Limiting Popup Menu Options In Add Or Edit Mode...
Sep 12, 2005
Can someone point me in the right direction?
I have added a popup menu to my form to reduce the number of buttons needed. I would some of the options only available in the add or edit mode. Because its not a traditional button i dont think conditional formatting applies. Can someone give me a hint where I should be heading?
I have a form that is locked unless they click the command button to edit records. I want a msg box that when they click the close button it pops up with something like save edits? Just as an extra precaution. But I only want the message box to pop up if the form is in edit mode. Is this possible? And I would like to be able to have them click ok or cancel in the message box
Here is the code for the close button:
Private Sub Close_Click() On Error GoTo Err_Close_Click
Have a text field in a form with following relevant properties:
Format tab - Format: Short Time Data tab - Inputmask: 00:00;0;_ Data tab - Default value: =Time()
Goal: show a default but editable current time in HH:MM format
Behaviour: When entering form current time is displayed in HH:MM - problem is that when I enter field with the curser it automatically changes format to HH:MM:SS.
I have a text box. when I right click on this text box, I want to show a popup menu with a shortcut: Shift to another department. when I click this shortcut, I want to execute instructions.
I've created a popup menu form to be loaded when you cick on another form. I need to know how to get the popup menu form to close when you click off it. I've tried using lostfocus and deactivate but that didn't work. Modal is set to no. What code should i use and where would it go?
I lost a bunch of menu option sin my MS Access. In the Tools menu, almost everything is disabled (including Options) and in Add-Ins, all I have is the Add-In manager -and it doesn't seem to work as I readded all the add-ins and there ain't there.
I tried repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling Access from MS Office 2003 but I still have the same issue...
Is there any way to restore menus/editibility when they have been removed using ACCESS OPTIONS > CURRENT DATABASE then uncheck 'allow full menus'? Database was created in Access 2007. I always keep a back up of the pre-menu-disable state of my databases, but this is someone elses for which I can't find a backup.
I have a report that runs a number of queries via a macro in the on open property. These queries populate a table used in the report. The on close property runs a query to clear the table contents.
When a user ran this, he had a flurry of warning notices which I tracked down to the Confirm settings in the tools/options/edit find tab.
Is is possible to set these using vba?
I guess that this could be achieved using send keys, but this would probably be a bit clumsy - to say the least.
Can it be done so that the settings are changed only for the current session so that users have the original settings?
How to create custom menus in Forms in MS ACcess 2010. For example, I have a form fmrMainMenu. At the top of the form I want to create a menu labelled "Reports" that when clicked or hovered it displays a list of sub-menu options of all the Reports available in the database. Once the user makes a selection the report is generated. The functionality that I am looking for is similar to the old menu options like File, Edit, etc., in MS Office.
I am designing a transactions database for some of my clerical staff. I've inserted a data entry subform into the main transactions form (which also has a subform that summarizes all the selected company's past transactions). This data entry subform actually has as it's record source a table that simply stores that one record temporarily.
So when the user is finished entering their current transaction, I have a Save button that actually just opens a popup form which displays the data they entered into the data entry subform, giving them a chance to verify their entry is accurate. This form has a Save button which runs an append query and a delete query, adding the record to the permanent Transacations table and also clearing the temp table.
The problem I have, I think, is that when the popup form opens, the main form data entry subform still has that record locked as exclusive. I believe this is the case because while I am indeed able to make changes to the fields on the popup form, none of these changes appear in the temp table. In other words, the user is not actually able to use the confirmation pop up form to make any necessary edits to their entry. This makes the form sort of useless!
I have created a front end and put into production for my users but I want to reduce the amount of menu bar options they see so someone cant click on a button wondering what it does and mess something up. What is the best way to reduce the amount of options a user sees on the menu bars when they open the front end of the db?
currently i'm trying to implement a right click menu which will show a simple messege box.
My problem is that the list box is on a pop up form which opened up maximized. Now when i'm right clicking on the list box i see the right click menu but when i'm clicking on one of the menu options, nothing happenning (it seems that it don't go to the function as it should). i've also putted breakpoints on the function but it never tips.
