Queries :: Conditional Query To Post Result In Field And Filter Result Records?
Mar 5, 2014I am working with Access 2010, on vista. What I have is a query made up of two tables, one product the other inventory. (see below) query.jpg
In the product table i have a field called "minimum reorder level". In the inventory table i have two fields one called "number in stock" and "number on order". What i want to happen is "number on order" to be filtered by the result, if the "number in stock", is less than "minimum reorder level", if it is, have the result placed in the "number on order" field. EG. if the "number in stock" = 2 and the "minimum reorder level" = 5 then 3 would be placed in the field "number on order" and only the second record from the query would be visible (see below) Query result.jpg The result of this would mean that the field "number on order" would be populated with the result and the and query would also use this to filter the record.
General :: Adding Count To Result Of Query Depending On Month And Result
Aug 18, 2013I want to add a number to my results within a query depending on the month and how many results. For example I have 10 results in my query 3 from January, 5 from March and the rest from April. The 3 from January would be 1,2,3. The five in March would be 1,2,3,4,5 and so on. Is it possible to do?
I'm using access 2003.

Self Generating Query String Based On Query Results?
Jan 3, 2008Here's my problem. I need to generate a report that says how much of each individual product was produced and as well as the total produced for a specified category in a time period. Something like the following:
05 Catagory A: 02 Product AA, 01 Product AB, 02 Product AC
10 Category B: 07 Product BA, 03 Product BB
04 Category C: 01 Product CA, 01 Product CB, 01 Product CC, 01 Product CD
etc...
I currently have a query that queries a database and pulls out all products that were produced in a specified period and the categories they belong to and dump them into a local access table. Now what I need to do is search through the query results and count up how many of each product were produced (02 AA, 01 AB, etc...) and the totals for each category. The number of categories is pretty limited (6), but there are hundreds of product codes, so I need a way to do this without having to type in each induvidual product code as the requirement by which the query searches. Also, the product codes that get returned are different every day.
I was thinking something along the lines of take the product code of the first row and check for any others in the results that match and write that into another table. Then move onto row 2 and use its product code as a search parameter and search through the query results for any matches. Then continue that until the end of the query results. Can I do that? Is there a better way to achieve what I need?
Query Not Generating Chart In Report

Generating A Query Using 4 Tables And Totalling One Of The Columns :S

as calculating totals delivered but it's hurting my head trying to work out
all the joins can anyone help please?
The 4 tables are as follows:

The relationships are pretty straight forward, OrderNumber on Orders and
OrderDetails are linked as are DeliveryNoteID on Deliveries and Delivery
Details.
I want the query to list every single item for all orders as well calculating
how the quantity remaining to be delivered based on deliveries so far and Qty ordered.
So I want to create a report that pretty much just displays:
Orders.OrderNumber - Orders.CustomerName - Orders.Customer_Ref -
OrdersDetails.ItemNumber - OrdersDetails.Qty - OrdersDetails.ItemType -
OrdersDetails.ItemDescription - Deliveries.DeliveryNoteID - Deliveries.Date -
DeliveryDetails.TotalQuantityDelivered
Can this be done as one query or do I need to join two queries together?
It's hurting my head :(

Modules & VBA :: Generating Text Fields From Query
May 17, 2015I've come across a problem that doesn't make sense to me. I have a form with a combo box on it. Each time the combo box is used or the form is moved to another record it triggers an event to update the text boxes.
I get the information for the text boxes from a query. Everything was working smoothly until I decided to add a text box to the form to be filled in. My thought was I add the column from the query to the code and it will update. No dice. It doesn't recognize any information in the query. But when I run the query as a standalone it sees the text. When i open the table that holds the text, it is still there.

When i step through the code it shows values for each of the columns except for column 11. It reports as 'null.' Things I've tried:
-Updating the combo box by reselecting the value for the record.
-Restarting DB.
-Changing from one record in the combo box back to the original record.
Is there a limit of columns that can be used? Column 10 works just fine...
Union Query - Generating From A Select Query ?
Jun 23, 2006(This is a modified repost - which hopefully makes sense) I am using Access2003. I am trying to set up a fast method of creating a union query. I have a jobs table that stores info about jobs with a separate table for each job that pulls together info from elsewhere when a review is conducted. The tables are as follows (and are linked from a paradox DB) :-
Table Name: jobs
JobID (J000001, J000002, etc)
Status (Live, Filled, etc)
Review Tables
Table Name: J000001 / J000002 etc
Consultant: (Joe, Terry etc)
ObjectID: (RoberI, SmithJ etc)
Status: (H, P, D, R etc)
The jobs table contains information about jobs, including a unique code (JobID) that identifies the job. There is also a status filed that tells us whether the job is Live or closed etc.
The first time a job is reviewed a new table, a review table is generated, and the name of the table is the same as the JobID for that job. So Job J000001 has a review table with table name J000001 etc. The review tables may contain information with the same ObjectID (as they are unique fields from a third table – the candidates table)
I would like to generate a union query for all jobs in table jobs with a status of live. I can do this manually, if I review a list of live jobs, with the following sql expression;
SELECT ObjectID, Consultant, Status, "J000001"
as [JobNo] FROM J000001
UNION SELECT ObjectID, Consultant, Status, "J000002"
as [JobNo] FROM J000002
UNION SELECT ObjectID, Consultant, Status, "J000003"
as [JobNo] FROM J000003;
I can then append the info into a new table. However this query is run at least twice a day and things change.
I would like to know is there a means of automatically generating sql for the union query based on results of a query of the jobs table ?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Sep 9, 2013I have a library function that will allow the user to nominate a query (as one of its arguments) in the calling application which must have an email field. The function will then Do Loop the email field, concatenating it before creating an email and addressing it. The intended functionality is that a developer can easily create a group email, just by creating a query.
This works fine if the query is filtered "statically" - i.e. I specify which group of people by typing in their "Site_ID" in the criteria. However I want developers to be able to creating dynamically filtered queries (perhaps by the group's ID on a calling form). Within the query (to test it), the filter is therefore [Forms]![Test Function Calls]![Site_id]. When I run the code, I am then presented with "Run-time error 3061: Too few parameters. Expected 1". The code in question is:

