hi i have a button that loads a report. If i then close the report the form, which is set with no border/no max/min/close/non movable and opens maximised, places itself off centre. I want it to stay maximised full screen. The only work around i currently have is when the use moves the mouse over the form it maximises itself. Will this then be calling this function everytime the mouse moves(cant be very efficient). is there a better way to maximise the form Immediately after closing the report.
I have an annoyance!!! I have a few reports in the access database that I'd like to hard code the print margins so that when I send any database updates to users that have different printers, the margins all come out the same. So that I don't have to then go to each computer I've updated the database on, to open each report and reset the correct print margins.
Another annoyance - along the same lines: A report that previews correctly several times and then - for no reason, previews with larger margins and, hence, data is lost off the right.
Thanks if anyone can offer a suggestion, I cannot find a similar problem described on the forum.
I have a form which runs at startup maximised. Pop-up and Modal are set to 'NO', Auto Resize and Center are also set to 'NO', Border style has been set to various settings, and Moveable has also been tried at 'YES' and 'NO'.
A command button on this form opens another form with the same settings which I want to take the original form's 'place' in the application window.
This all works fine, just that when I close the second window (using DoCmd.Close), the original window is then no longer maximised underneath it. I want to make sure certain windows are maximised at all times.
I know I could hack this with a DoCmd.Maximise somewhere, (or by switiching to full Pop-up/Modal mode and hiding the Application window) but the results of these are all a bit of a hack.
Can anyone shed light on the mysteries of Access's default form maximisation behaviour?
Or does anyone do what I have described successfully?
I am working a database that manages student's Records including marks for various subjects, but i would like to do the following on each of the students' report cards:
a) Display the marks for all the 12 subjects .This one i have done.
b) Display a total for all marks of each student.Done as well.
c) The problem is, i don't know how to display the position of each student on the individual report cards.I want to base this grading on the total marks obtained by each student in the same class.
I have a report that displays incidents, their details, consequences and a photo. Among the details is a severity rating high medium or low, I have been asked to make the report shorten the records which have been given a low severity (because it takes up as much space as the more important/severe ones).
The only method I can think of is to use the onformat event, to shrink and make invisible all the fields that I don't want to see if the severity field shows 'low'.
I have a Logo which is actually startup form. I need a code to position this statrup form on near to bottom right corner of access window in all resolution. How ever at present I am using code :
Res = GetScreenResolution()
If Res = "800x600" Then DoCmd.MoveSize 9600, 5600 ElseIf Res = "1024x768" Then DoCmd.MoveSize 13000, 8000 ElseIf Res = "1152x864" Then DoCmd.MoveSize 14500, 9500 ElseIf Res = "1280x720" Then DoCmd.MoveSize 16200, 7200 ElseIf Res = "1280x768" Then DoCmd.MoveSize 16200, 7800 ElseIf Res = "1280x1024" Then DoCmd.MoveSize 16200, 11400
End If
But some times user use the application on different resulotion other then mentioned in code, the position of startup form looks awkward.
how to make my form controls change size / position as my form is resized / loaded on a computer with a different resolution. Several of the tutorials out there suggest putting code on the "on resize" property of the form. When I looked at the Northwind database to try to mimic their code however, it looks like they must be doing something different as there is no on resize code under the form properties and I was unable to find the code they do use.
I want when the form ativate to reput it in the center of the screen. is there any property to do this in the code, as the autocenter is set only in the design view
I'm trying to ensure that each time a new record is opened in a form, that the cursor is positioned in the first control/field... I have this throughout most of my application but not in a few individual forms.
I know I've done something in the past to ensure that this happens, but I can't remember what it was...
I am having a problem with my form. When it opens up, it is maximized, which is what I want. However, the vertical scroll bar on the right does not begin at the top of the form, but towards the bottom. I have to scroll up each time so that I can see the top of my form. Is there a way to make the form startup at the top of the form?
I have been trying to make forms open scrolled to the top and have had very little success.
I found a function on the following site http://www.lebans.com/SelectRow.htm that works great as demonstrated and when I attach the following code to a text box the form scrolls to the top.
Private Sub Text98_Click() Dim lngret As Long lngret = fSetScrollBarPos(Me, 1) DoEvents End Sub
What I am trying to do is have the form scroll when it opens but by attaching the above code to the form's on_open event there is no effect.
I have a form in datasheet view, with the record ID column frozen and users typically scroll to the right to see certain columns. Different users scroll to a different position.
I dont have the option to reduce the number of columns or create separate forms for different users, - they all need to see all the columns but typically a user scrolls horizontally to see a certain set of columns most of the time. I want to save that position for the next time they open the form.
I have been given a set of pricing tables in Excel that, based on the type of work done, show a dollar amount for time ranges. In other words, if WorkType = A, the appropriate pricing table is referenced and the amount of time in minutes is found within ranges ("0 - .3333", ".3333 - .6500", etc) shown in hour decimals (.3333 = 20 minutes), then an associated dollar amount is reported back. (I know... very awkward, but not my choice). The time ranges are not consistent in size either within a particular pricing table nor across tables. The person using these tables is doing this manually now.
