My database currently has a form with 2 subforms. The main form is the ConsultantList with a ConsultantID. This ConsultantID is carried over to a Contract subform when data is entered into the subform. This Contract subform also has a ContractID number that then carries over to a Services subform when data is entered into there.
I want to get rid of this subform within a form structure, and replace it with several linked forms with buttons to open the following form (ie The ConsultantList form will have a button to open up the Contract form). However, I cant figure out how to get the above data (ie ConsultantID, ContractID) to carry over when I have this structure. Does anyone know how to do this?
I made my subform structure (the one i first mentioned) via the Access wizard. My primary keys are ConsultantID (ConsultantList form), ContractID (Contract form), and ServiceID (Service form). If there is any other information needed, ill be happy to give it.
When the first form is opened, it generates a new record and the user selects a request type, which then opens the second form. Is it possible to carry the rec_id (autonumbered) from the first table/form and have it save in another field in the second table/form. The second table has its own autonumbered rec_id, the first table/form's rec_id would be stored as a number value.
I have a unique "CustomerID" that is an auto number (this is how I link tables, forms, etc.), and "CustomerNumber", "CustomerName", "CustomerSubNumber" that could be null and could have duplicate values.
The first form I have is a Contact Info form where users will enter the contact information such as customer numbers, names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. This then links to an order form. My order form has a place to carry over the "CustomerNumber", "CustomerName", "CustomerSubNumber" values from the ContactInfo table. I would like these fields to automatically populate based on the CustomerID unique number as well as only show the information for that customer ID (including listing out any previous orders).
I have constructed a DB for work to record accidents, however I am running into problems. On each form I have a button that Saves the data closes the current form and opens the next form, depending on what data was entered. I have this ruuning fine using this code,
Private Sub SaveRecord_Click()
Dim NextForm As String
If Me.Status = "Pupil / Child" Then NextForm = "StudentDetail" Else NextForm = "EmployerDetails" End If
DoCmd.save DoCmd.Close DoCmd.OpenForm NextForm End Sub
Private Sub SaveRecord_DblClick(Cancel As Integer)
Dim NextForm As String
If Me.Status = "Pupil / Child" Then NextForm = "StudentDetail" Else NextForm = "EmployerDetails" End If
DoCmd.save DoCmd.Close DoCmd.OpenForm NextForm
End Sub
The primary key of this form is "PersonKey" and the two forms taht could open, each have"PErsonKey" as a foriegn key. However the key does not get brought across into the next form and the save function does not appear to work on all forms...
I put another button on this form using the control button wizard, and it gave me this code,
Private Sub Command23_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Command23_Click
i would like in a form for a combo box to be able to select an item from a table and input relating information automatically into other boxes in the form..
I have 3 tables: Table 1 has product code and product description. Table 2 has invoice number company details, address etc. Table 3 has product code and product description qty and invoice number.. Table 3 relates to table 2 by the invoice number and table 3 product code looks up the product codes available in table 1 and also table 3 looks up the list of products descriptions in table 1 using the combo wizard. This means the wrong code can be put with wrong description. What i would like to know is how i select a product description and the product code in the form fills out automatically?? i hope this makes sense please helppppp!!
I an trying to create a data entry form (IndividualsEntryFm) to input data for fields such as (First Name),(Birthdate) etc., these to be saved to the (IndividualsTbl)
I also have another table (NamesTbl) which has family names etc. The two tables are linked by a (MainID) field. I want a combo box on the individualsEntryFm so that I can select the family name. Then I wish the empty fields for the IndividualsTbl to be available to enter data. When I press the save button I then want this data saved, together with the MainID from the combo box to the IndividualsTbl.
I have set the IndividualsTbl with a (PersonID) field as an auto number each individual therefore has a unique PersonID but may well share the MainID. I'm trying to link many people to the same address.
I want to use the same form in datasheet mode for data entry and retrieval. When retrieving, all controls are disabled and locked. I am trying to enable and unlock them for modifying but that isn't working.
I would like to filter data from a table using a query (from an data input form). The objective is to output all results if input form field is empty and to output results higher or equal to the type in the field if field is not Null. The query code is as follows:
i have a main form named(EMP) i have a subform named(SEMP)with EMPID i have an another form Named(SDetail) with EMPID i want to open form Sdetail with filter records for data select in subform (SEMP) ,EMPID field Subform SEMP in as datasheet view. i can open sdetail for selected records only
I have been tasked with creating a tool to analyse mobile phone bill data and present the analysis, and our recommendation, to a customers. Being new to Access (other than basic tuition) this has been a slow uphill task, which is finally nearing completion, however there is a problem which I have not yet been able to overcome.
The requirement is for the DB to open first on a splash screen (lets call it Form A) with fancy picture where our customer is selected from a combo box, the customer is then telephoned, a linked computer screen is established and our staff then click "Go" to proceed to a second form (Form B) showing an account overview and more details.
The problem I have is when "Go" is clicked, the second form loads via on click event, and even populates the correct customer in its combo box. Unfortunately that is as far as it gets - the combo does not look up the information. The customer needs to be selected again for the subforms and subreports to load with the customer overview. To clarify, form B just sits there blank until the customer is re-selcted from the combo box in form B.
My aim is to have my forms open to a new record, which I have done, but if my users need to then update or edit data in previous entries, they can click a button that allows this.
My thoughts were to add a button, then put in code so that the necessary properties changed the form from displaying a new record or records entered since opening it, to showing all records in the associated table....
As an example there is a table for purchase orders. When clicking on this from the main menu form, it opens up the purchase order form to create a brand new PO. At times though, we will need to revisit an order to attach a copy of an invoice, or update the cost of whatever was purchased.
