How Do You Date Criteria To Get Spcific Data Results?
Aug 25, 2004
I want the user to run a query that will return rows of data. I want them to be able to specify the date so they can get all data from the date specified. I wan them to do it from the form and have added a run query button, right now it just returns all rows. They will the export it to a text file so the file will be uploaded to an accounting syste, - Two different systems, accounting dept and companies - it's a huge pain, but hell it's a job
thanks

I don't know what it would be called or even how to start doing it in access other than it requires a criteria here is what I'm trying to make happen with access
name date yes/no criteria would be set to date > 180 days then it would equal value of No < 180 days then equal value Yes
If i set a today's date value on the database and then criteria is based of the value in the date box with the above information how would this be done.

Below is a simplified example of what I'm trying to achieve with a parameter query.
The source table for the query contains two fields:
Reading_Date (short date) and Use_value (integer)
The parameter query sums Use_value between two dates for various date ranges specified as 'or' criteria. SQL as follows:
SELECT Sum(Table1.Use_Value) AS SumOfUse_Value
FROM Table1
WHERE (((Table1.Reading_Date) Between #1/1/2013# And #1/5/2013#)) OR (((Table1.Reading_Date) Between #1/1/2014# And #1/5/2014#));
This produces a single sum total, but I'd like the query to give a total per criteria date range. In other words to group results by criteria. As date ranges may span year change, grouping by year is not possible.

Im looking for something that filters information for 6 months prior to any current, non-specific date. Like it will automatically get the data dated from 6 months ago from june, july, or august, without anyone having to go in an change the date criteria.
Below is a non working example of what I am trying to come up with. If I could get something like this, it would save me a ton of time going back and updating all the date criteria for my databases.
Forgot to post it:
>=Now()-Day(180)

I have a query in my database called "Open Date" which is a date formatted field when imported as DD/MM/YYYY. The criteria is set to:
>=#06/04/2014# And <=#05/04/2015#
The query works just fine. My customer has come back and asked for the way the date is displayed to be in the YYYY-MM-DD format (i know it's not ideal but thats what they want). When i've done that using the following
Format([Table].[Open Date],"yyyy-mm-dd")
The query then returns no data.

Hi,
I have a query with a field defined in the query as follows:
Next Bill Date:
IIf(IsNull([dtmLastBillDate]),
DateSerial(Year([dtmDateRecd]),Month([dtmDateRecd])+1,15),
DateSerial(Year([dtmLastBillDate]),Month([dtmLastBillDate])+[lngNumMonths],15))
I can't seem to set any criteria for this field without getting an error:
'Data Type Mismatch in Criteria Expression'
Examples of criteria that I've tried:
=#1/1/2005#
>#1/1/2005#
=Date()
Year([Next Bill Date]) = Year(Now())
All of the above generate that same error.
{I've seen many pages/posts regarding 'data type mismatch' but none seem to relate directly to this situation.}
I could use some help, fast!
Thanks in advance,
David

I currently have a form where users can enter an "End Date", click a button, and it queries the data from 12 months prior to "End Date" entered.
Is there a way to force the query to show all 12 months, even if there are no records for a particular month? For example: if the user enters February 2013 in the date field, I would like the query to return:
March 2012
April 2012
May 2012
June 2012
July 2012
August 2012
September 2012
October 2012
November 2012
December 2012
January 2013
February 2013
...so even if June 2012 has no records, it is included in the query with a value of zero.
This is what I have so far:
WHERE (((Qry_Tbl_Assets.Dte) Between DateAdd("m",-12,[Forms]![Main_screen]![End_Date]) And [Forms]![Main_screen]![End_Date]))

I have 3 main tables: tblEmployees, tblJobs, and tblProcedures. (See attachment for relationship diagram and additional supplemental tables).A job can have multiple procedures and an employee can have multiple procedures too.
I need to write a query such that when searching by a specific job I can see all of the employees who are qualified for that job. This is done by seeing which employees have the procedures that belong to a job. But here's the catch: since a job can have multiple procedures, if an employee only has some of the procedures I don't want that particular employee to return as a search result. The employee must have ALL the procedures that belong to the selected job.
So for instance if I have:
tblJobs
Job1
tblEmployees
Emloyee1
Employee2
[code]...
If I search by Job1, I want only Employee2 to return as a result, NOT Employee1.I am at a lost for how to construct the SQL for something like that.

I use this on most queries where I need to return all results if the form field is left blank. Works like a charm every time...
Like [Forms]![frm_main_menu]![Week] & "*" Or Is Null
except for this time..I need to filter by week number (52 weeks in a year)...problem is if I enter week "1" I also get weeks "10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19".

