General :: Mail Merge Word File (using Data From Access File)

Mar 11, 2014

I often create contract using mail merge. I have an access file that I want to use as data source for word file. But it does not automatically.

Please download the attached file !

If there are 1 customer and 1 property, I do not need to do anything. Conversely, if there are many customers and many properties, I take time to manipulate.

Firstly, I open the word file. I have to copy and paste paragraphs that I want. Highlight of the original paragraphs is blue.

Secondly, I click 'Insert Word Field' -> select 'Next Record'.

In short, I wish to use VBA in access file to automatically perform the steps that I have outlined.

Modules & VBA :: Import Word Form Data

Nov 26, 2013

I am using the follow code to import data from a Word form into my MS Access 2010 DB:

Code:
Set dbs = CurrentDb
Set rst = dbs.OpenRecordset("tmpSIRs", dbOpenDynaset)
With rst
.AddNew

[code]...

On the Word Form, these two fields are drop-downs with three options: blank, No, and Yes. If the users leaves them blank, then Access ignores them--which is what I want. However, if the user says yes or no, Access puts a "-1" in the database. Both the Word form and Access field are text.

Cannot Export, Import, Copy/paste, Rename Table With Data!

Feb 22, 2006

Hello everyone.

I've been in a new position for a new company for less than three weeks, and I need some help.

The Access database that we use has been in operation since 2002, and it has never been Compacted/Repaired (I asked my coworkers and supposed IT people, and they said "what's that?").

After adding *one* new field, I've reached the horrific "error 3190" (max 255 fields).

I've tried all of the following, allowing at least 12 hours for them to run, but I cannot:
export the data to Excel
import the data into a new database
copy/paste the records (because there are 12100+ and the max is 9500, I think; and because of the way the dd/mm/yy converted itself to dd/mm/yyyy)
or rename the table with the data.

Please, someone help me.

Modules & VBA :: Password Parameter For Import / Export Data Macro

Jul 16, 2014

I am creating a ImportExportData macro that will link to my tables in the BE

However the BE has a password. I was told this would require coding.

I have even tried to 'convert macro to VB' and i get this:

Code:
DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", "c: est.accdb", acTable, "Table1", "Table1", False

I then tried to enter the password in the last segment (StoreLogin) ie:

Code:
DoCmd.TransferDatabase acLink, "Microsoft Access", "c: est.accdb", acTable, "Table1", "Table1", False, "PASSWORD"

but that didn't work either, i got a "An expresiions you entered is the wrong data type for one of the arguments"...

Import A Csv File And Seperate Bad Data

I want to import a csv file and store the good data (which matches input masks, validation etc) into one table, and all the bad data which is rejected into another table.

I've read a bit about an import error table, and although I do get errors when importing the csv file, no such table is generated.

Many thanks

Import Data Monthly From CSV File?

Nov 4, 2011

What I am trying to accomplish is import data from a CSV file every month and have it stored as a table and have that table automatically be converted into a printable invoice. I can do the import with no problem. But I am at a bit of a loss as to how I can go about creating the database.

There is only one client that I have to make up an invoice for, but will be more in the future. I need to store the data for each months invoice and then get yearly reports off that data.

#1, How would I go about connecting each months data?
#2, Should I be using a report to create the invoice layout?
#3, How do I go about automating creating the invoice from the imported data? (I am at an intermediate level with VBA, but access seems to be a whole different ball game)

Tables :: Read A File And Import Its Data Into A Table?

Oct 17, 2014

Was wondering how i can import data from a file to a table in different fields. The data inside the file is described with the number of characters and space's between. The attached file has the data.

For example in the file attached, the first four characters represent a data like 'ticket number' and maybe the third line 6 to 10 charcaters represent 'name of a passenger'.

Now how do i import these data to a table into respective fields in a table.

