I just started doing something in access and need your help.
I have created a database and need to create a query which will sort all important fields within a certain time period. I have a date field and in the criteria field I wrote an expression:">Forms![Insert_date_form]![starting_date_field] and < Forms![insert_date_form]![ending_date_field]"
Its purpose is to show all fields which date is between this to dates. User will have to enter this dates in a separate form(Insert_date_form) which will store it in a small database containing only these two fields, e.g. generate report of all employees that are started working within a period between starting_date and a ending date. When I try to create and open a report based on this query I've been prompted with a small dialog which says: Enter parameter value.... for starting_date_field and same for ending_date_field. I don't need that. These dates are allready entered by user in a insert_date form and stored in its databese.
Is there a beter way to do this?

I have run into some problems by comparing two lists. My project is to compare two lists and on the below listed criteria's and with the wanted results.
Criteria's: 1. Part 2. Colour 3. pcs.
Wanted results: 1. Equal match (same part, Colour and pcs (pcs difference above and equal 0) 2. Equal match (same part, colour but missing pcs. (pcs difference below 0) 3. Missing parts (difference in org. list - 1 and 2 query)
But already in the first part I run into problems. I do a query as below. (picture attached)

This query is returning 2 of the same lines with part and colour but with different pcs. Why.?
In my database, I use TextStream.ReadLine to read a .txt file line by line and store pertinent parts of each line into specific fields in a table. One of these fields is called "Remarks", which is basically a descriptive paragraph of text explaining a task. Everything works great so far.
However, my leadership would like a condensed version of the "Remarks" field. The only way to really do this right now is for someone to manually read each "Remarks" field and create their own like condensed version of it. Let me give you an example...
Remarks: "Conduct Project Delta tests in association with IBS/SCADA systems and CIKR (Critical Infrastructure/Key Resource) cyberspace terrain, develop CPT certification processes and checklist."
Condensed Version: "Project Delta for IBS/SCADA and CIKR"
I've played with using Select Case to automatically create a condensed version of the Remarks field:

However, this is too much VBA maintenance for each different thing that needs condensed. If a new tasking comes out, then I'll have to go into VBA and custom create a new Case for it. Multiply that by 10-20x each week.
Instead, I would like a form where my users can specify the criteria themselves. The Remarks field would be compared against the criteria to create a new condensed version of the Remarks field. I'm not sure how to go about this though. What I'm envisioning is this...
So each Remarks string would get compared against each criteria. If the Remarks string contains the words "SCADA" and "Project Delta", then the condensed version would be "Project Delta for IBS/SCADA and CIKR". If the Remarks string contains "OPSEC Assessment" then the condensed version would be "OPSEC Assessment". In the pic above, the form is based of another table that contains those fields in the form. I'm not sure if this is the most efficient method for my goal or not. Either way, I don't know how I would compare the Remarks string to records in this new table in order to create a condensed version.
I have a database with a pre-surgery field and a post-surgery field. The use must enter the current procedure in the pre-field and then the actual surgery in the post field. I need to check to see if the fields match verbatim. The field is a memo field.
The users know how to copy and paste from the pre to the post fields. 90% of the time it is the same but not always.
I am trying to compare two different fields in the same query and return the most recent date in some another field. Would I be able to do this and if so how?
Hello, I have 2 fields that are supposed to have the same information for each record. I got the information from different sources, which is the reason for having 2 fields. I wanted to make sure that the information was accurate. Turns out, that some of it isn't accurate--all the fields don't match.
As you can see, the ISSN numbers for Title 1 and 3 match. There's no problem there. I want a query that would list all those like Title 2, where the ISSN numbers don't match. Then I'd have a list of all of the problem Titles, and I could look up the real ISSN numbers.
The two tables are joined together by a primary and foreign key in the query, . I have not added the actual tables below , as data is senitive - i'm using an example. This join is made using the graphic relationship between the tables.

Initially the pseudo code i'm trying to get to work is;
if table_1.mode = 6 and table_2.type = 06 , then "MATCH" , else "NO_MATCH"

However this calculated field returns incorrect results, i.e. the query returns MATCH for rows that do not match , e.g. mode=6 and type=GL , Previously , when it was returning #Error when trying to match mode=6 and type=GL when it should ideally return "NO_MATCH", which is why I added Isnumeric.
Once I have sorted this out, I would like to achieve this as the calculated field
if table_1.mode = 6 and table_2.type = 06 , then "MATCH" , else "NO_MATCH" or if table_1.mode = 4 and table_2.type = 04 , then "MATCH" , else "NO_MATCH
It has been a while since I last used Access, recently I've used mySQL and PHP.
First a little description of what I'm trying to accomplish: I have three tables...
tblImport - has the fields: TestID(PK), i001, i002, i003, i004 ... i025 Note: i00# field contains the multiple choice answer (i.e. 1,2,3,4,5) as imported from a CSV file.
tblStudentAsr - has the fields TestID(PK), StudentID(PK), 001, 002, 003 ... 025. Note: 00# containes the multiple choice answer (i.e. 1,2,3,4,5) as enterd by the student.
tblResult - TestID(PK), StudentID(PK), a001,a002, a003 ... a025. Note: the fields a00# have the datatype set to "yes/no"
What I'm trying to do is compare the answers in tblImport to the answers in tblStudentAsr then output the result to tblResult .
Here is some dirty pseudocode: if i001 = 001 then INSERT 1 INTO tblResult else INSERT 0 INTO tblResult
The above example gets a little repetitive since I would have to do that for each question. Is it possible to put the answer fields of each table into a recordset then compare them? (I have heard that using rs's can be a little slow. Although there is only a max of 25 questions the number of students can be quite large)
Alternativly, can I accomplish this using only SQL statements?
What would be the best way to attack this?
Any suggestions (or alternate suggestions) would be greatly appreciated.

