Automatically Populate First Line Of Subform

i have a form frmCreditNote with a subform sfrmCreditNote. They are linked by a creditNoteNumber.
As soon as i pick a customer in the main form, i want the first line of the subform to have that customer name as well.
If I change the customer name in the main form, I need the first line of the subform to correspondingly change as well.
If the form was new, i would open a recordset and use .AddNew to put in the new first line date
If I was updating the form customer name, then I would need a .Edit to change the first line of the subform.
My question is : how do I determine if the subform is empty? Is it a command likeIf subform.HasData, orIf IsNull(?)Please let me know thanks

I have a textbox on continues form which contains multiple lines and I d like to set it up so it ll be scrolled down completely when it displays the form. I ve already found a few so called solutions but nothing worked for me.

One table contains UserID and information related to the user. Another table has been created and will be populated by a form. Basically the form asks approx 65 questions and I need the answers (for each question) to populate the table, so 65 records of data.
From everything I have read, for me to be able to pull all of the answers linked to the UserID (the person answering the questions), the UserID has to be in the table with each record. How do I link the UserID to each line automatically. To give you a bigger picture, I will have 5 users going into the database daily to answer the questions and I will need to link the user ID to each of the answers selected by each user. Over time, there will be thousands of records and I need to pull stats by UserID.
How do I create the form so that the answers to each question creates 65 separate records. Do I have to create a save button after each question?

I wish to automatically fill in a form in datasheet view with records from a table. Currently you need to select each record to fill the list. I think this can be done using VBA, I'm a begininner to programming but think I need the code to do something like this.
Lookup the table or query, DoCmd select the first record, DoCmd select next record, Loop to end of recordset??
Basically it is automatically entering/ filling in each row (record) in the datasheet for every record in that table or query.
Any idea's please.

I made a bunch of tables by importing them from excel. Then I had someone ask me a question regarding a specific instrument. My tables have a bunch of parts and id's but I don't have the instrument associated with a specific part in the table.
Is it possible to add the data into the new column automatically using a query. I tried the append query, but I'm either doing it wrong or it won't do what I'd like it to do. I just want every record within that table to have the same instrument in an instrumentId column.

I have a form where all records are listed on one page with a vertical scrollbar (all simple textboxes):

... underneath these on the form is a blank record for NEW additions, which obviously has nothing in any of its textboxes, waiting for user to input some data, as normal.
The Foreign Key, due to the nature of my DB, will always be the SAME value for each record in the DB (don't ask, it's part of an export/import-to-main-db app). So I know that the NEW record, if created, will have the same value as the rest of the records.
How do I get it so that when a new record is created, the Foriegn Key textbox is automatically filled in with the value from the row above? (Due to referential integ reasons the Foreign Key field MUST be filled in accuratly or else an error ocurrs.)
Looking at the various events, I realise that it is the BeforeInsert event that will sort this out, but I'm at a loss regarding how to get the NEW record's Foreign Key textbox to match the Foreign Key value above it.
Any advice?

I think that you can help me with my problem, similar to the one presented here.
I have a form that, when I select an account number, I want the Group to automatically populate on the form.
Below is the code I input on the 'OnChange' event of the 'Group' field on my form:
strFilter = "OracleAccountNumber = '" & Me!OracleAccountNumber & "'"
Me!Group = DLookup("Group", "Accounts", strFilter)
OracleAccountNumber is the name of the field on my form, and it is the name of the combo box in the table that I want to lookup.
Accounts is the table where I want to lookup the OracleAccountNumber
Group is the field from the Accounts table that I want to automatically populate.
What do I have wrong?

I have a training log that has 4 tables, the employee table, the training course table, and the department table.
These tables all contain the names of employees, training courses, and department in one field and their respective ID codes in the other.
The 4th table is the actual log where the manager logs in who took the training courses. When the manager goes to select the employee name, course name, and department name is there a way not using VBA for the respective ID number to appear in the 4th table (they use the same field names and are related)

I am having trouble figuring out the method to automatically update some fields in SubForm from 2 other SubForms.I have attached 2 pics, the first GradeEntry1 shows what the tblTopic_Class_Grade form looks like after I manually enter everything into it. GradeEntry2 is what the form looks like when I fill out the Form starting at the top.
I'd like the tblTopics_Class_Grade form auto-populate the TrainingClassID (it currently does this), TopicClassID, StudentID, TrainingTopicID based off the entry from the above forms.My end goal is that I need to have a grade for each student on each training topic for each class. Like:
Class1-Student1-Topic1-GradeX
Class1-Student1-Topic2-GradeX
Class1-Student2-Topic1-GradeX
Class1-Student2-Topic1-GradeX

Hi! This is my first time writing in. I have been struggling with Access for the past 2 months... I am stuck with a problem. I have a variation of the Order form in the Northwind Example, with a subform called OrderDetailsExtended. The primary keys for the OrderDetails Extended subform and its corresponding table are the orderNumber (which is the link with the mail Orders form) and Item. Basically, my question is.. each time i want to add a new record, I want the Item number to automatically increment (but i am not using autonumber for this). The item field is currently disabled.
However, each time i enter a new record, the item number automatically becomes 0. And if I close the form and reopen it, the number changes to 1... Here is the VBA code i used...

i have a form with a subform. the first line of the subform is supposed to mirror some of the data filled in the form. as soon as the appropriate data is filled in the main form, i would like the first line of the subform to reflect this sama data. i also want this first line of the subform to be disabled so that users cannot have different data between the main form and this first line....
is this possible? how would i disable just this first line? is there any function to disable it?