My db has multiple linked tables. As time passes and work on a project continues data needs to be added to a separate table that is linked to the first table to be populated.
i.e., Initial design data is entered first, when drilling is complete more data is added to a linked table, when drilling is surveyed yet more data is added to the second table.
What I want to be able to do is to query for a particular set of existing design data, display this on a form and on the same line enable data entry to other fields from other tables which are linked to the existing design data.
I am new to Microsoft Access. I have built two entry forms for product release information. I have a drop box under the label customer for each specific customer. I would like for this form to send the data entered in the form to the customer specific table from the customer names in the drop box. I have tried to research and execute this myself thus have been very unsuccessful.
 Hi I have some 100 questions for which user must answer by selecting any of the options provided using option buttons.
As i cant fit all 100 qtns in one form am splitting it into soem 10 forms.
User answers the qtns in 1st form and clicks on next button to goto to nxt form thn agn he answers the qtns in tht form and clicks on next button to goto nxt form..so on.. until he answers all the qtns in the last form.
I want to transfer the answers selected from 1st form till the last one..where all the answers are stored in one table whn a submit button is clicked.
please let me kno ASAP if thr is anyway i can do it. thnk in advance
This has most definitely been asked before but I really cant find anything on the forum! Ive created a data entry form which has a save button which the user must click each time to save the record. However how do I refresh the form i.e. empty all data from the previous record without exiting the form. Ive tried to combine the undo macro but that simply deletes the previous record. Any help please!!!

I am new to access (2007), There is a datasheet in the form where we enter our time in/time out. We enter data using the form but that is one data at a time only. So I tried to paste multiple data (records) from excel into the access table. After pasting into the table, the data appears in the query, but not in the form. When I go to the form to check if the data I pasted into the table will appear in the form's datasheet...some data appears but some does not.
I am currently looking for a way to add data in a form with picture and then be able to view all entries with data.
Basically what I want to see is "product image > item number > client > description > material" with for example 500 entries, i want to be able to see a whole list of all entries. I would like to be able to make every entry as described above.
On the form: User enters first name, then last name. Upon updating the last name field, I would like another form to pop-up and display all the people with that same first name and last name that the user just entered.
On the pop-up form: All of the matching first names/last names are listed with a button control beside each record that says 'Select'. The user clicks the select button beside the record he/she wants. This pop-up form closes and all of the data from this selected record is now showing on the original form.
So far, I have a query/form that pops up only showing the matching first/last names. I'm having a hard time getting my original form to auto-populate with that record that the user selects on the pop-up.
(Also my main form is actually a sub-sub form - so in my trials I could've been massacring my syntax trying to point to it.)
I have been working on this for hours and I can't seem to find how to take the data I input into a form and have it appear in another table I had created earlier. I want to be able to pull the data up from either source and then edit it. I can put the chart into database mode but that isn't what I want to do. I want the data in a completely separate table.
Can I look up and verify data on a "second" form based on a selected record from first (still open) form.
I am trying to allow users to select a User Name from a combo box list and then open "Change Password" form when they select "Change Password" for that selected user name.
My problem is that I can't figure out how to associate and verify the data tied to the user name selected on the previous (Login) form ( I am trying to validate the old password tied to that selected record).
I have the first login form created, and it's working just fine. I also have the change password form created (and it's displaying the user name selected from the first form using:
Code: Private Sub Form_Load() With Forms![frmLogin]![cboUserName] Me.txtPwdChgUserID = .Column(2, .ListIndex) End With EndSub
I also have the code written to validate and confirm old password, new password and validate new password (when the save button is clicked). I have yet to update the password with the new password (still trying to figure that out).
Attached zip file has screen shots of the two forms.
I apologize if this has probably been asked countless times; however, in my search of this forum I could not find something that seemed to work for something so simple.
I have 2 forms. The first form is my main form and the second form is my "popup" form. Both of these forms access the same table. In my main form I have it so people can not enter in a ID so it reduces accidental data entry. Therefore, I created a "popup" box that allows ID entry.
Everything works great except when I close out of the popup form, the newly entered data is not available unless I close the main form and reopen.
Million Dollar Question:
How do I refresh or requery (dunno the correct term usage here) the main form to reflect the addition I made in my popup form. I would like the refresh event to happen when I click the close button on my popup form.
I have a main form[frmResearchNotes] with combo box controls that filters a query populating [subfrmNotelist] containing several records from the filtered query. From there, I double click on a field within one of the remaining records, [CompanyName] for example, and it opens the new form[frmNoteDetail]. The problem is that second form is not displaying that selected record. The second form's record source has been set to the same query so when it loads, it displays the same info but it's displaying the 1st record out of the entire filtered list, not the record I clicked on in that list.
I figured I could use the strWhere function to copy the record I selected in the event procedure and then open the new form with those details. Not sure how to actually do this with VBA or if it's even the correct approach.
I have a main form (tsTimeSheetMain) which contains a sub form (tsTimeSheetDataNewSub) in data sheet view. When I click off one row onto another row in the sub form, it triggers this code:
Forms!tsTimeSheetMain!ProjectMonSum.Requery
i.e. it tries to requery the ProjectMonSum field (on the main form) which is a dsum calculated field. This works fine and updates the ProjectMonSum field (which dsums values from the same datasource as the subform.
However, this seems to put the cursor back to the top left field in the subform (datasheet view), rather than leave it in the field I click on (in the subform).
Why is this happening and what is a decent workaround this issue? I just want to update the calculated dsum field each time you update values in the subform.
I have a bound form with a few fields. I would like to run a sub after some of these fields are modified, but not others. I would like it to run only once, after user finishes his work on the form.
When using the Unload event - the form on the form is not there anymore (or did I get something wrong?).
Is there a way to trap Data on form just before the form closes?
