Auto Number In Access Query

I need to have an auto number in an access query, this is not the auto number already existing in the table. I need a separate auto number field in the query which begins with 1 and is in increasing order.

Oct 9, 2014I know Access can setup an Outlook Task to auto-export query to Excel, but it requires the Outlook to be always open on the user's computer.
Is there an easy way to setup a schedule that can automatically export a query to Excel and this schedule will then auto-email the exported Excel file to an email address every Monday at 5AM for example?
If this can only be done in VBA, any reference I may start with?
Auto Back Up Of Access
Jul 13, 2006What I would like to do is put a re-writable CD into the CD drive and leave it there. Access would copy it's back end onto the CD every day (say at 3 AM).
The "network" is the PC. Others link to it.
I've done a search and checked a few other places but no one seems to cover this.
I would like to keep it in Access but if I have to do somthing in Windows I will.

New To Access, Auto Date Issues

I'm new to access and have been creating a table to store data entered by machine operators about product quality checks in my factory. I can create the fields with the relevant data ok and make a form as the interface for the operators to enter the data but i am having trouble with the date and time.
What i need is for the date and time to be entered into the data base for each entry at the time of entry, but i need this to happen as an autodate type function as i dont want the operators to have the ability to fudge the dates or times.
I hope I have explained this well enough.
Any help would be appreciated.

New To Access, Auto Formatting Tables
Jun 17, 2005Hey guys, very new to access.
I've been put in charge of setting up a database for work which stores statement and invoice information.
I'm just wondering how I can auto format a field.
I'm guessing it's in the "Validation" section.
A statement is a collective of invoices for each month.
So each March '05 Statement will contain all March '05 Invoices
Basically, what I would like it to be able to do (:)) is for the date inputed into the database, it creates it's own "statementnumber".
Eg. March '05 will create a number as 305 for example. 3 being the month, 05 being the year.
Because I need a common number to setup a relationship of One-to-Many.
Just wondering if this was possible.

Auto Values In Access Tables?
Nov 7, 2006I am writing an access database which has to store properties for an estate agent. They have a PropertyID field which is the primary key in this table. The ID is always in the following format PL219AD23 (postcode PL21 9AD and house number 23) Is there a way that once an address of a property is entered then the ID is generated from that? Or do they always have to enter the property ID themselfs.
Any help or tips would be appreciated..

Jan 16, 2006we run a family business and i do all the quotations.
i have an access database in which i record these quotations and whether or not we got the job or not, and i have to input all the data manually.
i wondered if i could set a word document so that it would automatically export certain areas of the quotation (like the date, who it was to, what work we are quoting for, how much it would cost, etc) into the correct fields in my database.
can it be done??

Access Auto-correcting Strange Chars
Jun 19, 2007Is there a way to prevent Access from "auto-correcting" certain characters?
Example: If I enter "DEJA VU" into a table Access changes it to "DÉJÀ VU" with the strange É and À characters. I don't want this to happen.
There must be a way around it.

Dec 17, 2007Is there an easy way in Data access pages to do like you do in forms as far as using a dropdown list and when you choose a name/acct#/rec# or whatever, that the rest of the fields are automatically updated to match? Just curious.
If you need an example, I can provide one.... basically, I'm trying to get a data-acess-page to act like a form so someone without access can do a simple search.
Shortcut To Auto Correct Options Access 2010
Oct 7, 2015I have reinstalled Access 2010 due to a computer malfunction. I had customized my Dictionary with about 2000 abbreviations for medical specific words: gast for Gastroenterology for instance. Saves tons of typing. I have never been able to save my dictionary just in case something like this happens. And, It's happened before. I may have saved(unsure) once, but it was years ago on Access XP-2003, somewhere in that time frame and was never able to find it if I did. So I am reentering all these words again. It would sure be nice to be able to add them by Anything! but going File/Options/ Proofing/ Auto Correct Options and then entering my shortcuts. that's 4 steps each time. It would seem to me that if you can add the Auto-Correct icon in Word to the Word ribbon, Access should be able to do this. There is no icon i can find in Customize Ribbons/ All Commands. My Word Dictionary does not -never has- synced with Access' Dictionary.

I currently use a macro to auto email this report for me but it still requires me to double click the macro to make it run. Jun 29, 2012So I have created this database for a lessons learnt system. Is it possible in Access 2007 to create a button that if pressed automatically sends an email out to someone? So my main form in the database is a split form which contains a search filter, which works well and also contains a button called add new lesson. This button is linked into another form and when pressed brings up this new form. In this form it has a save and close button. What I actually would like is when the form is updated and this save and close button is pressed, an email is sent to a "project head" who has to confirms the information before the data is saved into the database. Is this actually possible?

