Dec 21, 2014Now I have "tbl_organs" with three columns "organNameLatin" and "organNameArabic" as body organs names in latin and its arabic translation,and "bodySystem" which contains body sestems "digestive, respiratory..." in Latin only, and "frm_visit" as a form for recording visit data, I added unbound combo box "cbo_organ" with raw source "tbl_organs", I addedd two command buttons "cmd_En" and "cmd_Ar" to convert the combo box value from english to arabic, I mean cmd_En for showing combo box with two columns "organNameLatin" and "bodySystem",for cmd_Ar will show "bodySystem" and "organNameArabic" , the value of "cbo_organ" then used with another field for populating a txt box, i used this code for onClick event for "cmd_En" :
Me. cbo_Organ = "select distinct bodySystem, organLatinName" & _
"from tbl_organs " & _
" order by bodySystem;"
And for cmd_Ar :
Me. cbo_Organ = "select distinct bodySystem, organArabicName" & _
"from tbl_organs " & _
" order by bodySystem;"
By pressing cmd_En nothing changes and combo box still showing three columns, also the final result is populating bodySystem in final txt box instead of organ name, I dont know if properties of combo box "cbo_organs" like column count and row source have effect on this or not, and if I should determine row source of combo box from the beginning or not ? NB: bodySystem is in one language only which is Latin, the form is unbound, combo and final txt box are unbound.

My language is set to english.
So when I enter a date it looks like 31-12-05
Other users of my program use german.
So there dates look like 31.12.05
I convert my dates to string.
So its important the dates look like 31-12-05

I have searched this forum but it's almost impossible to get what I am looking for...
I've designed a database that gets modified and upgraded daily. The problem I have is that the Form I use to enter data should be available in 3 languages. All I want to know is: Is there some or other way I can have 1 Form and still have 3 different languages? EVERYTHING should be changeable into the other language... any ideas?
At the moment I have 1 set of Tables, 1 set of Queries and 3 sets of Forms (for the 3 languages). I'd like to change it to 1 set of Forms, but still have all 3 languages.
Please help!?

Multi Language Iem Descriptions
Nov 7, 2005I have a table of some 8000 items with a verbose (memo field) description in English. I need to add French and Spanish Item descriptions to some of the items ( but not all of them) and call up the correct description when processing orders and/or invoices. I want the system to automatically supply the english text if the French/Spanish does not exist.
I could go for the easy option of adding a language field to the table, and then simply replicating all 8000 items for french and Spanish and then replace the English text. This would work but probably affect performance.
What I really want is to add foreign descriptions to the table ( as a new item record) as and when they are required, and look for, say, a French Item Description, and if one is there. then use it, else find the fallback English descriptions. Trouble is, I have had no success trying to craft the tables/queries to do this.
I've played with group-by queries to deliver a language code, but run into difficulties with grouping memo fields. Any help or pointers would be much appreciated - I've searched the forum for "multi lingual" and "multi language" with no success, but my apologies if I'm asking an old question.

I have a database which contains fields with information in many different languages. I seem to lose my japanese content from time to time.
I cut and paste the information from a Word document and paste it into an Access field. It seem to work and I get the japanese text pasted. But I have lost it and now I just have all text replaced by small squares. How can I retrieve my japanese text?? What should I be looking for if I want to maintain a database in MS Access using Japanese, Chinese and other foreign language text in it?

To supplement this flat list I'm preparing a number of key stats which will be reported to administrators (e.g. unique user/session count by period, app usage by period etc).
I'm now looking to report the (10?) most active users where most active means those users having the most unique sessions. The desired results are as follows:
User Sessions

paul 10
chris 5
jim 2
... ...
Within Access its relatively easy to create/combine a number of queries to acheive this but I need to do this via an ASP script. The challenge is to design a single SQL statement (with nested SQL?) which will return a recordset as above.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Why Does Access Randomly Display Data In A Foreign Language
Jun 10, 2014I noticed that when I made a few changes to one of my queries, the results in my data sheet view were in some sort of Asian looking language. See below. Why is it doing this? I've only been using English with this program and have not changed any of my settings so I'm very confused. Also the other fields are in English. This one field is the only one I'm having issues with.

can i keyin the tamil words in the 'tamil' column of a table if yes how please?

