Form Gets Smaller When Viewed Second Time?

Jan 24, 2005

I am updating an old Access app. The first form, FORM_A, of the app displays in maximized window - as I want them all to display. I click on a button to open a new form, FORM_B, and do whatever I need to on that form, close that window to return to the first window, FORM_A. When I do, FORM_A is now displaying much smaller.

FORM_A's Has Modal property is =Yes.

When I try to change the "Has Modal" property to NO, it alerts me that all the module and macro code will be deleted - and it is. I made a copy before continuing so I still have a copy of it.

I have the OnLoad event set to a macro that short maximizes the window. I use the same macro for the On Focus event, but it does not change the display on focus.

I've tried changing it to Has Modal = No, then copying the old code back into the blank module for that form - doesn't change the display of FORM_A.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Updating Unbound Textbox On Form Per Record Viewed

Jan 23, 2006

Hey, I am trying to figure out how to update an unbound textbox on a form to reflect conditional data in other boxes when each record is viewed (pages works with reports but I cant find something similar with forms). such as if I had an unbound textbox that I want to = firstname+" "+lastname I would want for it to update it every time a user goes to the next record.. I can't seem to figure out a command or method that executes every time someone goes to the next record.. (and Im not too familiar with all the commands that come without a GUI).. thanks for your time

Updating Tables While Data Is Viewed

Apr 18, 2007

I have created a Production Tracking database for my company using
Access 2003. Everyone here uses Access 2000, so I have saved the file
as an access 2000 database. I am importing three tables from an ODBC
connection. These tables are being update by another department
constantly. I am using a centralized form for users to view the
information.

If the users are viewing the information and we try to update the
tables they are viewing, we get an error. My question is: Is there a
way around this problem?

This what I have done:
In the module I wrote, I am importing the tables, then renaming them
to the tables the users are viewing, and then altering the structure
of one of the tables. We cannot use linked tables, the reason is we
have only three licenses to access the software through the ODBC
connection. So as soon as three people open the access database they
take those three connections.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Phil

Count Number Of Times Record Is Viewed...

Jun 16, 2006

What I would like to do is have a field in a given record increment itself every time that record is selected. For example, say you have a table that stores items in the inventory: each item has a times_search_for_field.

Now, lets say a user runs a search which results in the following SQL:

SELECT * FROM Inventory WHERE experation_date=Today();

Now I want to have every record returned by that SQL statement increment it's times_search_for_field incremented by one. I'm just looking for the most efficiant way to do this.

I know I chould just have my asp .net code loop through the results and call an SQL UPDATE statement for each record, but it seems there should be a more efficient way of doing this.

Mike.

Opening Smaller Windows

Sep 15, 2006

Hi Guys

Im' Pulling my hair out at the moment trying to get my forms to re-open in the smaller view after ive closed them.

Ive tried Cmd.movesize which works ok occasionally but when you turn your back the next time the darn thing opens maximised.

Is there a simple command to get the window to open in the smaller mode like DoCmd.Maximize does for the full size mode?

I would be much obliged for any help with this one.

Thanks in advance for any help offered

All the very best for now

Splitting A Large Table Into Many Smaller Ones

Mar 17, 2005

Hi,

To avoid the mind-numbing tedium of have to use make-table queries loads of times, is there a quick (probably VBA-related) way to split a large Access table, of about 350000 records, down into 93 smaller tables, based on a key code field that identifies each group of records e.g. GBW102, GBE999, etc?

Any help much appreciated.

thanks,

Alex

Modules & VBA :: Make Smaller Tables Out Of A Bigger One

Jul 30, 2013

I have a table with 3 fields. The fields are down1, down2 and down3. . I would like to use this table to create a new table (downtime). What I need too do is loop through each record in the table and place the three fields independently in my new table. For example, I would like to go to the first record in my original table, than place down1 as my first record in my new table, down2 as my second record and down3 as my third. Than I will go to the second record in my original table and place down1 as my fourth record, down2 as my fifth record, down3 and my sixth record and so on.

