I am trying to execute query every midnight at 00:05 and append data into a table. This query reads the data from a linked table and appends the records into the local table.
Access doesn't triggers so I have no clue which way to proceed.
Can anybody help me creating a logic to execute query at midnight?

I get the following error message: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] You tried to execute a query that does not include the specified expression 'Expr1' as part of an aggregate function, this is in qrySessionsEverything.

I have a table of items.
Each item has a different formula attached which I need to store as a literal value in the table and execute it as a normal expression in a query or vb.
e.g
Columns:Item, QTY, Hrs, mins, ItemFormula
Data: Car, 2, 7, 3, [QTY]+ [Hrs]/[mins]
So ' [QTY]+ [Hrs]/[mins]' would literally be stored for that rercod and is how it would be displayed in a table, form, report etc as it is important for the user to see how the calculation is performed as well as seeing the end result which will be calculated as normal in vb or a query.
The formula will vary from record to record.
How do I go about this?

I have Access 97 client and server databases linked together. My system is setup so the database is aware of how many users are currently logged in so Ill know when it is being used exclusively. What I want is some code to check every week that a repair and compact has been performed and if not start one on both the client and the server databases (assuming no one else is in them). Do I need code to delete the LDB files beforehand aswell just in case?
I kind of imagine this check will be performed when the first person logs in of a morning.

I want to select the single field from table2. field name is "Username" from second table2. will select the username on the basis of Emp_ID becaue both tables has same emp_ID.

Calculate time across midnight in ms access

I have created a database to store patient arrival date, arrival time and departure time.
I am trying to set up a query to calculate the total waiting time for each patient from arrival time to departure time.
At the minute I can calculate the total waiting time in minutes by:
Minutes: DateDiff("n",[Time Arrived],[Time Left Department])
and the total waiting time in hours and minutes by the following:
Waiting Time: [Minutes]60 & Format([Minutes] Mod 60,":00")
But this does not work accross midnight, as it gives a negative time for anyone seen before midnight and discharged after midnight.
Any help much appreciated.
I have a database of around 15,000 users and I'd like to create a query that I can run on a weekly basis and save the results to an Excel spreadsheet. The results need to be logical and understandable by my coworkers.
Unfortunately, the actual results of the query are not (in their raw form) logical or easy to interpret.
Let's say I have a table called "users" and within that I have:
Surname
Forename
FieldA
FieldB
FieldC
FieldA has a value of either NULL or a 12-digit number
FieldB has the values are "ENABLED", "DISABLED" and "N/A"
FieldC contains a value of either "1" or NULL
This means nothing to my coworkers who want each user to be sorted into a "category". As I'm running this on a weekly basis, I'd like this query to do the work for me, so I don't have to manually assign everyone to a category in Excel. Plus, of course, there is no chance of human error if the query does this for me.
Sooo... I'd like my query to categorise for me as follows:
Category1 = FieldA IS NOT NULL and FieldB="ENABLED"
Category2 = FieldA IS NOT NULL and FieldB="N/A"
Category3 = FieldA IS NULL and FieldB="ENABLED"
Category4 = FieldA IS NULL and FieldB="N/A"
Category5 = FieldA IS NOT NULL and FieldC = 1
... etc.
I'd like the final column in the query results to simply list the category name, so I can simply copy and paste the data into an Excel spreadsheet and be done with it, safe in the knowledge that it makes sense to all.
I am creating a crosstab query in VBA to report on claims on a paid and incurred basis. I would like the query to have 13 columns - one for each month of the current year and one for all claims paid prior to January of the current year.
Is there a way to lump all data with a date less than Jan 1 into a single field while retaining the monthly detail for the current year?
All of the data is coming from a single table. Sample code below functions, but provides a column for every month a claim was incurred.

I have a form open with a Text box displaying todays date, I have used the default Date().
If the user leaves the form open over night the date is still set to yesterday, any ideas how I can refresh the default? I want to refresh just that object nothing else.

I have a field that works out the difference in time between two fields. However, whenever the end time goes past midnight, it calculates the difference as a minus figure. I understand that this is because of the date issue, but I cannot seem to find a way around it.
Here is what I have so far:
time_of_referral field. This is the start time. It is a short time field that is filled in by the end user.
time_of_arrival field. This is the end time. It is a short time field that is filled in by the end user.
Text31 field. This is not visible to the end user, and has the following control source =DateDiff("n",[time_of_referral],[time_of_arrival])
Text33 field. This is an unbound text box with the following control source =[text31]60 & Format([text31] Mod 60,":00")
This works out the time difference and presents it as hours and minutes.
I have seen solutions that add a day to the end time, but unfortunately this does not work when the end time DOESN'T go past midnight. Some will go past midnight, some won't.
I want to calculate decimal hours duration taken for a job starting before and finishing after midnight.
I have something that works but it seems cumbersome.

I've searched for a solution, and the proposed solution didn't work for me.
I am executing an SQL statement to insert values into a History table when deleting a value in a subform. Two of the 5 values are asking me for parameters when the SQL executes and I cant figure out why! The datatypes they are inserting into are correct and I'm at a loss. The 2 values giving me grief are Manufacturer and Model.

I have a mainform with a search function so the user can select a record to view and update. The selected record is displayed in Subform1 on Page1 of a tab control. The record source of this form is Query1. Page2 of the tab control contains Subform2; record source is the result of Query1 joined to Query2.
The forms correctly displays, updates and adds records my problem occurs when I add VBA code to the BeforeUpdate event of a control on Subform1. The code appears to execute once for each page in the tab control.
Has anyone any suggestions on how I can correct my problem.

I am having trouble in implementing the TreeCtrl structure. I have a simple database for testing purpose and I am not able to make it work. There appears to be a problem with the bookmark property and I get an error message:
"can't Add child:Arguments are of wrong Type, are out of acceptable range, or are in conflict with one another".
I have attached the database here and could you please see what is wrong with my code.

I have a Visible form and an Invisible (visible=false) form open at the same time. Is it possible to use a button on the visible form to execute the code behind a button in the invisible form. The subroutine on the invisible form is Public. I tried DoCmd.RunCommand and a macro with RunCode but... nada...
(There is a valid reason for this approach but i will spare you the boring explanation. I can think of a work around where I can bypass this need, but this way is cleaner (there are cases where the invisible form is visible and used directly, the form has data which is sent to a report to create a label). I have done everything else with VBA code but for some reason can't get this to work, so now i am obsessed)

I try to execute an update command i.e.:
UPDATE Results set Data = 'Heiner's key' where ValidationNumber = 1 and TestNumber = 2 and Line = 'E1'.
Access does not let me do this because the “'” in Heiner's terminates the update string prematurely.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to do this? Thank you.

difficult to handle error when executing my report. I put a code into OnOpen section but ACCESS states:

Additionally it says in description:
This error occurs when an event has failed to run because the location of the logic for the event cannot be evaluated. For example, if the OnOpen property of a form is set to =[Field], this error occurs because a macro or event name is expected to run when the event occurs.
I am genuinely confused by that. I have also provided the code in the case if I am missing something I don't know yet. In a debug window, I have executed the code line by line and it worked. Whenever I try to open the report, the error occurs. Should I be aware of something when I write code for reports?

1. Combo Box : Label is Name
2. Text Box : Label is Code
3. Text Box : Label is Department.
These three fields are stored in the table.
I wants that when the form gets loaded, then in the combo box field all the names from the table should appear. When I select the particular name from the list and the focus is lost from the combo box then the two values from the table should show the corresponding text boxs.