Queries :: Unable To Convert Text Into Date With Different System Language Settings In MS Access
Jun 6, 2013I have a table in access database which contains a text field 'EDate' that stores Date value in format (12-Apr-2013). Now I want to run a sql query on that field. User will give an input date. The sql query needs to fetch me all the records from access database whose Edate is less than or equal to the user input date.
I am using DateValue function to convert my text filed Edate into date. My query is something like this:
select * from table_name where DateValue(EDate)<='user_input_date'
I am able to perform above task if the system language settings are 'English'. But if system language settings are different say Turkish, then the query fails.
I searched a lot on web and found that DateTime function compares test data with the system date time format and gives the result. Thus it fails with different language settings.
Forms :: Copying Command Button Appearance Properties To Other Command Buttons
Dec 17, 2013I am rewriting an old Access 2003 database in Access 2010. When creating new command buttons, the current theme gives them a default appearance. I need to apply this appearance to old command buttons. I know there is a way to select the default button and apply its properties to others quickly. I have done it before but didn't write the process down .

im designing a database for videoshop for loans in access. i have got my movies and loans tables (along with others) and have got them as a one to many (loans to movies) and have got Rental ID as Primary key in Loans table and got that linked to Rental ID# in movies table.

Command Button To Set Value
Apr 20, 2006I have been working on this for awhile, and can't figure it out for the life of me!
I have a form set up with a drop down box that lets me pick from values from a table based off of the Primary Key of that table (Row Source = SELECT Order.OrderID, Order.OrderName from Order). I have a button on the form that I want to set a value (Closed) from the table entry based off of the order selected.
Pseudo code would go something like this.
Closed.Value = True Where Table.Order.OrderID = SelectedOrderID
Table.Order is a Table Named Order (obviously)
Closed is a yes/no field in my Order table
OrderID is the primarykey of the table Order
SelectedOrderID is the drop down box.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Apr 26, 2005I, unfortunately, have been singled out as the Access guru in my work area. We have 223 people and the Information Manager has tasked me to modify a database he "found" to be able to track a number of things, but most important to him: performance reports.
I have posted the sample of what I currently have. What is being asked of me is a way in which to have a button or by double-clicking a block where a date would go for all other dates on the form to become non-visible while the current date stored in the computer the database is being worked from be entered in the block where the button or double-click happened. All this links to a report for the IM to be able to track what performace reports are out, and when they are due back to his section. He also wants me to be able to show which are overdue and where they are at. I am not sure if it is at all possible, but with me having spend most of last week purusing the articles on Access here, I know now that nothing is implausible if you happen to go about it the right way.
Since I have read the rules on posting, here is what I have done. I searched the forum for command button and got a lot of really cool ideas to use elsewhere in the database. I looked up the help in the program itself for command button, and got some good information on how a command button works, but I cannot make it put a date into a block. I can enter the date in any block that is a date format, but then I have dates in every block. He only wants to see the most current date in any of the blocks.
Any assistance at this point would be appreciated. If I have missed something in another thread, I apologise in advance.

May 25, 2005A couple of weeks ago I asked the question of how to send a single record from one table to another (Archive table) using a command button. I got a response. I have had time to work with this a little. My problem is I keep getting a error message "Run-time error '3075'; Syntax error (missing operator) in Query expression "[New ID]='. I wanted to mention that the archive table has an "archive ID" field as well as "New ID" that links the tables. I have the following code. Please help with this if possible.

The error seems to refer to the & Me.ID section. I have tried putting Me.New ID and also Me.Archive ID. The Grants Activity Archives is the subform where I want the record to go. This subform is set up like a form with many fields so it is a lot of work to type the main record from the Grants table to the Grants Activity Archive table every time you want to archive a record. I hope that makes sense.
Find Command
Mar 7, 2006I have a find command button that appears to call the find and replace message box. It should be a search for anything in my query. The code behind the button looks like the find and replace message box in the office suite. I believe I am trying to create a message box where you add an entry and it searches then lauches a subform with my entries.
When I checked the button it had the following code:
