Create A Database That Keeps Track Of Deficiencies In Various Logs And Reviews Of Logs
Sep 11, 2015
I am trying to create a database that keeps track of deficiencies in various logs and reviews of the logs. Each log is required to be reviewed by two individuals (determined by their title) everyday. I am trying to make the review table populate with a required review daily and then when the supervisor does his review he will update a checkbox to indicate that the review is complete. I would then query and update the calendar for which supervisors are still required to perform log reviews.

I have a database that has a main form, and from that main form there are buttons that open their respected forms. I am curious as to how I control the size of all of my forms. They are all pop-ups at the moment. It all works fine on my monitor, but when opened on a smaller monitor it is too big and I can't even see the bottom of the screen. The main form is set to open automatically after the user logs into the database and it opens to fit the screen. also, all of my forms are modals.

Not sure if this is the right place to post - if not please move.
I am creating a database for my college project and I would like to create a log to record when people log in an create a record. This is for audit trails and for a system to present the user with any newly added records since their last log in.
I dont know if there is a really easy way to do this, so please post if there is, and dont ridicule me too much :P
I was thinking of having a table to store all the logs (one for each type of log - e.g: Log in and adding new records)
Taking logging in as an example, the user types in the username and pasword, when they click log in, the button will send the username and a time stamp to the table and add it into a new field.
Then when the user who has access to the logs wishes to view them, then run a query and select the date they wish to view, then all the records in the table will be displayed.
Please add any helpful comments to that theory, thanks :)

I have made a basic form and use it a log on screen. This requires the user to in put a user name and a password before gaining access to the main database.
The background to the form is a table where the users details are entered including the i enter the user name and password.
Is there any way to add a counter that is only visible in the table, so I can report on the different users.

Hi guys,
Im fairly new to MS Access and have recently created a simple database to track the details of people in my department.
The database is on a shared drive and the idea was that when the details of the individual change, they open the database themselves and edit the appropiate field.
However, is it possible to track the changes that people make over a certain period (ie every month).
Thanking you in advance,
Jonny

Is it possible or not but Iany way to set up a number field to autonumber on reviews of an application.
To elaborate I have a review table linked to the primary application table. The pk on the review table will be an actual autonumber to list all the reviews ever to happen in the database. There will be multiple reviews on one application and there will be a review number for each review (1, 2, 3, etc...). Is it possible to set up as a 'number' field that will add the next review # for that particular application, and then start again at 1 for the next application?

I am new in Access 2010 and need table design schema. I am creating a database to track budget changes within our organizations.
1. We have 3 division (West, East and Central).
2. Each division will have 5 Organizations (Office, Campus, Operations, IT and HR)
3. Each Organizations will have multiple sub-organizations
4. The budget start with the sub-organizations - which is break down by cost center and sub cost center.
This is the design I came up.
tblFiscalYear
tblDivision
tblOrganizations
tblSubOrganizations
tblCostCenter
tblsubcostcenter (budget table)
tblDivision --1 to Many --> tblOrganizations
tblOrganizations --1 to Many --> tblsuborganizations
tblsuborganizations --1 to many --> tblCostCenter
tblCostCenter --1 to many --> tblsubcostcenter
Is there a better way to design this?

I have been using Excel to keep a daily track of when people are in to work, but the number of persons employed has increased and it is taking too much time to manually input data into the sheet.
I am looking at Access and I would like to know if what I want is possible.
The fields I would need are , Name , Date , Time worked(1 for a full day and 0.5 for a half) , Reason worked, and funded by(inside/outside organization)
I would like to make a template of form that has the following options.
1. The ability to select a date (possibly through a calendar selection)
2. Select one or multiple different persons from a list
3. Possibly two check boxes (full/half day) - that when selected input a 1 or 0.5 into the database
4. A text entry for reason worked.
5. Another check box for inside/outside funding that reflects the time worked in step 3 and that can be queried to see how many total days funding was given.

Trying to modify this calendar database to track employee leave. I need the calendar form (frmCalendar) to show all employee leave on the calendar using the "Show All" command button on click event. This works if I specify a uID (UserID from employee table) in the code, but only for that specific employee. I need all employees at the same time up on the calendar so I can see if there is more than one employee off on any given day.
Events or leave is populated on the form through "Private Sub DisplayEvents" and the mdlCalendar module.

I'm developing a database that tracks monthly metrics of employees. These employee are at several different locations.
Here's what I would like:
A table of the employees and their location.
A table of the metrics.
A form that you can select an employee and it would autofill the location and then you could fill out the metrics.
the ability to change an employee's location without it effecting past records.
A report, by month and location of the employee's metrics. (pretty sure I can do this on my own, just can't get to this point.)
I've tried to use a auto lookup query but that then changes the employees location on past records.

