I populate the table "date" field from a Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control 6.0(SP6). I havent been able to figure out how to ONLY populate the date portion of the control so my field value containes Date & Time.
When I run the query, I have to select the day after my request to include the records I need. I think this is because of the time in the field Example, If I want all records thru 6/17/2006 I must select "thru" 6/18/2006. This mucks things up if I have records dated 6/18/2006
Both of these statements give the same bad results:
Between [forms]![freports]![from] And [forms]![freports]![thru]
>=[forms]![freports]![from] And <=[forms]![freports]![thru]
Hi there. I'm just jumping into Access and have the following question. In my Purchase Order Table, I have a date field calcualated as text, i.e. "01/12/04". I need to convert this to a date format in my queries so I can do calculations, i.e. 01/12/04 - 01/05/04 = 7 days. Can someone help me with how to convert this text date to a date format. Sorry if this is an easy question. - AJS
I am trying to get a text string from a table to convert to the proper date format in access 2003.
The text string is formatted as 140930 for Sep 30th, 2014 for example.
I have tried using the formula following formula: Format([PCCSDTA_DCSDIU]![DTEAVL],"mm/dd/yyyy") but this format returns the date 11/06/2285 instead of the desired 09/30/2014.
I'm working with a table of financial transactions. I need to know the date a record relating to cash received actually arrived in our bank, but the software doesn't allow the user to enter this, so I've asked them to enter it into a text reference field, e.g. 'Other Text XX 16/04/14', and then I've got a formula - CDate(Right(Trim([RefField]),8)) - which takes the date from this reference.
This works fine, but it's really important I don't miss any of these records due to the date not being entered, so what I'm trying to make is a formula which will give me the date from the ref field as in the formula above if there is one, but if that formula gives an error (so the date has been missed out or incorrectly entered) then I want to take the date from another field, called [DateAdded] as a failsafe.
I can't work out a formula that won't give me an error, i've tried loads. First I tried :
But that gives an error, and I think from looking at forums that Access evaluates both parts of an Iif function so it'll do that.
It seems like other people are saying that you need to use Nz, IsDate or IsNumeric or something along those lines instead of IsError to evaluate the field, but I can't get that to work as it's not a field, it's a portion of a text field.
I have set up a report which prompts the user for a start and end date. However, if they want to run it for a full month they enter eg. 01/07/07 and 1/07/07 - this will not include entries ending on 31/07/07.
Is there a way I can change the criteria prompt so that it read both dates entered as inclusive in the query. I am currently using Between [enter earliest date:] and [enter latest date:]
Hey everyone, I need some help with formatting a string for use with the DoCmd.RunSQL() method. I can't figure out how the hell VB deals with escape characters for the purpse of variables inside strings. I have this line right now.
strSQL = "INSERT INTO OS (OS) VALUES(" + OS.Value + ")"
This is supposed to insert one row into the "OS" Table, in the "OS" field. In my form there is a textbox called "OS" and I'm trying to insert that value into the DB table.
Two things. 1) Yes, I know, I have a lot of things named "OS" 2) Yes, I know I don't need to use a string here, but I'm just presenting this is an abbreviated example, in my full program I do in fact need a string.
I have a query that pulls scores for this month only for each class member. Problem is, I only need a count of these scores (per person) and because the date is in the query, it doesn't group the scores together and count them as one. i.e. it sees score 1 and score 2 as separate because they have different dates so they won't count together.
The only purpose of date in this query is to filter out only this month's dates. Is there some advanced query expression something or other that will tell it to leave date out of the count and only use it to filter?
User Query #1: Notes: ReportStartDate will always be entered as the first day of the month; ReportEndDate will always be entered as the last day of the month The report will always show 6 consecutive months
User selects ReportStartDate = 7/1/12; ReportEndDate = 12/31/12
Notable conditions: -The calculation for Contract 1 will have a partial month profit calculated for September 2012. The other months can show the MonthlyProfit value, with October and December being $0. -The calculation for Contract 2 will have a partial month profit calculated for July 2012 and December 2012. The other months can show the MonthlyProfit value. -The calculation for Contract 3 will have no partial months since the StartDate is on a month beginning, and the ReportEndDate is prior to the EndDate. July 2012 will show $0.
Request: I either need a super complicated IIF statement for 6 fixed columns in a query (one column for each month) or a smart function, neither of which I can do.
I have a form where I want a textbox [txtMaxOrdLimit] to be visible only if another text box on the same form [PaNumber] contains the letter D in the string. This is the code I have on the forms On Current property but I'm missing something because textbox [txtMaxOrdLimit] doesn't show on the form at all.
If Me.PaNumber = "*D" Then Me.txtMaxOrdLimit.Visible = True Else Me.txtMaxOrdLimit.Visible = False End If
I currently have a form where users can enter an "End Date", click a button, and it queries the data from 12 months prior to "End Date" entered.
Is there a way to force the query to show all 12 months, even if there are no records for a particular month? For example: if the user enters February 2013 in the date field, I would like the query to return:
March 2012 April 2012 May 2012 June 2012 July 2012 August 2012 September 2012 October 2012 November 2012 December 2012 January 2013 February 2013
...so even if June 2012 has no records, it is included in the query with a value of zero.
