How To Store Equations On Fields Display And Edit Them In A Form
Apr 23, 2014
I would like to store equations on certain fields and display and edit them in a form.
I can't find a Microsoft Equation Editor control in the list of ActiveX controls. Is it stored as a .ocx file? How is it named?
In case Equation Editor can't be used within Access, is there another third party addin that provides a control with that functionality? It would be great if there were an application that accepted markup code like LaTeX as input so it were easier to implement a code to manipulate equations.
Lets say an employee form withs the name, the position, the birthdate, ... and a picture of the person.
There are several ways to store pictures in a database, each having pros and cons.
Experienced developpers in dealing with pictures would be kind to tell me the way they recommend to store the picture, and the best way to simply display it on the form.
Using Access 2000, I have an BeforeInsert event to set a value in a field by referencing the form/subform/fieldname. When the user enters a new record simpy by arrowing down the subform, this value IS entered but NOT displayed until the record is saved.
How do I get the programmatically stored value to display on the proper field box WHILE the user is entering the other fields?
I assume the NEW record is a buffer (not in the database yet), so perhaps I need to reference the new record buffer so it displays on screen. How do I reference that?
I have a subform displayed in Datasheet form and I would like to store in a field negative integers. But, for UI and usability purposes, I don't want the user to have to write the "-" for the negative value to be stored. is it possible that the user will write the number i.e. 1 and in the table -1 will be stored?
There must be an easy answer to this! I have searched the forums but have not found what I need to make this work the way I want it to. I have a three part reference field. The records in the form are supposed to be sorted into ascending order Field1 first, then Field2 and finally Field3. The forms RecordSource is a query that brings through the relevant fields from my table. I have the query sorted according to these three fields so that every time I open the database it sorts the way I want it to. What I want to do is have a button that will sort the records into the correct order when the buttion is clicked. I am sure this can be done, but cannot get it to work on more than one field at a time! Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciatted.
Is it possible to have a count of all records matching a certain criteria displayed on the form?
I have to schedule customers for certain dates but never know how many have been scheduled by date while in the form. I am not sure how to reference the field from the table to be counted. I have several unbound boxes with:
=date()&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date() =date()+1&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()+1 =date()+2&" "&{XXXX}([SCHEDULE DATE]=date()+2 etc.
not sure what to use for {XXXX}
As always, any help is appreciated.....
Someday I will contribute some answers instead of questions.....
I would like to know if I can control what field the check box enters the -1 value in my record depending on a value from another field in that record. In my table called workbook I have fields called, phone type which is a text field, wall and wm entry which are both yes/no fields. I want to put one check box on my form to check when a wall mount is needed for the device. The thing is there are two different wall mount sizes. So I need to check the phone type field on my form, if the value is ENTRY then I need to have it enter -1 in the WM Entry field. If the field anything other than ENTRY then the -1 value should go in the WALL field. Can this be doen and how do I code it?
I have a form (frmFeeIncome) based on a table (tblFeeIncome)
On the form I have three fields which are FeesMonth, FeesYear, FeesUK (currency), FeesElsewhere (currency) and FeesTotal (currency). Each new record is entered like this
January 2015 25000 25000
What I need is for the total in the FeesUK field and FeesElsewhere field to be added up and stored in FeesTotal when FeesTotal has GotFocus
The FeesTotal has to be stored (I know it shouldn't be but it has to!)
I have tried the following in the GotFocus Event procedure but it does not work.
I have a tabular form in Access 2003 that is cutting off the text disply in some text fields.
I am doing some comparisons so the fields are repeated three times.
All three fields are larger than the data.
Two fields display correctly and the third field, identical to the other two, is chopped off on the right side and just shows empty space after the first few letters instead of all the data.
Fields are all the same size in the underlying table.
Changing the format between left, center, right has no effect.
Text size is the same in all three.
All the data is from a single query on a single form.
There is no subform.
All properties for the three are the same.
If I increase the field WAY beyond the required size all the data shows, but I haven't any extra room to do this on the form.
I have a simple database, consisting of two tables and one form. I'd like the form to display information mainly from the first table (table 1). For this, I have used the Form Wizard, which works well and displays as it should. My problem comes when trying to display data from table 2, without using the Form Wizard.
I have a simple field called 'Number' in 'Table 2'. I'd like this value displayed in a text box along with table 1's data. I've tried using the expression builder, which gives me something along the lines of:
[tbl_Table 2]![Number]
But this is displayed as:
#NAME
...when I open the form. Could anyone explain how I do this correctly please? All I'm trying to do is display data from other tables in the form.
How can I control the display of fields in a form? I see in a given database, that in the design view that some fields exist in a form but in the form-view some of them are not displayed.
I can't find how it was done, i see no difference in the fields' properties. Another question is how can i make a comboBox to display just the text without the ID number...
I have created a database to track our contacts for the office. I spent some time working on the relationships and making sure everything was normalized, as I've only just recently understood that concept. However, I'm afraid something got messed up in the process and I may have missed a step or done something wrong when creating the relationships.
Basically, I just created the form with all of my fields in it and when I try to view the form I see that no fields display (it's just a blank white screen). I wondered if I should actually be creating the form based off tblcontact, and then add subforms for each of the other tables.
See my attached database for further reference ...
