I have a query that performs some calculations, these calculations feed into another query and produce a final value. If there are no null values everything works perfectly. But when there are null values, I get errors.
What I have tried:
1) I tried to implement the Nz function for each field of the formula that is not calculated but from user input.
2) I tried to implement the Nz function for just the field that calculated the last result before feeding into the next query, but it didn't show the 0 value I gave.
3) I tried to use UPDATE TABLE SET in SQL, but I don't think I was using it right. I tried to use it for all records but always got an error when it ran.
The first two above result in showing no values at all, even if there are some. The third didn't work. How to easily update null values in the query to 0? All I could think of was to somehow use Criteria or SQL.
So I have a table containing 2 fields containing the first name and last name of a customer. I do need to add these names in the same table into a new field called Name. Can someone help me out?
I've got a fields called rev code that contain the following values:
field name: 110 131 250 255 258
field value: 7.49 6 11.25 12.11 78
I'm writing a query that pulls from the first two digits of the rev code and need to round off to the nearest dollar so in my query I'll have a column 11 with a value of 7, a column 13 with a value of 6, then I need to take columns 250 255 and 255 add the values together and round off so I get a column 25 with a value of 101.
I want to get remarks as like this i have a query which is showing the total of different fields suppose the total is 77 and I want to give a crietria field by name of net level which shall work like this ..
if the number is from 0 to 33 then then the result should be C-1 if from 33 to 40 then C-2 if from 41 to 50 then C-3 if from 51 to 60 then B-1 if from 61 to 70 then B-2 if from 71 to 80 then B-3 if from 81 to 90 then A-2 if from 91 to 100 the A-1
If I have a field in a table called "AddedBy", is there a way for this to default to the CurrentUser that's logged in to the database when a record is added to the table? I know you can use "Application.CurrentUser" both in the VB code and within SQL queries, but it doesn't seem to work if I put it in the "Default Value" box with the table editor. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks!
I have a totalquery that runs fine and give me the sum for both fields I'm looking for but I can't get the outputs to fill the fields on the form. I have tried the Dcount query in the control source but that just returns an error and locks up access.
Code: SELECT [Tble-wcDelays].Causedby, Sum([Tble-wcDelays].HoursDelay) AS SumOfHoursDelay FROM [Tble-wcDelays] GROUP BY [Tble-wcDelays].Causedby, [Tble-wcDelays].LinkingID HAVING ((([Tble-wcDelays].LinkingID)=[Forms]![Frm-ePlusCent]![cleanID]));
I reached the limit of 255 fields in a table. I just need to add one more field so I deleted several fields I no longer needed thinking I would then be able to add one more new field. However, I am still unable to add one more field. How to free up fields that are no longer needed?
Hey All, I have a main form PID and and Building form I need to have the data from the building table display on the building form, upon adding a new record. Since my PID form and building form are linked to show the same records. PID Form contains- PIN NUM, ADDRESS, PARID. The Building form contains, PIN NUM, DATE, PHONE, OWNER, SIZE, LOCATION... I open my main form filter my results for my reocrds to show up... PIN-20053227, ADDRESS-MAINSTREET, PARID-NEWFIE22. This data is obtained through the PARID table. Now I click on the command button to see my building forms, there are 6 records, here I have the ability to add, modify, delete, save... What i want to do is add a new record, but have some generic fields appear from my table. since my name, PIN, address hasnt changed. So I would like to click add, and have appear from the building table, OWNER, PHONE etc... How might I be able to do this?? Thanks- NOTE: Hey all I double posted this incase you didnt notice this in the FORMS, Form.

Hi, I am a newbie in MS Access. I am trying to write a simple database to record engineering drawings received. I would like to retain an entry into a field from a previous entry, but if it is slightly different allow the value to be overwritten.
For example:
If I receive a drawing from a particular person, (say) Osborne, then that is entered into the senders field. The next drawing I receive also from Osborne, wil already have Osborne in the entry field from the previous entry so I will not have to retype it. If a drawing is then received from someone else then Osborne is overtyped with the name of the new sender.
I am creating a small database to house results of certain tests. Is there a function in access that allows me to add fields if a result is out of the specification required. In other words I still need to record the out of spec results but I also need more fields to appear for the next lot of results to be entered, for example.
When cooking a batch of product I need to test the pH at the 30 minute mark if the pH is too low I will continue cooking the product for another 30 minutes and then test the product again. The cook time is not a constant so I never know how many samples are required, therefore I don't know how many fields i would need in advanced.
I am using Access 2013 and in table design view. Whenever I add a new 'Number' or 'Currency' field the 'Default Value' property is (by default) always 0.This is fine except when i want to refer to a foreign key or amount which could be unknown. In either of those cases the resulting field will either be invalid (because no foreign key has ID = 0) or inaccurate (because 0 is not the same as Unknown).
I would prefer if the 'Default Value' property for new fields was always nothing, then I can add my own if and when required. I want to change the default setting on a property for new fields, not the value of the field itself.
I'm guessing this isn't actually possible, but at least this post has served to vent my frustrations! What bugs me even more is that i'm sure it wasn't like this in Access '10, is this another "upgrade".
I have a blank form that is usually entered from scratch, so all the fields are empty.
We do fill out the form with standard data occasionally, so I'd like to be able to assign a button or use a combo box to automatically fill those fields with predetermined data.
Two questions:
1) Can I use a 'on click' for a button to populate the data using this:
I currently have a very basic table/query/report set up to calculate monthly revenue. The data type in my table fields are "Currency" and my existing default value is "0".
I would like to change the "0" default value to a "-" (dash) for non existing values and still be able to calculate totals.
How do I incorporate this dash line and still be able to calculate figures??
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration!!
Hello. I am looking for a way to make a field value automatically default to the value of the immediate prior field. For example, I am in record 11, and in Field "City" I type "New York." When I create record 12, I want City to automatically default to "New York." Is there a way to do this?
Im doing a project at school and it involves adding 2 entities and then the answer being displayed in another entitiy i have searched the forums but with no luck is it possible at all.
i have a form which has 2 subforms on it. In each of these subforms, i have a field which displays a total. Now i would like that in the footer of the main form i will create an unbound text box which will add the two total fields, and displays a grand total.
I need to add new fields to and existing form. I have added the fields to the table the form is based on. When I am in design view for the form I open the fields icon to add the fields but the fields are not showing up. How can I get the fields to show up so they can be added to the form? Thanks Henry
How do I make sure that for every record entered, a certain field automatically has a number 1 in it? I thought that it might be that you set the Default Value to 1 by typing "1" in the bit where it says "Default Value" at the bottom of the page. But this doesn't seem to work. :o
We have a database form that we use to create "SDN" forms for our engineering department. We want it to autogenerate a number for us for each form. We want this field to be 5600 + the record number. How do I do this?
