I am having a problem with the date function in access 2010. The default format is Date/Time "General" but the sample on the right side just shows a number (17). The field goes blank on any date I enter. I have to manually format the date field with mm/dd/yy to show the dates in the date field. I don't always have to manually format the date. The long and medium dates are the only two from the drop down list that show dates properly.
View RepliesI have a downtime system that was created by our IT department that records the downtime of the line stops, it has export to excel button that will export the downtime to excel based off the parameters of date and time. I want to do the export then import to access for downtime analysis. The problem I am having is the programmers export it as HTML with .xls file format. and the worksheet has a date associated with it as well as the spreadsheet has a tab that contains a date and I can't figure away to import to a fixed table. So I tried the transfer spreadsheet not knowing it was in HTML, couldn't recognize the format, then I tried transfer HTML, can't find the file because of .xls file format. I know I could re-save it as a excel file but was trying to keep the steps to a min. Is there a way to import even though it has a date attached to the file and spreadsheet tab.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a date field with dates stored as MM/DD/YY, ie.10/13/09 and I want to use an UPDATE statement to change the year from 09 to 2009 but keep the 10/13/. The issue I'm encountering is when I use a wildcard in the SET portion it takes that as literal and updates with the wildcard. ie. Set Date = '*2009' WHERE Date LIKE '*09' updates the column with *2009 as the entry and not 10/13/2009. How can I update my field so I end up with 10/13/2009, not *2009?

The formula that I had was
Between DateSerial(Year(Date())-IIf(Month(Date())<4,1,0),4,1)
And DateSerial(Year(Date())+IIf(Month(Date())>3,1,0),3 ,31).
The calculation allowed me to count holiday hours taken between 1st April and 31st March. The problem is that it was working up till 31st march but is not now showing holidays taken since 1st April.
I have an application created in A2003, but my client's machines nearly all use A2010 runtime. How I can disable the Date Picker completely on all forms as I have no need for it. Obviously I can't access the 2010 property sheets to disable it that way.

I have a database to track temporary decertification's. I have the expiration and max dates calculated out from the original dates at the top of each box. The temp expiration date is calculated by adding 267 days from the first date . When we enter an extension, the new expiration date is 30 days from the extension date. My question is, how can I make the expiration date update when a new extension is put in.

I have a table in my Access 2010 Database with few date/time fields. I have set different formats like Short Time, Medium Time etc. But when I link this table to Sharepoint list, all the date/time fields have been modified to their default format (General Date).
Is there a way we can keep the formats as such even after linked to Sharepoint list? If not, is there a workaround?
I have a table with more than a million records. I want to add a new column with date equals to e.g.3/14/2012 for all the records. I am using update query, but it is super slow (taking more than a hour)..is there any other way to do this?

Hi all and a happy new year,
I am getting more and more infuriated with dates and access. I thought I had it all working, and now I get to 01/01/2008 and it all falls apart. Anyway,
I have a lump of ASP that finds various dates and queries them against an Access DB. I have used response.write to see what is being sent to the database, and they are in UK format DD/MM/YYYY as they should be. The field in my DB stores the dates as DD/MM/YYYY. Now for the bit that is driving me mad.
Somewhere in access, US format is being used. For instance, I have a date value that finds tomorrows date. In this case its 02/01/2008 for the 2nd of January 2008. When I enter the SQL in access though, no data is brought back. If I query on date equalling 01/02/2008 then data is brought back!
So, my program is outputting UK format, the dates are stored in UK format, my regional settings and everything else on my computer are UK format. Access is trying to find US format though-why?

◦Frm_MAIL_MERGE has either drop down to select CONTACTID or UNBOUND data field for user to type in CONTACTID number
◦User enters CONTACTID to be used for the mail merge
◦User selects SUBMIT
◦Application merges selected .dotm file with the information in table CONTACTS for the selected CONTACTID
◦Merged document is saved on the user Desktop as xxx.docx
Is it possible to have a value in an excel 2010 cell be used to update an access 2010 db?
For example, if in a spreadsheet "test" cell A2=3 then in a db "test" a column "value" is 3. However, if the value in the spreadsheet changes so does the db.
I wish to work in Access 2010 with a subset of my Outlook 2010 contacts (all desktop- no network barriers), so I am exploring the Desktop Contacts DB found in Microsoft's templates. It passes contact data back and forth using the standard macros, but I wish to add more fields from Outlook. It seems I need to find the code associated with the macro. I believe I can solve the problem using a Linked table, but am wondering if there is another solution?
Calendar synchronization is another issue. Linking gets me to the Archive Calendars, but not the Current one in Outlook which is what I want.