I am preparing an invoice and I have a field called deposit .Now this field calculates %40 of the total of the order .but if the user wishes they can enter what they like .Now this field must be stored in a table for ever and a day and must not change or the invoice will be useless .I can see no other way of doing this and my research tells me (allen Brown) that this is sometimes necessary .
I would like to only display certain fields on a form depending on a criteria in another cell. For example if some enters 4 in 'Schemes' it would display 4 data entry boxes scheme1, scheme2, scheme3 etc - is it possible?
This being my first post, I hope to explain myself well enough. I am working on a database to do estimations. I will be starting with three main tables - Jobs, items & options. There are options that can be purchased for each item. My problem is that the option price's are unique. Example: There are door hinge options which will need to be multiplied by the number of doors (which is a field) and there are other options which are multplied by the length (another field). Is there a simple way to accomplish this? This may sound stupid but I was wondering if it would be possible to have a equation field for each option???
I have a simple problem that I can’t seem find any help for. I’ve tried searching and browsing the forums with no luck. I have a Boolean (yes/no) column that I would like to be dependent on an equation containing fields in a table. The equation is simple: I have three columns I’ll call them A, B and H.
The Equation is: A*12+B<H
If it’s true then the field will equal yes, if the equation is false then the field equals no.
I’d like to have this in a query that I can base a report off of. I know very little about SQL or VBA so when I see SQL or VBA terms used I can’t always tell what they mean. So if someone could tell me what I need to do I’d also know where to put it. Thanks A bunch!
Ok my goal is to have a calculation in a query that includes a bunch of addition, division, and multiplication. (It uses 10 pieces of data) I tryed typing it in the expression builder but it doesn't work. I don't know if I am setting it up wrong or putting it in the wrong spot or what. I've tried some different things and I either get a blank box in that field or I get a syntax error. Also is there any way I can put the info received by the equation into a field in my table? Thanks
Hi. I have a form with 3 fields that are required, the other fields within the form are not. Is it possible to make it so the non-required fields are only selectable/editable once the required fields are filled in? And if they are selected, a message appears saying "please edit required field first" or something like that?
I'm trying to take a database from MS database (Works 7.0) into Access 2002. I've done this before by saving it as a DBase IV file and then opening it as such into access. However, this time I need the EQUATIONS to transfer as well, not just the values. I care little about the form view, or even the values themselves, but need the equations to transfer. Please advise. Thanks.
I have done a query which has calculated fields, but I can't edit the stored fields directly from the query, instead I have to go to the table so as to edit it. Is this the way it works or is something wrong?
SELECT [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].N_OP, [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[N° FAC EXP], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[FECHA CUMP], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[DERECHO PGC], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[VTO DER EXP], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[IMPORTE REINTEGRO], [DETALLE CONTENEDOR].CANTIDAD, [DETALLE CONTENEDOR].[VALOR FOB], [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE].[TIPO DE CAMBIO], [TIPO DE CAMBIO]*[VALOR FOB] AS [PRECIO VTA (ARS)], [PRECIO VTA (ARS)]*[CANTIDAD] AS [TOTAL(ARS)], [TOTAL(ARS)]/[TIPO DE CAMBIO] AS [TOTAL(USD)] FROM [INSTRUCCIONES DE EMBARQUE], [DETALLE CONTENEDOR];
I want to create a calculation query that uses different equations under certain conditions. Here's specifically what I need:
If the "Cost_Category" field is "Full Price" then the query uses the following calculation: Total_Cost: Sum(nz([Program_Cost])+nz([Millage_Fee])+nz([Auditorium_Cost]))
If the "Cost_Category" field is "BOCES" then the query uses the following calculation: Total_Cost: Sum(nz([BOCES_Number_of_Participants])*nz([Cost_Per_Person]))
I have successfully created these two queries individually, but combining them doesn't seem to work. Here's what I wrote:
It keeps coming up with errors, saying that I misplaced a comma, parenthesis or quotation. I've tried playing with it, changing the syntax slightly but it doesn't seem to work.
I have 2 tables (tblItemsQB and tblItemInfo) that have a 1 to 1 relationship linked by the "PartNumber" field. The tblItemsQB table contains a description field and 2 price fields (this table is downloaded from Quickbooks). The tblItemInfo table contains additional fields with information on the part that isn't contained in Quickbooks, like OrderType, Phase, SubSystem.
I import the items from QB into tblItemsQB and then do an outer join with tblItemInfo to link all the information for the part. If I have created a new part in Quickbooks, when I do the outer join (I include all records from tblItemsQB) I can see the new part but since the part number doesn't exist yet in tblItemInfo, I can't add the information to the fields in that table.
What is the easiest way to create the new PartNumbers (those that exist in tblItemsQb but not in tblItemInfo) in the tblItemInfo table so I can add the other information to it?
I have a user that is unable to edit records, He can click in the fields but he could not delete or enter data in the fields. He has the ability to edit records but its fields are locked. I created a split database and created a secure front which I distributed it to multiple uses. The other users front end is working fine, expect for the one.
I have a query where I group by EmpID, so duplicates do not show up. In this query I have two fields with no data. These fields are to be filled in after the query is run in a form. However, these fields are not editable due to the group by feature. I tried two unbound fields, which does allow me to type, but doesn't save the changes once I click out of the field. The field then reverts back to blank.
