Can A Refresh Button On A Form Remove The Current Filter.

Mar 5, 2006

hi, i have a search form, and when you double click on the record, it opens that record in my main form (which opens filtered)

this is fine because it displays the record that i want to see

however, when i try to perform other tasks on my main form, such as choosing the id from a combo box and finding that record, it wont work because the form is still filtered, one way to get around this is to open and close the form, but is there a way that i can implement something into my refresh button that removes a form filter.

Private Sub Refresh_Page_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Refresh_Page_Click

DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, 5, , acMenuVer70

Exit_Refresh_Page_Click:
Exit Sub

Err_Refresh_Page_Click:
MsgBox Err.Description
Resume Exit_Refresh_Page_Click

End Sub

Filtered Form - Remove Toggle Filter Button?

May 16, 2012

I have a form that opens with a filter on depending on what the user is supposed to see. When I deploy this, I don't want them to see the "toggle filter" button at the top. I tried making a custom ribbon like this:

Code:
<customUI xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com
/office/2006/01/customui">
<ribbon startFromScratch="true">
<tabs>
<tab idMso="TabHome" visible="false" />

[Code] ....

But it didn't seem to have any effect. When I applied it, it didn't even create "A Custom Tab". That might be because I have disabled everything that I could disable on the "Current database" options, I'm not sure.

Forms :: Refresh Current Form With Filtered Records

Sep 13, 2013

I have a form that displays records from a table.

When opened it displays all records (no selection yet).

I put would like to put 2 buttons to filter records (Male/Female).

I'm thinking of 2 possible options:

1-on click run a script that will close current form, then reopen it with selection criteria
2-directly apply a filter on the current form that would automatically refresh itself with the right records

Another (heavy, inelegant?) solution would be to create duplicates of this form. they would be loaded from separate queries that select the right records in either choice.

Modules & VBA :: Remove Specific Filter From Split Form?

Jun 27, 2013

So I have been developing a database tool that needs to have multiple ways of filtering data. I wanted to be able to display the data nicely so I'm using a split form.

As usual, there is an easy to read form on the top half and a datasheet on the bottom half. On one side of the form half I have some comboboxes that are associated with fields in the datasheet. The comboboxes apply multiple filters, narrowing the search results down. It all works fine.

However, I've been trying to figure out a way to remove just one filter at a time. There is a button to the right of each combobox that is intended to clear just one filter.

So far this is what I have. This code clears all filters.

Code:
Function removeFilter(source As String, combo As ComboBox)

'source is the field being filtered and combo is the current
'value of the combobox

With Forms("PART_QUERY")
.Filter = "[" & source & "] = " & Chr(34) & combo & Chr(34)
.FilterOn = False
End With

End Function

I had some success using another method with select statements. Every time I cleared a filter, I would also check every other combobox to see if they were not null, then reapply each one of there filters. That seems way over complicated. I'm sure I'm missing something.

How do I remove one, specific filter from a split form, after I have applied many different filters?

Forms :: Refresh Form Data On Button Click

Feb 24, 2015

Here is the scenario:

Form 1 - Data entry for a new project
Form 2 - Data entry for a task associated with the project in the Form 1

Button on form 1 that opens Form 2.

What I am trying to do:

Use a combobox on Form Two to choose the Project entered into Form 1, so I can capture the Form1 PK as a FK on Form 2.

Here is the problem:

Refreshing the record on the button click so that the new option entered into Form 1 shows up in the combo box on Form 2.

Full disclosure:
I'm not much good at VBA so I have been trying to do this by customizing the button macro. I have tried Refresh, and Requery, but I can't seem to get it to update the list in the combo box.

2 questions:

1. How can I get this accomplished?
2. Is there a better way to get this data into the table than what I am trying to do?

Forms :: Filter Button On Form As Filter

Aug 1, 2013

I have placed a filter button on a form as a filter and written the following on-click event procedure:

DoCmd.SetWarnings False
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdApplyFilterSort
Me.Filter = "ACCOUNT_DO_NOT_EMAIL = 'HS'"
Me.FilterOn = True

When I click the filter button I get a blank message box titled 'Microsoft Access" and an OK button, when closed the filter works perfectly.I have checked this procedure in other forms and it works without showing the blank message box.The only difference with this form is that its control source is a union query.