Combo Box Query To Post Result To A Seperate Query
Sep 27, 2006Hello, I have a combo box on a form which lists some names generated from a table.
I would like the selected name to be inputted into the 'critera' of another query called 'qryPBCustLevel' and for that query to be run.
I have tried to code this, but it is crashing at the point it trys to add the name into the query.

Reports :: Generating Multiple Reports Based On 1 Query
May 2, 2014I have a queries that do all the calculations and dumps the output to Query X for all different types of customers. At the moment I am required to generate a report for each of the customers and send it to them, manually.
End Goal:Initiate a Macro (at a given time at a given frequency) that would run a process to generate different reports for all different types of customers using a standard report template. I am also trying to avoid having to create a report for each customer (as the customer base grows, the report count will grow) so looking at something that would look into Query X and generate # of reports depending on number of customers.
I Want The Name To Appear Only Once In Query Result

if an employee has 2 or 3 area of strength his name appears in the query more than once. I want his name to appear once.
I tried "group by" but it gave me an error. I think I'm doing it wrong.

ADO Query Result Set
Sep 5, 2011I am trying to create a VB script to automate a mailing based on several query result sets from access. I have gotten to the stage that the output is correct but have a problem with the 5th and 6th record set query as they only return one record (When in fact there should be at least two for each).
I don't really understand why this is happeneing as the SQL is exactly the same as in the 2nd record set - which works perfectly. Also I've tested the SQL directly in an access query & there are no errors in the formatting that I can see... correct number of records returned.

Queries :: Use Result Of One Query To Generate Another Query
Apr 15, 2013I have 2 tables, Event and Person Particulars.
In an event, groups of 2-5 persons may be tagged to this event by a randomly generated number (using autonumber).
Let's say Tom (social security number: 12345X) is tagged to events 2, 5 & 6. There are of course other persons together with Tom in the above 3 events.
If I would like to find out who are the persons who are in events which Tom had participated in, how do I find them using a query?
Currently, I'm thinking of using a searchform where it would return his "associates" if I just query using his social security number, i.e. 12345X.
Odd Averages Result From Query

why am I getting the result:
68.1131066106
I would have thought that it would have been 68 a whole number, has anyone got any suggestions why this should be.

Single Result Query

I am new to VBA with access. Im wanting to get the result of a query called "qLastRotaDate" into a variable called "datLastRota". The query returns a single date, it is not possible to have more than one result for this query. I have tried different variations of : datLastRota = qLastRotaDate but cannot get any to work. I'm assuming this is very simple yet I cannot figure it out as am very new to VBA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has been dealt with in previous posts but I could not find any info by searching the post.

IIF Query Not Returning Result.

Can anyone see anything wrong with this query?
I have 10 combo boxes where years are selected. If the last year nothing is selected (meaning is empty) then my query should return the last selected value. It seems the IIF query does not seem to work (Still showing empty). Can you please advise and help me on this?

Identical Query By With Different Result! Why?

I have a query which I run in the query design view. Then I have the same exact query which I run on the 'background' of a form.
The issue is, both queries turn out to have different record counts(eventhough I am using the same query and same tables). What is going on? Please help.

Query Giving No Result

Would appreciate help on this. I have a query which combines the results of 3 queries. Once the underlying queries each has a result I get a result in my query, but if 1 of the underlying queries has no result I get nothing. (I hope this makes sense).
How can I set my query to show results even if the underlying query doesn't.

Same Query Different Result Win2k / Xp

I have the following query in a access 2000 db
SELECT [5k1].[Race Number], [5k1].[Name], [5k1].[Club], Date()-[Date of birth] AS Age, [5k1].[Handicap Time], [5k1].[Male / Female], [5k1].[Date of birth], [5k1].[handmin], [5k1].[handsecs], [tblRaceEntries].[intEntryRace1], [tblRaceEntries].[intEntryRace2], [tblRaceEntries].[intEntryRace3], [tblRaceEntries].[intEntryRace4], [tblRaceEntries].[intEntryRace5]
FROM 5k1 INNER JOIN tblRaceEntries ON [5k1].[Race Number]=[tblRaceEntries].[RaceNumber];
it is used as a means of input from a form.
When it is used in windows xp then all is good.
When it is used in windows 2k it doesn't work as I intended. The problem being that [5k1].[Race Number] field is reset with a default '0' value of [tblRaceEntries].[RaceNumber]
Whats the difference between the 2k/xp system that causes this.. what the solution?
