Does anyone have a US zip code - time zone table or tables? I have been unable to find this data online without paying 150.00. I need this for a web application that i am doing.
I have this project where I need to scan the MRP zone on the passport to my form. Let me first explain what is MRP zone. MRP is know as Machine Readable Passport Zone which you usally find on the first page of US Passport right under the Photographs and it looks like this
1st Line So P stands for Passport and Contry code is USA and then last name Eriksson and first name Anna and middle name Maria.
2nd line Passport number and Date of birth and sex and so on.
Now I am in process of ordering a keybord that has a MRP reader on the top( http://www.accesskeyboards.co.uk/ATB420%20Reader.htm ) from this company in UK. You can find the specification on the keyboard from the above link.
So as soon as I scan/swipe it, it will give me information in the following format.
FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, DOB, SEX, PASSPORT NUMBER.
SO ONCE I HAVE THE INFORMATION IN COMMA FORMAT, HOW DO I GET THIS DATA INTO MY RESPECTIVE FIELDS INSTANTLY, AS SOON AS I SWIPE THE PASSPORT.
Hello buddies :D, do you have any idea how to make this work?
To select data that falls within this criteria of date range between cboDate and cboDate2 (fields on my form). The date in [tblJobDetails]![timeIn] come in this format "08/17/06 10:24 AM", but the cboDate/cboDate2 (takes in date only e.g 08/17/06) what i am after is to evaluate specific hard coded time in addition to the date entered, i.e. even tho, i haven't entered time on the cboDate/cboDate2, I want specific time hard coded where e.g If i select a date range of 08/17/06 and 08/18/06 on my cboDate and cboDate2 it should really be evaluating: 08/17/06 8:00 AM to 08/18/06 8:00 AM.
This is the criteria i curentlly have on my query in design view tha works perfect in selecting date only. ([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Is Null) And ([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Is Null) How can I incorporate 8:00am to 8:00am into my cboDate and cboDate2. What can i do to make this happen? Your kindness will be greatly appreciated http://www.naijaryders.com/forums/images/smilies/thankyou.gif
I have an attendance database and I connect the time attendance machine db to my access db, what i am trying to do is to generate a report that shows the time in and time out for specific date. the type of attendance db is date/time.
Please see the attached screenshot db from attendance machine.
an also some time there is duplicate entry, I need to get the first and the last entry only for specific date.
I am wondering why access does not follow its own code all of the time?
For example I have passworded forms following the tutorial on the Microsoft site. It mostly works when the participants fills in the wrong password we will get an error message box and when they cancel the password dialogue box it wont let the person enter the form - but not all the time. Sometimes if you press cancel it still opens the form anyway (without requiring the correct password).
This is similar with the module that I put in to prevent people from using the mousewheel to leave their record etc. Most times it works but sometimes it just isnt called on form load.
There is nothing wrong with any of these codes and when they work they work well but I cant seem to rely on access to do what is supposed to?
The task is (1) output an Access query to Excel (2) overwrite that file if it already exists (3) apply specific formatting to the header row and the other rows in Excel. I have cobbled the code together from two sources. The beginning and end are adapted from code on btabdevelopment.com but the large insert in the middle is code I got form a project a former colleague had done. But he's no longer around.
The problem: I click the button and everything works OK. The file is created and formatted just how I want. If I click the button a second time though, it seems to run OK, but when I open the file it is NOT formatted. However, theres another window behind it called Book 1 which has all the data and all the correct formatting it just hasnt been saved. If I click it a third time I get an error message that says Object variable or With block variable not set. Im not even 100% all that is accurate because I have tried it a multitude of ways, closing and re-opening the form, closing and re-opening Access itself, starting with Excel open or closed, never with the destination excel file open though. I dont seem to get exactly the same behaviour any two times. But as far as I can see, if I close and re-open Access, it always works the first time. So I can live with it.
Code: Private Sub cmdExport_Click() On Error GoTo Errhandler Dim rs As DAO.Recordset Dim oExcel As Object Dim oBook As Object Dim oSheet As Object
I have the following code that creates a long string that works most of the time but sometimes gets cut short. I can't understand why it does this. When it cuts the string short it cuts it short in the same place. Everything gets in the string up to/or about the following code '</Practice Name>'This string is needed to upload info to a server.