I have a very simple cascading combo box form with three combo boxes.
First - Customer - pulled from tbl1
Second - Item Description - pulled from tbl1, based on Customer
Third - Quarter - not pulled from any table, just 1-4 numbers I manually inputted
The cascading part works perfectly fine, but the problem comes with the query button to get the full report I need. If someone selects quarter 1, I want the query to pull up only the quarter 1 column in the table for that customer and description, not quarter 2, 3, 4 columns too (those should just be invisible).
(This part works fine) In the query under Criteria, I have placed:
Customer -- [Forms]![frmSummary]![CBCustomer]
Item Description -- [Forms]![frmSummary]![CBDescription]
then I have columns Quarter 1 -4 and don't know what code makes the query show only the correct column based on the quarter combo box.
I'm assuming it might look something like..vvv...but I know this is wrong.
Quarter 1 -- [Forms]![frmSummary]![CBQuarter]=1

Hi there,
I'm working on a select query that I have created through the visual query design window in Access 2003, I have multiple criteria but the query is not filtering the results properly.
I'm selecting only records :
where the DeliveryCountry field is within the EU - works
where the ProductID does not contain Repair, Upgrade or Rpr - doesn't work
where the Demo/Sale ID is 2 - works
I've viewed the code in SQL view but I still can't locate the problem, though I suspect it lies in the treatment of ANDs and ORs.
The SQL is pasted below (I have reformatted with indentations so I hope it is easier to read).
One thing to note: the reason the countries list is split in two is because Access did this automatically when I had one long list. Is there a maximum length for WHERE clauses?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Abby

I have a table and a simple query that pulls results from the table. Nothing too crazy. But, if I were to go in and change some of the data/values in the query results it will change the respective data in the table. I know that this cannot be right. What do I have to do to either prevent the ability to change query results and/or prevent any changes in the query from altering the original data in the table.

I have set up a report which prompts the user for a start and end date. However, if they want to run it for a full month they enter eg. 01/07/07 and 1/07/07 - this will not include entries ending on 31/07/07.
Is there a way I can change the criteria prompt so that it read both dates entered as inclusive in the query. I am currently using

I'm trying to select records in a table that have "today's date" using Date():
Code:WHERE (((Orders.Complete)=Date()))
This would work except that the field (Complete) has date and time. I want to add a wildcard to the "WHERE" statement, so it looks up any time on today's date, but everything I've tried has not worked.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Philip.

hi, i have certain jobs and i want to select them based on the job date.
in my current query, i use the job date parameter
[Enter a Date:]
when the user types in the date, then the jobs for that date and their corresponding information is displayed.
however, i have created a form for this query displaying the results as a datasheet.
instead of the user having to enter the date for the query manually, is there any way to modify the query to only show results for the current day.
eg. today is the 24/02/06.. so i would like the results from the query to automatically show the jobs for that date. this way, only todays jobs will be shown in my form.

How to run a query which would return all records from tblA and only the most recent date from AppointmentsDates field from tableB?
Do I use GroupBy somewhere or Top 1 to acomplish this? Or maybe I should use a sub-query?

Hey,
I've got to make a query that displays all records whose Date/Time field appear after another tables Date/Time field.
I suppose I could say this is for use in an "Item scanned into inventory, Item Scanned out of Inventory" fashion.
To purpose is to use the total items returned after the date/time to be subtracted from the total of items that were scanned in at an earlier date.
I always tend to get redundant because I'm never sure how well I explain something, it would work something like such:
Table 1(Items Out):
ItemID | DateTime | Quantity
1 1/1/08 1:00 1
1 1/1/08 3:00 1
Table 2(Items In):
ItemID | DateTime | Quantity
1 1/1/03 2:00 1
So effectively the query would run, with the date/time criteria being ItemID 1's Date/Time. It would ignore the 1:00 entry as it occured before the first Item that was scanned in, and return that we have 0 ItemID 1s in inventory.
Inventory is just being implemented it was seat of your pants in the past that is why I have this dilemma we dont know how many are in stock until we check it manually but we know how much has left. This is why data before our manual check is not important to our current totals. We could have sent out 5 ItemID 1s but only have 1 in stock now, and if we use that data we would have -4 in inventory. I'm attempting to use the oldest date/time of the manual scan (table 2) as a criteria per item scanned against table 1. Hopefully, to return the present total of items on hand.
Edit*
As a note, I understand how to use >=#1/1/08 1:00:00# as a criteria but for some reason I cannot swing using a field in a table as criteria. That's pretty much what I can't find on the board or in my books.

I need a subgrouping for a report I am working on.
I have a DateIn field that contains date as mm/dd/yy. I have managed to get a count of all of a certain type of document that came in during a certain period of time that usally spans a quarterly period. So typically there are three months in the query. I would like a subgroup that breaks the numbers up in the 3 month period by each month.
So if a total of 150 docs moved in 3 months it shows 50 moved the first month, 50 the second, etc. I believe this is grouping by month. I have not been able to determine the criteria for getting the query to group by a single month as well as the three months period being grouped by document type. Here is what I have so far.
SELECT ctblDocuments.DocTypeID, tlkpDocTypeList.DocType, Count(ctblDocuments.DateIn) AS CountOfDateIn
FROM ctblDocuments INNER JOIN tlkpDocTypeList ON ctblDocuments.DocTypeID = tlkpDocTypeList.DocTypeID
WHERE (((ctblDocuments.DateIn) Between #7/1/2005# And #9/30/2005#))
GROUP BY ctblDocuments.DocTypeID, tlkpDocTypeList.DocType
ORDER BY tlkpDocTypeList.DocType;

I'm using the like [forms]![clients]![searchfield] in the criteria of the query to bring up results.