It's important to mention that if i'm setting the form popup option to no the right click menu works perfectly (when i'm clicking on one of the options i see its matching messege box).
I'm running the following vba code:
This is the mouse up event handler for my list box:
Private Sub Song_List_MouseUp(Button As Integer, Shift As Integer, X As Single, Y As Single) ' Call the SetUpContextMenu function to ensure it is setup with most current context ' Note: This really only needs to be setup once for this example since nothing is
[Code] .....
setting up the "SetUpContextMenu" sub:
Public Sub SetUpContextMenu() ' Note: This requires a reference to Microsoft Office Object Library Dim combo As CommandBarControl ' Since it may have been defined in the past, it should be deleted, ' or if it has not been defined in the past, the error should be ignored
I have a form with a duplicate record button.Sometimes when duplicating a record the duplicate is created but the form remains in edit mode (small pencil in the form margin).I also have a manual record counter on the form which does not refresh to the newest record number following the duplication? Both issues happen together and not independently.
I now have the standard MS Access record counter visible on the form to see whats happening and this always jumps correctly to a new record number when duplication is triggered, so when the problem happens the MS Access counter is showing one more than my own record counter.
If I use the standard MS Access record navigation buttons and go back and then forward by one record, the duplicated record is then corrected. The edit mode pencil is gone and both record counters read the same, which I assume has happened this has forced a save to happen
If Me.Dirty Then Me.Dirty = False End If
- in the current event of the form, would solve the problem, but it doesnt make any difference at all, its still no better, or no worse than before?Using CTRL + S removes the pencil, but doesn't correct my bespoke record counter?
I have several comboboxes in my database from which users select values. However, in most cases, I do want to give them the option to add an item that does not appear while simultaneously updating the underlying table which stores those dropdown values. I have made use of the builtin "allow edit list items" feature of Access 2007 but the form always opens on the first record of the form on which they are to add the new item. Is there a way to specify that it should open in Data Entry view apart from using VBA?
I've been working on my DB for some time(thanks for the help with that:) ) then one day I open it up and my file/edit/view etc menu is gone!
After trying to open with shift to see if I've disabled it by accident. with no joy i tried open access on its own not by the project file and its not there either.
After a quick google I've the apparent solution for this happening in word. (http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm)
I am building a db and i want to disable the Shortcut Menu (pull down menu at form's title bar) to prevent the users from closing the main form.
There is a Disable Shortcut menu setting in the File/Options menu but the whole db gets the setting.
I simply want to deny the users from accessing the Shortcut Menu when on the Main Menu (or a particular form) but allow it on other forms where Printing is required via the Shortcut Menu.
Im looking at 2 options; edit the shortcut menu or force a form to disable that w/o affecting other forms.
I have several subform tabs and one that I have updated no longer shows up when I run the form on Form mode. The tab is there but no content or details of the subform
Hi everyone, I was trying out the options on the startup item of the tools item on the menu bar and my access window has gone except the following menu items: File,Window and Help. Can someone kindly show me how to bring back these seemingly lost items? Thank you for your willingness to help me out!
I'm trying to limit the amount a user can enter into a employee discount field in a table. I would like to set up a validation rule in the table to limit the discount to no greater than $0.20 or 20 cents. Anyone have any recomendations? Thanks..
It is a many-to-many relationship. When I open a table and enter a record there is a small + sign that allows me to open up the rows from the other table to enter directly into it. Can this be turned off? Also I can enter more than one record through this way. I only want one entry in inf_Ground, inf_Notes and inf_Entries for each HorseName. How would I do this? As you can tell I am completely new to Access and trying to learn. Thanks :)
Im doing a database booking system and i need to limit the amount of people to 160 per night. At the moment i have a query that sums up the bookings per date but i dont know how to then limit this column to 160.
we have this database that's used by differerent departments and one of the fields on the form has a combo box for status (pending / completed etc). when this is set to 'Complete' we would like to make sure that it can't be changed again, is this possible?
there is only one table used in this database and updates to other fields are still required so it is only this one combo box that need to be blocked from change once in the completed stage...