Create/Link Smaller Tables To One Large Table

Jun 22, 2005

I am a newbie when it comes to Access and ASP but I am trying. I am in the need for some help.
I have a large table in Access 2003 and need to break it into smaller tables (not using a query) where the fields are the same except each of the smaller, new tables will hold info for a specific person. These smaller tables would need tro be linked to the larger.
Is there an easy way to do this? I need to keep it in tables due to the ASP software I use to generate the asp pages.
Is this possible?
My goal is for each user to be able to only view/edit their data and for the large table to reflect any changes made to the smaller table.
Thanks,
Dan

Queries :: Select Largest Value Which Is Smaller Than Another Value (Access 2007)

Jun 4, 2014

I have a table of logged entries. Each record has a date field (ValueDate) and an account identifier field (AccountID)

I also have a table of rates. Each record has the same account identifier field (AccountID), a date field (EffectiveDate) and a rate field (BankRate)

Entries can be logged for any given ValueDate. But there may or may not be a corresponding EffectiveDate in the rates table.

I need to write a query that will return all of my logged entries and the largest EffectiveDate which is on or before the ValueDate (as well as the BankRate corresponding to that EffectiveDate)

This is as far as I've gotten but it returns multiple records for each logged entry. I need one record per logged entry.

Code:
SELECT tblLoggedEntries.EntryID, tblLoggedEntries.AccountID, tmp.BankRate, MAX(tmp.EffectiveDate) AS EffectiveDate
FROM tblLoggedEntries
LEFT JOIN
(SELECT tblRates.AccountID, tblRates.BankRate, tblRates.EffectiveDate
FROM tblRates) AS tmp ON tblLoggedEntries.AccountID = tmp.AccountID
WHERE tmp.EffectiveDate<=tblLoggedEntries.ValueDate
GROUP BY tblLoggedEntries.EntryID, tblLoggedEntries.AccountID, tmp.BankRate

Modules & VBA :: Requirement To Break Bulk Emails Into Smaller Groups For Transmission

Mar 10, 2014

I have put together a VBA sub to run Outlook.Application to send a report to selected email addresses. A Table's records contain an email addresses as well as category for grouping purposes.

I use a "Create Table Query" to extract the selected email addresses from the table into a temporary table called "ETransferAddress" then "Set rst = CurrentDb.OpenRecordset("ETransferAddress")" then concatenate the email addresses separated with commas.

This works fine for small groups, but the service provider blocks them if the number of email addresses go into the hundreds.

What I need is to break the email addresses into sub groups and then create a series of emails all with the same Report, Subject and Content.

One way might be to create a series of loops to create a number of smaller tables but to string that lot together to achieve it is beyond me at present.

Here is my code to date"

Dim appOutLook As Outlook.Application
Dim MailOutLook As Outlook.MailItem
Dim strPath As String
Dim strFilter As String
Dim strFile As String
Dim rst As DAO.Recordset
'Create a table with selected addresses

Reports :: Auto Populate Date And Time Every Time Form Is Updated

Nov 8, 2013

I have a database that stores information for lab testing. Each time a tech does a "step" in the test process he logs it in the table, using an input form. There are different categories, for example preparation, testing, analysis, etc, and each of those steps take time. I have the form autopopulate the date and time with NOW() evertime the form is updated. What i want to do is calculate the time it takes to do each in days. I can easily get how many days it was from now since they logged the test, =NOW()-TestDateTime. What I want to do is get the number of days it took to do each step, ie the number of days between each event. Is there a way to do this?

Reports :: Join Smaller Report On The Back Of Main Report?

Apr 18, 2013

I have a report that displays incidents, their details, consequences and a photo. Among the details is a severity rating high medium or low, I have been asked to make the report shorten the records which have been given a low severity (because it takes up as much space as the more important/severe ones).

The only method I can think of is to use the onformat event, to shrink and make invisible all the fields that I don't want to see if the severity field shows 'low'.

Hard Code TIME To Selected Date On Form (to Make It Date&time) For My Query Criteria

Aug 17, 2006

Hello buddies :D, do you have any idea how to make this work?

To select data that falls within this criteria of date range between cboDate and cboDate2 (fields on my form). The date in [tblJobDetails]![timeIn] come in this format "08/17/06 10:24 AM", but the cboDate/cboDate2 (takes in date only e.g 08/17/06) what i am after is to evaluate specific hard coded time in addition to the date entered, i.e. even tho, i haven't entered time on the cboDate/cboDate2, I want specific time hard coded where e.g If i select a date range of 08/17/06 and 08/18/06 on my cboDate and cboDate2 it should really be evaluating: 08/17/06 8:00 AM to 08/18/06 8:00 AM.

