View RepliesI have created a form with 3 subforms on. i was just wondering is it possible to display/ hide these subforms based on a Yes/No field in the form. as the subforms would only be valid if the field is ticked as yes.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm working on an existing 2010 database that has a table that stores PDF's in an OLE field. The boss wants to be able to see the PDF on a form along with the other fields in the database. He doesn't want the pdf to open up in a separate window in Adobe PDF viewer. He doesn't want to have to switch between 2 windows because he's comparing data from the other fields in the record to what's on the PDF. He doesn't have dual monitors and doesn't want that either.
when I put the PDF field on a form all I get is an ICON that has to be double clicked on to open but I need it to display the pdf or at leas part of the PDF so he can scroll down to view the whole pdf. I thought about using a subform or tabs and putting a web browser control to display the pdf. I've seen examples of how to set a web browser control URL when the pdf is in an attachment field but I haven't been able to find any examples of how to view the pdf in a web browser control or any code to actually show the pdf on the form from an OLE field.
I know storing the PDF in an attachment field is the best way to do this and I've let the boss know. My only task is to display it on a form and not to redesign the database.
I have a form with a memo field which is used by users to input transctiptions of Customer Contacts but the form is getting busy and the box now only 2.77 wide X 0.683 High.
this makes it impossible to read on the form even as a text box with scrolling..how to add a mouse over on it so that it fires up a large text/meg style box to display the contents?
I am teaching myself Access 2007. I have a successfully imported my database to a table, and now I want to design Forms and Reports. It seems Access wants to basically display the data in either one of two formats, either Columnar, or Tabular. One Form displays the data in columns, with one field per line, and the other displays the data in rows, with one whole record per line. I need a Form (and Report) which will display more than one field per line, and use more than one line. For example, some lines will have 2 or 3 fields, then the next line may have only 1 or 2 fields. Following is a print-out of a record from my existing database (stored in a comma delineated .txt file and read and printed by a program written in DOS, QBasic):

[The attached .pdf file shows a better view of the print-out]This data is abstracted version of a document recorded in the public record in a courthouse. On the first line there are 3 fields:
1) the Volume-page,
2) A notation that we have a copy of the document, and
3) the title of the document.
On the 2nd line there are 2 fields:
1) the date of the document and
2) the date the document was filed in the courthouse.
The next 3 fields are displayed one at a time in columns. How I can get Access 2007 to display like this?
I know that Access can display images, I have seen it done. I am using Access 2013. I am trying to display a photo in a form field. In the underlying table I have tried using attachment and OLE Object data types and I couldn't get the picture to display with either.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhi,
in my table i have a customer id number.
each job will have one customer id number.. and customers will have many jobs to their id
i simply want to display on my form the number of times that customer's id has appeared in my bookings table.
eg.. a customer has used our services 25 times.. (so obviously their customer id is found 25 times in the booking table as a foreign key)
so can i just place a control on my form that displays this value (i presume it is some kind of counter)..
so i will know on my customer form how many times they have been included in a booking record
In short can I display a field on a form that is not in the forms field list without using a sub-form? I am trying to show a value from a query on this form. I tried this in the control source:
[qry_op500_entry_delta]![countofphone model]
I get an error stating that this is not in my field list for the form.
If the answer is No or if needed I can give more information on what I am trying to do.
In my form (source tblJobs) i input a contract number from tblContracts. but i would also like it to show the contract address when the contract number is entered. Both fields belong to tblContracts but i only wish to enter the contract number, the address will just be used as a reference as it isnt something i would have to enter again.
So for example
112 - Main Road
If i enter 122 in my ContractNo field i would like it to show the contract address for that specific contract.
Can i do this? If So how?
My intentions are to get my combo box to display data into a field in my form, when it is changed/selection is made. So far my form has the following:
Combobox: CBOCharacters
Field: CharacterGender
Both of these are in the same table; tbl_Characters. The data type for CBOCharacters is a number and its called CharacterID in the table.
So far I have created this piece of code:
Private Sub CBOCharacters_AfterUpdate()
Me.CharacterGender = DLookup("CharacterGender", "qry_StillNeeded", "[CharacterID]= " & Me.CBOCharacters)
End Sub
When I run this event procedure i get an error:
Runtime error '2471'
The expression you entered as a query parameter produced this error '[CharacterID]'
I am new to Access 2010. When working with a form, how do I display the field list? The list of fields for the table associated with that form.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a split form on my database where I have my combo boxes bound to a primary key but they display the description field so it's much easier to understand. Is there a way to do this with option groups? In other words, I would like the datasheet part to display the option group labels rather than the values so it is easier to understand.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a form with various fields, two of these fields are "Date Purchased" and "Lease End Date". When there is no value entered originally, I have made a default value of 12/30/9999.
The problem is that when you open the form and these two fields are next to each other, the user says it confuses them seeing a date even though it is a dummy date.
Is there a way for me to create a expression that will be something like:
IIf(DateField = 12/30/9999, Me.Datefield.Visible = False, Me.Datefield.Visible = True)
or VBA
Private Sub Form_AfterUpdate()
If Me.DateField.Value = "12/30/9999" Then
Me.DateField.Visible = False
Else
Me.DateField.Visible = True
End If
End Sub
If have tried both ways and neither works.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have created a query that will create a table automatically. I want one of the fields that I have defined in the query, not to show up on the table. the purpose of that field is just to check a minimum value so that the field next to it can use the value. when I uncheck the "show" box in design view the field completely disappears and Access asks the user to enter a value for that name since the value is used in the field next to it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this one is easy, but I can't seem to get the code to work right. I have a field called "Discharged" and "ProposedDischargeDate". What I want to do is if the "Discharged" field is empty, or null, I want the "ProposedDischargeDate" to be visible. Otherwise, I want it to remain hidden. I want this on either the AfterUpdate or the OnExit event of the "Discharged" field. Here's what I've tried:
If [Discharged].Value = "" Then
[ProposedDischargeDate].Visible = False
End If
or
' if the field is empty, show the proposed discharge date field
If Me.Discharged = null then Me.ProposedDischargeDate.visible = true
' if the field is not empty, hide the diagnosis field
If Me.Discharged = true then Me.ProposedDischargedDate.visible = false
But this doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help.
Hi
How do I easy create a checkbox that displayes a field when I check it.

I have a report that gives an update on construction projects. I've recently added an OLE field so I could attach photos and pdfs. I would like to see the photos and pdfs but not the empty space for the OLE field. I also want to see the construction project data even if there is no OLE. If I use the 'Is Not' Null in the query, the whole project record is not generated in the report. Is that enought info to solve?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHi,
I have a combo box which is populated by a table with the fields ID, First Name and Surname. What I want to do is display the first name and surname concatenated and hide the ID column, but populate the field with the ID number.
Is this possible?
I have a sub form with checkboxes. Each check box represents one of the columns/fields in my query. If one of the boxes is checked, I only want the column that matches with the check box to appear. I have done some research and have came upon the ColumnHidden property.How would one do this in a macro or VBA format.
