I have been downloading .csv files from a construction website that we use to following projects as they develop. I import the file into Excel and then want to bring it into my database. The issue is with two fields I have that are numeric, however, when downloaded into Excel, the information in the two fields now have an (')added to the beginning and end of the string, i.e. and the second field has an (') and (-) to the data.

The second field is a zipcode field that comes in like this:
'14063-1127'
'14222-1004'
I would like to design a query to strip the ' from each field as well as the (-) in the zipcode field.If I have to write 2 separate queries that is fine.
I would like to know how to limit a field on a form to only Alpha Numeric characters.
Example: ~AAUZNTO
This would be scanned by a bar code and I want the field to show only this when scanned: AAUZNTO
I need some kind of function (I been told) that generates 3 different alphanumeric autonumbers in the same field when adding a new record, starting such field from A-1, B-1 and C-1 to infinite.Because the record gets inserted in the table with an append query and not manually through a form, I believe the function should be placed in the Default Value setting of the field.

I need to run a query so that all of the acct numbers are 8 characters long with zeros as placeholders in front of the actual acct numbers, ie:

I have a table with locations identified by latitude and longitude.
I have separate fields for degrees minutes seconds and decimal degrees.
For example, 50 degrees 30 minutes 0 seconds is also stored as
50.5 degrees. I have a radial search query that finds all targets
within a given distance from a location. The three fields input by the
user are latitude, longitude and distance. The problem is the query
only works with decimal degrees. I want the user to be able to
input in a format like "50 30 0". How do I convert a character string
with non-numeric characters to a numeric string?
I have created a new simple db in Access 2007.
In the Reports, when I go to print preview or even print it none of the numeric characters are displayed.
It does not seem to matter if the character is in a numeric field or a text field and only seems to be characters 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9.
In the fields with a negative value the - sign is dispayed!
I have checked and appears to be only Access this is occurring with (Excel seems fine).
I have checked another database and it happens there as well.

I am trying to create a custom input mask using both text and numeric characters for a form.
Example would me ABCD-12345678. However the first 4 letters would would need to be able to change.

How to count the number of times that the data appears in a certain field (which is [Ema!l]). I have a list of ema!l addresses and I want to find out whether that ema!l address has appeared once, twice or more. I want to add this as a field in a query. I don't want to delete it or anything because it's perfectly fine for the ema!l address to appear more than once, I just want to be able to identify when the ema!l address has already appeared.
If I was using Excel I would use a Countif function to count how many times the data in the specified cell appears in the whole column, and that would give me the number. I'm not use to the language of Access so I can't figure out how to achieve this.
I tried adding a Total row to the grid in the query and then changing the total to 'count' but this just returned 1 for every row.
The field SECL DDI has the users phone number unfortunately over time these have been entered in different formats so there are 5 digits, 6 digits, 7 digits etc...Can I run a query that counts the number of digits in each filed and then tell me how many of each exist

Any one know how to do real-time counting of the number of characters in a text box so that once it reaches 3 it automatically moves to the next text box? (Doing a phone number ... area code (int) and phone (long) to make for a total of 6 bytes.)
I've tried several versions of code for the on-change event but I can't seem to find the right way to assess the number of characters currently in the control... I'm pensive about setting an invisible control to just 'count up' because the on-change event would stack it even with a deletion. See most recent attempt below...

I have tried to use a bit of code so return the Last Year and WeekNo in my database, to select some records but�. It currently fails, I think this because it returns the values as text and will then not compare to a numeric field. Is there an easy way to change this code so it returns numbers.

How do you search for any number of numeric characters using wildcards? The # symbol only searches for 1, and * obviously includes letters.

I Have Created A Client Reference Allocation Screen Which Makes The Clients Reference From Details In A Number Of Text Boxes.

I have an address database where people have been allowed to type in any characters they want in place of just leaving a missing field blank. For instance the Zip code was not a required field (don't as me why because I don't know. It just wasn't) so over the years when the person entering the data didn't know what the zip code was they would put a ?, a 0, a 000 or a period or what ever else they could think of at the time.
I would like to add a filter in my query where I could eliminate any thing with less then a certain amount of characters.
I thought something like this would do the trick
Zip: IIf(Len([V_ZIP]<5),[V_ZIP],"0")
But I am getting a data type mismatch in criteria expression. Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?
I have a numeric field (long integer) in a table. I've set the format to fixed. No matter what I set the decimal places to, auto, 0 or 2, when I enter a value of 0.71, it displays as 1.00
In my form, I've also set the field property to fixed, but it displays the value as 1.
I would like to make a join between two field in 2 different tables:
1.) Table with number field for Purchase Order number
2.) Table with text field for customers PO ref (where normally above PO number is entered)
When I link the both I get an error/warning message that the "types in the expression don't match"
Can anyone help me to overcome this problem ??
