earned during all three semesters.
In many cases, students did not enroll in all three semesters, so I am dealing with Null values in many of the fields. The easiest way would be to do something with the Nz function such as follows:
HrsEarnedLastAY: Sum(Nz([HrsEarnedFall],0)+Nz([HrsEarnedSpring],0)+Nz([HrsEarnedSummer],0))
But what I am getting is the numbers in a string! Say, a student earned 12 hours in the fall, and 10 hours in the spring, and didn't attend at all in the summer. The answer I'm getting in the calculated field is 1210, rather than 22. I've tried about 50 permutations of the above expression and I truly can't see why it isn't adding the fields together... I have also tried this with parenthesis around each Nz: (Nz([HrsEarnedFall],0)) , same result.
The Sum function does not recognize Null fields, but I thought I could use the Nz function to account for that. If I can't use Nz with Sum, how the heck do I add these numbers?
What I need to do is create a table with these hours totaled, and then update my main table from it. I could conceivably add the fields together in a report, but then I don't have any way to update my main table other than simple data entry.
I really do not want to have to go back into almost 700 records and add in zeros in multiple fields just because I'm missing something stupid.
You'd think an application as powerful as Access would be able to add 2+2 and get 4...
Any help would be most appreciated...

I changed the colour of my form to white, but the Navigation Buttons at the bottom and the command buttons that I 've added stay at the default grey.
Is there anyway to change this? I right-clicked and tried changing it to white through the properties but there's nothing there that does this.

I am working on a database that will be an addition to an existing one on the company server. However, to make the overall layout not so complex and allow room for other additions in the future, I'd like to keep the databases separate. This will also ensure more efficiency, integrity and troubleshooting overall.
I have the original database with the name of "Cell MFG Screen" that contains a switchboard. I am now creating a db to keep track of manufacturing waste (which will also be on the same server when completed). That switchboard is called "Cell Waste Weight". Again, I want to keep these db's separated from one another as well being able to add future dbs. Now, what my plan is to make up a one db that consists of only a switchboard that will be used as the main switchboard to be able to navigate to other dbs that are located on the server.
Does anyone know how this is done?

We are creating a simple database to maintain driver license information for faculty, staff, and students who use cars from the university’s motor pool.
To do this, I have created two tables: tblDRIVER and tblLICENSE.
The fields in tblDRIVER are:

Information about the driver is stored in tblDRIVER and the driver’s license information is stored in tblLICENSE. Periodically, we run a report that identifies drivers whose licenses are due to expire within a certain number of days. All this works fine.
My problem is that I am trying to create a lookup form that will load from a data entry form that will permit the Motor Pool Clerk to look up a driver by name and review the licensing information (which appears as a subform).
All this sort of works- I am using a combo box (based on a query) to look up a driver’s last name (which it does) and to populate all the driver’s information on the look-up form (including license information in a subform). Currently, the combo box locates the driver (including the unique index, last, and first names), and populates the form with first and last name but the rest of the information is not displayed on the look up form. Worse still, sometimes one driver’s last name matches up with the first name of the next driver listed in the table! This seems to happen only if a look up is attempted more than once. What gives.

I have a main switchboard, with a few Open Form command buttons on it, but what i would like to have is another button to bring the user to another switchboard screen giving the option to open a few Reports (obviosly the button on teh main switch board would read "Report Section), can this done, and also how would i go about putting Back or forward buttons withing the second (report Section) screen so the user can nav. to back to the main screen?

I have created a new switchboard but don't know where it is. When I create it using the Switchboard Manager and then click close, it doesn't appear under any of the options. I have also set is as default but it fails to appear on startup.
Silly question I know. Any ideas?

Brief Summary,
I have limited experience in Access but have a bit more understanding of databases and tables. I am helping a friend create and access database to track the time his employees spend on different job sites. i am using a template from Microsoft called "Time and Billing" I am going to be manipulating the structure a bit but other than that the template should work fine.
My main struggle is I need to have a screen that the employees access that takes them straight to add / edit a time sheet. i want the rest of the data, reports, views to be password protected. Ideally the switchboard would load up to a page that had a button from employees to click on where they would be taken to the form and a button the owner could click on, enter a password, and be taken into the back-end where the main switch board and the rest of the data resides.
If anyone can help me out that would be great. Oh yeah, The Access database in is Access 2000 being used on a machine running XP Pro.

Ok, so I will sound like the dumbest person but essentially what is a switch board?
I have searched this place I have searched google but no luck, all I get is that its a menu to navigate, so basically a form with buttons that open frm's qry's etc... I have made a main menu with a basic form so whats so special about a switchboard.

Help - I made a switchboard and it went wrong, so deleted all of the sub switchboards and the switchboard icon in the forms window.
I have now made a new one, but I can't get it to appear in the forms window.
Any ideas?

I think this is a simple request for those who know.
I want to display my switchboard to a user group, (read and update ).
The switchboard needs to be full screen and have no means of being minimsed or close, except by the exit button (obviously) on the switchboard.I also do not want to show any of the tool bar icons as well.
I want to retain it as it is now to me as 'admin' when I log in, that is with the ability to minimise and close etc.and all icons
How do I achieve this?