What I need to be able to do is enter the WorkType and duration, and get the dollar amount from the table, even though the duration is not going to exactly match the value in the table. In Excel's VLOOKUP, you can put in amounts that not exact, and the function finds the highest value less than your entry. Can Access do that? I tried reading up on DLOOKUP, but I don't think that is what I need (or maybe I just don't understand it). I'm not sure of an efficient table setup or how to get the correct output.
Is there a way to change the vertical scroll bar position to always be at the top when I move from form to form. Right now, it will start at the top, but when I move to a different form and back, the vertical scroll bar is positioned in the center. I turned off the autocenter property of the form and saved it in the desired position, but that doesn't work. My form is maximized when it opens. I would greatly appreciate some help. This has been an annoyance for quite some time now.
I've created several Split forms that have the data input fields in the form with the relevant query datasheet shown below. As you tab through the form fields, the various cells in the datasheet are highlighted and move across the data row (as one would expect!). I want to put a particular field / Column at the start of the datasheet so that it's always available for view, but it seeme that what ever I do the column ends up back at the very far end of the data row!
I've sussed out the "Freeze Fields" facility which will keep the first column visable whichever cell is highlighted across the data row.
The column I want as the first column currently sits at the far end of the data row. So far I have dragged the row to the first column position; I've arranged the Query driving the form so that the column is at the front of the row, both in design view and in datasheet view, but to no avail. Everything I do to put the column at the start of the row in the datasheet shown below the form ends up with it back at the far end of the row the next time I open the form.
On main form cursor working is goods as per default. But after come to in Subform its shown the cursor position in the last filed. So every new record is shown as the same last field. How to do this cursor position will be change in subform as per default?? and every new record its need to show as per default TabIndex "0".
I have checked my Tab Index & Order Settings also it is good. But its shown as last filed in subform
I am a newbie to ms access and forms and I have a small problem with a form. The solution has lots of different forms with different tabs for each section. This particular tab has a few sub forms in it. When I switch into the specific tab in question, the screen moves down ever so slightly and I always have to scroll up to see all the other tab headings. Is there a way to do something by code or a property setting I can use to make the page start from the top without users having to scroll up each time?
I hope I have explained myself clearly enough, if not I will be more than happy to provide more info.
Hi allive just been asked this by a co worker on a remote sitethey have a client name they want to input to a table in Access 2000in a surname field which is just a txt fieldthe name to be input is 'comming'when they tab to the next field access changes it to 'coming'i tried it this end in a new database and it does tha same thing ..and in Acc 97any thoughts ...or a fix? Thanks
I have built a table with a field name of Birth date and have applied an input mask to have the data shown as: ##/##/##. Now, I would like to have another field labeled age. Is there a formula that I can create to have access calculate this in my table? I have tried "=mydate()-"Date Of Birth"" in the validation rule under the properties of the Age field; however, I keep getting an error. Any suggestions?
Hello, I have split a database useing the database spliter wizard. But I still have network speed problems. What I am wondering is if anyone knows if useing an ODBC connection between the front and back ends is more efficient than file sharing across the network? Thanks for any information on this Tim
i was working with a database and accidently deleted the first row, i couldnt get the automatic number to number another row 1, so i took out this table and created another one. however even though my new record is in order, when i pull this through to the website it's coming in the order 1,3,4,5,6,2... and the coding for the page worked fine with the db beforehand!!! so now i'm a bit lost
I have an Inventory DB Table called [EngData] that has a subform table called [Inventory]. I have in the subform a calculated text box that Sums three columns, StockQtyMade, StockQtySold and StockQtyShrink. This works perfectly.
On the Main form I have a calculated text box that references the subform calculated field. This also displays correct info.
On another Form I wanted other users to see the total stock on hand by using a calculated field called PullTotalQty. This is set by using DSum(...). The only problem is that the DSum(...) keeps giving totals that are not accurate. Sometimes the quantity is a few pieces less then the correct amount and in other cases the qty is many times what it should be.
Whatever the amount in error it is consistent each time a particular record is displayed. I have tried many things to get this to work but nothing has fixed the issue. I have also tried changing the query and nothing works. Changing the query and using the [Inventory] table in the DSum domain gives a different wrong quantity.
Here is the code: I reduced the code down to one column to be summed (StockQtyMade) just to see if I could get that working first. I will add the other two columns later. for testing purposes I am only looking at the StockQtyMade amounts.
SELECT Inventory.TransactionID, Inventory.PartID, Inventory.PrintNo, Inventory.StockRev, Inventory.StockQtySold, Inventory.StockQtyMade, Inventory.StockQtyShrink, Inventory.StockQtyXIncomplete, Inventory.StockLoc, Inventory.TransactionDescription FROM Inventory WHERE (((Inventory.TransactionDescription)<>"xNextOP")) ORDER BY Inventory.TransactionID DESC;
I currently have a button with a checkbox on top (z-axis wise). This works exactly like I want, except that whenever the button is clicked or focused, it gets brought to the top and hides the checkbox. The only idea I've been able to come up with is maybe making the button completely transparent, with an image of a button behind it.
But in my access database I have a SQL code in which excel sheet opens automatically with required data. Now problem is one column in the excel sheet since this morning is showing up in Chinese instead of English. I don't know what to do.