I have a form control with the input mask on it for a phone number. I am using an append query to append the information entered in the form to a table. I need to pull two fields from a linked table from another database. What I need to do is be able to compare the entered phone number in the form with the phone number from the table. The problem I am running into is that it won't match the phone numbers. The same mask is used in the table I am pulling from. Why can I not just put =[Table].[Phone_No] in the Criteria of the field where the number from the form is placed so that I can get the right record from the linked table?
I have two fields in a table that have multiple values. Example:
Field A:
CT, CA, PA
Field B:
CT, CA
I want to compare the two fields and indicate that there is a match because in this example CT and CA are in both fields. I would like to create a function. I'm not sure if I would have to use something with like or create a loop.
I am trying to calculate a value based on comparing the current date to the dates in these fields. I am using the below formula. However, using 6/27/2013 as the current date, my formula keeps resulting in "Bronze" when it should result in "Standard" Am I doing something wrong?

This may be a little difficult to explain but here goes:
I have a table in access 97 with the field Account. An account name is usually written as 0000000_A, but it MAY also have a secondary account and is usually written with the same first series of digits but ends in B e.g. 0000000_B. Therefore, we could have an account 0023654_A and 0023654_B.
Now for each account name there is another field called Items which are chosen from a combo box on a form (item 1, item 2, item 3, item 4, item 5, item 6, item 7 and item 8). An account may have more than one item.
Now if account B exists then it MUST contain the same entries as account A but can also have additional items. So we could have a situation where:
Now what I am trying to implement is that if the core items (these are those that are contained in both - which would be item 1, item 2, item 3 and item 4 in the above example) are changed in either accounts making them not equal then a warning message should come up stating so. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT THE CORE ITEMS ARE PRESENT IN BOTH.
I have some experience in Access 97, but unsure of how to tackle this. Could somebody please guide me ???
I have a table [VL] with four fields, [vl_id], [product], [vl_date], [valeur_liquidative].
The idea of the table is that you can input and update the value of each product on a given day.
I need to find the difference in days between successive dates (vl_date) each time that a product value (valeur_liquidative) is updated. Values aren't updated everyday as it is not updated during the weekends. I have had a go at this but have struggled..

I have a table that has a date field set to text. I use the Mid function and get just the month in a query. I have a textbox on a form that when the user adds a month or removes a month from a selected listbox it adds or removes that months number from the textbox.
I want to us that text box on the form as the criteria for the month (the Mid function getting the month) and I can seem to get it to read what's in the textbox and use it as the criteria. I can manually type in a number and it works fine.
I want to make a query that results in displaying records that have the same IP-address where the difference in the date/time stamp is within 1 minute. When the date/time stamp is > 1 minute the record can be deleted from the table.
I have a table to store "issues" with fields Issue name(text), target date(date) and status (combo box-active & pending statuses). default status for new issue is active. when clicking a button i want to change the status of every record to "pending" status (combo box value should be pending) if the target date<current date.
I have main form and that has one sub-form , this Main form governs/determines the data in the sub form.
This Sub form ( DataSheet Mode) has approximately 130 columns and based on the Main form criteria only ~ 20 columns has to be filled.
What I want to do is based on the main forms criteria I want to show only the columns that are applicable to main form criteria.
If I use Columnar or Tabular single form for the Sub Form I am able to hide the fields that are not required BUT IT LEAVES A SPACE/GAP on form ( for the hidden fields that are not required)

I am building a database to track contract of employees so that I can know which contracts are valid and which are expired.
My table has the following fields:
ID (Primary key) Employee ID (Foreign key to link to the employee table) Start_Date End_Date Status (Either valid or expired) Challenge
I want when I enter the end date, the system checks the end date against the current date and fills in the status field with either valid or expired as appropriate. For instance if the contract end date is March 10,2016, the status must be filled in the word valid.
I am trying to compare a value in my databse produced by the date() function, short date format, to one that is exactly 24 hours after the value recorded by the date() function. If the value in the database is 24 hours prior to the current date(), I need to flag a text box a diffrent color to alert the user. I am unsure on the If statement that I will need to produce this result.