Code: Function FormatTime(Amount As Double, Rate As Double) As String Dim x As String x = CStr(Round(Amount / Rate * 60)) FormatTime = Format(x / 1440, "hh:mm:ss") End Function
How can i modify this code to accommodate time that exceed 1440 minutes?
Where would I access the event properties for when the entire database closes? Something like the On_Close event for a form, but for the whole database.
I want to have Access prompt to back up the database upon exit, so when someone clicks the close button, a dialog box opens and asks "Do you want to back up?" with an Yes or No option. Yes would obviously run the backup code, and No would simply exit.
I was wandering if it is possible to implicitly execute code upon the opening of a database? If so how do I do this? I have code to convert the page settings of a report from a command click but wanted this to be done automatically...
I am aware that there are a lot of existing threads relating to compacting and repairing but I cant seem to find what I am looking for. Basically, I developed a complaints database for my employers and it is used by around 45 people at any one time. The database was one of firt I built so it is not the best and is serious bloatware. Our server management team gave me an ear bashing the other day because the BE was 145MB. I did a compact and repair which took it to 45MB. The problem is that I need to do this daily but it involves kicking everyone out of their linked FE so the BE can be compacted/repaired. As an interim measure before I rebuild the whole thing I am going to schedule a database to open that will compact and repair the Complaints Database BE. Can anyone tell me the code to use to compact another database other than the one I am using. I have been looking at the code in other posts but I cant get it to work. The code I was looking at is the DBEngine.CompactDatabase... but I dont understand what comes after this and why??
I had someone write some code to access an Access database. The code works with the database as is, however if I choose to compact & repair the database to minimize its size, the code no longer works. What could be different about the database once it's been minimized using the database utilities?
Thanks, Rick
P.S. Does compacting the database make it more responsive to users on the web that query the database, or doesn't it much matter?
Hi there, Thank you for this great site, and a special thanks to all persons here who are giving a big help to newbees as me. here is my prob: I have set up some few ASP pages using dreamweaver 8 in wich I put some forms to collect data from users (actually I'm recruting subjects for a scientific research) and teste them on my local host using IIS server and access 2000 database. all things work correctly. My strconnection in my local machin is as follow: Code:<%' FileName="Connection_ado_conn_string.htm"' Type="ADO" ' DesigntimeType="ADO"' HTTP="true"' Catalog=""' Schema=""MM_connsujets_STRING = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=c:InetpubwwwrootSujetsRecdbRecruSujets .mdb; Persist Security Info=False"%> I have found a site (http://www.asphost4free.com) wich host free asp pages. I uploaded my pages but the connection to the data base is no longer working. the host site give this sample of code to get to connect to the data base: Dim Conn Set Conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") strConnection = "DRIVER=Microsoft Access Driver(*.mdb);DBQ=" & Server.MapPath("/USERNAME/db/yourdatabase.mdb") oConn.Open(strConnection) .... ... oConn.Close I have follwed it and I have changed the username and the database name with mine but I can't figure out what to put to replace the .... after oConn.open. I git error this error when I have tryed to connect: Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01a8'
Object required: 'oConn'
/kin2006/Connections/connsujets.asp, line 11
I deleted the oconn but it doesn't help I have tryed many other combination without any success. Any clue!! thanks in advance
I woul like to programatically (with VBA code) hide and unhide the database window.
In Access 97, this can be done with Tools > Startup > Display database window box (check/uncheck).
But I would like my program does that himself : when the user launches the application, the database window should be hidden and when he leaves, the database window should be shown again.
I have an access database which was created in 2003. I opened a blank database and imported the definition and data in access 2010 and made the file an accde file. Now this file has a lock symbol next to the access symbol. I am also unable to edit the main form.
I'm trying to find all the table names from another database file using VB code. This is what i have so far:
Code: Function getFileNameOpen(path) As String Dim f As Object Dim varFile As Variant Set f = Application.FileDialog(3)
[Code] ....
This function will show a browser window so that the user can select a file, and returns the file path.
Code: Function OpenFile() Call getFileNameOpen(path) Dim db As Database Dim td As TableDef Database = path
[Code] ....