I have an access database which has a date field. I've entered all of the dates in valid UK format (dd/mm/yyyy). An example of the table looks like this:
Id| SeminarName | SeminarDate
1 | Introduction | 18/02/2006
2 | Other stuff | 19/02/2006
When I do:
SELECT * FROM tblSeminar WHERE SeminarDate=#18/02/2006#;
It doesn't return any records. If I remove the WHERE SeminarDate... it works fine, likewise if I use:
SELECT * FROM tblSeminar WHERE SeminarDate=#02/18/2006#;
So something is causing the date not to match.
I'm using <%Session.lcid = 2057%> at the top of all of my pages, and am hoping to keep all formatting in UK dd/mm/yyyy format.
Can anyone help here?? Thanks very much...
I have converted an old database to Access 2007 and find I need to edit my queries that use the date format function.
eg change from Format([date],'yyyy') to Year(date)
I can change each query manually but is there a quicker way to do this?

Here's a little problem that is driving me nuts. I know what is wrong and yet I can't fix it!
I have an Access D/B and a mail merge word doc which gets its data from a table in the database. Now the date is in the correct format in the table i.e. uk/european format. The 5 of january 2005 would be 05/01/2005.
However when this gets into the word doc it changes to USA format i.e. 01/05/2005.
Not very desireable! how do I fix it?

I've written a vba macro that takes data from Excel, processes it into an XML file & then imports into Access.All fields were fine apart from the date field, which appeared in the Access table as "00:00:00"...The date in the XML was appearing as 01/01/2014.
Code:
dateTemp = [date here]
xmlFieldElement.Text = Year(dateTemp) & "-" & Format(Month(dateTemp), "00") & "-" & Format(Day(dateTemp), "00") & "T00:00:00"
This produces 2014-01-01T00:00:00...Note, putting the date into reverse order without the formatting also causes the import to result in 00:00:00
Hello , I have a date format problem , I have an access database which when run by a macro, gives me a date format of 05-AUg-05( data type is text)and the same applies when it 's exported toexcel , it appears as 05-Aug-05. But , when exported to excel i need it in the format 05/08/05.
What should i do for this ?
I think the problem is ,When I run a macro i think the date field is automatically assigned to text , what should i do so tht when it runs a macro it should be in date/time type ?

I'm using Access 2003 connecting through ODBC. I'm trying to set up an automated query to grab today's data. normally it's pretty easy, all you'd have to do is enter date() in the criteria in an access query. Unfortunately, the date in my database (i can't change this) is in an odd format.
example: april 1st, 2013 = 1130401
Every single date always has that preceding "1" in front of it, then the year, then the month, and finally the day.
I want to always specify the current date whenever the query is run (without having to type it in)
I am importing data that has been put onto Notepad into an Access table - this works fine except the date in notepad comes across as a date and a time. When I put the table into a query and ask for the date to be Between [Specify date 1] and [Specify date 2] - does the user have to then put 7/02/2005 00:00:00 AM and xxx. I have tried this but it doesn't return all values. I have also tried just the dates but this doesn't return all values either - any ideas?

So in property of this field in format I put yyyy-mm and in input mask I type 0000-00;;-
I also created the form based on the table containing above field and I defined format and input mask for corresponding formant in the same way like at the table.
But if I try to type date for example 2014-01 in text box of the form it comes up with the full date 2014-01-01. Why does it do like this? What do I do incorrectly?
I have a list of dates in the mm/dd/yyyy format and I am looking to get it into the fiscal format of yyyyww. I am able to do this with the datepart and format functions, but I need to make it so that the fiscal month begins in January but the first week starts if there are three or more days in the week. For instance if Jan 1st is a Friday then this stands as the first fiscal week, if it is a Saturday then it does not count as the first week.
datepart and format functions have the Use the first week in the year that has at least 4 days for the firstweekofyear option but I need it where it has at least three to make it work.
I'm working with Access 2010 and am trying to use the transferspreadsheet command to output data in a query to an Excel 2010 format file. Here is the line of code:
DoCmd.TransferSpreadsheet acExport, acSpreadsheetTypeExcel12, "q_calldetails_tmp", "c: emp estoutput.xlsx"
It works fine and produces the output file but when I try and open it with Excel I get an error saying the format is incorrect. If I change the extension to .xls it opens with no problem but I need it to be an Excel 2010 format with correct extension.