Hi,
I have a form which records computer faults reported by users. On this form there is a subform for comment tracking eg. Phoned user, Date/Time. On the next line would be; Informed user to do this, Date/Time and so on. I have a button on my form which I would like to use to automatically put in a line of data. It is an aknowlegde fault button. What it hopefully would do is when you click the button it will automatically put in the date/time in the subform, Then the word "acknowledged" in the comment field, then prompt for the user name ( for the username field).
I am not sure on how to start the command. If i were to do it in the same form then I would just put something like;
me.Date.Value = Date()
me.Comment.value = "Acknowledged"
me.Username.value = "[Prompt]"
As you can see I have two problems though;
1. The data has to be entered in a subform
2. My Prompt I dont think will work.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I have a single main form with a datasheet subform. When I scroll through the records shon in the main form, each has a different set of child records shown in the subform.
I want the focus to be on the last record of the subform each time.
On the main form, I have a button and this code

If I call this code from main form's OnCurrent, focus remains on the first line of the subform instead of going to the the last. I have an inkling that it has to do with when the requery of the subform takes place, when I scroll through the records on the main form.

I have a main form where the user chooses a BoxID. There is a subform on this main form that has a relationship between BoxID on the main form and subform. The users are entering data in the subform and when they have entered 10 lines of info I have a message that tells them to start a new box (I could not work out how to do it any other way as I lack VB skills). The user closes the form or clicks add new record to create a new box. If I view the previous record there should only be 10 lines of information in the subform but there are 11 as it takes the blank line as a new record....

I have an Orders form (frm-Orders) that includes a subform (frm-Order Details Subform). The subform has line item totals.I want to be able to sum the line item totals and show the result on the main form, but I can't get it to work. Seems like it should be an easy thing to do.
Someone suggested I try this but it didn't work:
In the footer of the subform I created this expression - =SUM([Line Item Total].
Then in the main form I created a textbox with this -- =[Forms]![frm.Orders].[Form]![frm-Order Details Subform].[Form]![txtSum].

With a particular client, they want to display a subform in datasheet mode. They do not want an alternative like continuous forms. If I am displaying the subform in datasheet mode, is there any way to eliminate the header row which contains the names of the columns in the subform? I know how to remove the captions themselves but the header row is still there. I don't think it can be done but I wanted to check here with those more familiar with this.

I need to create a New Form control for this situation:
If I enter a date into a field and the choice for another field is equal to a certain value. How can I get the date I entered to be automatically populated into another date field.
For example:
If I enter 11/10/2005 in a date field and I choose either "BN", "BA", or "BT" in a text field, I need that date of 11/10/2005 to be automatically populated in another date field on the same form.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
I've got a main form with some unbound fields and a subform. From the unbound fields in the mainform, I modify dynamically the RecordSource of my subform to display the information. ==> This works fine !!
When there is no information to display in my subform, I need to create a new record in my subform and populate automatically some of the fields in my subform.
The problem is that I am not able to use the GoTorecord,, acnewrec in the subform because Access tells me that the subform is not open. If I try to use the Openform command, I get a new subform window on the screen and that's not what I want because the subform is already displayed.
Here is part of the code:
DoCmd.OpenForm "Subform name"
DoCmd.GoToRecord acDataForm, "Subform name", acNewRec

I have searched, but found no reference to my exact question. I have a list of drivers I need to create a checklist for each day. The Parent form is the day and the subform is the list of drivers. What I would like to do is have a command button automatically enter all the drivers that are active (denoted by a chechbox) into the tabular subform.

there is a field in my form named "numphotos" and I write the number of photos than that folder contains.
I have a subform in that main form named "descriptions", here I describe, one for one, all photos of that folder.
Itsnīt a problem if the folder contains a few photos, but I have folders that have even 100 photos :confused: then I must to create 100 records in my subform :eek:
I would like than Access create those records automatically according to the number of photos that I indicate at the field numphotos.

I only would desire that Access create that many lines to me as I have written on "numphotos". I would write the rest of the information (photographer and description)

This may be a simple question, but I'm not sure what to even search for. I have a form with multiple subforms. All the subforms have related fields that are linked via relationships. But one subform has no fields in common with the parent form.
I need to be able to have the subform update itself whenever the record is changed on the parent form. I can't figure out which event procedure to use. It updates correctly if I assign my procedure to the form_click sub, and then click each time I want it updated, but that's a pain. I've tried on load, on data change, on activate, on data set change, and a couple others, but nothing works automatically.
How can I make the subform run a subroutine each time the parent form changes records?

I have one problem with subforms. I have one bound main form and two bound subforms: one subform is used to display existing records in datasheet view while another is used to enter new records in form view, but this latter subform for new records will not save automatically, nor will it save by using the me.refresh or me.dirty=true in the unload event of the subform control. The parent child relationship is intact. I can even see the primary key of the new row in the subform but it does not appear in the table that the subform is based on. This primary key adds by one automatically.
I have struggled and finally made work a combo box in the main form that finds existing records but also is able to add new records when the value entered is not on the list. Below is the code I used. I am not sure if this code is overriding Access's save ability of the subform?