This is what I have so far:
WHERE (((Qry_Tbl_Assets.Dte) Between DateAdd("m",-12,[Forms]![Main_screen]![End_Date]) And [Forms]![Main_screen]![End_Date]))
I am creating an online post, similar to a guestbook. When a user submits an entry, I am storing the date and time in a column titled "Timestamp", which is formatted 8/4/2005 9:16:58 ("General Date"). I am running the table through a query which is then posted on the web.
What I would like to do is this: I would like to use Timestamp to display the date that the entry was submitted, but not the time (basically, "Short Date"). Can I exclude the time using a query without changing the actual data stored in each record of the table? I understand that the time stored is completely different than the time displayed, even in the table. How can I do this?
A few months ago I created a report that displays the results of a long union query comprising a dozen or so individual queries, each containing an expression that yields a date (or sometimes date and time). I set the report to group by query and then sort by the date expression. Now for some reason that I can't fathom the report has always only ever offered me the option to sort the date "A to Z", I infer it thinks the date is text, but this misunderstanding has never actually stopped it sorting by date perfectly well. It worked. No problems.
However I have recently added formatting to some of the queries so that they just display date, not date and time e.g. Format([dateandtime],"dd/mm/yyyy"), and now the sort by date in the report no longer works. None of the sorting or grouping options have changed, but it now sorts just by the "dd" component of the date - so it thinks 21st June is later than 20th July. why?
XXXXX-X (x are digits), for example - 4 01-1, 4 01-2...
I need find field with text beginning 4 01 and max of last symbol. Last symbol +1, then again convert to text field. For example: for example 4 01-1, 4 01-2,4 01-3 - must find 4 01-3 , then 3+1=4 and 4 01-4 format again to text.
Please, help me with formatting. Thank You in advance.
I have a database with a few large memo fields, used for storing methods for carrying out equipment tests. As I eventually want to output the methods in the form of reports, I want to be able to format selected text within each memo field (e.g. make the title bold, underline bits here and there, etc.) so that when output as a report, it looks like a nicely formatted document.
Does anyone know of an Access control that is basically a text entry box, but with formatting tools (maybe a row of buttons along the top?) associated with it that allow formatting of selected text only?
Incidentally, I have already tried linking Word documents as OLE objects, but this sems to require locating and selecting a Word file for each newly created record - something I don't want to do as this database will be used by people with few computer skills. I suppose I really want to be able to store an RTF file within the database.
I am importing a file that has two numeric fields in it. I was asked to import as fixed length text fields with leading zeroes and no decimal point.
I am supposed to export the data in Csv format.
Source field from IBM iSeries DB: quantity is 15,3. Quantity source value is 9, requested text format of five characters 00009, the Csv result is 9. The field in Access is defined as Text 5 characters.
Source field from IBM iSeries DB: price is 17,4. Price source value is 1020.0000, requested text format of nine characters 000001020, the Csv result is 1200.00. The field in Access is defined as Text 9 characters.
I would like to format all text boxes on a form. If there is an entry, I would like the backcolor to be white, else if not, red. Can I do that in the form code level, or would I have to do it for each text box separately?
I've got a field called [WordLink] on a form where the user enters the file name of the Word or Excel document asociated with the record.
I have a button that opens Word or Excel and then opens the file...not a problem there as I'm using the Call Shell("""C:Program Files command and that works just fine.
However, I need the button to look to see if it's got ".doc" or ".xls" within the text string in the field so it knows whether to open Word or Excel.
I've tried something basic to launch something like a msgbox (see code below) but obviously it doesn't work. How do I look within a text string for a value?
Cheers,
Russ :D
If Me.WordLink_filename.Value = "*.doc" Then MsgBox "This is a word file." Else End If
I have created a report that has string text from a query I created. The query, with the string text, take the information from a table. When I run the report the string text gets cut off (The box is big enough to hold the information). The table I have is a linked table to a text file that gets imported from a program. I try creating the same table but not having it linked and the string text worked.
Is there some way I can get around this? Is there something in the linked table that is stoping the string text?
Can anyone help me please!!! I receive a csv file in which I need to import it into a table. It contains a date feild which looks like this '2007-06-15 12:17:54.953000000' and I would like it to look like this 'ddmmyyyy 00:00:00'. I have tried importing the data then changing the imported field to date and time format but it deletes it, and I have also tried to format it into a query using Format() but this is unsuccessful also. I have a work around which is to change the CSV file into excel, format it how I want it and then import, but ideally I would like it to skip that part.
I know how to change a date format in a query. E.G., "StartDate" is entered as mm/dd/yyyy, but when I run the query, I change the format to mmmm dd, yyyy in the format line of the properties.
I am running code that includes sql for a "make-table" query. When it runs, I want the above mentioned change to the StartDate to take place. But I can't figure out how.
The purpose is to have the startdate show up as mmmmm dd, yyyy in a mail merge.