General :: Access FE User Auto Copy Most Recent File
Jun 4, 2013I have an access 2007 database that is split front end and back end. There are about 15 users and the backend is stored on the network. Currently I am e-mailing out the FE when chagnes are made so they have the latest copy.
With everything I have read I think a bat file would work the best at allowing me to make changes on demand without having to continually email out new versions of the FE. Sometimes the changes are behind the scenes unnoticable to the user while others are obvious.
Questions: Exactly HOW does a bat file work? When the user clicks on the access file stored on their laptop? Where is the bat file stored? I am unfamiliar with where to write the bat file code as well - notepad perhaps?
I am not sure how to create a bat file and what the code should be?
For version tracking I need to put a version table in the BE and in the front end correct?
have made a few significant changes but I'm holding out e-mailing it if I can get this version copying figured out and in place first.
Access Form Auto Populated Fields With Linked Tables
Nov 29, 2013I am really new to Access 2010 as I normally use SQL so im sure this is a very basic question. I have a form where I have linked some sql tables to a table in access so the data gets stored in SQL. The form consists of many fields the basic fields are Policy ID, Name, Office, Month, Dept etc. At the moment users have to fill this in using comboboxes and text boxes but I want to change this so when the user puts in the Policy ID all the other fields are populated ie in the office field it would have a sql query of or something that looksup the office from the policy id that is entered:
SELECT [Office] FROM DBO.DQ
WHERE [Policy_ID]='what is entered into the Policy ID field' and so on.
Also not sure if this works but as I have now linked the tables to SQL does this mean that when a user fills in the information into the form it will then update the SQL table or is this another issue?

Ex: DGG-ECG-001

DGG-XRY-001

WBH-XRY-001
WBH-XRY-002 and so on.....
Where DGG & WBH are Hospital Codes (PK in tblHospitalCodes) ; ECG & XRY are Equipment Codes (PK in tblEquipmentCodes) ; last 3 digit denotes the AutoNumber.Both the Hospital & the Equipment select using combo box then generates the AutoNumber Using command Button.
Forms :: Access 2010 Auto Update Calculated Date Field?
Jan 21, 2015I have a database to track temporary decertification's. I have the expiration and max dates calculated out from the original dates at the top of each box. The temp expiration date is calculated by adding 267 days from the first date . When we enter an extension, the new expiration date is 30 days from the extension date. My question is, how can I make the expiration date update when a new extension is put in.
For ex.

how can I make the expiration date update to go 30 days from what is in the extens field 1, 2, and 3 (respectively) instead of 267 days from the original date?

What I'm looking for is coding that would start with the first ID number in CONTACTS and see if there is the corresponding ID in DATA. If there is, then I want it to create an Outlook email and have:
1.To field populated with the email address in the CONTACTS table
2.From and CC fields to be my email address
3.The subject line needs to read [ID] "Request" and then today's date backward (e.g. 20150420).
4.The body I need to put some generic wording and then a table with the records from the DATA table (first 5 fields plus the headings).
5. The format of the table etc isn't important as long as it is a table format
If it's created the email I want it to go back to the DATA table and put "Email Created" in the Action column for those IDs.
I don't want the email to automatically send; I only want it to create a draft (as this data needs to be manually confirmed before sending).
If for example it gets to checking in DATA table for ID 002 (and as seen there's none there), I want it to skip creating the email and move on to the next ID.
In the end I would expect to see 3 draft emails open in Outlook ready to be sent, looking something like the below (just 001 below)?

Function Called Via Auto-exec Fails When Using Access 2007 Runtime
Jan 8, 2013I am making my very first tentative steps to convert my most complex Access 2003 app to run under Access 2007. There are no obvious problems when simply opening my original MDB file in Access 2007 or running it after conversion to an ACCDB file. However, when I try to run the ACCDB file under the Access 2007 Runtime I get a "You can't carry out this action at the present time..." error. This is then followed by the "Execution of this application has stopped due to a runtime error..."
To be more specific, I only get that error when I deliberately hide the back end database and thus invoke code triggered via Autoexec to allow the user to browse for the missing database. This code works fine when running under normal Access 2007 so it appears to be a Runtime issue.
Access 2010 - Auto Populate Correct Persons Email Address
May 1, 2014I currently have a database set up with three basic forms:
Form 1 = Main menu with options to go to Form 2 and Form 3
Form 2 = Employee information form which includes email address
Form 3 = Employee document upload form
My goal is once the Employee is registered in Form 2 they can then upload a document in Form 3. When they upload this document and fill out other parameters Including their bosses name (which is captured as a record in Form 2) they click "Submit Form." I would like for this submit form button to populate an email that is updated to send to the selected "Bosses name"