Automate Data Type Conversion At Text File Import

Jul 7, 2005

hello once again,
I need to import a text file into an existing table in Access. The text file has been imported once and is working well and everything. However, since I had to change some of the datatypes to be able to query the table correctly, I now cannot import the text file anymore unless I change the datatype of the table itself. Since someone other than I will be doing the imports from here on out, changing the datatypes everytime is out of the question. I was looking at the TransferText event, but I didn't seem to see anything about converting data types. I can think of two options, and neither are probably possible:
1. import using the wizard. Since I didn't see anything related to the types of data, I don't think this will work...
2.import using TransferText. This doesn't seem to give me any opportunity to change the datatypes either. Is there anyway to programmatically change datatypes, or is there possibly an easier way that I'm overlooking??
thanks in advance,
*j

General :: Export Table To CSV And Then Add Extra Data Lines At Header And Footer Of File?

Feb 20, 2014

Managed to export a table to csv file. The problem I now have is I need to add the following Text at the start of the file:-

H,LKJ85485524,DE

and the new last line :- T,whatever the record count is,2

Whether this info is added before or after export is not important.

I have even resorted to using VBA to create an Excel spreadsheet and saving to csv.

Thought this had cracked it however I had surplus commas at head and footer where the original csv file had additional columns (ok manually delete these comas) ,then found that the end of each csv line was missing a final comma that is needed by the recipient of the file.

Export To Word

Jun 26, 2006

Boy am I frustrated.

I have searched the forums for similar problem but I was unable to find it.

I have some buttons that export the data from a form into a Word Document. It generally works but there are some issues.

I have Access 2003 but the people using it only use the runtime version of Access and the environment is Office 2000.

I have copied code from other examples and maybe missing something that is causing the issues.

1. When I export the record it is causing problems with the Normal.dot template. When I try to close Word it keeps asking me that I have modified that template. After pressing Cancel button twice it the save box disappears.
2. When I leave the code Dim objWord As word.Application I get an error message about a compile error User defined Type not defined.
2. When the users try to export a record to the specific word template I
created and a required field is empty an error message is displayed and then closes the application.

Any help will be appreciated. I am a newbie when it comes to code.

Sample code is below.
Private Sub Command1079_Click()
Dim objWord As word.Application
'Start Microsoft Word 2000.
Set objWord = CreateObject("Word.Application")

With objWord
'Make the application visible.
.Visible = False

'path and name of the template your are using.
' objWord.Documents.Add ("U:Asset Strategy and Commercial PropertyCommercial PropertyTaskmasterletterofobjection.dot")
.Documents.Open ("C:Documents and SettingsDadMy DocumentsWorkTaskmasterletterofobjection.dot")

'This is for the bookmark that you created in the template

.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("bmSubject").Select
Selection.Text = Forms![frmTaskMaster_LeaseManagement]![Subject]
.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("bmCurrentRent").Select
.Selection.Text = Format(CCur(Forms![frmTaskMaster_LeaseManagement]![CurrentRent]), "Currency")
.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("bmVendetails").Select
.Selection.Text = Forms![frmTaskMaster_LeaseManagement]![VenDetails]
.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("bmDateNotice").Select
.Selection.Text = Format(CDate(Forms![frmTaskMaster_LeaseManagement]![RentNotice]), "dd mmmm yyyy")
.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("bmRentReviewDate").Select
.Selection.Text = Format(CDate(Forms![frmTaskMaster_LeaseManagement]![ReviewDate]), "dd mmmm yyyy")
.ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("bmAskingRent").Select
.Selection.Text = Format(CCur(Forms![frmTaskMaster_LeaseManagement]![AskingRent]), "Currency")

End With

Print_Reconsideration_Err:
'If a field on the form is empty, remove the bookmark text, and
'continue.
If Err.Number = 94 Then
.Selection.Text = ""
Resume Next

End If
objWord.Application.Options.PrintBackground = False
objWord.Application.ActiveDocument.PrintOut

Text File To MS Excel Multiple File Import Application

Jul 20, 2006

hello,

I would like to automate something presently done on a one-by-one basis. Here: a number of text files(containing data) are to be exported into an MS Excel file, with each text file to occupy a different worksheet. Presently, the idea is to use the Data/import external data/import data feature of MS Excel for importing the text files one-by-one into newly created worksheets(within the same workbook).

I would appreciate some advice on how to go about creating a useful MS Access application to achieve the above. I have checked the available Macros in MS Access, but I could not find one to suit my purpose. can anyone pls assist, on how I can get started?

can it be done??

any replies will be much appreciated.