This is the criteria i curentlly have on my query in design view tha works perfect in selecting date only.
([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]>=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate] Is Null) And ([tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Or [tblJobDetails]![timeIn]<=[Forms]![frmPendingJobs]![cboDate2] Is Null)
How can I incorporate 8:00am to 8:00am into my cboDate and cboDate2. What can i do to make this happen? Your kindness will be greatly appreciated http://www.naijaryders.com/forums/images/smilies/thankyou.gif

Time Format - Short Time Displayed As Medium Time

May 23, 2006

I have an application with a backend db on PC 1, and the same application on PC 2 linked to the backend db on PC 1 via the network.

The link works fine but the time formats are different.

On PC 1 the time format is shortime and displays as it should i.e. in 24 hour clock format

However on PC 2, opening the same database via the network, the time format is still shorttime but when you read the time within the code it comes out in AM/PM format. Also, when the defaul tiem should be #20:00:00# but this changes to #8:00:00 PM#

Weirdly though, when you just open the table, the times are in the correct shorttime format.

Guessing, it must be a setting within the main core of Access 2003 that is different between the 2 instances?

Any ideas?

Time Taken To View A Form

May 19, 2006

I'm attempting to create a short questionnaire. I have 1 table with 5 multiple choice questions, each one to be answered singly through a form.

My problem is I would like to know how long each participant takes to answer each question, therefore I am trying to save the time (StartTime) from when a form is opened to the time (EndTime) when the next question button is pressed and then again for the following form/question etc.

I have tried to do this through the use of Macros on the Form using the Set Value Action to populate the value/time in the Table - without any success - it does not like using the Time () command through a Form! why??

How can I get the above to work?

If there is no easy way to do this I would like a counter to start when the first Form is open and finish (wherever Form may be open) after 90 seconds (e.g. a user has 90 seconds to go through as many questions/forms as possible) before the questionnaire closes and goes back to the first form.

Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

Thank you for your time.

Display Date And Time On A Form

hi, i have created a form and would like to display todays date and time in the following format

Mon 6 June 2005 24:00

this will literally be just on the form, no link to anything or any extra dynamic features. just there for the user's benefit

if anyone could tell me the steps that need to be taken, im guessing some formatting will need to be done, or some script will need to be placed in the form event code builder.
i have only recently focused my attention on ms access so a descriptive but to the point explanation will be ideal thanks

Update Two Queries At The Same Time From A Form

Sep 15, 2006

Hi,Not sure where to post this as it covers both queries, forms and partly tables.ISSUE:I need to add two records to a query with one record in a form. Is this possible?BACKGROUND:This is a database with TV programs and the times they are to be broadcast. Tables:One table. "table_programs" contains the information about each program (title, description, length etc.). The other table, "table_times" has the times for the programs (date, start_time etc.), where one program can be shown multiple times.Query:There is one query, "query_programtimes", that combines the above two tables + two calculation fields. One calculates the end time of a program by adding the start time (from the times table) and the length (from the programs table). The other calculates a file name, based on the weekday of the date field.Form:The form is based on the "table_programs" table, with the "query_programtimes" as the data source for a subform. There I enter a program and in the sub-form one or more times for it to be broadcast. So far so good. The form adds one record to the query for each time that a program is broadcast. Now what I'd like to do is to add another record in the query for each scheduled time. That is for entering a file that will be played when a program is finished. That is, it'll take its title from the file name that is calculated in the query and the scheduled programs end time as its start time.Alternatively, and perhaps even better, this data could be in its own query and then a third query can combine the two to get the full schedule. Is there any way to do this? That is, one entry in the form is supposed to update two queries at the same time.Hope I made myself clear... :)Thanks!

Run-time 2501 Opening A Form

Jun 12, 2006

hi guys, here is the situation.

I have 3 forms:
1- editpopsubform where the info comes from a select statement.

2- editPoplist , which has the form 1 as a subform

3- editpop, a form which allows the user to edit a record selected in the poplist form.

The idea is to open the editpoplist form, where a list of records appears. Once a record is double clicking in the code number, the editpop form is open showing all the details for that particular record.

the code number in the editpop from is assigned as per the following:
=[forms]![editpoplist]![editpopsubform]!ifsnumber

Problem: when i double click in the code number the following error appears...

"run-time error 2501 . the open form action was cancelled"

any clue?
thx max.