I am attempting to develop a DB to track hardware assets, e.g., servers, switches, storage devices, etc... I am at the very beginning of the development/design process. I haven't gone beyond the paper stage yet. I am trying to figure out how I would set up the main Asset table so that when I put in a particular vendor, the model field will list models only for that specific vendor. i.e., when I put in IBM in the Vendor field I will only see IBM models in a drop down for the Vendor_Model field.
I'm pretty sure this will involve a Lookup field. But, how do I restrict the lookup of models. Would that be with a query?

I can use barcode scanning to track items through the process, on the condition that the relevant field on a form is highlighted.
The issue is I want the scanning/tracking with wireless scanners to be going on in the background while an operator can use the other functions of the database.
I'm thinking the solution is two computers, one to run the barcode scanning & tracking the other for the rest of the database functions. The problem is we only have one work PC and getting money for a new PC will be like pulling teeth.
Is there a one PC solution?

I run a soccer league where we track players attendance for each game. I currently do it on a spreadsheet where each game date is a column and each player is a row. We also track which team they play on at each game (they can play on different teams different weeks). I currently have a second tab in the spreadsheet to record which team a person plays on each week.
Setting up a table of fields for this is relatively easy. The problem comes to data entry. I want to be able to visually see the data like I can in a spreadsheet (names in rows, dates in columns, intersections containing either team name or whether attended) and whilst a cross-tab query gives me the layout, I cannot input data in a cross-tab query.

I am creating a database that tracks current projects for my team at work.
Some projects are only due once (e.g., mailed brochures due on 1/1/14) and some are due at scheduled intervals (e.g., status report due monthly, quarterly, etc.)
Ultimately, I'm hoping that my end result will allow us to click on a form and look at what everybody has due that day, in the next 7 days, and so forth.

I created a database with forms, querys, etc. Now I was thinking of creating a exe so everyone can use this database without having access to all the design functions.
the only problem I see about doing this is if we need to use the same database for different project, we need to always create a new exe for each project.
Is there a way to make a empty database exe with just the layout, querys etc but with no data on the tables and have a save, open and save as option. So we can have several projects using the same database?
I was thinking to create a VB code for the database to delete all data on the tables when the database is open.
and before closing the database exporting all the data to a txt file or something.
Then the next time someone opens the database goes to the main form which has a open bottom which imports the txt file into the tables.
This way we can have several txt file for several project and use always the same exe database.

I need to create a database for students going on work experience.
Each of the students will have a rating from 1-6 depending on behaviour, effort and attainment. Each of the work placements also has a rating from 1-6. Each student chooses 6 work placements that they would like to attend (one of each rating)
If all the data for the students and the workplacements are entered into the system is it possible to match appropriate students to appropriate workplacements using MS Access 2003?

Hello everyone. I am a magician entertainer in Las Vegas. I am trying to create a database that will help me access (pun intended) information in my books and dvds.
I need to be able to search for a specific trick or balloon sculpture from among my vast library.
I have gone through the MS tutorials, but when I actually tried to create the forms--maybe I'm doing it backward-- to input data and retrieve data it just didn't work.
Any help would be welcome. I realize from reading the posts that this is a serious forum and that a newbie question like this can be annoying. I assure you that on the entertainer forum that I post regularly I try to help even the most newbie of questions, so please be kind.

I have been tasked with creating a database but I have no previous experience using access. I will be using version 2007. I have to create a database of vendors. These are vendors from all round the world who sell my company different products. So far I have 9 spreadsheets with lists of hundreds of vendors from different sections of the company.
I need to create a database that allows someone to search for a vendor and all the details will appear. The excel sheets have columns for vendor name, country based in, commodity type, address, contact name, phone number, email address and which part of my company use the vendor (an abbreviation). Not all of the information is available for each vendor.
Ideally I would be looking for something with search buttons, filters and the option to just show all vendors.

When the user hits the submit button i want the records created in the database to match the number specied fied in the text/combo boxes.
I think i may need to use an INSERT statement but totally confused how to do this.

An ancient application I'm working with came with .ini file which looks like an instruction set to create an access database. A sample few lines look like:
TABLE, USER, 13
FIELD,USRID,LONG,2,NODUP,ID,False,0,AUTO
FIELD,USRFNAME,TEXT, 50, NO, , True, 1
TABLE,VISITS,15
FIELD,VISIT,TEXT,12,NODUP, ID,False, 0
and so on.
Is there a way to get Access (2007 in my case) to create a new db by reading from this file? Or do I need to manually enter all this information.

I've read instructions for making a multi-user Access 2007 database. Summary is:
1) Split the database
2) Put back-end part of the split onto shared drive
3) Make copy of front-end of the split and give to each user of the database
4) Open Tools, Options, Advanced Tab. Set the default open mode to shared and the default record locking to edited record. While in options area, go to general tab and turn off compact on close and name autocorrect.
These instructions were posted by an Ms-Access MVP.My questions is about step 4. How do these settings get saved to the particular database that I am trying to make multi-user? None of these settings are in the Current Database Tab for Ms-Access 2007. Since they are in the general tab, does that mean all database I open with my copy of Ms-Access will take on these multi-user settings?
