Feb 20, 2008I have an access 2003 table I want to export to a text file. I can do this but the headers disappear and don't export. I can't find anyway to make the headers export also. Can someone help please.

Export Table To Fixed Width Text File
Oct 4, 2006I am trying to export a text file to be imported in to excel but whenever I export as fixed width all by number columns get cut to 2 decimal places, does anybody know how to get around this?

Oct 26, 2013I have inherited 1000 records which need to fit into new criteria selected from combo boxes and to do this individually by the forms will take forever so i want to copy and paste the data in the table, but when I do it doesn't fill in the form.
This may be a problem with the cascading script in the form as the fields fill in when I press f9 but disappear every time I open the form.Finally I eventually want to export the data as a table but displaying the text value rather than the key value.

Sep 20, 2013I would like to export a table as a text file to a user defined location.
I have it mostly working, but not exactly as I would like. I'm stuck on the user defined location.
I have a Form that contains a subform and two command buttons.
The subform contains the table I want to export as a text file.
The text file has to be comma delimited, no qualifiers.
I have the transfertext command in VBA that works perfectly:

What I'm stuck on is the filepath. The file path changes everytime. So I would like to have either the open dialog box (I've tried many different versions that I found on the web.) or to search by the account name for the folder and place the text file in there.
Here is one that is closely working how I want it to:
This is a function that I found, that opens a dialog box for the user to select the folder location. It works, but I can't seem to get it to work properly.
It prompts, the location, then once you select it and press ok. It will add the folder name to the full file name, and place the file in the default root path. Not the selected folder path.
So in the end it will look like this:
D:1_MainMyFolderName_MyTextFileName.txt
I'm somehow stuck on getting to seperate the file path from the file name, so you it look like this:
D:1_MainMyFolderNameMyTextFileName.txt

I've tried the Fileobject, FileFolder method, but can't get the quite work properly.
I've also tried wildcard methods as well:

But keep throwing up blanks.

I need to export an access table to text file automatically. It would be helpful if this could be done by some commands or a batch file etc..
I have 60 access tables. I need to export the data to one single text file (if not possible I dont have problem in exporting to 60 different text files).
This needs to be done daily. So I need a faster way. I cannot use any softwares since I dont have any budget for that. But If there is any source codes I could Look at it would be more helpful.
Export Text File From Access
Nov 9, 2004I am trying to export a text file from access. I know how to do it using the export wizard and it pretty much works with my VB code except 1 thing. I need the header column exported as well. There is a check box to include that in your export while using the wizard. When I save the specs and do it using the VB code everything works except it does not include the header row which I need. Is there a way to include this row without having to go through the wizard?
Here is my current code that works(except the header).

After exported to Excel, some text (red font above) is missing, like below. If I copy to Excel, the same error.

Mar 22, 2013I have 30+ queries (or table columns) I wish to export to txtfile files that I need to be able to replace each time the table and / or queries are updated.
This is the code I've used but when I run the macro the error message is that the FreeFile is not a valid outside procedure. The code debugs without issues up to but not including the macro.

I have two empty columns in my access database whose total width is supposed to be 385 chars (255+130). I am trying to find a way to be able to export this blank field with a total of 385 blank spaces onto an ASCII text file.
A sample row looks like this:
L ***** 385spaces needed here ***** 888888 EXAMPLE DEALER NAME 1234 EXAMPLE LANE EXAMPLE ADDRESS LINE 2 EXAMPLE CITY CA88888 80088812348008881234FORD JOE DEALER NAME 8008881234
After the first letter L in position 1, I need to have 385 blank spaces and then at 387th place I have some other data to follow.
I tried a lot to use the export wizard, but it doesn't help. Is there a way to do this?

What I'm essentially trying to do is view the cells content (which is in html) in a web-browser..

Text Export Has Too Many Trailing Zeroes (1.00000)
Jan 14, 2014For some reason, whenever I export a query to text, every number has trailing zeroes after it. This happens with any number, even integers.
Examples:
1.000000000
5.250000000
0.600000000
Nine decimal places would be fine if the number extended that far, but I want to get rid of the trailing zeros so that 1.0000000 becomes 1, and 5.2500000 becomes 5.25, etc.
Now, I have noticed that a setting in the Control Panel > Region and Language > Formats Tab > Additional Settings > Numbers Tab controls the numbers of decimal places, but if I adjust it to two or zero it just cuts the data off at that point.