Forms :: Limit Filter To Current Row Of Continuous Form

Jul 28, 2015

I've built a basic inventory management system that allows a business to add products and the ingredients (and labour etc.) that go into them so they can work out costs and profit.We've run into a bit of a usability problem in the sense that they have 700 different ingredients and so adding them to products has become a little unwieldy as the lists in the comboboxs are massive.

What they've asked me to do is to add a filter combobox to the Ingredients subform of their New Product page that allows them to constrain the Ingredients by type, to make the lists more manageable. So if you imagine they are entering a record for a new cake and need to add Eggs as an ingredient they could either...

a) Scroll through the list of 700 ingredients as they do currently and find "Size 3 chicken egg".

...or...

b) Use a combobox on the ingredient row to pick "Eggs" which would in turn filter the ingredients combobox on that row from 700 ingredients down to a handful e.g."Size 1 chicken egg", "Size 2 chicken egg", "Size 3 chicken egg", "Size 1 duck egg" etc.

the filter combobox applies to all rows in the subform! Is there a clever way of telling the Filter to only apply itself to the current row of the continuous form?My code is...

Code:
Private Sub FilterRMs()
Dim mySql As String
If Me.RMTypeFilter.Column(1) = "999" Then
Me.FilterOn = False

code]....

Entering Current Date In A Field Via Form Button?

Aug 16, 2012

I am trying to figure out to have the current date populate in table field by using a button on a form and not having much luck.

I have a table with 2 date fields, a 'created' field and a 'received' field. I already have the date set to auto populate for the 'created' field but I don't want the 'received' field to populate until the employee has gone into the database to receive the work.

I know I could have the employee just enter the date, but i want to avoid any typos or people simply forgetting to do it.

Ideally I would love the button to enter the current date into the 'received' field and save the entry, but I fine it needs to be 2 seperate buttons.

"Save Record" Button In A Subform To Also Refresh The Data In The Main Form

Mar 26, 2005

I have a form which contains one subform. On the subform I have a command button which saves the record just entered. On the main form I have a "refresh form data" button which updates the main form so that the calculated controls can show the correct results based on the data just entered?

Can anyone tell me how I can get the "save record" button in the subform to subsequently refresh the data in the main form as well, thus saving a button???

Many thanks.

Filter Command Button On A Form

Dec 12, 2005

I have a basic question.

I am trying to put a button on a form I have created so that I can use Filter by Form feature on it. I used the toolbox commnad button wizard and chose the Form Operations -> Apply Form Filter option for the button.

Unfortunately, this button does not work for this choice. In the Form view, if I click on this button nothing happens. Other choices in the wizard such as Edit Form Filter etc works.

Does anyone know what could be the problem? Is this an Access bug (i am using Access 2003).

If it is a bug, can anyone suggest what little modifications one might have to do to the VBA code underlying OnClick event for the button to make this command button work?

thanks a lot for the help

Possible To Filter By Form Using A Command Button?

Mar 6, 2006

Hi, I'm an Access newbie. I've designed a fairly simple database to replace an old spreadsheet that was becoming unwieldy -- it was never really used so much for calculation as for data storage, so Access seems more appropriate anyway.

One of the functions I used in Excel was the autofilter, which I found very useful for zeroing in on specific portions of the data. I was wondering how I would do the same thing in Access, and then I discovered the "Filter by Form", which works just fine -- even better actually, since it has the whole and/or functionality.

I was wondering though if it would be possible to invoke "Filter by Form" using a command button. That would make it even easier, especially for some of my users who would almost certainly not know about "Filter by Form" otherwise.

Filter Button On Split Form?

Feb 11, 2015

I have this code set to a button on a split form. It filters out all the blank records for the "Status" column.

Private Sub cmdFilterPendingStatus_Click()
Me.Filter = "[Status]"
Me.FilterOn = True
Me.Requery
Me.txtFilterNamePlate.SetFocus
End Sub

I would like to do the exact opposite and filter out everything except for the blank records in the "Status" column.

How can I change the code to do this? I guess I should also mention that the "Status" field is a long text/memo box but I can easily change this to short text if I really have to. I realize that short text can do the blank filtering within the split form itself by clicking on that tiny arrow in the column header but I am trying to make it really user friendly where the user can just click a button to do this. The long text box has some options to filter but not for blank fields in a record which makes me think that this may not be possible to do if the Status field remains a long text box. Some examples for the filtering options that are available in the split form for a long text box are: Begins with, contains, ends with, etc... however, when I type "" to try and filter out everything except the records that have null in the Status field, it says that "" is not valid.

What can I do to get the results I need?

get it right...any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