I have this function. I need to get all the table names from the selected access file into a list so I can do a for loop after.
I can't figure out how to set the CurrentDb() to the path one. This code gives me the table names and some other names of stuff which I don't know what they are. But for the current database not the one in the path.
I am using a database name as school. having a form name as form01.with cmd button close which close the form. I want to close form with ms Access database. So when user click close button application database will be closed.
I'm trying to import a few tables from a FoxPro database into an Access Database using VBA code. I know I have done it before and I remember struggling with the format last time.
i have a database that is going to be shared across a network server. What i would like(if possible).
USER 1 has opened up the Microsoft Access database and has spent 15 Minutes entering information. USER 2 then goes to open the same database, but gets a message saying something along the lines of "Database already in use, please try again later.
I need to create or adapt from a similar database a means to capture time (labor) spent on projects. I've searched for this topic, but have come up empty. Perhaps I'm just not searching on the correct search terminology. Here are the basic requirements:
One department can have many employees, but each employee is a member of only one department. An employee can be transferred from one department to another, and records created when the employee was a member of department 1 need to be retained under that department, while records created after the employee has been transferred to department 2 need to be recorded as such.
Projects can be worked on by any employee in any department. Many employees can work on any project.
Employees need to log in to the database daily and report the time spent on each project. A list of all projects needs to be displayed with the ability to enter the number of hours spent on each.
Reporting to include grouping of employees into departments; time spent by a department in total on each project; who worked on which project and total time spent.
There is a management shakeup here and I'm under a lot of pressure to get this done. I've done a very simple database, but nothing as complex as this.
I am setting up a database to help me prepare codes for employees timesheets in order to upload them into our payroll software. The table structure below is just my preliminary thoughts and current ideas and I guess I'm looking for ideas on how to work with my codes.
EMPLOYEE TABLE EmpID (PK) - Employee ID # [Autonumber] Surname - Employee's surname [Text] Firstname - Employee's first name [Text]
ATTENDANCE TABLE ShiftID (PK) - Shift ID# [Autonumber] EmpID (SK) - Employee ID# [Foreign Key] Date - Date of shift [Date/Time] Start - Start time of shift [Time] Finish - Finish time of shift [Time] CostCtr - Cost centre being billed for shift. [Integer]
When employees work they are entitled to the following: * Ordinary hours (code 001) for all hours worked. * 10% penalty (code 006) for all hours worked when shift finishes after 18:00 * 12% penalty (code 007) for all hours when shift crosses midnight * 50% penalty (code 008) for hours worked on a saturday * 100% penalty (code 009) for hours worked on a sunday
The following shows data that in my Attendance table for an employee who worked shifts on the 16th (Mon), 17th (Tue), 20th (Fri), and 22nd (Sun). ShiftIDEmpIDDateStartFinishCostCtr 18443416/10/0610:0019:00 28443417/10/0610:0019:003002 38443420/10/0622:0006:003001 48443422/10/0614:0022:00 From the above data I believe I will need to make another table that contains the entitlement codes generate from each shift.
For the first shift on Monday 16/10/06 I need to collect the following codes for the total calculation: CodeHoursCostCtr 0019.00 0069.00
For the second shift on Tuesday 17/10/06 I need to collect the following codes for the total calculation: CodeHoursCostCtr 0019.003002 0069.003002
For the third shift on Friday 20/10/06 I need to collect the following codes for the total calculation: CodeHoursCostCtr 0018.003001 'Ordinary hours worked 0078.003001 '12% penalty as shift crossed midnight hour 0086.003001 'Only worked 6 actual hours on the Saturday as 2 hours were on Friday night.
For the fourth shift on Sunday 22/10/06 I need to collect the following codes for the total calculation: CodeHoursCostCtr 0018.00'Ordinary hours worked 0098.00'Hours worked on the Sunday
From that information the only data I really need to store in a table would be the totals grouped by code and cost centre. Eg., CodeHoursCostCtr 00117.00 001 8.003001 001 9.003002 006 9.00 006 9.003002 007 8.003001 008 6.003001 009 8.00 Does anyone know the best way to go about this? Should I generate a new table that links these codes to an employee? Should I make a function to calculate the codes for each day and store them in a table or make the function only sum the code totals for the week and store them in a table?