Aug 3, 2005I had to delete a database so I exported selected records using export as a text file thinking I would get some sort of delimited text file that I could later use. Instead I got some sort of fixed length file with .............. between records and | between fields.
I'd like to convert this data to a tab delimited file.
How would I do this?

Jul 15, 2014I have two tables identical with all text fields within the same database. One table I export as a csv, delimited with commas separating my fields and quotation text qualifiers. Where the fields are blank there are text qualifiers as well ("" - begining and ending quotations). This is what I need. The second table is exporting as a csv, delimited, commas separating the fields with text qualifier as ""- begining and ending quotations, EXCEPT the blank fields are not putting the text qualifier, and I need it.
First Table: *What I need*

Jul 23, 2012I have a table that has over 6000 rows with two columns. One a title and the other a memo column with transcripts from interviews (some being extremely long). I do research using content analysis and to do that on these interviews, I need each one saved in its own text file.
Specifically I need to export each transcript into its own text file and save that file using the title from the other column. So I would end up with over 6000 text files all being saved using the title from the corresponding row as the transcript. Is this even possible?

So, I thought that I will create a database and work my way from there. I was able to work the code and combine everything. Now would it be possible to export individual record from a query to a file with .html extension? If not, .txt will work as well. However, I want to have another field that would have the file names and the file is saved under that name.The query name is "Code Query" and the field name is "Final Code".

The users need to be able to quickly query a printer utilizing one of those criteria and then copy and paste it into our ticketing system. Is there a way to automatically export the record from the query to a text file? I have extensively searched online and have tried to come up with something but I have found that I don't know where to start. This is the code for the query:

Oct 28, 2013I have successfully put together some VBA code that will accept a user's input into a textbox on a form. A cmdFindprinter button is clicked and the query is ran. The user is asked via an inputbox for their login ID so that the query is exported to a text file on the desktop. The query then pops up in a new tab and also automatically exports the queried record to a text file on the desktop. I have upward of 30 users using this form at any given time and I need the following automated.
What I would like to do is to have the text file go into a specific format. For example:
IP address:
Serial number:
Location:
The name of one of the queries is "Xerox IP Query", the field names would be "IP Address", "SerialNumber", and "Site Name".
This is what comes up in the text file right now:
"CXF345946","157.229.243.58","123 Happy Ave"
I'd like to remove the quotes and have the info fall into place as shown in the example above.

Aug 29, 2012A little background. I need to export the results of a query I use to build a report. For Print Master software I need the "Field Names" in the text file as well as the data for a Mail Merge in Print Master (PM).
"The field name information in the file you have specified is missing or not correctly formatted. The first line of the file must contain the database field names. Make sure the "Export Field Names" (or similar) option is selected in the program from which you are exporting data."
Trouble is, when trying to export the report or query, Access has no "Export Field Names" option. It works if I first export to Excel and then from Excel to "txt" then to Printmaster. I would like to eliminate the Excel step. Therefore, how do or can I get Access Export to transfer the "Field Names" along with the field data?
Queries :: Export Query And Remove Text Qualifiers From Headings
Jun 29, 2015I have a link to a "csv" file. I then run a query to exclude some rows.
Then I need to export the query result as a text file with quotes (as text qualifier) and semicolon (as delimiter). This is not a problem. The problem is, that I only need the text qualifer for the data in row 2+ and not the headings.
The data export should look like this:
ID;Contract;Date
"1";"4700001360";"20150618"
How can I specify this export layout in the export wizard?

Oct 15, 2014I am trying to export a table (and possibly later a query) into a fixed width text file and I am not finding where to set the specifications. When I select Text File in the export tab, I only get the check box about Export datq with formatting and layout. Is that basically it? I do have the table set up with the correct widths for the fields.
An additional question:
This is a large table with 99 fields for a total width of 804 characters. Is there any limit for the six of a record for such an export?
